If this is to be believed, which I'll be honest Sky Sports isn't exactly the best source in terms of rumours, and unconfirmed happenings in the Premier League or otherwise. Especially, when in the article they state "another source" rather than actually naming the source. So, it could well be from one of the crappy media sites like the Sun or Daily Mail. It would be absolutely disgusting if this was true, players turning on a new manager who's only been in charge for maybe five games maximum, and isn't even their permanent manager, but a manager who is very likely going to become the DOF of the club.

Doesn't really paint a good picture for the players at the club, and I fear he might have already lost the dressing room, probably before he even set foot in Old Trafford. I don't want to be too biased, but it seems this could potentially backup some of the claims about the players actually being the problems.

Although, who can blame them. I know there's a saying of "No player is bigger than the club", but when players literally sell for more than clubs these days...

Jon Jones is not a model fighter outside the cage, but in skills inside the arena and his basically undefeated streak is more than enough to get a title shot at Heavy Weight division when he moves up. He basically cleaned up the Light Heavy weight division multiple times and there is nothing for him to prove his worth and we all know as fans that no one could challenge him in this division and the only challenge comes if he moves up and that is what everyone is anticipating for years.
Seems a right idiot outisde the cage. I just took a look at his record, and his last fight was in 2020, why does it seem longer than that to me? Feels like its been forever since we've seen him fight. I'm not going to deny that he pretty much cleaned up the entire division, and current champs. Beating DC until it was over turned, I think if I remember correctly for an illegal substance? Maybe, you're right. roughly two years isn't a awful amount of time out, though it does mean he hasn't even faced most of the current ranked names in the UFC. I know he'll likely get a title fight if he does return, and he'll probably fare pretty well against the current champion, and any possible short term champ.

I fully support the idea of moving up, that's if he does return. I'm just sure if his behaviour would be tolerated by the UFC if it was anyone else, but Conor or Bones too be honest. I think the bigger names get a little bit of a leeway there. I'm just not sure moving up, and getting a title fight is just too much. I know that's where the money is for Dana, can't have him losing against someone who isn't the current champ.

However, when is it too long for a fighter to have an extended period of time out, and not get a title fight?
2383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin celebrate 13th year birthday with new all time high harsh rate on: January 06, 2022, 12:21:39 AM
Hashrate is one of things help Bitcoin to survive in 13 years. A blockchain network need high hashrate to be strong and healthy. Bitcoin has it and its hashrate increases with time. There are capitulations when miners sell off their rigs but months later, new all time highs were reached. Bitcoin is unstoppable.
The difficulty adjusts itself based on the amount of hashrate, therefore we don't necessarily rely or need a high hashrate. I think what your thinking is more is better, but really that's only the case with nodes. I think having more nodes is better for network security, and decentralisation. However, even that has a limit in reality.

In fact, with the recent stigma with energy costs you could argue that less hash rate, and therefore less energy usage would be better for Bitcoin in the long term, and might prevent the media reporting that Bitcoin is the worst thing on earth, for the earth. I doubt it though.
2384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is unsettling, for those who don't have it on: January 06, 2022, 12:15:39 AM
Did you have any specific reason why you didn't like it before though? I find a lot of people who are against aren't really against Bitcoin, and what it stands for instead they're afraid of adopting a new system which in a lot of ways is quite a bit different to what they're used too. Plus, is probably more complex to learn, and the idea of being your own bank isn't exactly for everyone.

Quite a lot of Bitcoin users are here because they've been shafted or at least unhappy with our their bank has handled a certain situation. I'm not exactly here because of that, but it contributed to me believing in Bitcoin after having a few issues with banks. Honestly, the major issues I had with banks is they didn't like purchasing or withdrawing Bitcoin, which I felt was a breach of my freedom considering its suppose to be my money.
2385  Other / Meta / Re: Advertising and shilling on Bitcointalk on: January 05, 2022, 01:07:43 PM
This will always be the case when your on a popular website which gets traffic. They aren't necessarily asking you to spam either, they're probably thinking (at least some) that your offering a legitimate service which isn't going to be frowned upon. Advertising is very much part of our life these days its everywhere you look. I mean, its the reason signature campaigns exist on the forum, they aren't doing it because they have spare Bitcoin to throw around, it genuinely gets them more traffic. That's why you'll see most forums will have some sort of signature section, and most are using it for advertising. Even outside this forum it exists.

Though, advertising is definitely an issue here or paid hype/bumping services. We must nuke thousands each month, and they're very likely by the same people / advertising agencies since they use the same techniques, post in the same threads, and generate fake low quality conversations with each other. Also, the thousands per month isn't an exaggeration, in the last 30 days I've personally handled over 1000 of these types of reports, and I know other moderators were also doing the same. These aren't always reported either, I often watch the patrol since when they start they usually continue for a few hours.

...Or some may already have and established "army" of "promoters"  Wink
Which is very likely, and probably fairly easy to somewhat prove. Would only need to do some searching for blogs that are promoting their websites, since that's usually the method advertisers take.
2386  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 270: Ngannou vs Gane | Is Gane a good bet? on: January 05, 2022, 01:01:17 PM
Considering when I looked the other day the odds are split 1.90 a piece, Gane is definitely the more enticing bet to make. I expected Gane to have an advantage in the odds, he has the better technical ability, and has shown a pretty decent chin. However, if he does get hit by Ngannou its probably lights out. I think your basically betting against Ngannou finding his mark against Gane, but considering his footwork for a heavyweight might be a good bet.

I still fancy Ngannou to clip him a few times. Though, I'll be putting a bet on Gane since that's probably the more probable outcome.
2387  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 05, 2022, 12:53:30 PM
Adama Traore coming on in 2nd half looked like he doesn't even belong in Championship. Shocking ball control, shocking passing, he was never a clinical finisher and poor Jimenez looks like he's afraid of the shadows, but Adama has to be one of the most regressed players I've ever seen coming up from Championship.
One of the most perplexing players in the league. Some days he genuinely looks like no one can stop him. I know we've had problems against in on multiple occasions. I think its his pace, and his athleticism which sort of puts a lot of fear into people. He does usually have decent dribbling ability, but he most definitely lacks any sort of end product to his game. I think that's why he hasn't been snapped up by a bigger club, and probably is destined to remain a lower league player.

@Welsh, yeah, this squad has long needed a cleanup, they cannot fit into the mould he has and their DNA simply doesn't allow it for now. Spare a thought for Rangnick, spiritual adviser of our godhead. But long may United suffer, my best wish for them is the ignominy of Conference League and not making it past group stage.
I mean I don't mind them winning a cup now, and again. Keeps their hope while they remain mediocre Wink. Nah, I don't want to be too smug, we had a rough few years, especially in the Premier League.
2388  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 05, 2022, 12:50:50 PM
As the year 2022 started, and while we are waiting for first UFC events this year, I suggest you to make a discussion about the fight that according to you must happen this year.
Chuck Jon Jones in with the loser of the fight with Gane, and Ngannou. I don't really support the idea he gets a title shot after such a long period of inactivity. So, put him in with the loser, and if wins, then he gets his title shot. Not sure, we'll ever see him back in the UFC though, probably demanding too much money for Dana, and I think he quite likes being considered one of the best with one of the better records of the UFC, also don't think he quite fancies himself against the current heavyweights.
2389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 04, 2022, 12:25:07 AM
It's nice to see our rivals struggling a little bit, but I don't get the backlash for their new manager. Almost like they expected this team that doesn't work for each other to start instantly getting results. The players are one of the major factors to why Man Utd aren't getting any results, and it was painfully obvious going into this match, that they had little chance to come away with anything. In fact, Wolves have been brilliant all season, and I expected Man Utd to put up less of a fight against them. So, to see the backlash is kind of sad.

Obviously, I don't want Man Utd to find themselves again, because they're our rivals. Its just sad to see a manager who has manged only a couple of games get berated when he hasn't even had a chance to make modifications to the squad.
2390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 04, 2022, 12:21:30 AM
Why are you comparing MMA fighters from top league like UFC with prelim boxing fighters?
Believe it or not I know some small league MMA fighters who are fighting for few hundred dollars or euros, and they can't survive from that so they need to work regular job.
Only going to some serious MMA competition can give them finance for training camps, that are more expensive from boxing simply because MMA fighters need to prepare in multiple sports and coaches.
It's not easy to find one coach and sparring partners in multiple combat sports, so they hire separate sparring partners and coaches for boxing, kick boxing, jiujitsu, wrestling...
Just to play devil's advocate here. It isn't uncommon for lower professional athletes to be paid significantly lesser amounts. Take football, and the English Premier league in comparison to the Conference leagues or even lower. These fighters that need other jobs are likely considered semi professionals akin to that of a lot of the players in the lower leagues of football.

I will give it to you, fighters need to pay for their coaching, and training themselves. Where, in a lot of other sports its via the teams funds rather than the individual. Though, coming back to boxing I know of several boxers who when they first signed a contract, were working another job. Joe Calzaghe I believe one was one of the big boxers to talk about his early life as a boxer, and how he was still working at the time, and he went on to make it big time.

I'm absolutely not defending Dana here, and I think they probably need to be paid a lot more than they are rumoured to be paid, but I also have a slight issue with how much boxers make, especially when its only a select few while the others get comparably nothing.
2391  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk improvement proposal (BTIP)-suggestion on: January 04, 2022, 12:13:22 AM
So, I checked the forum footer and it appears to be a powered SMF software package, but you mentioned something about license that I'm not convinced of.
It is plainly stated on the web that it is a free, simple, and open source and that users can tweak it to their satisfaction. According to the wb, those who want to make adjustments can get a guide from the page.

The software even get new patch on every update, the last one was December 2021 v2.0.19 but we're still chilling on 2009 version 1.1.19 machine, looking at the difference, there should be so much improved versions rolled out for public use.
I'm not sure about the license claim, though updating this forum along with the official updates would likely break any custom modifications theymos has included. Not every single one, but because they're fairly extensive, and the modifications made by SMF developers is unpredictable, I can see it causing problems, resulting in theymos spending more time fixing things than he would like.

Plus, aside from a few bells, and whistles here, and there I don't think its a necessity to follow the official update path. We haven't had any major issues with security, so things are likely getting taken care of behind the scenes on that front. Worth noting, that Bitcointalk also offers bounties for those that can find any issues deemed severe enough.
2392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos says to stop using paper wallets, do you agree? on: January 03, 2022, 04:28:51 PM
The thing is Andreas is likely aiming this statement towards the masses, rather than those that are technically sound. While I do agree you shouldn't be speaking in absolutes, to be honest with the goal being getting average users with no technical background comfortable with Bitcoin, its best to offer advice which is the least technical, while still offering a good standard of security. I get what Andreas is trying to say, I wouldn't go as far as this statement, and instead would say that there are definitely more secure ways to secure your Bitcoin than x, however this usually requires some sort of technical know how, and has the potential for pitfalls which could ultimately lead to less secure storage despite being conventionally better.

Though, that doesn't have the same ring to it does it? His advice is sound, he isn't ruling out the use of paper wallets completely, only to those that don't quite understand the technical sides, the pros, and the cons of using one. Paper wallets are usually as secure as the person generating them.

Ultimately, our goal as a community should be providing as many people as possible with the freedom to choose what they want to do with their money, and by making Bitcoin less complex we will achieve that goal a little easier than if it was overly complex.
2393  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 03, 2022, 03:14:22 PM
It was a good goal, and we looked a little shell shocked after it. I knew something was coming, I just wasn't expecting that goal. It was hit perfectly, and while it was a slight bit of luck on it with him slightly glancing the ball, it was inch perfect. Made it impossible for Kellecher or any goalkeeper for that matter to save.

Wolves vs Manchester United, probably the most confident I've been for a game this week. Wolves will either win it by a goal or two, or get the draw. I don't see Man Utd getting any three points from this game, been far too inconsistent, with a leaky defense, and Wolves have been the opposite, fantastic defensive record, and I think they'll find it easy to beat the Man Utd defenders tonight.
2394  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 03, 2022, 02:56:48 PM
Hearing rumours about Conor fighting Oliveria, which would be an absolute disgrace that he's even given the chance, but I actually think Conor would beat Oliveria. Simply, because Olvieria tends to start slow, and eats a lot of shots. You can't do that against Conor, and unless Oliveria goes for the take down right away, he would likely get finished in the first. Oliveria has shown he likes to stand toe to toe with fighters before taking them down to the ground which would be my concern about him. Hopefully, it doesn't happen because it would be a disgrace.

I'm thinking of putting a bet on Gane to win against Ngannou, and whatever the outcome is then I'd be happy since I quite like having Ngannou as the champion, and I'm not fully convinced of Gane yet, but considering the odds are 1.90 a piece Gane is actually a pretty decent bet I think. I expected smaller odds for him.
2395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to create money out of thin air on: January 01, 2022, 05:48:06 PM
I kind of wish that someone had the patience to monitor every thread created in the Altcoin section, then determine whether the project was a scam, successful or unsuccessful in their goals. I know the criteria for success could be a little difficult to create, but I think it could be helpful to put it into perspective for new users registering, getting excited at false promises, and then hopefully avoiding the common pitfalls because of it. Though, I know this is an impossible project that would likely need a lot of people working collectively, since this quote probably applies to 99% of the unsuccessful, and scam criteria:

In other words another altcoin/token was created.
2396  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 01, 2022, 05:35:56 PM
^  Sure some fighters in the UFC do a lot of talking to hype the event.  But it doesn’t mean the matches don’t deliver full on action and entertainment.  And that’s the same whether it’s a PPV card or a regular fight night card.  A lot of times, it’s the regular fight night cards that surprise everybody in entertainment value even though name value is low.  I can’t say the same for boxing.  Boxing is like watching paint dry.  So boring now with the advent of MMA.  But I do watch the big match ups.
Seriously, I'm guilty for this at times. When we see a card full of prospects, and doesn't have any big names we usually sigh, and complain about it. Though, often these are usually the most balanced fights, and has fighters actually fighting to earn a living so we usually see some absolute awesome fights.

Boxing is an absolute bore, until you get to certain big fighters against big fighters. The problem is; those big fights don't exactly happen that often in boxing, which means your watching a hyped up fighter, bash on unproven journeyman for much of their career. Then the bigger fights avoid each other because their teams want to keep the hype train running, which then spoils it for the fans.
2397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What you think about lottery? on: January 01, 2022, 05:31:04 PM
I consider it a poor peoples tax, something which is quite close to impossible to win, yet those that are poor, and don't have other means of making that sort of money, tend to hope they'll win it, and therefore buy a ticket every week. Crypto lotteries usually aren't up to the standard of fiat ones simply because they don't have the money pot that they've at their disposal, though they often require similar requirements to be met to win.

Absolute the worst type of gambling you could partake in if your aim is to win some money. Obviously, gambling isn't exactly the best idea if your looking to win some money in the first place, but the lottery is absolutely the worse type.

I know a lot of people who go as far as saying that the lottery is a scam, while I probably wouldn't go that far due to it being pretty transparent that your not going to win, however what I find is people who aren't interested in actually reading up on the statistics, don't quite grasp how unlikely they're to win. In fact, I'd probably say most people don't grasp statistics either even though they've read them.
2398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 01, 2022, 05:27:30 PM
I'm usually not one to complain about the officiating, well not too much. However, the standard this season has been absolutely appalling. I believe the VAR has got better in some instances, and we've made some progress, but in other elements we've backtracked quite a bit. I also, don't understand the need to constantly change the rules every season e.g offside rule, handball rule, just make the rules equivalent to the most common sense opinion.

At the moment, teams are losing points because of the officiating, and its effecting games. I'll admit last year with the VAR disaster of calling stupid offsides when their hand was off side was probably worse, but something needs to be done about the personal officiating, as well as VAR. Something akin to rugby.

I felt for Watford, thought they were absolutely shafted by the ref a few times, and were unlucky not to get at least a point from the match. Spurs on the other hand didn't exactly cover themselves in glory. My accumulator is still on at the moment though, but I'm not exactly happy about how that game played out. Also, I think there could be arguments against the officiating in the Manchester City vs Arsenal game earlier in the day. Though, I probably agreed with most decisions at the time.
2399  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mainstream media eager to announce Bitcoin dead on: December 31, 2021, 07:16:53 PM
And it's something that a lot of people do not understand. So "that newfangled tech" is going to go away and things will go back to the way they were.

It's the same people who think Amazon will be killed somehow, or the electric cars will not take off, or lab grown meat, or any one of a bunch of different things that people don't want in their lives that they are happy to hear about the failure of.
People generally don't like change, and fiat has been around for as long as anyone can remember, and banks have been a fundamental part of their life. So, something like Bitcoin that completely changes how they handle their money, does definitely set the alarm bells ringing for most people.

They will adapt over time though, especially as converts completely to digital money, the cross over from digital fiat to Bitcoin won't be as big of a leap then.
2400  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Died 45 Times in 2021! on: December 31, 2021, 06:52:48 PM
I can't tell you how many times I've read/heard/been told that bitcoin was either dying or dead.  Over and over there are people out there who keep making these ridiculous claims and guess what, bitcoin is as strong as ever.  I will never understand why people like to make these claims when in fact a bitcoin death has never even come close to coming to fruition.  Long live bitcoin!

I like that art piece, wouldn't mind a copy of that to hang. I get to hear about how cryptocurrency, and Bitcoin especially is dead every time there's a family gathering. I don't talk much about Bitcoin these days, in fact the reason I had a break from the forum, and Bitcoin a while back was related to then negativity of everyone around it. So, I took a break. To this day they still talk about it being a bubble, but its been several years since they first started claiming that. If they had invested a small amount when they first claimed it to be a bubble, and kept it until now, they'd be considerably better off.
