Anybody else taking part in the latest Bitcoin movement sweeping across social media? 100 pushups a day until 100K?

I'll do it if you will.

I'm in.  I made a new thread so we won't keep pestering people on this thread about it and I put it in speculation because it is basically speculation that the Bitcoin price will hit $100K.  The countdown begins...  I had initially thought that Bitcoin would hit $100K in 2025, but now I'm really hoping it happens sooner so that I'll still be able to scratch my own back at the end of this challenge.

2222  Economy / Speculation / 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: February 06, 2024, 10:22:31 PM
Bitcoin is headed to $100,000 and that's not speculation. OK, maybe it is, but the 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K challenge is real and has been echoing throughout the community for a week now, so I thought I would make a thread here for those of us who want to try and hold ourselves accountable.

The first video that comes up when you do a quick search for this is Jae from Proof of Work Fitness, so I'll give him credit for kicking off this trend until someone corrects me with better information.  You can see his video about it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPrsA7gBc3U

I myself started this challenge on 2/2/24 and hope to inspire other Bitcoiners to take this step to help build some muscle in the community.

Here's a video showing you what happens to your body after doing 100 push-ups a day for a month and gives some tips on proper form: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euPXf2hqU3s

My only real tips would be to not worry about trying to do 100 push-ups at once.  Break them down into as small of sets as you need to keep from hurting yourself.

If 100 a day is too much, maybe try to start with whatever "K" the Bitcoin price is at and work your way up to 100 along with Bitcoin.  Smiley

Who's in?!?!?

Want to be included on the spreadsheet tracking everyone's push-ups?  Below is the format to post your progress in order to be added to the spreadsheet.
Example: 100k,OgNasty,69,6900,2024-04-20

[Format(notice no spaces): "100k,UserName,DaysDoingPushups,TotalPushupsDone,yyyy-mm-dd"
This would be the first 3 posts of a new participant named Pushupper who completed 20 pushups on day 1, 30 pushups on day 2, and 30 pushups again on day 3.

Day 1 post include = "100k,Pushupper,1,20,2024-03-15"
Day 2 post include = "100k,Pushupper,2,50,2024-03-16"
Day 3 post include = "100k,Pushupper,3,80,2024-03-17"]

The quotes won't matter to the script and might help emphasize the no spaces rule?

Another centralised Solana outage.

"Please restart the server, Bob."

 Roll Eyes

someone trip over the extension cord again? sheesh

"You can increase your staking reward percentage by pressing this button here, let me show you."

BOOM!

It is pretty shocking that something with a market cap in the tens of billions can be so unreliable.  I'm sure this isn't the last time we'll see Solana go down this year.  It's a shame because most of the newbies I know who get into Bitcoin jump straight to Solana for whatever reason and want me to support it with them.  However, I just can't bring myself to do it.  I thought about buying some when it was around $20 to stake but it's just such a horrible blockchain.  Lots of people will probably get rich from it anyway, but I wish they were making more progress building reliable products.
2224  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 06, 2024, 08:00:38 PM
I'll do 100 push-ups tomorrow as penance.
Do 100 sips of coffee. It's healthier.  Cool

I think that there are a lot of studies that the loss of muscle mass is a pretty decent risk for any of us as we age, and there are some theories that we are starting to die after we reach 30.. and of course, if any of us likely realize that  there seem to be deteriorating effects with the passage of time, even though some people do seem to have better genetics than others, I have my doubts that we can completely ignore lifestyle choices.. even though I do consider that diet and sleep might be more important than exercise.

In regards to exercise, and the need to build and/or preserve muscle mass, there must be some attention towards the benefits of resistance training, even though some older folks (and younger folks are guilty of this too) get so much caught up into cardio, so if they do some kind of exercise that requires a lot of cardio, then they might be too tired to even attempt to carry out any resistance training.   Also, some folks who walk a lot become very good walkers, but they still might not be retaining muscle mass as much as they should do, especially when they start getting into their older years.. .. so it becomes more and more difficult to both retain muscle mass and even to build it.  .. so it could be better to at least engage in enough resistance training type exercises to at least attempt some level of maintenance.

I know easier said than done.. and I think exercise hurts more than it did when I was younger.. and I don't get as many of those endorphin-like feelings. .which may relate to stamina too.. so if you can maintain exercise for a certain period the endorphins can kick in.. and people might get that on a treadmill. .yet harder to build up to it with resistance training since it tends to hurt.

My push-ups are going better than I thought, and I am going to have to keep track in order to try to figure out if I am making progress, and my first set of pushups went way better than I thought that they would because I think that I recall trying to do pushups several months ago, and it did not go very well.. so this time around I was focused on at least trying to see how many I could do in a kind of dry run.. and it did hurt my chest a bit.. so that might mean to try to pace myself a bit in order to build up to it.. but at least I did them flat, and they were pretty full pushups and I did not have to resort to girl-pushups.. meaning doing them from the knees... after a week, I will probably have a bit of a better grasp of where I am at. .and maybe even better after two weeks.. but I am not sure if I can keep it up until $100k .. so we will have to see how that goes... but I am likely not going to end up doing 100 every day.. and so far  with 1.5 days I have only done 50 each day.. and I may or may not be able to get up to 100 today.. I don't necessarily want to push my quantity to such an extent that I end up injuring myself or that I overdo the matter in some kind of a way... "We" should be trying to pace ourselves in these kinds of situations.

I read a study that showed you begin losing muscle mass at 40.  As I approached 40 a few years ago I made it a point to not let this happen and started doing pull-ups daily along with curls, bench press, sit-ups, climbing stairs, and taking long walks.  So I've been at it for a couple years already, but when I saw the opportunity to get involved in this 100 push-ups per day thing, I decided why not add this into my routine and really push it.  Given that I've been on a muscle building journey for several years, this was probably an easier move to make for me than others, but everyone needs to start somewhere.  That's why I recommended people do the amount of push-ups that the BTC price is.  43 a day should be doable for most people and they can work their way to 100 with the Bitcoin price.  I'm surprised how much of an effect 100 push-ups a day has had on me already.  I've done 440 460 (had to bang out 20 while writing this) push-ups now counting this morning and that will be 500 by the end of the day.  I'm also still maintaining my other workouts, and have added squats to my routine.  I am going to start adding my bench press sets in with my push-ups in an attempt to be able to maintain this longer term, but urge everyone to do something.  Lets all get ripped and rich together.  Even if you start by walking 100 steps, or doing 100 jumping jacks...  Whatever you need to get you started on your journey.  Health and wealth baby!

Wait...wait a sec....you can take breaks?  Grin

Whatever it takes...  As an old hustler used to mutter to me often in the 90s, "There's no rules to this shit."
2225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins that you will be hold till next Bull Run on: February 06, 2024, 05:29:26 PM
I’m not really an altcoin guy but I have ended up with a few alts as a result of experimenting with different technologies. Needing the alts to use made it so I’m willing to hold them in case I want to participate in the future. Those coins are Ethereum, Solana, & MATIC. I think MATIC has the best value, while Ethereum will likely be the most successful. Solana I don’t own much of, but their community is passionate.
2226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please stop asking for "legal tender status" on: February 06, 2024, 05:25:18 PM
I don’t think any Americans will be forced to accept Bitcoin anytime soon. The Lightning network is unreliable and just plain terrible for use in a large country while the main layer couldn’t dream of supporting so many transactions. I won’t even go into the technical challenges for people who might not know how to use a computer… Legal status isn’t something that needs to worried about right now.
2227  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betting without losing your money/no need for deposit on: February 06, 2024, 05:22:31 PM
Stake also allows you to play their games for fun. Before playing slots for example, there is always a pop up that lets you select if you want to play for fun or use free money. While I’ll admit I’ve never played “just for fun” on Stake, I do really appreciate that it is an option and think it probably isn’t the worst way to pass some time.
2228  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who is buying like me on: February 06, 2024, 05:20:47 PM
I bought some of an ETF for my RothIRA account. Seemed like something I should take advantage of for some sweet tax free gains. I went with Fidelity’s ETF because I liked the idea that they aren’t using Coinbase for custody to diversify the space. At some point though I may decide to buy shares in Coinbase & Blackrock while switching from Fidelity to Blackrock’s ETF.
2229  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 06, 2024, 05:17:32 PM
I'm thinking of betting on the Bucks tomorrow. Perhaps they were able to rest after that loss to the Jazz, it was a disappointing loss because they ran out of gas in the 4th quarter, so Giannis will find a way to bounce back and get a win.
Moneyline,
Suns - 1.62
Bucks - 2.36

That's a good one for you. It's rare to see Bucks as underdog like that with Giannis playing.

I don't see anyone from the Suns team can stop Giannis in the paint, for the Suns to win, they need to keep their 3 point shooting at a high level which I believe the Bucks knows how to limit them on that area.
Are the Bucks that good at defending now? They are probably just at the same level on defense so it will come down to scoring more. I bet both teams will score at least 110 points.

I thought it was odd the Bucks are underdogs as well. I didn’t think the Suns were playing that great of basketball lately.

I’m also a little surprised we haven’t seen any big moves in the trade market yet. The deadline is quickly going to come and go. I’ve heard the Suns are trying desperately to get one more piece.
2230  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 06, 2024, 05:12:36 PM
I'm on a modified version - 100 sips of coffee daily until 100k (and beyond)
I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I've never had so much as a sip of coffee in my life.  I'll stick to push-ups.
I'm not saying you didn't say that but if you did say that, I do say I would have remembered.  Just sayin'

That was "what's his name" who said that:  OgNasty

I personally have been bullied by OgNasty into doing pushups, and I was going to start out with 10 per day and work my way up.. but I have already done 50 pushups today.. so maybe 50 is going to have to be good enough for the day... I am not sure.. just have to measure midnight to midnight, and if I feel like doing a few more than that will up my tally for the day.. my plan will still be to work my way up to 100 and then probably work my way back down to some number, and then maybe I will add some other exercises into the mix.. I think that it could be a good habit to do body weight exercises.. even though it can be painful.

Regarding coffee consumption:  I believe that around 8 months ago I already mentioned that I felt that I had to cut back on my daily coffees.. and mostly due to my teeth.. but also I think that I had developed some other bad habits around coffee..that had to do with what I was putting in the coffee.... .. but I am not completely against coffee.. and I do still drink it once in a while.. - just not daily.. and since I am not against drinking coffee, I may end up adding it back into my routine at some point.. perhaps?

If I’m going to be accused of bullying, this is probably the best justification to do so. There is a section of this community who is into eating meat and lifting weights, and those are the folks I’d like to get to know. I’m still on the 100 push-ups a day train. Haven’t been sore yet but I did have to bang out a set of 20 pretty late last night to get my 100 in.
2231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: February 06, 2024, 05:04:31 PM
^ Some good picks. I think I’m going with a 2 game parlay though. I like the Minnesota Timberwolves to beat the Chicago Bulls and cover the spread along with the Dallas Mavericks beating the Brooklyn Nets and covering the spread. Nothing too controversial today. I am looking forward to the Suns and Bucks game.

Anybody else taking part in the latest Bitcoin movement sweeping across social media? 100 pushups a day until 100K?

I can barely hit 40 a day. I don't want to see Bitcoin 100K while in the hospital. I will be here cheering for the participants.
I'd suggest maybe starting with the BTC price and trying to do 43 a day or whatever K the price is at.  You'll be surprised how quickly you can build strength.

Not participating but 100 a day is easy to do 😎
Ain't nothing to it but to do it!  Consider it my friend.

lulz i havent done 100 pushups in my entire life
Good lord man!  That can't be possible...  Start your journey.  You won't be sorry you did.

Pushups?
Aren't they a form of punishment inflicted on recruits in boot camp?  Cool
I think that's how they turn lumps of lard into men.

I'm a little bit shocked that NOBODY is doing this or even wants to.  What the fuck?  Maybe this needs it's own thread to find some participants?  Nobody under the age of 50 should be struggling to do push-ups on a regular basis.

I’ve never been a big Trae Young fan, but in the last week he’s beaten LeBron James, Stephen Curry, & Kevin’s Durant. No matter the circumstances, that’s impressive. If he’d just shave his head and sign to a different team he wouldn’t be half bad.
2235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: February 04, 2024, 02:29:45 AM
I didn’t get a chance to bet the games today but I’m bummed to see the Timberwolves lost by 2 last night and screwed up my parlay… Probably just as well because I would’ve taken the 76ers to beat the Nets and that did not happen.
2236  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: February 02, 2024, 08:30:20 PM
In today’s weird news. Tony Snell has come out publicly as being autistic (if he already did I was unaware) in an attempt to get signed to one more NBA contract. If he gets signed one more time he’ll hit the NBA’s 10 year mark to get healthcare for his family for the rest of his life. His kids are also autistic, so Tony is asking for a 10 day contract and going public with his health issues (and his family’s) in order to try and get a contract. This is a story to watch as time is running out.
I've read this news and the deadline is on Friday. If no team signs him up until Friday then he won't be qualified for the league's benefit that will definitely gonna help him and his family.

Any team that sees his situation could give him a hand and even he'll heat up the seat on the bench, that's no problem as long as he'll get that benefits that will help him and his family for the rest of their lives.

Mark Cuban might help but is there any spot on the roster?

It does seem like Mark Cuban would be the guy to help Tony out, but he's having all sorts of DEI issues at the moment so he'd probably face backlash for this actually...

I do hope that someone will go out of their way to sign Tony Snell to a 10 day contract today at least before time runs out (a matter of hours now), but I could understand why other owners or the league could be upset if this becomes a thing.  Tony Snell isn't a charity case though.  He's had a good career and I think he's as capable as any NBA reserve to sit on the bench for a couple weeks.

Tossing a parlay out there today.  None of these picks should surprise anyone (unlike my last Lakers to win pick).  This is a bet that we won't see another major upset today.  Smiley
Good luck to all today's players out there!

What an interesting thing to say.

Maybe someday you’ll be able to pay an Optimus robot in Bitcoin to do your housework and cook you salmon.

I hope MrCryptHodl doesn’t turn out to be a liar like LoyceV
I hate going off-topic, but since OgNasty loves spreading shit about me in topics that aren't about me, I sometimes have to. He's been doing this for years!
OgNasty doesn't like me since I didn't pick sides in his year-long feut with Vod, and he really hates me since I called him out on - as theymos calls it - his tacky behaviour when he profited 7BTC from holding Bitcoin forum funds.
When OgNasty says I'm a liar, note the lack of reference link. When I post facts with a links to back it up, that usually quiets him down for a few months again.

How was your week long ban after breaking forum rule 8?
8. No threats to inflict bodily harm, death threats.

Still claiming I stole 7 BTC after having the post where I explained that didn’t happen deleted? It is a shame anyone here respects your opinion. If they knew the full extent of your supported extortion of me I suspect they wouldn’t. Just to be clear, I didn’t steal any BTC (or altcoins) from anyone ever. It’s insane how often I have to say that considering there is literally not a single person who claims I stole from them. You’d think someone would have found a single victim if I was a thief.

One of us promotes money laundering, makes false claims, is obsessed with cornering the trust network, & supports extortion attempts; the other safeguarded millions of dollars worth of BTC for this forum, facilitated tens of thousands of BTC worth of trades for users here, donated hundreds of BTC to community projects, and has made hundreds (thousands?) of coins storing BTC for members of this forum without ever having a single funding or hack incident.  It’s crazy that you are criticizing me… Actions matter.

This just proves my point that makers who stick around to speak the truth instead of “locking the topic” are subjected to endless lies and harassment.
