2501  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ebang EBIT E11++ 44TH 45W/TH on: December 01, 2018, 06:30:58 PM
Just checked in with the site and here is where they stand. Looks like shipping has been moved back unless there is already a batch of pre-orders for January, but I must admit I haven't been following them.

3 series of Miner all shipping February 28 in the title - Generic details say the 15th. I put them all here for now, as opposed to a different thread for every+ they ad. If the miners turn out to be fundamental different in some way then maybe they need their own thread.

E11      -> 30TH/S w/ PSU 1110$  65W/TH

E11+    -> 37TH/S w/ PSU 1517$  55W/TH

E11++  -> 44TH/S w/PSU  2024$  45W/TH

Unfortunately they have so little information I'm not sure what they are doing to achieve the different hashrates/efficiencies. That's the only thing that really changes from page to page. I have emailed them for some information about that as well as the PSU they are including.

I also couldn't find anything about a MOQ, I put 1 in the cart just fine, but I didn't bother to create an account to move beyond that. The total and quantities did show properly for 1 unit.
2502  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Any Canadian lawyers willing to represent on contingency? on: December 01, 2018, 05:25:13 PM
Hey there not sure how much searching you've done or organisations you've reached out to.

You may be able to use the Provincial governments Labour board or standards office, hard to say with the title of CIO. Either way it may be worth a few calls/emails to clarify if you are covered in that manner as you wouldn't need a lawyer and it would be more of an arbitration situation.

https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/labour-standards/reports/unjust-dismissal.html

Here is a site that gives a rundown and has "preferred" legal specialists. You may at least be able to score a few pro bono tips/advice, maybe even someone willing to work for your situation. I can't vouch for this site so use and trust at your own risk.

https://www.legalline.ca/legal-answers/employee-rights-on-termination-of-employment/

They might be a good starting point. Either way best of luck in sorting this out.
2503  Other / Meta / Re: How recognized are you in the bitcointalk world? on: December 01, 2018, 04:08:07 PM
I'm not asking to be down-ranked, but there are hordes of members below me on that list that have to be more "recognized" in the bitcointalk world.  Either that, or it could be that there is a surfeit of blabbering on my part that's fooling people into thinking I know what I'm talking about and also drawing too much attention.

*Vod* Snaps fingers, and your 665 or 667 but never in between lol.

I've probably said something similar in the past, but you stand out. I think you often struggle to differentiate from the forum (which this list is based on) and the world of Bitcoin. Yeah in the grand scheme of things maybe a couple of people on the list would also make the list of known in the BTC world, but not many. However on the forum, this isn't a ban evading shitposter that doesn't fear the and know the Pentagram.

As for the rest, you hit the metrics. Posts are quality, been here for a few years, there is feedback activity. Your expertise might just be how to participate in a forum combined with using Bitcoin. These are useful pools of knowledge here not everyone can understand the computer science behind the scenes - I know I don't.

Hell I'm in the top 200 somewhere definitely a surprise, but I do spend a lot of time on the forum and participate in a lot of boards.
2504  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: December 01, 2018, 03:50:22 PM
Some of the bills I've seen/read people receiving on previous orders is insane. Especially to get hit with that in the current market condition is like a gut shot.

It will be interesting to see if these low cost hardware sales have any lasting impact on Diff. I have to think that some of those borderline profitable companies might take the opportunity to grab directly from Canaan.

Those firmware updates are probably going to be a wash. The efficiency will help some people keep miners online, and others to put more online and still be profitable, but the few numbers I saw so far cut the hashrate down about 25% I think. This is also contingent on most people getting the information and applying the update.

-14.8 with 222 blocks to go, let's get over 15.
2505  Other / Meta / Re: Is promising Merits for some useful Info wrong? on: December 01, 2018, 03:26:59 PM
Best advice is do what you feel is right. Luckily this forum allows you to do whatever you want, within the guidelines of the forum rules.

For me personally you may not want to advertise that you will merit the members or promise it. In the past this tends to attract members not looking to be useful but that are just seeing the chance to get that coveted merit so they can wear a Sig again.

If you simply post your thread and bump it daily, there is a good chance you might find a useful member to engage in the subject because they want to, not simply for the merit.

The thing is that people have stopped contributing on the Indian board because of lack of Merit Source and Mods.

Mods would better serve that board from what I understand. However if you are active there, surely you can think of an established member you could try and convince to become a source. You yourself could spend some time looking for "quality" posts deserving of merit and apply to be a source, no harm in trying. theymos has made sources for local boards with as few as 10 smerits a month I believe.

More to the quote though if people aren't contributing there solely because a lack of merit sources, then they weren't really contributing anyway. I can understand leaving due to lack of moderation as it can be trying to sift through trash for a decent discussion or relevant knowledge.
2506  Other / Meta / Re: Please mods nuke these 10 accounts on: December 01, 2018, 03:13:27 PM
Such a thing would be useful for reporting chronic shitposters/spammers instead of the now-tedious method of reporting each piece of shit post one-by-one.  ~snip~  A simple "report profile" would be nice, and then a mod could do a quick check of a member's post history.  Usually you can just look at the first page and conclude whether someone is a bounty spammer or not.

Personally I don't see the need for a new button, simply using the button that we have and stating in the report that the issue with the account can accomplish the same thing. I'd be far more interested in the indicators of reported posts and "inactive account"(for banned users). Saves time for reporters which would be nice.

The thing is to use that button as described the onus would still be on the reporter to make sure the profile is in need of moderation as opposed to an individual post. I get it it's time consuming and annoying to have to justify reporting a profile, but without due diligence this could lead to bad reports and create a larger backlog for moderators. On that note more moderators sharing in the workload - maybe even some "trainee" Mods just to help out, we could consider them "unpatched" Mods until sufficient time has passed in the eyes of theymos.

2507  Other / Meta / Re: hall finney last login time at bitcointalk.org on: December 01, 2018, 01:09:14 AM
It could be any number of things really. Could be as simple as his wife logging in and reading his post history for sentimental reasons.

More likely it could be that the account got hacked due to the previous security breaches, and was locked after waking up from a long period of inactivity. This would make sense as it was logged into the 1 time, and then nothing. It would be interesting to see how many other times it had been accessed prior to the last time.
2508  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: November 30, 2018, 10:51:36 PM
Yes, we just sent out corrected mailer before you posted this, it pulled wrong draft.  $349 for 921 @1800w

Sounds good I'll keep my eyes open.

Just checking as it seems there were multiple drafts. Price is even better. Is there a model "A" meeting those specs or where they just typos? Is that an idea of what the recent firmware upgrades can do for the 921 miner?
2509  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: November 30, 2018, 10:22:37 PM
Well just got the email from Blokforge - not sure about others. Edit: Reference to retailers.

This is 399. This includes everything tariffs and taxes - does not specify shipping.

Notably though it may be a typo they call it the 921A, and it says 20+ TH/S @1700W.
2510  Other / Meta / Re: [LOG] The ranked up members - Congratulations! on: November 30, 2018, 03:11:15 PM
Pretty sure this is the thread you are looking for iasenko. This has users who have hit the activity required but are lacking up to 20% of the required merit.

2511  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: November 30, 2018, 01:29:41 AM
That's promising. I'll have to give it a go for the 841 it would be interesting to see if this can be combined with the previously found efficiency settings playing with the voltage.
2512  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: November 30, 2018, 01:02:30 AM
we did a jump on the 16 of nov  640 pm

The last adjustment was a drop, which was very welcome.

Captain obvious but that 21 % drop would be sweet. My winter is now one if holding the mining rewards, so if we can make ground downward preferably in large leaps early on I'll be a happy camper.
2513  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The winter mining setup on: November 29, 2018, 11:24:07 PM
Must be hard to deal with the sound the miners give off when its placed in your house.

Not at all.

With the miners in the basement the noise is indistinguishable upstairs, when the family is awake and active.

In the evening I can make out that steady hum.

I did download a free app to measure the sound. Right in front of the miners I got 60-65 DB. 15 feet away in another section of the basement with no doors, i get 50-55 DB.

I'm actually looking to maybe move my 841 inside as well. Seeing how well this is working out. It will have to be tuned down though as they don't cope with the heat nearly as well. Basement is a toasty 29 degrees some days.
2514  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Holictech - Holic H22,H28 - 10nm, 8nm - Sha-256 Miner on: November 29, 2018, 07:07:25 PM
I forgot all about this one.

My guess is there were a few groups out there counting on the same Fomo as last year. So they got started early contacted and source they could to create a buzz.

However this year no one is paying 300% premiums in hardware, or throwing money at preorders.

I can see why cryptouniverse would consider this, because selling hardware is their business. If you have the chance to pick up a small manufacturer here and there it could be good for business. On that same token I wouldn't put my name on anything until I was sure, wouldn't want the rest of the business to suffer.

2517  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | 0.00075 BTC/post on: November 25, 2018, 06:45:59 AM
So is chipmixer going to raise the rates considering how much bitcoin crashed?

I wouldn't worry about it for another 131 merits or so.

.00075 BTC is still .00075 BTC last time I checked.
2518  Economy / Reputation / Re: Dig Bicks, if you have a problem with me, let's discuss it. on: November 23, 2018, 09:43:44 PM
Thank you for the kind words.  I could be gone from DT by tomorrow morning for all I know, but while I'm on the list I don't think it's a good thing to leave negs for petty reasons, and I don't think I've yet done so.  There might be disagreement about some of the negs

No worries  I feel it's important to respond to the good and the bad. Especially considering anyone with a role in this forum mostly receive the negative reactions.

It wouldn't be the first time you woke up not on DT If I remember correctly. If it were to happen again I feel it would be a disservice to balance.

I can't get over the fact that digbicks or a variety of other users have abstained from this thread. Curiouser and curiouser.
2519  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk is growing up so fast. 9 years old today on: November 22, 2018, 11:34:56 PM
It seems like it was like a frontier where anything could happen--and honestly in a lot of ways it's still like that.  Theymos hasn't introduced many rules and restrictions, and there's still very much a Wild West vibe to the forum, and to crypto in general.
-Snipped-
We all know that's the major thing that's affected bitcointalk since the early days--all the advertising and all the shitposting it's brought with it.

I definitely feel these 2 statements really sum things up nicely. The forum definitely comes with that free enterprise feel, where you can do as you please with very few limitations as far a I'm concerned. Up to and including flat out scams and abuses.
It also allows you the ability to be a fully functioning positive contribution in any way you feel. You can shop, find partners or build a business should that fit with what you want. On the other hand you can just show up and have a discussion or read, or investigate every shady thing you come across; or on the flipside ignore entire sections or people. It takes some getting used to but it's not impossible to adapt and find a place here.

It's going to be interesting to see how the forum grows alongside BTC and crypto in general moving forward; maybe celebrate 10 years with New forum software. I'm whispering

Happy birthday!!
I actually would be lying if I said I didn't wish I joined much earlier than I did

I'm sure a lot of users do, most of them though only wish they could have beaten the merit system... no vision unfortunately.

Oh dear.... we think it's bad now but it will surely get worse in the teenage years.

As long as it doesn't bring that stupid facebook forum home one day for supper... I swear I saw it eating glue.
2520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which costs needs to be considered regarding Bitcoin mining? on: November 22, 2018, 09:19:01 PM

First time/Small miner reference for getting started.

Read through that thread to get a good grasp of what you need to consider before you start mining. I will say that right now you can get used gear for a decent price. That's because if you only consider the current market right now you need low cost electricity to be profitable.

That same market allows people to consider just investing in coins and hope they appreciate in value. Most are significantly less expensive than they were a year ago, heck even a few weeks ago. It depends on the level of risk you want to undertake, your comfort level just holding coins, and whether you believe the market is still going to move upwards within the time frame you are willing to Hold.
