3321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should you buy bitcoin right now? on: May 18, 2021, 09:52:41 PM
it's too late to buy Bitcoin. Its value is increasing day by day.
You are aware it took around a 10% dive recently, right? Bitcoin has these dips quite frequently if you compare it to traditional currencies, which is what makes it an investors dream. If you want to make money, and by your definition you believe Bitcoin will keep increasing every day, then investing in the dips is the best way of making money.

Also, to point out another flaw in your logic. If you believe Bitcoin is increasing everyday, if you invest today, that means tomorrow you will be richer, and the next day you will be richer, so how exactly can it be too late?
3322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's never too late to start on: May 18, 2021, 09:49:53 PM
If you believe in something then you can ride out the uncertain times, my advice would be invest what you can afford, and if you intend on cashing out into fiat currencies at some point, then set a threshold where you will cash out, and don't go belong it. Treat it as gambling. For example, invest $1000, wait until Bitcoin hits 100k to withdraw. You would have effectively doubled your money. Well, a little bit more.

 So Poirier.  Lolol.  Cheesy
I really hope so. Honestly, I used to be a Mcgregor fan, and having a firing on all cylinders Conor brings much more depth to an already stacked division. Although, his antics recently have really bored me, and I just have got sick, and tired of him talking like he's the dog bollocks, when hes only won a fight against an aging Cerone in the last, what 3/4 years?

Poirier does him again, and I see him just calling it a day in terms of challenging for the title. His heart hasn't been in it in a long while. I think he'll only do big fights for money, and probably have a few more boxing matches.
3324  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 17, 2021, 02:10:42 PM
Ferguson is finished and it is even worse than I expected, he is not ready to compete anymore in top level and his body is affected with so many injuries and punches he absorbed.
My prediction for him is that Dana White will give him one more fight with some new and young prospect or some fight with other veteran to finish his contract.
I'm not entirely convinced hes finished yet, and I feel that is a little reactionary. Although, I will admit the fight did take me by surprise as I thought Ferguson was at least going to be a little more competitive than he was.

Its a shame to see legends of the sport drop off, but it is somewhat inevitable. I believe Khabib will likely be one of the only legends in the sport to go unbeaten, since they typically fight a long time after they start to decline. However, with Khabib's circumstances it didn't really allow him to do that.

Honestly, wouldn't mind seeing another Chandler VS Oliveria fight was damn close for both of them in both rounds. As for Ferguson, I'm gutted for him. Dariush made it easier than I was expecting that's for sure. I don't think we will see Ferguson retire any time soon though, I actually think he might be cut from the UFC before he willingly leaves.

One of my accumulators wasn't a million miles away, but who cares that card was an absolute blast from start to finish. Andrea Lee with the triangle arm bar was absolutely brilliant. She definitely has a fan in me from her performance.

Weigh in results...  Bontorin had a bad weight cut, so a Schnell bet could prolly be good.  And it’s funny cos Bontorin really fights at 125 and be misses weight at 135?
Not sure, but I can never really root for someone who missed weight. I'm staying away from that fight anyway, as I couldn't really determine who I think will win. I've got a pretty big accumulator on as I do every weekend. I always lose, but it at least makes the fights more fun.

8 fold with a 17k payout. Low stakes. The other accumulator is around a 30k payout for around 20 pound stake. Can't wait to lose some more money today boys, and girls!
3327  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 15, 2021, 03:55:04 PM
Right guys, big night tonight. Very excited to see a lot of these fights, and there's some tasty prelims too. Here's my predictions:

Christos Giagos (Decision)  2.00
Tucker Lutz (TKO) 5.00
Priscila Cachoeira (Decision) 4.50
Jamie Pickett (TKO) 2.88
Antonina Shevchenko (Decision) 2.10
Lando Vannata (TKO) 5.50
Fight to go the distance with Katlyn Chookagian VS Viviane Araujo 1.30
Fight to go distance with Dariush VS Old man Ferguson 1.80

As you can probably tell I'm really feeling some of the underdogs tonight. In particular I'm quite confident that Ferguson will at least be standing at the end of the fight, but I did opt to not go for a decision win for him on one of my accumulators, but its worth mentioning on the other I have him winning by decision. Oliveria VS Chandler I've decided to leave out of my betting tonight. Although, the closer the fight is getting I'm thinking that Chandler might just edge it.
3328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: May 14, 2021, 10:22:57 PM
It seems to me that some people are underestimating the effects of the back to back losses of Man United to their momentum leading to the league's Final. It affects both the players and the manager. It's going to be a highly tactical game and I'm particularly interested on what changes Ole will make against Villareal.
I don't think the back to back losses is going to be a contributing factor. Since during that time as mentioned above they played a lot of games. The only change I expect them to make is not to play Fred. Once he was taken off against Liverpool they looked instantly better. Okay, some of that is due to Liverpool dropping back a little more, but they definitely looked more fluid in the middle of the field. Unfortunately, Matic didn't play all that well in the limited amount of time he had on the field.

I think that this result shouldn't mislead people. Because Manchester Utd have no chance left for the title and they are in a good condition in the table to be able to secure their position. There is a 4-point gap with Leicester in the end. I believe that they will play much better than this against Villarreal for winning a title this season.
Yeah, they don't have a chance for the title, but the teams are paid more based on their position in the league, therefore Manchester United will definitely want to hold onto that second position. I expect them to play all their remaining games at full strength (obviously ignoring their injuries).
3329  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Traditional currencies vs Crypto currencies on: May 14, 2021, 10:14:29 PM
In decades of working with traditional financial institutions, not once have my accounts been limited, blocked, or hijacked in any ways. I have been asked once to provide proof of paid taxes, and Skrill has sent inquiries regarding the nature of my business and incoming transactions. Centralized crypto exchanges can also cause problems that result from hacking, exit scams, sudden KYC requirements, high fees... Even though there are decentralized alternatives, CEX's are far more popular that's why I am using them as an example.
The most likely infraction a user is going to run into would be fraud protection, in which you will need to confirm your identity, and confirm you wish to send the specified amount to x. I've had that dozens of times, although I've heard that these "pop up" more modern banks have less interference when it comes to confirming whether you want to send, since they do it through the app instead.

Theoretically, if your bank is hostile to Bitcoin, and is has it written in their terms of service that trading cryptocurrencies is disallowed you could potentially get your bank account limited. Although, I've heard of limited amounts of people who claim its happened to them.
3330  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin location Where? on: May 14, 2021, 10:09:16 PM
Bitcoin nodes are world wide since they aren't controlled by a centralized authority, instead they are operated by the community. If you have enough storage space, and can run Bitcoin Core you are essential a node. In the most basic terms, the wallet software you download can also operate as a node.

What do you mean by Bitcoin bots? Whatever you're referring to as "Bitcoin bots" the answer likely is worldwide.
3331  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Reputable escrow without network fees? on: May 14, 2021, 06:14:01 PM
The ones on this forum are listed over here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439910.0

I'm not quite sure what you mean by saving on network fees, but you could probably discuss the best way of going about your trades with the escrow themselves. For example, segwit addresses, lowering the escrow fee for large amounts of trades.

Otherwise, just contact a few of the escrows, and see if they are willing to work on websites such as localbitcoin. The escrows are likely familiar with a lot of platforms, so they'll know the best way about your particular situation, so just give them a message.
3332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 14, 2021, 06:09:33 PM
Ferguson is not mentally stable now and that his biggest problem is not his great fighting skills but his mental state.
I'm not sure I could judge him based on his press conferences or his general attitude in the fight game. There's too many egos talking to be able to actually determine someones mental state. What makes you think his mental state is deteriorating? I'm assuming its been influenced by the recent beatings hes taken, especially from Justin?
3333  Economy / Speculation / Re: Abolute bottom of Bitcoin? on: May 14, 2021, 06:05:05 PM
Theoretically, the bottom is $0. However, the likelihood of that happening now is very small. However, considering this is the speculation section, I would say we could potentially return to below 10,000. However, that doesn't mean the currency is done or dead by any means.

How do you measure Bitcoin's success? Only through its price value?

What if in 5 years' time Bitcoin is only $20,000 but majority of ordinary markets, stores, restaurants, spas, pubs, barbershops, etc where people go every single day are already accepting it as payment? Or what if Bitcoin has gone down to $10,000 and yet 90% of the world's population is already using it? Or what if Bitcoin has already lost all fiat value because fiat has gone worthless and Bitcoin is only measured in terms of satoshis? Are we to declare Bitcoin as failure?
Despite what many people say, Bitcoin's success is judged based on its current exchange rate. That is just something we have to accept. Of course, Bitcoin is successful in many other factors, for example its proved that we don't need to rely on the banking system, and you safely, and effectively manage your own worth. Its also proved that you can have a system that people use all around the world, while still remaining decentralized. Its also proven that there are alternatives to the capitalist world we live in.

So, for many Bitcoin users particularly the ones which believe in the technology, rather than the ones that get hung up on the price Bitcoin has, and will always be successful for building the foundation that is has. However, in the eyes of the general population, and news sources the current value is the only thing that matters when talking about Bitcoin.
3334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 14, 2021, 06:00:40 PM
He was talking that he hurt his student in training and acted like crazy while Dariush was very calm.
Yeah, I didn't like that part. If it is true, like Dariush said; that's a dick move. You don't look to hurt your training partner, and I know sometimes it can get a little hairy in sparring, but still to boast about it the way that he did, its just poor taste.

Who knows though, that might just be talk I haven't heard any reports about it, and it could have just been an intimidation tactic that back fired on Ferguson. I actually liked the way Dariush handled most of the press conference, just oozed class.
3335  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Traditional currencies vs Crypto currencies on: May 14, 2021, 05:58:07 PM
I'll be honest, most of the answers here on a Bitcoin forum will likely be in favour of Bitcoin. Although, for ease of use traditional currencies are much easier. This has been discussed before, but cryptocurrencies are still somewhat difficult to use. I don't know about you, but after being involved in cryptocurrencies for several years I still triple check any transaction I send just to make sure my decimal points are in the right position etc.

There's also the matter of fees. Fees in traditional currencies due to its more stable nature are actually fixed amounts only adjusted from time to time. Fees in cryptocurrencies are constantly changing, and evolving which means you have to check whether what your wallet is suggesting as the recommended amount is actually a decent amount to use, since you could very well be overpaying, or underpaying.

Then, if you have lent some money to your friend for lunch, there comes the issue with Bitcoin not really being used for micro transactions, because of its comparatively expensive fees for small amounts. Bitcoin isn't the answer to every scenario, at least in its current implementation.
3336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IRS now wants to Hack Hardware Wallets on: May 14, 2021, 05:49:32 PM
It's disgusting that the state are that desperate to know everyone's worth that they stoop down to such low levels to find it. Attempting to crack wallets without permission, is something a "normal" person would likely go to prison for.

This doesn't only just apply to closed sourced software, though. Open source hardware wallets now need to be monitored more frequently for changes in code, since they could try, and sneak something in without anyone noticing. We shouldn't be complacent, and trust something just because its open source.

the irs doesnt need private keys or the seed to achieve their main objective; all the need is a list of addy you control. at that point they have all the info they need as they can then monitor those addys.
Yeah, I don't believe that they intend to take anything, unless they can lawfully take it by coming to the conclusion that someone hasn't declared the correct amount of tax.

Cracking seed phrases? Are they insane, simple word, it's robbery.

I guess it's only robbery if they actually take anything. Their intentions might be to try, and break in, and determine whether someone has been paying the correct amount of tax or just general surveillance, because as we know from the Snowden leaks they love to monitor pretty much everything that they can, and they don't mind breaking some laws to do that.

I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point because if you think about it, the government probably has all the information needed to control and spy on you already, even before your introduction to cryptocurrency so no point worrying, they won't probably go rogue suddenly if you are living in a first world country.
Absolutely, if someone has evaded the government completely then I would be extremely impressed. Since, our world revolves around using mega companies such as Google, Facebook, and other Monopolies its just easy for them to gain access. I believe there was several USA phone service providers who were sharing data with the government, and that was also exposed by Snowden.
3337  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Road to Hero! A challenge to self, and challenge to yours! on: May 14, 2021, 05:32:20 PM
For those that don't believe in challenging yourself, because merit should come naturally. I personally couldn't care what the motive behind quality posts is. If someone is posting just to get bragging rights they have the most merits for the day, month or year whatever it is, I don't think its an issue. It just means we are getting more quality posts on the forum, which is always welcoming.

I'm not sure if anyone interested in bitcoin technology and cryptocurrency, in general, is worried about a rise in rank.
All of these increases come on their own. People just write and ask, they are sincere.
Most users here these days are looking to make money, and naturally the increase of rank, and merit usually means they can get on signature campaigns. Even if this isn't the case here, an increase in rank is seen as an increase in status, although I'm not a big fan of it, status within the world definitely exists. So, there are clearly many motivational factors behind increases one's rank.

3338  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a way to recover a lost wallet password? on: May 14, 2021, 05:24:01 PM
Online wallets suck in almost every instances. At least, if you forget your password with a traditional Bitcoin wallet, i.e Bitcoin Core, and  Electrum then you can always just target the wallet.dat, and try different combinations of the password that you know that was in it. Its highly unlikely you forget the complete password, you will almost in all cases remember parts of it, even if that's individual characters.

If you are referring to a wallet, you already have many answers and options (?). I still believe though that by the term "Trust wallet" you mean the app "TrustWallet" and not a wallet that you reserve your funds...
If that's the case then your only option is to contact their support through their social media or by e-mail.
I missed this originally, wasn't sure what they meant by "Trust wallet". Although, if this is the case any half decent support wouldn't give up too much information, and would still require the password. I'm not familiar with Trust Wallet, but I know other wallets still require you to remember the password, but will send you your identifier / username if you've lost it.

Using a open-source password manager?
Preferably one that operates offline, and doesn't have any online components. LastPass for example. Personally, I believe far too many users are relying on online password manages when there are better options such as Keepass out there.
3339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: May 14, 2021, 05:15:57 PM
I watched the press conference, and old man Ferguson really turned up didn't he? Came with all the jokes, and I honestly thought Dana was going to burst a lung from laughing at one point. So, I do want Chandler to win I think, but my brain is telling me that Oliveria will take the win. My heart says Ferguson, but my brain says Dariush. So, here are my predictions for these fights, no changing it from now on.

Oliveria (decision)
Ferguson (decision)

Reason being; my love for Ferguson as a fighter is too much to bet against him, while I believe chandler is a good fighter, I'm not convinced he has the experience for a title shot this early, and by that I mean UFC experience.
3340  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a way to recover a lost wallet password? on: May 14, 2021, 09:45:31 AM
Depending on how much of the password you remember its entirely possible to fill in the missing gaps. However, if you have absolutely no idea what the password is, it becomes highly improbable that you would be able to retrieve it. Generally, you want to only be missing a few characters at most.

For example, if you think your password had these characters in it: Passwrd

But, you can't remember the rest, but your convinced it wasn't much longer than that, then its entirely possible to bruteforce the rest of it: Password

It's also quite possible to guess the password if your missing a word. Especially, if you know what was in the password, but you can't remember the order of it.

Basically, there's various ways of actually getting the password, but it largely relies on you knowing most of the password, otherwise it becomes impossible. Plus, if you are looking for someone to do this for you, they are unlikely to accept the job, if you can't provide specific enough information.
