3061  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BITTECH Announces New 28 TH/s ASIC on: August 16, 2018, 04:01:34 AM
Looks like they have a drawing and dreams.

Taking money now for their first product ever, the term *investomers comes to mind. Different approach to not make people wait 6-12 months to find out it's a fraud. It seems like the dumbest time ever to create a scam based on hardware with there being an ample supply everywhere, but who said scammers were smart. They are also launching a "service contract" that sounds a lot like cloud mining.

I guess I shouldn't jump to conclusions even Halong delivered, but until they have a working unit verified by someone trustworthy on the forum it remains vaporware.

The weirdest point for me is that they have 14nm chips for the "one", and 10nm for the "one mini". Why not rename the second Miner seeing as it is a new design, not really a mini.

Only the T2 Turbo is currently available (in theory - I don't think anybody got it yet) and it's less efficient than the Bittech thing.

On these chip sizes I'm pretty sure you are correct about them claiming to be the most efficient miner.

* First heard from FH, and loved the term ever since.
3062  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 21 - 1080TI's FOR SALE ORIGINAL BOXES - $450/ea on: August 16, 2018, 02:59:51 AM
Just a few questions, will you be accepting Escrow?

Also the pictures are a nice touch, if you can try taking them with your forum username and the date handwritten and placed in the photo. This helps prove you have the items in the photo.

Good luck with your sale
3063  Economy / Auctions / Re: Antminer L3+ with Bitmain APW3++ PSU on: August 16, 2018, 02:55:04 AM
I have 1x Bitmain Antminer L3+ with Bitmain 1600w power supply up for Auction.

Auction starts now & will close 30-07-2018 12pm CET.
Place bids in this thread. Highest bid at close of Auction, gets the Antminer.

I snipped out all irrelevant parts. You made a commitment to auction of the above item. You gave terms in regards to that Item. People bid and you then tell them you already sold it elsewhere.

This seems to be a common thing of low ranked accounts and hopefully DT will start leaving feedback for individuals treating the auction board and it's members with 0 respect.

If the auction didn't go the way you wanted I would refrain from using it in the future. Either use the Computer Hardware board for sales or go back to ebay.

I ran into a similar issue and am confident that user will not do so again in the future, should they I will create a thread in reputation requesting DT tag them, I would advise anyone in this thread to consider that action if they feel jilted by the outcome of this auction.
3064  Other / Meta / Re: Merit? This got to be a joke. on: August 16, 2018, 02:47:44 AM
Going from 1000 to 2000 will be easier than going going from 0 to 1000. If we expect a Newbie to earn 1000 Merit to become Legendary, it's only fair to expect the same from users who received 1000 Merit in the January airdrop.

Life isn't fair but I like the way you think, it would also be a nice way to curb the bellyaching about how ranking up is the hardest thing in the world to do.

1200 is way too low. That's barely above the top limit for Legendary (~1100 IIRC).

Agreed, it should be an acheivement.

Being as we are Bitcointalk, this adjustment in rank showing how difficult it was or wasn't.... anyone see where I'm going with this??

I propose 2016 for activity and Merit for this New rank, and I would go with something like "Mythical" for the name.
3065  Other / Meta / Re: Re: What are Signature Campaigns? is this thread closed? I have questions on: August 16, 2018, 02:26:49 AM
^^
You've nailed it the only reasons someone would have hacked your account last year are:

  • To join SIG campaigns on their own as a high ranking member
  • To sell the account for someone wanting to use it for reason 1, because of AD money on the forum accounts have a monetary value.
  • To scam someone by impersonating to be a trusted/veteran member of the forum.

Your post account wouldn't have mattered to them as long as it was above 1000, because at that time activity was the metric for achieving a new rank, such as Legendary.

What you should have done at the time it was hacked is had the account locked via the email you would have received when the email for the account was changed. The account would have then been useless to them. You obviously don't care about the account itself, but you could still make it useless to someone else by following these steps. Account recovery
3066  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should UBI Replace all Welfare Systems on: August 16, 2018, 02:15:39 AM
*Already corrected*

Anyway if i was the world leader i would just remove welfare completely and sent all the shitters to mexico, africa or some other shit 3rd world country where they die after a while.
Population is too big anyway.
Better let 500 million people live as gods then 7 billion people like beggars.
That western 6 year old mentality of everyone deserves love, peace and money is retarded.

I'm waiting for you to announce the annual competition where all these people you feel don't have the right to exist in your utopia, can compete for enough food to scrape by.
I wonder would you even say "May the odds be ever in your favor"

So of these 500 million gods who is going to be performing manual labor roles, fixing roads, or clearing the sewers? Not the gods surely!!! Oh wait you'll have a hardy group that have survived their death sentance to bestow a "lifetime of servitude upon". Sounds great  Roll Eyes

In case you only look forward and do not consider history as an indication of human behavior, this generally leads to the "peasant" or "undesirables" giving their lives the same value you do while hoards of them give that life to drag the "gods" into the streets and ......

Quote
Edit: Whoever doesnt agree is 100% on welfare
Wow, I wonder where my check is... must be a huge amount of backpay, here checky, checky, checky.
Quote
Edit2: @theymos Only stupid people have soul-sucking 9-5  jobs which doesnt earn them enough.
Its no wonder anyway because half of the population has an iq less then 90.

Good paid manual labor is mostly done by robot nowadays.

Or they do what they can in a system they do not feel they can advance in, while still wanting to provide for themselves or their family. Would you rather they quit and seek welfare? Some of those people do find a drive or see an opportunity and find a way to be happy working a 9-5 or some variation. I was about to say these are not the individuals we are here to discuss, but imagine what a UBI could do for them, pretty much( insert all benefits previously stated)

I have worked around these robots, they are great because usually you need to employ 2 people for each of them to be able to provide mechanical repairs or technical troubleshooting.
3067  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Why don't hardware companies educate people away from Bitmain on: August 16, 2018, 01:55:54 AM
^^

All the new hardware I've purchased had some card or information pamphlet. So the extra resources here are minimal, probably something like 2 cents a sheet.

Perhaps my point wasn't clear, it does not benefit any manufacturer not running there own pool to have an "uneducated consumer" find there way to a Bitmain controlled pool. These manufacturers do not benefit by someone using their hardware to mine on a direct competitors pool. I say this because Bitmain makes hardware, this is where they compete directly, but Bitmain also profits from miners who flock there and don't realize they are giving them Miner fees as a bonus.

While you are right about Bitcointalk being a great resource, it could be a few weeks or longer before someone wades through the opinions to find a useful post explaining why Miner fees are so important.

I've bought used asics that weren't reset and mined for a while for someone else.

I wish I had sold you all my used hardware. Wink
3068  Other / Meta / Re: HOW TO AVOID SPAMMING on: August 16, 2018, 01:19:55 AM
You should post this in the Beginners and Help, if you are truly trying to reach new users who may unintentionally spam the forum. It could be useful to the 1-3% of spammers.

Those are the only people that will benefit from this. Unfortunately there are very few unintentional spammers.

My guess is most of them come here hammer out there 5-10 posts per account(s) everyday of the week, trying to hide them in spam megathreads to "earn" their weekly paycheck.

Green = generous guess

Awesome, had to laugh last night when I got the notification that RVN got listed on bittrex.

Either way I love rollercoasters woohoo!
3070  Other / Meta / Re: Question about goods bought with bitcoin on the forum. on: August 13, 2018, 10:47:07 PM
Yeah it's a personal choice.

There are a lot of pro.i ent members here on the forum that are completely known. There are some that  are completely anonymous with one account or many.

Personally I joined and began to make some trades with Individuals before I even considered remaining anonymous. I feel it's the price of doing business. Especially when buying as some deliveries to my town require a name to be on the package, and a fake one would prevent me from picking it up.

You just have to find your comfort zone and role with it. If you need the anonymity others have tossed out some good suggestions.
3071  Other / Meta / Re: Re: What are Signature Campaigns? is this thread closed? I have questions on: August 13, 2018, 09:47:39 PM
This users posting is odd to say the least.

They've been giving the impression that they are the rightful owner of a hacked account from last year if I'm not mistaken.

Then there was the part about sleep disruption due to a large ETH  transaction. Huh
3072  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Should UBI Replace all Welfare Systems? on: August 13, 2018, 04:38:56 PM
Just a heads up. The Ontario pilot program is being scrapped early by the incoming provincial government.

This program was part of my basis for why politicians will be the downfall of a reasonable test or Implementation.

Don't worry though they are pushing to bring back "buck a beer"... or to  non Canadians 1 dollar beer.
3073  Economy / Securities / Re: LoyceV's Legendary 10 Month 10 Person 10 Altcoin Investment Roller Coaster #2 on: August 13, 2018, 03:46:30 PM
Looks great. It's a good time to buy in so I can't wait to see how things shake out over the next 10 months.

Now I have a bunch more coins/projects to read up on in my spare time.
3074  Other / Meta / Re: An Error Has Occurred! User stats are disabled on: August 12, 2018, 09:42:25 PM
I remember checking it out once, mostly covered things like where you were posting and topics created. Not sure what else.

I have no idea how hard it would be but I wonder if it's the type of thing that can be added to VOD's bpip project.
3075  Other / Meta / Re: RED Trust...is it enough for fraudulent work ??? on: August 12, 2018, 09:33:25 PM
Well OP you inspired me to update my topic regarding posting Tips, reading this may assist you in the future.

Go to this post of yours and remove the entire quote as it's massively long and unnecessary to your reply.

TECSHARE didn't even scam anyone.  He was booted off DT for misusing the trust system if I recall correctly.

This was one of the first rabbit holes I traveled down when I was bored and began looking into peoples feedback, both trusted and untrusted. I'm fuzzy on it but it had something to do with outing a scammer, but the way they went about it was deemed untrustworthy by DT. Most accounts I think still would have trusted them with money but not the position on DT.

This forum definitely has an interesting nuance, and some hard lines have been drawn roughly down the middle of the DT networks.

Thanks for sharing expand knowledge. its really helpful for forum members like us.I know as a DT member you have got strict rules and honestly I feel good to see that.

Each DT has their own perception of things and it can be confusing at times. In general just don't try "biting off more than you can chew" or do anything shady and you will be fine.
3076  Other / Meta / Re: Re: What are Signature Campaigns? is this thread closed? I have questions on: August 12, 2018, 07:34:56 PM
Read this to learn about SIG campaigns

1. If another user has some signatures is there a way to see how much the user has earned from the sigs?

Should you feel the need to stalk a user you can go check the thread for said campaign and check the spreadsheet this will track the payments for a particular campaign usually from start to finish. Although I'm not sure wht business it is of yours.
Quote
2. Are higher ranked users, Legendary, Full Member, Member, paid different rates for carrying the sigs?
Depends most pay different rates for ranks, some even have a different rate for Merit earned. This is usually outlined in the SIG campaign OP.
Quote
3. *snip* and had his username hijacked, and the hijacked username now has a string of sigs, and the ethernet address posted shows large amounts of eth moving through, is there anything the real owner of the username need to worry about?  If he's in another time zone on another continent will that disrupt my sleep or would that be something to do with the large amounts of eth moving through?

If the hacker was dumb enough to continue using the same address, then great for the person who got hacked. And any large ETH transaction will wake you up in the middle of the night, regardless of proximity to a computer or internet or any sense of reality.

3077  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Why don't hardware companies educate people away from Bitmain on: August 12, 2018, 04:04:17 PM
I was recently wondering why more hardware companies haven't tried every method possible to cut down on Bitmain profits. This idea is a passive way companies could still reduce new miners from joining Bitmain associated pools. At this point in time the impact may be negligible, but the associated costs of this idea are also minimal. I can't speak for all companies but I know Canaan included a little thank you/setup card with purchases; but I feel it was a wasted opportunity.

If from the beginning those cards included an educational blurb about the importance of miner/transaction fees as well as pool fees; they could have steered people in a better(IMO) direction. I know that when I started mining I spent a lot of time giving away my BTC on a particular pool that was flashy and ran promotions that made me think I was ahead. I thought I had done enough research, but had the welcome card placed a simple example there I may have seen the light sooner.

I read that sometime this year Antpool, has one payout version that included transaction fees, but with a high pool fee. With that still being a downside an informed miner may look explore their options. I'm not expecting any manufacturer to outright endorse a particular pool, that's up to them.  It just struck me as something lacking from current hardware packages.

If you'll ship to Canada I'll take the lot. Feel free to PM me and hammer out the details.
3079  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Computer Stuff on: August 12, 2018, 12:18:38 PM
Hey just wondering where you would be shipping from? Is shipping included? And is that USD?

Thanks for the updates.
3080  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Request For Help From P&S Regulars on: August 11, 2018, 10:04:48 PM
Once FH was appointed moderator I almost went on a tagging spree, under redundant/duplicate topic.

However I wanted to leave it to FH and some of the people who were active here while it was a steaming pile.

Religious topics should be treated the same as any other topic, which it appears they now have been. Unless a topic brings a fresh new perspective for conversation or is about a different religion it doesn't need new or multiple topics. Also not all religioous topics had anything to do with P&S, and on this board there should be a reasonable connection.

FH has been reasonable and provided a good line of communication, so I'm petty sure if you bring an example of a thread that shouldn't have been moved or if

The thread in question seemed to be redundant repetitive arguments but if there is genuine back and forth I will unlock it and let the debate continue.  Indecently as I mentioned if it was the OP that locked the thread I will not unlock it (unless someone can show me a forum rule that says I have too!)
