How long since you last logged in? It doesn't tell me the password or email have been changed recently.

3342  Other / Meta / Re: account is banned again on: July 01, 2018, 04:01:02 AM
The ban was never temporary. There was a configuration issue with the ban system that's now been resolved.

You should have checked out a few of the other recent bans, not that I expect you to search before posting considering, you not the account are banned.

There was a temporary issue in which the bans on (I think) all accounts was lifted but it was rectified.
3343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: First rig construction issues on: July 01, 2018, 03:28:37 AM
Most of my cards don't run the fans unless they are being assigned work. Until I start my BAT file they just sit there.

You should also be able to see how many cards your system sees. Seeing as your system was used and already set up I would try letting it run, once the cards start work they should fire up.

A tip for posting, this belongs in the Mining (alt coins) section. This is where all the GPU mining discussions take place.

Reported to MODS to move, or in the future you can scroll to the bottom of the thread and select move topic on the left hand side.

Not sure how familiar you are with Canadian history but sounds like you want to take a step back into the Fur Trade era.

Your idea is essentially Pemmican; and it had been used for trade as it was nutritious and could last for years if stored properly. As for being able to carry it around and eat it at the same time as bartering, a grown man needed nearly a pound of it per portion iirc.

Viable option if you should find your way back to Canada in the 1800's.

Here's a recipe just in case.

So back in my bowling days 3 strikes was a turkey.

So with all this turkey talk, let's make a 3rd happen.

We are just 14 minutes and change past from midnight on that first block (based only on the first announcement here) pretty close to as much time as possible.

Edit I figured I worded it properly, much better way of stating it clgrissom3
3346  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] T9+ under warranty [Still available] on: July 01, 2018, 01:05:49 AM
I am located in Manitoba.

At the moment it is not listed with a power supply, but that could be negotiable.

per post. Maximum payable posts per month: 3000.
Miscellaneous: Constructive posts only.

I love this part most of all, 3000 max, but please keep them constructive. I'm sure they would  Roll Eyes, and I'm sure every post would have been checked.

I'm really surprised other forums haven't caught on to this yet--it'd probably wreck any forum that did it in terms of post quality, but I don't think it's common knowledge that bitcointalk is a signature campaign hub.

Well it's definitely common enough to the hoards of people coming here with only, the prospect of earning, not learning in mind.

It is funny that in part due to the idea of not monetizing the Forum from an admin standpoint, the members have monetized it on an individual level. (Myself included)

I know, I just give the benefit of the doubt, and try to help potential buyers marks not get taken in.
3349  Other / Meta / Re: Multi account questions on: June 30, 2018, 08:18:24 AM
Well my memory can be shit, so as long as you keep it bright in your SIG I'm sure I'll remember at some point.

Next year, I guess winter 2019 will be the first pump.

If it was easy everyone would do it... well actually do it not run a scam "coin".

Good luck, I'll keep an eye out.

I guess, I should stop hijacking OP's thread, they're probably lost right now.
3350  Other / Meta / Re: Multi account questions on: June 30, 2018, 08:11:57 AM
Well hit me with a PM when things start moving forward or once you have a space for discussion.
3351  Other / Meta / Re: Multi account questions on: June 30, 2018, 07:54:07 AM

Sometimes I forget who I am - I'd be no good as a scammer. Smiley

Anyway talking merit is starting to get boring, pruned nodes are a bit more interesting at the moment. Now 'pruned merit'  would be an interesting concept.

Well it's good to know what your bad at.  Wink

I see your interest in Thermocoin, is taking you deeper and deeper, you may have to introduce one of the many Merit trackers to this pruned Merit concept.

Are you actively discussing Thermocoin anywhere?

Yeah I got the email the other day also ... maybe I'll try to get my 10BTC back after all Smiley

What's yours is yours.
I wouldn't leave it out there. It can help offset the BTC you set aside for the giveaway.
3353  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Baikal Giant+ on: June 30, 2018, 07:06:01 AM
How about instead you try and have a transparent trade...

Let's start with posting photos of the equipment with a handwritten date stamp and your username.

Add to the OP your asking price... I don't care how high it is, but how ridiculous is it to not put a price in a sales ad.

Then just for fun... actually not, how about a mention of forum escrow.
3354  Other / Meta / Re: Multi account questions on: June 30, 2018, 07:01:28 AM
The majority of the Alt accounts that you see tagged received this because the holder of accounts did something to deserve this.

Maybe under account A they scammed someone, or tried to and got caught; or maybe were abusing a SIG campaign. From there any known( or highly suspected) ALT accounts get painted in RED. Usually along the lines of "known ALT of Account A"

Sometimes people also catch someone using multiple accounts to try and perform multiple functions in a trade situation or some other untrustworthy action.

Apart from that many users here have ALTS, and as long as they don't do something stupid can roam around with them.

I you have more than one account, it is best to register the fact on the reputtion board. This minimises the risk of confusion and fraud accusations. For example, this is the alt of Jet Cash.

A few months and the secret is free to any and all, lol. I thought this account only discussed Merit.

Silent26, is referring to Loycemobile, and Talk merit. I must have snuck in while they were posting.
3355  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: June 30, 2018, 06:28:24 AM

For every 1 post deleted you lose your signature for a week. For every 10 posts deleted you lose a merit. (That is worst for grandfathered accounts that only have minimum merit for their rank).

That's interesting but what about the users who may have engaged in a real conversation at the beginning of, unbeknownst to them, a topic that would become a spam megathread. Say they now only post periodically and not where the merit drops. Should this person come back one day and see they are no longer the rank they had achieved.

There would also be situations where a board was more liberal in it's interpretations of off-topic, but under new moderation they lose a number of posts.

I don't think there will be any arguably fair system to demote the garbage posters who get to hold a higher rank, without dragging in innocent users who deserve their rank.
3356  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Searchtrade Account on: June 30, 2018, 04:07:33 AM
You should also place this ad here: Invites and Accounts

Secondly you should delete the duplicate AD you created.
3357  Other / Meta / Re: Most forum members need assistance to learn on: June 30, 2018, 03:44:27 AM
I've been here a short while. Over time I have used this opener " well I'm no genius" a little less. That was my segway into either stating what I think/know and opening myself up for learning. Overall you can find everything you need here if you look and search around. Unfortunately most people want to be spoonfed something instantly, rather than put in the effort of looking.

Imagine if they had to use a library and read an entire book... scary.

The problem is that most of the Newbies here are only becoming concerned with learning enough to get Merits and get a bump in pay for the next SIG campaign. They actually put more effort into "learning" to game the merit system than they do learning the ins and outs of crypto.

You are right about how Shitposters are not limited to Newbies, you can see a ton of accounts of all ranks who are garbage and have been suckling at the advertisers teets for years, because it was easy to do. They will continue to enjoy that opportunity until they do something to get their account tagged. Consider it early Bitcointalk  adoption.

I will try and update references for you but members like Pugman, and Jet Cash do have some threads out there promoting learning in the ways that you describe, I'm sure there are others I just can't think of them.

A simple bitcoin Q/A. Learn new and interesting stuff about bitcoin.

JetCash There is a link in the Signature that is helping members improve there english to contribute meaningfully to forum discussions.

Beginners & Help While sometimes overun, it still has useful information. Some elder members also frequent there to try and help.

If you look around you will see that there are a lot of posts being created/replied to by knowledgable members they are just in more technical areas or boards that have not been inviting to shitposting in the past.

As far as it being up to the senior members to try and lift up the forum to their level, I don't think it is, unless they want to. They shouldn't have to go out there and create a topic to try and drum up reasopnable debate unless it's something they want to talk about. I think it is up to the Members who want to learn to research, and then ask questions either to clarify for themselves, or ask if they don't know.

3358  Economy / Goods / Re: Prevention is better than a cure. Please escrow. on: June 30, 2018, 02:54:35 AM
Great suggestion, thanks for the heads up. l guess the important question/issue is how to find an escrow. How do you verify their track record and commitment. Giving out credibility points for every successful transaction/a rating system will certainly help

Well your post gives the impression you read the OP...

Maybe go back and look again, as the list is right there in a hyperlink "An escrow list"

You will find all you need there

I think Elaine (firetreeactual) got hurt pretty bad in the Mt Gox disaster...She's one I can recall that got caught up in that mess.

Damn, that sucks. Well from what I've been seeing (dealing with the island issues) they carry an optimistic outlook on life, and after the last couple months could use some good news.

I started a thread and someone in there brought some Reddit info, as to what the payout scheme may be.

I'm hoping it stays up to date and eventually gets some concrete numbers.

actually your math is wrong; having 4 blocks in a row over 150% the probability is very low; not every 20-22 blocks like you want to tell us;
My math is correct and is also based on the last 5 blocks ... as it says ... and as the web site says.

Also read the parts in bold red.

I don't predict the future.

Calling Kano out on math... why not just challenge (insert legend name here) to a ( insert legends profession) ... excludes Michael Jordan in MLB  Grin
3360  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Mt. Gox screw you over... Maybe not so much anymore on: June 30, 2018, 02:37:39 AM
I thought that latest December 2017 ultimate Bitcoin crash was due to ultimate corrections and cost me everything because i bought my bitcoin at the price of $19,000 then with no choice i sold it at $9,200 but when it was revealed that the crash is not a correction but was due to Mt.Gox events then of course like many other we have been screwed by this exchanges. I believed that the hacking incident is just a drama but the truth is they are one of the big whales and want to sell their Bitcoin at the highest price.

That sucks, I did find it interesting that there was a snippit about the price correction( I still believe this) being blamed on MT. Gox panic selling to pay off creditors. It may have played a part, but the ATH was driven completely by FOMO and that can't be ignored. I'm just over a year into this world, and I stopped a lot of people from getting into coins in December I didn't hold enough until the ATH but I did ok.

Someone there may know more than they are saying that is true, the other article I quoted did speak about other charges that had been laid in helping move the BTC around, and how the CEO came under more scrutiny when they "found" 200,000 in cold storage, hard to forget about something like that.

I stumbled upon this the other day:

https://www.reddit.com/r/mtgoxinsolvency/comments/8uoa5g/do_we_know_the_total_amount_of_btc_claims_from/

Nothing seems to have been confirmed at the moment, but the current proceedings seem to be infinitely better than $500 per Bitcoin lost. All things considered, this is probably the best case scenario for those affected. They definitely still got screwed though as they could have kept the full amount if this didn't happen.

Thanks for adding that, it does give an idea of what people could come to expect. It will be interesting to see if the 500 per BTC remains in place with the bankruptcy proceedings being halted.
Yeah anyone who was known to cash out and not HODL will have done all right with the price increase especially if it starts to climb again as they receive their payout. It's hard to look back honestly as hindsight is always 20/20, but would any of these people held onto everything they had on the exchange? or was it there to sell? I bet a small percentage had BTC there because they bought it to HODL, a larger percentage had it there for day trading trying to grow the bag and pull out small profits. The remainder where probably miners trying to sell to keep running.
