2341  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A solo Bitcoin miner just won block 718214 reward worth 6.25 $BTC on: January 16, 2022, 06:38:39 PM
With the current exchange rates, it is like $270,000. I am not sure how much he/she might have spent on the mining equipment, but it should be lower by a magnitude of 100x-1,000x. So this reward is like hitting a lottery jackpot. LOL.. how this miner would have felt after coming to know about the reward? BTW, a few other factors might have contributed to his luck. China hashpower is completely wiped out due to hostile government action. And then there is the ongoing unrest in Kazakhstan, which has knocked out another 15% of the global mining contribution.
Difficulty adjusts based on the amount of hashrate though. So, while these might have effected things temporarily, don't mistake this for permanently making it easier to mine a block. Its an incredible feat to be able to mine a solo block these days even with the issues you mentioned.

Depending on this persons situation this could either mean a nice retirement fund or a ways of investing more. Either way, I wouldn't mind waking up to that figure.

People are making this out to be some kind of miracle, but it is not.

Consider the Powerball lottery. The odds of winning it are 1 in 300,000,000, yet somebody always seems to win. That's because of the number of people that enter.
It's all relative. Since, while yeah winning the lottery is expected every few weeks, that's because of the sheer amount of people that enter, and the point your making is definitely valid i.e the amount of miners mining, this sort of thing is expected from time to time. However, its still a pretty nice return on the mining equipment you invested in, so while this isn't a miracle in statistical terms, this could be a life changing amount of money depending on who actually mined it.

West Ham are probably one of the better teams which struggle with constant inconsistency. They're infuriating from a betting stand point, because you just aren't sure what they'll do next. Hearing that Rafa has been sacked by Everton. I'd say from a Liverpool stand point, his tenure was one of the best in recent memory for them.

Liverpool doing well today, and performing above my expectations, without the main two I was expecting a 2-0 victory. I've got renewed while AFCON continues, so hopefully we don't drop any points, win our games in hand, and we might still have a chance to challenge Manchester City or am I a little bit too optimistic?
2343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 16, 2022, 06:28:10 PM
You hit most of them except that Calvin Kattar. We expect too much from Chikadze and every time we do it, it seems the opposite is what's happening just like with Nunes the last time. Worse is that we bet huge money to earn from the odd 1.4 for Chikadze.

From prelim to the main card, there is no KO in UFC Vegas 46 but Viacheslav Borshchev vs Dakota Bush fight.

Brito also let me down, especially because within about a minute or two of the first round opening, he basically carried his opponent willy nilly then proceeded to gas out the rest of the rounds. Kattar did fantastically well, I guess I was semi correct in that he didn't want to get punched up as much, so instead of being folded, he decided to fold his opponent, and my good what a beat down.

Bit of a reality check for Chikadze, which will likely help him with his career rather than hinder it. He was getting too far ahead of himself by calling out Alex.
2344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 15, 2022, 06:35:27 PM
Looking forward to the first UFC event of the year. It feels like forever since I've watched some. Here's some of my picks for tonight:

Giga Chikadze (TKO, think Kattar has taken too much damage, and suspect he doesn't want to get punched in the first as much as before)

Jake Collier
Brandon Royval
Katlyn Chookagian
Joanderson Brito
Brian Kelleher

Left out some of the other fights as I'm not quite sure how it'll go. Definitely not confident on the Pickett vs Holmes fight. I'm expecting a knockout, I just don't know where its coming from.

Here are the vids of thr weight and the face off.  I thought Kattar would be way taller than Chikadze.  Kattar could get finished for the first time here.  If not, later rounds could go his way.  Chikadze has a questionable gas tank.
My only concern really. My prediction by face value is Chikadze via TKO. Although, when I sit down, and have a look at the odds I'll be going with the best value.
2345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 13, 2022, 10:27:26 PM
I've probably got to tone down my Pool pick too... heart says Jota and Firmino are good enough (and the latter did enjoy a backheel goal in FA Cup) but I don't think I've actually seen him, Jota and Minamino play together... we also don't have a full midfield so yeah, this could be tight.
Based on the performance tonight, I think caution should probably be taken. Though, I have a gut feeling, and a bet riding on a 2-0 win with Jota scoring at anytime in the match. I think that's pretty probable. Brentford going through a rough patch at the moment, and conceding a lot. Shipping 3/4 goals recently, however we're significantly weaker without Mane, and Salah so I'm actually feeling the 2-0 here.

Obviously, I haven't bothered to put in predictions since pretty much the start of the season so don't take my advice Cheesy. I'm predicting a CuJo, Henderson, and Fabinho midfield. Milner being used tonight against Arsenal pretty much confirmed this for me.

Glad he surely did, I don't know what is Muslim Salikhov true reason and why they canceled the match and rumors now are spreading like wildfire that Michel Pereira is not worthy for him to be his opponent or just ditching out because his camp knows the true potential of Pereira, for whatever reasons I don't like the spreading rumors if this is true, and from that fight, I am ready to bet for Muslim Salikhov, but for ditching such fight I will surely not consider giving him my bet, but again Rumors are just rumors if it's not proven,

And just in the News, the Pub that the Irish fighter Conor McGregor Dublin pub, The Black Forge Inn, was attacked by an unknown assailant who threw petrol bombs at the premises, then later police confirms that there are also pipe bombs seen outside the Entrance, well knowing that this is Conor McGregor's Pub, and the assailant motives is surely unknown but it may be because the real target might be Conor McGregor after all, but during that attack, Conor McGregor is not present on his pub.
I'm pretty sure I read that Salikhov has Covid, and therefore had to withdraw. Though, for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it, and I'm not hundred percent its accurate news. Although, I expect that's probably the most likely reason, and I expect to see more, and more fights getting cancelled this year due to Covid. That's why any bets I'm going to make will be closer to the fight probably on the day to prevent my accumulators being made pretty much redundant.

I see reports are that no damage was done which I'm quite surprised by since you'd think a petrol bomb would cause a little bit of damage even if the assailants managed to miss, you'd still expect it to cause some sort of damage even outside the pub. In all honesty, this is very likely a couple of teenagers that wanted to gain some fame or bragging rights to their friends. Not sure, if there's any other motive in this as they probably would've guessed that Conor wasn't in there at the time. Could have been devastating if it did actually do some damage though, depending on how many people were present it could have been absolutely disastrous.
2347  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 13, 2022, 12:13:59 AM
Bye bye Firefox
I absolutely hate the modern world, and how everyone has to follow the same agenda i.e looking good to their customers. Looking like they care about the world, when really they're cherry picking things that they can do away with, but as mentioned above the very thing they cater to; the internet uses a tonne of resources, and will likely keep increasing massively in the future.

I just wish some companies were inspired, and brave enough to try something against the grain, and instead of removing something that is perceived bad, start to change the opinion of the population, and who knows even contribute to bettering the technology itself. You know, like a certain Cryptocurrency creator did...

Its very likely that this perception of the general public about how bad Bitcoin is to the environment, and how it effects climate change is partly the reason why its taken a little fall. I'm not really complaining too much about that to be honest, I get to earn a little more Bitcoin than I would have if it stayed where it was at, and I'm confident in the future we'll actually be able to largely reduce this reputation. Its just annoying to see brands, and services I prefer coming out with nonsense like this. I know they haven't completely removed it yet, since they're conducting a review, but they likely will after they feel the pressure from the public.

2348  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: January 13, 2022, 12:06:55 AM
I actually think Chelsea could still challenge for the title this season, and also Liverpool if they can survive the coming weeks, and keep building those points up. I for one don't think Manchester City is good enough to keep up their winning streak. They've looked vunerable several times this season, but have just managed to do it at the right times. That good fortune will likely run out which then allows Chelsea, and Liverpool to challenge for the title.

I think top three has probably already been decided though, unless Liverpool implode completely without Salah, and Mane. Its probably going to be a battle for that fourth champions league qualifying spot though. Several teams look likely to be battling for it at the end of the season.

Kane is deteriorating seriously and it's becoming a big problem, not just to himself and the club but his career....
He looks very unhappy most times and it seems he's not ready to stay any longer in the club,(since he made this confession and was denied the grant because his contract was already renewed for the season)
I think he also wants to experience other club sides and maybe boost his career a little farther if he could, maybe possibly get the balon do'r
I've always thought he was a little over rated. Don't get me wrong a fantastic player on his day, but he's definitely not going to be in the running for the Balon Do'r. Although, that's a pretty terrible way of determining the best players, as they've proven time to time their bias, by selecting popular players that's good for their brand instead of the deserving winners.

Probably needs a change. I can't see him moving to another Premier League team unless its City. Though, if that does happen Tottenham probably get a decent offer since of English tax, and the fact that homegrown players are needed for registration.
2349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto betting vs Fiat betting on: January 13, 2022, 12:01:09 AM
Depends on the odds usually I find they can differ somewhat. Though, I tend to find myself betting in fiat instead of Bitcoin just because I value my Bitcoin more than my fiat. I also quite like long accumulators with insane odds have actually coming in. So, for that to happen I've got to have a gambling site which allows winning more than most Cryptocurrency sites allow.

Also, you still can keep you holdings even if they are in the casino account, which is also good to catch the bitcoin ups when they come. One possible disadvantage is  that bitcoin and other may be expensive to move sometimes.
Definitely not recommended though. I'd say even if you trust the website your using, you should be keeping your winnings in a wallet that you own that you generated yourself, and therefore only you have the private keys too.

Ideally, you should only be depositing the amount that you want to bet at the time you want to bet it, that way it prevents spending more than you would have liked i.e feeding a gambling addiction, plus it somewhat protects against loss of coins.

The fees are generally quite acceptable these days.
2350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 12, 2022, 11:55:53 PM
The only bad performance for Kattar would probably be that Max fight. Though, I'd argue it wasn't terrible from him, just outclassed on the night. Max just seemed on a totally different level that night, almost like whatever he did would go right for him. Though, if I remember correctly Kattar didn't start off terribly.

^  Nope, I think this event is a banger even after the match cancellations.  But from a betting perspective I think I’ll just have a 5 leg parlay from the bouts I’m interested in.  So with where the lines are at right now, going for Benitez, Brahimaj, Brito, Royval and Chikadze would be lined at 10.98 or so.  Add the co main to that with Chook and it will be 16.90.   Not bad imo.  10 bucks to win around 160 then bet the whole 160 on Ngannou for the next event.  Cheesy  It’s the degen way.
Royval is my confident pick of the night. Other than that, I think the others will be pretty close. I'll be going with Chikadze, and Brahimaj though.

There should be a Muslim Salikhov VS Michel Pereira fight but it was scrapped after Muslim Salikhov's team reported for undisclosed reasons the fight was Canceled, and right now Michel Pereira has shifted his fight to UFC 270 and his opponent will be Andre Fialho.
Glad hes got a bout soon. He's probably one of the entertaining fighters in the UFC for me. Okay, he definitely makes stupid decisions, and sometimes they can lead to some dangerous back flip stomps, but at the end of the day that's what makes him stand out for me. Also, because he likes to play Mortal Kombat in the cage, he tends to gas out towards the end of the second, and the entirety of the third round. So, he's always susceptible to losing despite obviously having immense talent.
2351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 12, 2022, 11:52:23 PM
I know I have a soft spot for Coutinho so I've always wanted him to do well, despite the way he left Liverpool. I'm relieved that a talented player like that has been given the chance to recover his career. I think Steven Gerrard is the perfect manager for that, since they've played together, and obviously had a mutual admiration.

Anyway, my predictions are; Liverpool 2-0 against Brentford. They've been shipping a lot of goals for a while now, and while Liverpool definitely won't be at full strength, I think Jota might be able to pull us ahead. I'm also fancying either a 0-0 or 1-1 between Chelsea, and Manchester City. Chelsea have been nothing short of brilliant recently, after going a rather lengthy period of underwhelming performances, and most certainly lack of attacking threat.

I also fancy Aston Villa to beat Manchester United either 2-1 or 2-0. If anyone watched the game in mid week its an absolute miracle how Manchester United won that game considering they were pretty much getting opened up with every attack. I expect Villa to take their chances this time around.
2352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: January 11, 2022, 11:37:44 PM
I'm hoping with the display from Brentford tonight, Liverpool will make the most of it while they're missing Salah, Keita, and Mane. They've looked to be losing their form as of recent, and we need to get them back for the reverse fixture where they stole some points from us. I'm thinking a 3-1 victory with Jota getting in on the goals.

If there is an unimportant cup for top clubs of the Premier League, it is definitely the EFL Cup. Because that one has a much lower quality than the FA Cup. Maybe FA Cup is not as prestigious as the Premier League of course but it is the second biggest tournament in England I believe. The top clubs are trying their best in their tight schedule. And there haven't been much surprise in the FA Cup when it comes to its winners. Generally, the top clubs have won it so far.
The only real difference is; the FA cup allows drastically smaller teams to play against bigger teams, and therefore can pull off a giant killing. Although, this does get romanticised about a lot, its been a while since smaller teams have gone on to win it.

Wigan Athletic probably the smallest to win it in the last decade in the 2012/2013 season then probably Portsmouth before them. We do get smaller teams beating bigger teams, but they rarely end up going on to win it.
2353  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Traffic Stats on: January 11, 2022, 11:31:10 PM
I imagine the low amount of traffic from Asia, and a few other countries is because of VPN, and Tor usage. Partly related to the censorship that these parts of the world are subjected too.

I don't think that Russia blocked Bitcointalk forum at all, we have many members from that country and their local board is one of the most active in forum.
Just to make sure I visited Bitcointalk from multiple locations in Russia, Sankt Petersburg location and it worked very smooth opening all pages and browsing the forum.
Ratimov and his fellow local members can confirm or deny my claims.
Here's a archive of a news site which talked about Russia banning Bitcoin related sites, I'm assuming that Bitcointalk was one of them at this time.

So, assuming that this is still the way Russia is handling things, they'd be required to use a VPN which would skew certain statistics. Though, even theymos unless he manually combed through the IPs, and tried identifying the VPNs wouldn't be able to tell you exactly how many Russia users are using a VPN.

They could also use Tor, assuming Russia hasn't tried to block Tor too.
2354  Other / Meta / Re: [NEW EPISODE] TheBitcoinTalkShow - Second episode is here! on: January 11, 2022, 11:20:16 PM
Fair play. I really didn't expect this sort of quality. You know when someone says to you they want to make a Youtube channel because they heard its good money, then you kind of just roll your eyes in the mind a little, because they never really intend on putting in effort, and instead just want to reap the rewards.

The way your going about this has really given the opposite effect, and should just be applauded. You've done a fantastic job, and long may it continue.

I think one spoiler alert is enough for this post Cheesy
But don't wanna build up too much buzz. It's nothing that grand.
One low key Tesla it's then Wink.

I would have loved to have commented with my username, but I'm degoogling my life and have deleted my Youtube account.  Apparently you can't create a new one without linking your phone number to it, which I'm not willing to do.  Props to Cyrus and whoever else was behind the new vid!  I'm looking forward to more.
Yeah, and I believe certain content is behind a linked credit card to verify age now. I've tried degoogling if you will for a long time. Recently stopped using Gmail, and got a custom OS on the phone that gets rid of Google apps. However, I still somewhat rely on Google with Amazon, and its almost completely impossible to avoid them these days, since most websites go through them with Google analytics etc.

Anyway, before getting too off topic; Viewing the videos contributes probably just as much without an account than with one. Subscribers don't really earn channels money, its the views, and ad click rate. Though, having a higher subscriber count might help with the algorithm that Youtube users, not sure. Although, it probably considers views first, and foremost due to that actually being the bread winner for Youtube, and channels.
2355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 11, 2022, 11:14:11 PM
Just watched some highlights on the Brentford vs Southampton game. Seems Brentford are starting to fade away from their honey moon period, and starting to feel the pressure of playing in the Premier League. I think they'll stay up, but I think they're going to struggle in future matches to get some points. Liverpool next.

Coutinho, back in EPL, and under Gerrard. I always wished he'd stayed on. I guess he would never have suited Klopp, so it all worked out in the end, but yah never thought he'd come back actually. Thought he might even have gone to Germany, but I wager he's a good fit for Villa and if he gains his confidence back, he's more than a worthy successor to Grealish.
I've been trying to think back, I'm pretty sure he played extremely well under Klopp did he not? I remember the quote that Klopp came out with (paraphrased): "stay here, and they'll build a statue of you. Go elsewhere and become just another player" it was something along those lines, and looking back Klopp might have actually been spot on. Coutinho at the time I'd say was our absolute best player, and a personal favourite of mine.

Judging on that quote Klopp would have definitely preferred to have kept him. I mean just for his free kick ability. Whenever this man stepped up, I was almost celebrating the goal already. He was absolutely lethal. In fact, he's the only player I remember in recent memory of putting the ball under the wall to score so effortlessly. Its funny because this isn't really a common thing to do, yet most teams in the Premier League now try, and protect against this by lying down a player in the wall.
2356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 11, 2022, 11:07:37 PM
Of course Fury wont agree to fight under MMA rules. We already had a fight when a pure boxer tried himself in MMA. Try googling James Toney vs Randy Couture. It was one of the easiest fights for Randy. If a wrestler or MMA fighter knows how to defend from punches, then a boxer knows nothing about takedowns and submissions.

Fury and Ngannou are just making jokes. If Ngannou has some series plans to have this fight to happen, then Fury is just trolling. Ngannou will earn from this fight, but Fury wont get anything from that.
I wouldn't want to see them fight with MMA rules actually. It would be too unbalanced, at least with boxing yeah Fury has the upper hand, but there's still that present danger just like Wilder. It was quite clear who was the better boxer out of those two, but Wilder still landed several big punches on Fury. Ngannou could do the same. In MMA Ngannou would likely have a field day.

Ngannou seems to be chasing money, and I'm not sure its a good look considering he's fighting pretty soon. Its looking more, and more likely that Ngannou is becoming distracted by earning the biggest money bag, rather than focusing on defending his title. Gane seems to me like the best pick considering this. I like Ngannou, and I'll still probably be routing for him, but it does seem like hes destined to go to boxing, instead of sticking around in the UFC.

I think the problem with Egypt is; they aren't as solid as the other teams, yeah they've Mo Salah, but they aren't even using him in his best position. Seems to be played predominately as a center forward, which don't get me wrong he's suited to it, but playing on the right instead of the center suits him better, because he loves to cut in.

Seriously, take a look at his highlight I bet most of the highlight reels will show him cutting in, and taking a shot or passing with his left. He's been largely ineffective when Liverpool have played him as center forward, and we have better delivery than Egypt does.
2358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 11, 2022, 10:58:50 PM
Philippe Coutinho has signed with Villa. Never saw that coming. Kieran Trippier has also gone to Newcastle. Wonder if the Geordies will sign a big name this year. Not sure I'd put Kieran Trippier in that bracket.
I used to love how Coutinho plays, so its nice to see him in the Premier League again. Whether or not he'll gain his previous form from when he was here last will remain to be seen, but I think it was quite obvious to everyone watching at the time, he has something special about him. Since leaving Liverpool his career has taken a massive downer though.

Trippier is a decent signing, probably the best they can get considering they will likely be battling for relegation. I know they pretty much have unlimited money, but not all the top players want to be earning money, they also want to be winning trophies.

Usman seemed to have his social media hacked again, saw some noise about it on some of the podcasts I listen too. Seems to be not the first time its happened.

It seems all the best fights recently are getting cancelled. Hopefully, the Izzy vs Whittaker takes place as that's probably the most exciting fight for me. Volk news is unfortunate.

Yup, sad.  I was looking forward for Salikhov vs Pereira.  I was picking Salikhov as a slight underdog.
Can't argue against that, I'd be going with Pereira as I'm a fan, but his flamboyant nature usually means he starts gassing out somewhere in round two, and then in round three he's usually pretty destroyed at that point.
2360  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 08, 2022, 12:44:54 PM
I'm hearing that the Michel Pereira, and Joaquin Buckley fights are off. Shame, probably the two I was most looking forward too, especially Michel's as I'm a fan, despite him having a very suspect gas tank, and a little bit flamboyant, though I guess that's why I like watching him as do so many others. I was looking forward to seeing how Buckley bounces back from his kick into fame, and then hitting a bit of a rough patch before returning with a win. Would like to see him to start to kick back into gear.
