2021  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is smartmixer.io legit ? on: October 19, 2019, 04:04:35 PM
I wouldn't recommend it, better check other ones listed in the thread given by the above user.

It's a red flag that they didn't prioritize their users privacy by using cloudflare which is the purpose of their service---to increase privacy. They did provide an explanation about it which wasn't enough imo.

check the whole discussion in their ANN: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5168505.0

also, I don't like how they promote themselves like creating another account to create another ANN (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5172400.0)

the amount of newbies asking questions in their first ANN is unusual too.
2022  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Yobit launches DDOS attacks against sites exposing it on: October 17, 2019, 11:48:51 PM
well...likewise op, I'd like a validation of your info, where did you get those?

If this is true, I'd be surprised as I've always thought yobit doesn't care about what ppl are saying about them. Maybe the supply of newbies they're baiting is decreasing? 🤔 but welp, this is a futile effort anyway, as long as the inside is rotten, you can't stop the negative remarks from coming.
2023  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sesterce / Bitech on: October 17, 2019, 03:57:23 PM
What's the proof those bad reviews are not from there business competitors and from genuine customers? Just Asking !!!

Not gonna buy that in case I hear it from them simply because I don't think their presence is such a huge threat for competitors to resort to that. They're not that well-known and reputable, I don't see a reason why would their rivals bother.

In any case, the fake reviews which sheds light on what they're capable of doing cough cough LYING should be enough to stay away.
Hmm. consider this an update to my previous post since they deleted their 1st ann and made another one only to delete it again.

(ANN thread 1 | ANN thread 2)

Bunch of users in the 1st ANN (1st page) are all in the 2nd ANN (1st page) praising them.
Now take a look at their post history:

Notice the threads they all posted on? All of that is simply not a coincidence. and who has the motive to do this? sesterce themself
2024  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info Questions/2FA on: October 16, 2019, 07:52:56 AM
Without further proof from OP it would be unwise to help him because we all could be helping a hacker get funds that belonged to someone else. I am not the one claiming that I lost some of the most important things any bitcoin wallet owner should keep safe. While at the same time saying that I only have access to information that can be stolen with a cookie infection.

well if there are vulnerabilities present, I believe any information can be stolen so what you're saying is we can accuse everyone who is trying to access their accounts using incomplete information.

Human error happens, we can forget, etc... and do note that not every bitcoin user gets the basics. If one does not know the weigh of a private key, pretty sure they wouldn't put a great deal of effort in keeping it safe

Imo, without enough flags (signs/evidence) it wouldn't be right to accuse someone and prevent them from getting help. I don't really wanna go down to "verify all information is clean first" route.
2025  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 9 Best Decentralized Exchanges which You Can Use To Trade on: October 15, 2019, 10:57:17 PM
I stopped reading at changelly which is at the top spot. They can ask for your KYC information and halt your funds if you do not conform so I'm not sure how is that decentralized and good for anonymous exchange.

You should write with the thought that someone might use it based on the information you provide.
2026  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info Questions/2FA on: October 14, 2019, 07:30:36 PM
Going by that, I will not be suggesting you any additional methods. I would also request other members here to follow suit.

No problem in cooperating but your claim needs strong proof which I don't see, mind elaborating? (doesn't matter if it's circumstantial)

If it's about op not having access to their email account and mnemonic, then no it's not enough. We're talking about an old neglected wallet, losing information wouldn't be weird.
2027  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Please help! on: October 14, 2019, 01:54:45 PM
Give up on MNT, pretty sure no one would buy a coin whose devs ran away/scammed ppl, it's pretty much dead. You can keep it in the wallet provided by them if you want, but I just don't see the point, not to mention that the wallet could also contain malware since we're talking about fraudsters.

06/06/2019 We have been unable to contact the developer of this coin - so please trade with caution.

For other coins/tokens which aren't dead, better withdraw them as soon as possible. If you wanna sell them, do it in another exchange.
2028  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase Locked my Bitcoin for 72 Hours. on: October 10, 2019, 11:53:20 PM
If you have previously sent to an address in which you are in control, you may wanna try this but keep in mind that canceling would reset the 72H. or maybe testing with a small amount would do if you got some left. I recommend the address which you have used the most.

If you DID authorize the transaction

.... OR
3. Use the Cancel button to cancel the transaction if you no longer wish to withdraw or send. You can create a new transaction to an email or digital currency address that you have sent to previously

better get out after this has been resolved if you're not willing to do KYC especially if you're just using them as a wallet.

....OR
2. From the Coinbase website, use the "Accelerate Withdrawal" button to complete ID verification, including a photo taken of your face. This step must be completed to accelerate every single delayed withdrawal or send, despite having an approved ID upload and selfie. Once completed, your transaction will be sent.

2029  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does this email come from Hitbtc.com?? on: October 09, 2019, 01:26:06 AM
I did not try to visit the link yet. So are you sure the mail comes from hitbtc officially? And these two email
Code:
<no-reply@hitbtc.com> <ask@hitbtc.com>
both are official?
As I know withdrawal notification comes from this mail.
Code:
<support@hitbtc.com>

Well, I wasn't 100% sure that's why I used the word "seems" but those email addresses mentioned are/were used by hitbtc

ask@hitbtc... - got my confirmation email from here
no-reply@.... - most "Successful Login from New IP" are from here
support@.... - yes, got my withdrawal verification here
and the links all redirect to hitbtc

Just do note of LeGaulois's reply which means anyone can impersonate hitbtc which I have also tried (no harm was done and can be done)

I recommend following TryNinja's advice.
2030  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Does this email come from Hitbtc.com?? on: October 08, 2019, 04:38:58 PM
Checked my email and made an alt using a temp email and those addresses seems to be really from hitbtc BUT since you didn't register, do not touch them as social engineering attacks are still possible.

I noticed that hitbtc doesn't require the user to login again once the email is confirmed, you just need to agree with the terms etc... and then youre at the dashboard so one possibility I could think of is that they want it to disguise as "your account" and deposit funds on it which the scammers can access since they're the one who registered. well, it's a pretty weak method

update

Another one. Tried treating sign in as sign up-- I registered using the sign-in page. guess what? It worked, I received the "Thank you for signing up with HitBTC!
We sent a confirmation email to...." so it's also possible that someone is brute forcing accounts and since you do not have one, it equated as a "sign up"

2. Just to add to the first question: do I have to decrypt my back up wallet which is in AES.json format to retrieve my seed ?

Your keys are stored in the json file, the mnemonic back then is used to retrieve the password hence why this existed https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/forgot-password

Try importing your json file here https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/import-wallet and if you're asked for a password, try typing in your login password.

I would expect solutions or direct questions to our whitepaper. apparently you insist on not investigating there really as it should be

huh? that's what I've been doing. Your whitepaper should have an explanation about the magic behind this statement. I am asking about your project's concept

Can you imagine investing in a cryptocurrency in which it is guaranteed to be stable?

A cryptocurrency that increases its value progressively with each agricultural production ?, with which it decides to withdraw for any reason and is not sold on the downside?
2033  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: cryptozapper.com -- who are they? on: September 27, 2019, 11:59:57 PM
@Maximus Crofus, Just explain on how you're going to sustain your unrealistic promise of guaranteed price increase over time, it shouldn't be that hard.

I'm not gonna delve more knowing that the red flag is just on the surface and is enough reason to stay away.
2034  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: cryptozapper.com -- who are they? on: September 26, 2019, 04:28:03 PM
@Maximus Crofus, clearly my rank has nothing to do with this as I presented you a reason on why I think it's a fraud in which you did not counter. Your "Time will tell if our ICO is a ponzi" statement only applies in blind buying. If there are signs to stay away, there's no need to stay unless ofc, you're "blind buying".

You can write a review however you like but do consider the possible perception of those who haven't tried the given service knowing that it's so easy to fake reviews these days. It all comes down in a poster's background and the content. In your case, background isn't reputable as you are running that ICO. Content isn't reliable as it was very vague and had bot-like phrases-- common in fake reviews. The rank (or activity in general, for other websites) also plays a part but isn't enough basis on whether their words are trustable.
2035  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MorCrypto Exchange on: September 25, 2019, 12:35:33 AM
@MorCrypto, Whoop. Edited my post as proofs weren't sufficient for my claim upon checking it again. and since you've brought that idea up, might as well right? A selfie with a note containing "bitcointalk.org" plus the date should be enough proof you guys are the same person on your website. Note that, it should be posted here in the forum at your ANN.
2036  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MorCrypto Exchange on: September 24, 2019, 09:21:41 PM
meh, It's already been found out you faked your team, only those who want to run away would do that.

Hello MorCrypto(Newbie). Yes, I have done proper research. And thus, I would say that your project advisor and cofounder pictures are fake. The former is a stock photo while the other one is a stolen from a musician on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/officialsirvic/).

I've uploaded the comparisons here: https://imgur.com/gallery/Sx8pjlw

and your whole concept speaks of fraud anyway. The market is unstable and so are investments so it doesn't make sense that you're gonna offer fixed high returns with little to no risks for users. There is no guarantee that your exchange, e-commerce platform or any other things will BOOM so there shouldn't be any promises about guaranteed profits.
2037  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: cryptozapper.com -- who are they? on: September 24, 2019, 12:09:47 PM
Incredible work and support of these people !!! All the seedofworld.com team are grateful to Cryptozapper.com
Anny offers the best solution.

They guided us in the stage we needed most, their solutions were quick and effective. its cost is insignificant before the capabilities of this work team
Huh

Not every review is reliable op, just like this one. There's nothing to hear from a person who has a ponzi ICO. Anyone who promises guaranteed price increase over time is a fraud as it is simply not possible--unsustainable.

Can you imagine investing in a cryptocurrency in which it is guaranteed to be stable?

A cryptocurrency that increases its value progressively with each agricultural production ?, with which it decides to withdraw for any reason and is not sold on the downside?

I advise to not base anything on a single or few reviews especially if they are very vague, bot-like, has lots of buzzwords and is made by accounts which doesn't have much activity (activity in general). Lastly, the website has low traffic and is not in any way look reputable, better drop your interest on this @op
2038  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Our competitor is trying to destroy us on: September 24, 2019, 12:48:24 AM
a lot of reputable accounts have been spam reported, and the telegram scam service is still very new, pretty sure if you get scam reported 5+ times, telegram automatically gives you the scam tag, and you need to contact their bot, or their support. Fairly easy to clear up.

Then they shouldn't label it as "scam" right away if it automatically appears after X amount of reports since it can be abused. They even said the scam label is used for suspicious accounts which is not right as suspicious doesn't necessarily mean scam.

UPDATE: We got our scam label removed, thanks for all the help. For anyone facing a similar issue, you just need to message @botsupport, they did some kind of verification and all good now Smiley

What kind of information was asked in the verification?
2039  Other / Meta / Re: Should a post be deleted from poor grammar? on: September 23, 2019, 04:30:45 PM
If it's really just a case of poor grammar to an extent of not getting their points across, there's no need to force themself to talk to a wall, there's always the local board(or section) to lean into. They can stick there until they improve enough.

Don't use paywithmoon, There's a big security issue that was raised about them which they outrightly ignored (that silence says something imo).

Quoting the post
DON’T USE THIS SERVICE!
UNINSTALL IT RIGHT NOW AND REVOKE YOUR COINBASE API KEYS.

I just saw this while browsing through Reddit:

Quote
Dear members of the Ethereum community,

TL;DR: Uninstall Moon, Revoke your Coinbase API Keys NOW and PROTECT YOUR ETHEREUM

I was the co-founder and CTO at https://paywithmoon.com. Due to my discovery of the unethical business practices Moon Technologies, Inc. has been engaged in, I have left the company.

As of today, the moon browser extension manipulates the DOM of the users' browsers to give them an augmented shopping experience, one that allows them to shop online with cryptocurrency. Over the past couple of months, my co-founder, Kenneth Kruger, has ordered the collection of data belonging to users as a way to improve customer experiences. No users have ever been asked explicitly if they would prefer to opt-out of tracking, a feature which I regularly insisted should be added. If you are a user and look under at terms and conditions stated under https://paywithmoon.com/terms-conditions/ (dated 26 Feb 2019), you will find the agreement hidden under one of the terms and conditions. This is a huge breach of GDPR and privacy laws that are meant to protect user data.

From the moment a user installs the browser extension, the company will know exactly what pages are open on the user's browser, what the content of those pages are, and what the user is doing with them.
The biggest and most alarming issue of all, is the process of collection of how the browser extension works in the backend - Coinbase API keys. From the moment the user initiates the connection between the company and Coinbase, the company watches for changes in the user's current window, waiting for the user to complete the one-time passcode (OTP) verification process as required by Coinbase. Once that is done, the company programatically clicks the required permissions (scopes) required to create the API key as it sees fit.
The API key is then shown only once on the next screen, but the user does not know this (done via CSS manipulation). The company extracts the API keys into the backend, stored in plain text on the company's database on AWS. This is a definite security antipattern. This API key is then able to be used indefinitely until manually revoked by the individual user.

When I asked Kenneth Kruger why we should not encrypt the keys or create recursively locking IAM policies to prevent anyone in the management team to have personal access to users' API keys, Kenneth Kruger constantly avoided or redirected the discussion and prevented me from building any kind of system that would protect users.
Only two days ago, I have been locked out of my organization accounts including AWS and can no longer take preventive measures to protect users.

If you are a user of our browser extension today, ***PLEASE*** you need to uninstall the browser extension via chrome://extensions and go into https://www.coinbase.com/settings/api and revoke ALL your API keys NOW.
If you have not used the Moon browser extension, but know of a friend that might, please inform him or her to do so immediately.

You can read more about my experience in another post here https://np.reddit.com/r/startups/comments/au668p/what_to_do_in_the_event_you_get_zuckerberged_in_a/.

I had created Moon as I was crazy enough to think I was able to change the world with the single vision of bringing mass adoption to cryptocurrency, accelerating the future of the financial system. However, today is truly a sad day for crypto. Until we can find a way to completely decentralize and move away from the corporations, the no-accountability attitude and greed many executives possess, we cannot hope to bring forth the dream of cryptocurrency.

Until we meet on the moon again, please be safe, not sorry,

Alexander Ang

Until this is solved, don’t trust them.
