3041  Other / Meta / Re: People monitoring merits on: August 19, 2018, 12:38:38 AM
I am so glad this smll amount of merit received from 2 different sources was caught.

Only because this post made me laugh, I wish I had an smerit to hand off to it. I may even explain bitcoin that way the next time I'm asked. Grin
3042  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Running 3 1600w PSU’s to power 2 S9’s...? on: August 18, 2018, 11:13:30 PM
I've never done it myself. Usually run 2 units per PSU.

I would have figured that if the PSU for the control board tripped it would be the same as a PSU tripping and the unit having to cool down from ambient temps.

Obviously not ideal, but I didn't think this was an added risk of using 2 PSU's
3043  Other / Meta / Re: Guess who has 2 thumbs and turned 1 today... this guy. on: August 18, 2018, 04:56:46 AM
most people are actually saying its gotten worse here. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

You are right, I think it depends on what parts of the forum you are here to utilise. Mostly I was looking back on what I came here for day one(bitcoin mining) and where it is now.

So for me it's a noticeable improvement. There is nothing to be done about the droves of shitposters and scammers that come here daily; I just can't speak to that because it took me a long time to change lanes and explore the forum.

Start day party is over locking thread. Pm me if you want to add something.
3044  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] BITCOIN Mining Set Avalon 821 on: August 17, 2018, 10:06:17 PM
Not sure if you reached out to them but, as the seller you could have just run their offer through a currency exchange and said yay or nay.

Especially if you want a sale. You could also list a price you are willing to accept. That's one of the guidelines I quoted you before.
3045  Other / Meta / Re: Unbanned my account on: August 17, 2018, 09:28:37 PM
What funds are you talking about?? The forum doesn't hold funds for people.

A ban notice only tells you the length of ban, if it's not stated it's permanent. They also do not tell you why yy were banned.

Though no one is going to miss posts like this.

I could aske one question. That's: Have do bounty for it? And how long?
3046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bank Statement Reference on: August 17, 2018, 09:00:32 PM
I'm wondering why this information is of value to you.

Even if you find out who sent you the coins, the best they could provide you is the public address.

All that will do is show you the coins had been sent there. You can't use it to recover the wallet or the coins.
3047  Economy / Reputation / Re: Shit eaters Lauda and Pharmacist- Ban need to executed on these people on: August 17, 2018, 03:41:34 PM
What you've never chomped on a piss popsicle.
I find there's nothing better on a warm summer's day while I'm feeling delusional and entitled.
3048  Other / Meta / Re: Guess who has 2 thumbs and turned 1 today... this guy. on: August 17, 2018, 02:39:32 PM
@edwardceng
I still find the alt coin mining section pretty rough to navigate. Luckily Phillipma1957 runs a great thread consistently with lots of info.

@xtraelv

Advanced search is pretty good these days. Mind was blown when I realised it was more then an icon.

The history thread while entertaining, would have been useless to me. I was trying to learn the ins and outs of home mining. I feel the bitcoin mining section is almost unrecognizable from that time.  Which is a huge plus to someone trying to get help or information.
3049  Other / Meta / Guess who has 2 thumbs and turned 1 today... this guy. on: August 17, 2018, 04:30:44 AM
I know it works better in person. I was torn on whether I should create this thread but it does reflect on the forum itself within the last year.

When I first joined it was initially to find out if I had been ripped off on a hardware sale. Like the genius I was I created an account solely to request the admins verify an email I had against a username.... oh to be dumb and naive again.

Truth be told I had already spent 3 months researching crypto and had already been mining for 3 months or so. The reason I didn't start here was because it appeared to be a steaming pile of shit.

Trying to find basic information was near impossible and a large number of posters seemed to be talking out of their asses.

Over the last year I think the forum has improved greatly due to some vigilant MODS and an active community base that decided it was time for change. The merit system has also helped move the forum in a positive direction.

This was my first experience within an online forum and I definitely had a lot to learn. Thanks to those that helped along the way.

3050  Other / Meta / Re: [THE LUCKY LIST] Just the right amount of MERIT on: August 17, 2018, 04:14:59 AM
I feel like some most of the users on that list, have the amount of merit that was airdropped. IIrc we are 200 activity in from when merit was introduced.

So a senior member with anything over 450 for activity and 250 likely hasn't received a merit but had reached the rank prior to the system.

Maybe I misunderstand what you are calling out here.
3051  Economy / Reputation / Re: Help Sold account and got scammed on: August 16, 2018, 12:35:34 PM
Here's what you do.

Give them their money back.

Accept that the account will have neg trust because who knows when it may switch hands again.

Explain to this poor young soul that this isn't a Full-time job.

You may think that you were helping out. Have you considered that this user may use your profile and rank to cheat or swindle someone? Would you repay them if that happened?

Maybe think about how someone who is only on this forum to earn a paycheck with this "entrepreneurial" dream is bad for the community as they bring nothing of value to the space and will dilute it with garbage spam posts.

No you didn't think about that did you. Not to mention anyone you have seen sell an account and that it could be proven will have been tagged the same way, and those tags are not going anywhere.
3052  Economy / Reputation / Re: Shit eaters Lauda and Pharmacist- Ban need to executed on these people on: August 16, 2018, 11:35:23 AM
What a terribly put together complaint.

I don't even see any feedback left for you by The Pharmacist??

Did you mean to post this from another account?

Perhaps try including some fact based information or links for reference. Maybe even the rule you feel they broke to deserve a ban, or do you just want them banned because you do no like them?
3053  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to preview a new topic on: August 16, 2018, 09:05:07 AM
Have you tried scrolling up?

I know when I first started I usually scroll down to quote posts or double check what was written for my reply. I'm embarrassed to say it took me a few minutes to realize my mistake.

*Merit given for asking a relevant question, that will help in producing quality posts.
3054  Economy / Reputation / Re: Suspicious signature campaign !!! on: August 16, 2018, 08:23:02 AM
Is it necessary make 42 post, means 6 post per day. Condition is post should be meaningful.

The 42 number seemed odd, I assumed they were Douglas Adams fans.

If you check it out though, 30 of these posts are required to be done on another forum. They are only requiring 12 to be on BTCT. So there requirement shouldn't directly cause spam on this forum.

They even haven't responded to this yet.

As far as escrow goes, that's up to the participants to decide if it's worth the risk wearing the signature. Coolcryptovator did quote the part of the OP where they say they will not escrow. I think I've seen 2 campaigns to date that cut and run. Both obviously without escrow. I guess we'll know after week one.

3055  Other / Meta / Re: Action against Merit Abusers and rethinking merit system to promote good Actors? on: August 16, 2018, 07:23:02 AM
Here's my on topic portion. Merit is what it is, there are people I've seen earn a tremendous amount of merit that IMO don't deserve what they have. Then there are others who do earn what they've received. It's all about how someone else perceives the post. The Smerit is theirs to do with as they please. Again Merit is only a hurdle to the next rank, and generally that does not matter to someone unless they are concerned with SIG campaigns.

If a user decides they want to earn some merit but they hang in a particularly low distribution area, they can see if there are other areas of the forum in which they can contribute to a meaningful conversation. They will still be at the mercy of others but maybe they will earn some. There are also people out there running threads that will review submitted posts, so if they become interested in Merit they can feel free to research and find these threads.

Now why I really posted. Please correct your muliposts. I am giving you the opportunity in this thread rather than reporting it. I had to come back just for this as I see you make a habit of it. You can use the Edit button on a post to ad to it, as opposed to multiple posts in a row. This looks especially bad when wearing a paid SIG.

I have reported them in the linked thread, but asked for them to be merged.

3056  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Troubleshooting and repair guide for AvalonMiner models 721, 741, 761, 821 & 841 on: August 16, 2018, 05:56:36 AM
^^ Thanks I learned something new.

I figured I'd reach out to Canaan in regards to sourcing parts for the 741. There advice is to email them - rma@canaan.io - This is to ensure you are requesting the right replacement part.

Sounds like they have a lot of 741's still kicking around. When I spoke with them they did suggest it may be beneficial to just purchase an entire unit. This made sense as you would essentially have a spare for anything that can fail. Not sure what the pricing is on any spare parts as all miners will be outside of the warranty period.
3057  Other / Meta / Re: get banned after join in the cashbery coin bounty on: August 16, 2018, 05:15:47 AM
but it will be better if there is a warning letter 1 - 2 and 3 = banned for warning if a BTT member violates the rules

Your post shows exactly why a warning letter would not work. You show 1-2 warnings before receiving the Ban. So you already know no one is going to listen to the warning letter the first time.

Where as now I bet after 1 year, you definitely won't break that rule again. I'm pretty sure anyone else who sees this also won't as there is a large group of people only here to wear a SIG for their "paycheck".

3058  Other / Meta / Re: What do you need merits for? on: August 16, 2018, 04:54:21 AM
I need them to make some of this stuff all the kids are talking about meritjuana, it's great it cures illnesses like shitpostidia, and accountfarmingitis.

The forum was greatly afflicted by both, some say it almost died; thankfully it's on the road to recovery. Though those diseases have left their mark on the forum and are still appearing, we are on the road to recovery.

It also makes you look cool when you can score some meritjuana on your own, using skills like reading, comprehending, and writing.
3059  Other / Meta / Re: Merit? This got to be a joke. on: August 16, 2018, 04:37:37 AM
I was about to come and edit that with a great follow up. This disgruntled users post, gave me the idea.

Elder

With there only being a few for a very long time they could become known as the "Circle of Elders", nothing creepy about that.

Nah let's just call it what it is: "Bagholder" or "Hodler"

These however make me laugh more, I think Bagholder. It will bring Joy for years when someone wants to vent about a "BagHolder" because in my mind I'm still just a giggling 7 year old.
3060  Economy / Reputation / Re: 3 years back was account seller/buyer, now become Hero/Legendary with on: August 16, 2018, 04:25:09 AM
You should be helping the forum to be a safe place not choosing whom to tag.You should resign in your position if you dont have the balls.
A DT member like the pharmacist is someone who has been "elected" is the best way I can describe it, by being placed within the  trust network of 3 individual DT1 members. I might be wrong on the details, but it's not a paid position in which you can hand in your resignation letter. The DT member would have to be found untrustworthy by whoever "trusts" them.
Quote
well OP, WELCOME to bitcointalk where the cryptopolitics are worsen by these freak people who are called themselves the elders who are running this spammy place and ruling the way they want.Shitposters,Scammers,Account sellers should be tagged dont be a pussy the Pharmacist.

I can see why DT members, all of them. Do not go back several years and tag these accounts. Honestly if they were tag worthy they would have committed some other act to deserve a red tag, at the time account selling was not one of them. Since before I joined the attitude towards these activities has changed, and I'm glad as the negatives far outweigh any potential positive.

I can't wait to meet some of these "Elders", they sound creepy and cool at the same time.

OP I was quoting your original response that you have since edited so I'll assume you've seen the light. To summarize the idea as you may put out there again. This was no creative way to advance their rank, they paid a fee to have special privileges or features, on of which was the ability to earn more in a SIG campaign. I don't know what you meant about past mistakes of DT members but there are enough super sleuths here that if there was an egregious offence they would be tagged most certainly.

Mostly I was only quoting to teach you to type your response outside of the quote to make it clear who is saying what. That means type after [/quote] for you response to appear as your own. See that you fixed it.

If it matters to you, like I say to anyone tag them yourself and who knows maybe you will become a DT member and they will receive the NEG that you feel they deserve.
