2421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Btc ban and fud its also financial market manipulation on: December 29, 2021, 03:08:28 PM
FUD will always exist, whether its Bitcoin or some other asset. It always has, and Bitcoin will be no exception to it. Due to the volatile nature, and the complexity of Bitcoin it seems that the media are able to manipulate people a little more than they would be able to with other things.

We aren't going to change that, plus there's a certain demographic that seems to love bashing on Bitcoin, probably due to either losing money themselves or not understanding it completely. Therefore, their default reaction is they'll become hostile.

Then media should be responseble for the losses.

I wish the media was held more responsible for their clickbait headlines, and quite frankly their blatant manipulation of the facts outside of Bitcoin, but it rarely pans out that way.
2422  Other / Meta / Re: Is raffling an NFT for free breaking any forum rules in the collectables section on: December 29, 2021, 02:53:24 PM
I was told to open a thread here in Meta by one moderator.

So if I charged tickets for the raffle in bitcoin I can leave in the collectables, but if for free I have to goto the alts?
I'm going by my interpretation of the following;

Collectibles (child board of Goods) - Trades of physical collectible items ("Including physical Bitcoin coins" as the board's subtext states). If you are selling these collectibles on another site (e.g. have an online store), it doesn't belong here.

Digital goods (child board of Goods) - Trades of digital goods on-forum for Bitcoin (except for invites and accounts). If you are selling goods on another site (e.g. have an online store), it doesn't belong here.

Invites & Accounts (child board of Digital goods) - Trades of site invites and accounts. If you are selling accounts on another site (e.g. have an online store), it doesn't belong here.

Computer hardware (child board of Goods) - Trades of mining hardware on-forum for Bitcoin. If you are selling goods on another site (e.g. have an online store), it doesn't belong here.

Services (child board of Goods) - Services provided/demanded on-forum for Bitcoin. If you are providing/demanding services on another site (e.g. have a hosting site), it doesn't belong here.

Basically, all of the sections within the main Bitcoin sections are requiring the trade to be at least related to Bitcoin, usually by having it paid for via Bitcoin. Since, all sections have "for Bitcoin" or as a matter of fact the collectibles section actually states it being a Bitcoin physical collectible. By this definition its not suited to the collectibles section.

Then, I'm just trying to think where this would be most appropriate, since its a free raffle, doesn't have anything to do with Bitcoin, you could argue it could go in the off topic section, though personally I'd say that it being a NFT, while still being a free raffle it probably is more suited to that section simply because it includes a NFT.

The only reason I suggested contacting the dedicated moderators is because sometimes certain things are waived from time to time. For example, theymos allowed this thread here to remain in another section which it didn't typically suit. Maybe, due to the circumstances of it being a free raffle, an exception like the above could be made following the reply from theymos.

I'm sorry, I may have relight the fire for Conor discussions. I've seen the photos, and he's definitely looking a lot bulkier around his chest, and shoulders. Not exactly sure what for, if he moves up it just seems like hes avoiding the 155 division due to the people that's beat him recently. Surely, if he's going to return he needs to prove he can beat them first.

Conor doesn't deserve a title fight, and I think it was Justin who made a comment about it recently that he would just pack things up, and throw his toys out of his pram. Obviously, I'm paraphrasing there, but I would have to agree. It would be absolutely disgraceful if Conor got another title shot, even if he fights one fight before getting the chance. In my opinion, he needs to go through the rankings again, he has dropped a considerable amount in a lot of peoples eyes.

Lost a lot of respect as a fighter, person, and he didn't really have much of the latter in the first place. If hes coming back he needs to do it the right way, and rediscover whatever hes lost in the last few years. I'm not ignoring that Conor will always be relevant due to his stature in UFC history, but he absolutely doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a title fight.
2424  Other / Meta / Re: Is raffling an NFT for free breaking any forum rules in the collectables section on: December 29, 2021, 02:34:42 PM
Thanks for the reply....but why would it be moved to the alt section when there are collectable items sodl with alt coins?

Also it is the collectables section after all, regardless of what is being sold or raffled, and an NFT is a collectable item.
If you were selling tickets for Bitcoin, that might mean its more suited to the Bitcoin section since the collectibles section is indeed in the main Bitcoin marketplace section. The only other option is contacting the dedicated moderators there, and see what they think.

Personally, I would think if you were selling tickets for Bitcoin, then you could probably put it in that section without much of a problem. Due to it being a raffle for free entries, and then the actual thing being raffled being more related to altcoins than Bitcoin, it probably does fit in the Altcoin section better.

Many things in the collectibles section aren't strictly related to Bitcoin, but are using Bitcoin as a method of payment, and therefore are on topic in that section. Its a bit like the services section in that regard where services could be related to theoretically anything, but must be accepting Bitcoin as a payment method to be on topic.
2425  Other / Meta / Re: Question for all moderators on: December 29, 2021, 01:38:08 PM
Do you delete a post or lock a topic every time you are wrong, is that a real solution?
As been pointed out your post wasn't deleted, but merged. Most moderators use the
Code:
 [hr]
to split up the merged posts. Sometimes moderators will leave a note in red, depending on who edited it.

Is this forum made for people to help each other or just to promote some sites and bookmakers?
Without knowing the original intention of Satoshi, it's become a place where you help others out, as well as promote certain services. That's the point of the marketplace section, usually.

Is it real for you to support and continue to advertise bookmakers like 1xbit? A boomaker that has scamed thousands of people, they can still be promoted and advertised.
This is generally quite controversial, but scams aren't moderated probably because moderating scams would open up a can of worms, which would be a headache to actually navigate correctly. So, instead there's a trust system implemented that the community can work together to warn others of a potential scam.

Usually, scams are sussed out by the community, and there's threads made, as well as flags.
2426  Economy / Speculation / Re: What about 2022? on: December 29, 2021, 01:27:25 PM
Don't know about you guys, but it seems there's always a lot of complaints about missing out around here, and while the price is currently low, isn't that the best chance of gaining extra Bitcoin that you wouldn't have had without the dip? I'll be honest, I'm not that bothered if we don't see any major surges this year, and just collect as much Bitcoin as possible before a surge in 2023/2024.

I believe 2022 will be the accumulation year. Last time I predicted like $20k in November, but the price seems just not making a serious move. I'd like to see the pump but we already get so much profit last year so it seems too good to be true. I'd say BTC mainly will stay at $30k-40k level and will gradually get higher because of economic growth. There won't be another serious pump before the next halving, but that's just my feeling not based on some quantitative method.
I'm thinking roughly the same as you. A chance to accumulate before a major push in a year or two could be what we need. I'm not fussed on the idea of constantly pushing the price up too soon. I have faith in Bitcoin in the long term to become more valuable, as well as increase in price by a lot more than it's currently.
2427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: December 29, 2021, 01:24:27 PM
It is because of this I think that in the case Usyk beats Joshua, which is the most likely scenario, Usyk will not go for the fight against Fury immediately, he needs more experience and to refine his technique even more if he wants to beat Fury, the difference in their size is significant and Fury will use it to his full advantage, now even if Usyk took that time there is no guarantee he will beat Fury, but at least I think his chances will improve slightly, so there is a chance that is the path he will follow.
You mean even more delays in the heavyweight division? Probably right. It seems like we'll never get the fighters in their prime, fighting against other in their prime fighters. I can see Fury retiring before these fights are even made, Joshua collecting more losses, and Usyk becoming the dominant champ without really being challenged by the best. Wilder likely probably goes back to fighting inside America against other American fighters. Whyte, Delboy, and Parker all retire, and the division then becomes irrelevant, and not worth watching for a long time.

We got spoiled with the Fury, and Wilder fight because at least we got a big fight. Despite it largely being utter dominance in favour of Fury.
2428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people sending transitions to Satoshi's first bitcoin wallet on: December 29, 2021, 12:58:54 PM
I'm convinced this won't happen within this or the next decade. There may be FUDs, but it won't realistically threaten Bitcoin to the point they will start reversing public keys.
Almost certainly, won't happen in the next ten years. Several decades to have a quantum computer capable. Then, it likely wouldn't be the priority of such a device to attack Bitcoin, and would likely be limited to government. Its likely that it wouldn't be a direct attack on Bitcoin, but rather the addresses being considered insecure once the device is around, since it could be attacked at any point.

Despite the FUD going around, quantum computers are no where near threatening Bitcoin, and if we consider the pace that the development of quantum computers is going at, it definitely won't be in the next ten years.
2429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people sending transitions to Satoshi's first bitcoin wallet on: December 29, 2021, 12:55:45 PM
This does not come under the definition of donation. Sending your bitcoin to an inactive address means that you are throwing away your money.
Better give that money to some poor or the needy , rather than sending them to this address  Sad
Technically, assuming that the address will never be accessed again (though read the above response by o_e_l_e_o ), you could argue that it's a donation to the rest of the Bitcoin network by reducing the total amount of Bitcoin, therefore in theory making everyone's Bitcoin more valuable in the long run.

Though, that's probably not the reason they're sending Bitcoin to the address. I imagine its for telling the story at the local pub.
2430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 270: Ngannou vs Gane | Is Gane a good bet? on: December 29, 2021, 12:51:10 PM
Everything you said and there's a bit of an EGO problem with Ngannou, at least by the way I see it. Gane, on the other hand, is a rising star and he would be preparing more seriously and Ngannou has just 1 weapon and that's power while Gane has more stamina in case the fight goes to later rounds where power won't be that big of an issue.
Ego isn't always a problem, I mean look at Conor in his prime years he probably had the biggest ego going around, and not only that was arrogant about it too. Obviously, its back fired later in his career, but that's likely because of him finding motivation elsewhere in the world rather than primarily relying on fighting. I think Ngannou proved himself against Stipe enough to consider him as more than a one trick pony, though Gane is by far the better technical striker. I still think Ngannou is going to surprise a few people, and take the win home.

I often see UFC fights especially Gane, he is no stranger to heavyweight betting in the UFC from throughout Gane's career, what I have seen Gane so far is still the idol of many people, Gane's history is quite impressive for UFC lovers.
Yeah, Gane has lost me a lot of money as I've doubted him many times before. Proven me wrong each time, usually pretty convincingly. Still, I'm going for Ngannou Tongue.
2431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 29, 2021, 12:04:05 PM
It was as you say, very solid performance from reds in first half but they missed a lot of chances, that penalty plus rebound from Salah and that Mane chance are a must score. Afterwards it was more difficult and Leicester managed to contain them well.
The part of the game I was actually disappointed in terms of performance was immediately after the goal, and for around 10 minutes after. That's the only time Leicester looked settled. In fact, watching the first half I was absolutely convinced that the Leicester City defense was going to gift us a goal because they kept spilling passes, and making poor decisions.

Mane should have scored when he skied it. Salah should have really got the rebound at least, though it was difficult because the ball sort of hanged in the air. I thought Jota with his half chance of a volley should have at least got it on target. We were unlucky with a few headers, including VVD who probably should have done better.

The performance was there, and as long as we have our shooting boots on we probably win that game convincingly. I'm not too concerned about our performance, I'm concerned about Manceshter City sort of falling into a lot of luck recently, and Chelsea to be honest. Chelsea should have lost their last few games, and have been bailed out a few times by the opposition making some truly bizarre decisions. Though, the tackle on Salah last night was pretty bizarre from Ndidi I'll admit.
2432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 29, 2021, 11:59:53 AM
The only fighter I can  think of who probably wasn't included in the tiers according to the business times is Conor Mcgregor. Yeah, he branched out, and invested elsewhere, but surely he was being paid more than 3 million dollars per fight. Unless, UFC does have some sort of limit based on a tier, and Conor was getting most of his money from sponsorships. I know for low level stuff unrelated to MMA the sponsorships can be high, so I can't imagine the figures they'd be offering for a broadcast watched by millions every week.
2433  Other / Meta / Re: TheBitcoinTalkShow - First episode is here! on: December 29, 2021, 01:02:37 AM
As far as either audio bitcoin podcasts or video content (podcasts or otherwise), I surely classify myself as a consumer, and I have quite a bit of non-interest in terms of getting involved in participating in putting out content in either of those modes (even though I have had some people who are quite persistent in suggesting that I should get involved in something like that, including in real life.. ).. Anyhow, I applaud people who are able to put out decent content whether video or audio or both, and for sure I have learned a lot about bitcoin from those various mediums...and also helped me in my own understanding and content sharing attempts through participating in this forum.
My personal preference would actually probably be audio format. I tend to listen to more podcasts than watching video content. Though, I've noticed even podcast production has gone up, and usually includes some sort of visual element now be it either a video of the actual people talking or an animation.

1) The channel is progressing with the first video uploaded 2 days ago as the subscriber count has grown to 64 where it was stuck to 39 after the teaser launch.

2) It has 353 views including mine in just 2 days whereas the teaser still have 450 after 2 months also which means 78% have come in two days only which is perfect growth.
Which I believe for a new channel is pretty decent. Undoubtedly the channel would've received a helping hand from this forum, but I imagine most users here would've likely forgotten or not bothering to follow the thread, and therefore I imagine there's much more organic views on the second video than the first teaser. So, despite the video not really bothering to touch upon anything specific at this time, I expect once it starts specifically targeting certain topics, and therefore keywords those numbers will go up even further.
2434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 270: Ngannou vs Gane | Is Gane a good bet? on: December 29, 2021, 12:57:12 AM
Heavyweight fighters are always going to be explosive when set in the cage. These are two big dudes who still can lift themselves and move like a lightweight. The most memorable fight I've seen about Ngannou is with Alister, it was heck of an uppercut. But against with also a powerful Gane, you will not see the fight going to be dominated by one only. Maybe Ngannou or maybe Gane.

Well, not always the case with heavyweights. They might be explosive for a round, but due to the amount of weight they're actually carrying its not uncommon for them to become a boring fight. I don't think we'll have that problem with Gane he seems to be able to handle long rounds, and conserve his energy. However, Ngannou is definitely at risk of tiring himself out, especially if he becomes frustrated at Gane's movement which I think will be the decisive factor in this fight, whether Gane can keep the distance, and frustrate Ngannou making him waste energy or if Ngannou can close the distance, and put Gane on the canvas.
2435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 29, 2021, 12:54:06 AM
(This is just my opinion, not an argument, I fully respect your opinions)
Yeah, I get that you make good points. Although, the released figures are likely speculation based on news sources, and probably aren't confirmed by the UFC. I would imagine that the UFC have it contractually tied up to talk about the exact figures. Though, we definitely do know that its on the low side. The only that's really confirmed is the bonuses on the night.

I'm not trying to make an excuse for Dana here, I'm 100 percent on the side of increasing the wages considering what they do. I'd probably be on the side of asking for reductions in Boxing, and other sports though. Although, to be fair UFC fighters are criminally underpaid if the reported figures are to be believed, when you compare them to other professional sports.

Though, she definitely has more money to her name, as well as other fighters since they also get sponsorships, and we know that the sponsorships pay fairly well. I wouldn't be too far taken back if the sponsorships are paying fighters better than the actual production.
2436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 29, 2021, 12:50:00 AM
Bloody Liverpool, I'm trying my best to not be reactionary. Though, it does seem like the idea of a title bid is slowly drifting away. Although, Man City haven't always looked the best at times during this season. Only recently have they looked to solve their goal scoring issues. Plus, I think they've had the luck of the draw recently with playing against weakened teams. Still, the result tonight wasn't a good one, in a game we should be winning by three or four goals if only we could have finished them.

It actually wasn't a bad performance when you consider the amount of chances we created, but missed. Just wasn't our night, I'm sure Manchester City as well as Chelsea will have days like that.
2437  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: December 28, 2021, 12:35:29 AM
I appreciate seeing the link to the debut episode, and surely I am having some difficulties imagining how such a series could be sustainable in video format - because of course there is some good content, yet presenting it in form of video will be interesting to see if sustainable.... and yeah, I am not going to poo poo the effort because I had already noticed that there have been some proposals about how to accomplish such.
Yeah, I kind of would agree that lower production usually isn't expected in the beginning of the channel, at least several years ago. However, to be able to compete nowadays on Youtube specifically you need at least acceptable level, but the higher the quality the better the response. The bar for content on Youtube has been set very high, which is a little mind boggling considering all the low quality stuff on it especially anything with any kind of substance, but high quality production seems to be of a higher priority than the actual substance behind the content.

I'm used to seeing channels go from low quality production, but very good quality then as the money starts to roll in it'll go to higher production, but then sacrificing quality of content since they cater to their audience rather than their original goal.

Although, I have to give props to the effort shown in the early videos, and I'm hoping it absolutely continues, and sees success along with it. Though, I think its natural to worry about whether the high bar initially set is going to hinder the amount of videos being released, and therefore viewer retention. Though, hopefully as time goes on the team behind the Bitcointalkshow will be able to adjust, and find a nice middle ground.

I think that Cyrus is always uptight
Weird, all the interactions I've had with Cyrus, albeit limited I've always got the opposite impression. Although, admittedly I'm not the host of the show who has deadlines to meet, and getting whacked by Cyrus' stick Cheesy.
2438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: December 28, 2021, 12:24:41 AM
Hmm, I actually never considered this angle. Zaha's been consistently one of my favourite players in the past 4 seasons or so, always pick him for a goal or assist now and then, but never really considered his booking history.

Only other player I can sort of classify as the same is Shelvey for Newcastle, or Lucas Leiva for Liverpool/Lazio. They're useful for harrying and winding people up, but are somewhat liabilities as you say. I'll start paying attention now on that.

I always go for Shelvey, Zaha, and Milner when he gets some game time especially against faster players. He's quite clinical at pulling off necessary, and unnecessary fouls off. Another would probably be Xhaka when he does get to play, though I haven't put that bet on personally. Tananga for Spurs also looks like someone who might be quite handy at picking up cards. Yeah, Lucas did pick them up quite often, at the start of this season, and last season Thiago was also quite the liability for yellow cards, but has seemed to step off the peddle a little bit, and get better at the type of fouls that draw cards.

I quite like the booking lines out there, can bring some good odds. Especially, when its a player like Milner who doesn't always play all the minutes.
2439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: December 28, 2021, 12:21:48 AM
Half a mill ain't that much, at least not for her to retire and not worry about the future. And when you switch careers in your thirties, after you have been doing it for more or less 15 years, that half a mil goes by fast. Not saying she hasn't earned anything, just saying it isn't something you can retire on by its own.
Entirely, depends on your lifestyle, and how much you own at the time of earning that half a million. If you already have an house, and you've paid most or all of it off then half a million is more than enough to retire on at 30. Of course, you won't be living your life like a king, but for most people that would be enough if they continued with their current life style.

Despite UFC fighters not getting as much as boxers, and is often complained about they still get paid a lot of money by normal people's standards, and the fighters themselves despite complaining understand how much the bonuses are, and you'll often see them stating how life changing it has been since winning one.
2440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 270: Ngannou vs Gane | Is Gane a good bet? on: December 28, 2021, 12:18:37 AM
I'll likely be going for Ngannou since I expect the bookies to have Gane with the shorter odds. Though, Gane probably is the better bet in terms of probability, I just think as long as Ngannou can put on the pressure, he'll be able to land big on Gane. If Gane can manage the distance, and stop Ngannou from getting a heavy punch in, then he probably wins this fight quite comfortably. Though, Ngannou vs Stipe proved that Ngannou isn't a one trick pony, and knows how to deal with fighters looking to keep their distance from him.

I remember how the Gane vs Lewis fight went and I'm sorry to the Ngannou fans (I'm one of them) but I don't see how Francis wins here unless Gane gets loose or makes a mistake and gets caught mid-air. I want Gane to win as well because he's kind of an underdog and I want to see guys who work hard excel rather than raw talent.
I'm not completely on Gane yet, and I think while this step up is probably needed for the division to be spiced up, I actually think Ngannou's best chance at beating Gane is now due to the timing. I would think that if Ngannou does beat Gane, and there's a rematch it probably would go to Gane who would be able to adjust better.
