You should look at cryptouniverse, just in case.
741 is 100 euro with shipping in July, and just email them for a custom shipping quote it's way cheaper.

Its a great deal if you can find a spare 200 kicking around.

Is there a chance that is what happens when a larger miner has a bank of machines go offline?

Just a guess
3424  Other / Meta / Re: ANATOMY OF SCAMS on: June 17, 2018, 10:00:41 PM
Nice topic, well thought out.

I would change the title to ICO scams though.

There is an abundance of scams out there, and I dare say the more profitable ones on average are the fake online stores. They always have an address, usually a website registered within the last few months.

These were big during the climb last year (I can only speak from July onward). The sell was that they had the equipment everyone wanted, and somehow at a reasonable price or even a sale.
This brings me to my biggest rule of thumb for a scam... If it's to good to be true it probably is. (attributed to unknown)

Some of them were so blatant to not even try and hook you with the price they charged a massive mark up, and still ripped you off. I saw a lot of these during my hours hunting for equipment and got really good at identifying them, usually through a google search of the address.

The websites were even spruced up with Live Chat support. They didn't like being asked why they were sharing space with whatever business really owned the storefront. Grin

Others include using Paypal or Ebay to do the dirty work for them with the promise of Cryptos... but I'll stop there as I said there is an abundance.

3426  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Question about Bitcoin in the Philippines [English] on: June 17, 2018, 07:39:28 PM
Thanks for the information; and the correction.

First sorry I do not speak Tagala Tagalog.

As to converting cryptocurrency to fiat currency, majority of Filipinos used coins.ph (5 million Filipinos and still counting), which only convert BTC and ETH to PHP as of the moment.

Volatility can affect your propose remittance service, e.g., Steamtyme remitted worth 10,000PHP at the time of remittance activity to theyoungmillionaire, however, when theyoungmillionaire received the remittance it went down to 7,500PHP due to its volatility and some conversion fee. Nevertheless, you can try it, mate, and I am sure you can find some ways that might work.

Yeah the volatility of markets is definitely a concern in this venture. Mostly because I would hate anyone to lose value during the transfer period; although the opposite I'm sure would be greatly received by anyone  Grin

The blue part is most helpful, as it lets me know what to expect for the timeline involved in people receiving their crypto. This may be a good reason to look into using ETH as opposed to BTC. The biggest risks so far will be for anyone who sends larger amounts in regards to volatility, but more often than not the price should be stable enough to make a transaction.

Again thanks for the information.

3427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Overview of Universal Basic Income Crypto Projects [18 Projects Listed] on: June 17, 2018, 07:01:29 PM
Just wanted to keep the thread alive with an update.

A few weeks ago I registered for some of the easier ones, and when I have time will take care of the others.

So far receiving Manna, and swift.

Whether any of these projects takes off it is neat to see on the swift page the random things you can buy from others, or that you can yourself offer.

Anyone on the fence you really don't have anything to lose, why not try them out and help build support for these projects.
3428  Local / Pilipinas / Question about Bitcoin in the Philippines [English] on: June 17, 2018, 05:02:33 PM
First sorry I do not speak Tagala.

I live in a community in Canada that hosts a large Filipino community, most of whom are working here to send money back home.

This brings me to my question. How well adopted is cryptocurrency in the Philippines? Is it easy for a local to convert say BTC, and LTC into FIAT?

I want to consult/offer the service of sending their funds home via crypto to reduce fees, and timelines with waiting.

Any insights into the system would be great.

Note: At this time I am not looking for a partner.

FYI - Kani.is is not allowing logins and the stats on the main page are displaying question marks.

That's okay kano.is is just fine Wink

Edit: now that I see your picture in my quote it looks like you typed in your login info improperly
3430  Other / Meta / Re: Justin Dowman using multiple accounts to bump his thread? on: June 17, 2018, 01:43:12 PM
It's hard for us to prove he is using multiple accounts and bots to bump the thread.

Most of these look like the generic 1 line garbage you see posted in tons of threads.

What is blatant is the users lack of proper post formatting. Below is their generic bump.

For detailed info find me on telegram @mcay10

Then 2 minutes later a reply post

Hi there, it is very interesting for us.
Could you answer on that, please?
Quote
Is the current function of the BOT only to distribute Airdrop tokens?
It doesn't distribute tokens. It gives referral links to your users and they can invite other members to the group and get free tokens. You will receive their ID, emails wallet address

These could have easily been put together. Just looking through the page there are a few examples of the problem you've pointed out.

Edit: decided not to edit the quoted post

Don't have 220-240 at home. I have it in my shop for my welders but Wifi issues preclude my setting them there yet. with some shenanigans I can pull 220 in here but I gotta watch for management in this Senior Park.....They'll have a cow if the find out what I'm doing.

Do the opposite run a long run of ethernet, it will probably be more reliable than your WIFI anyways. That's what I did to my garage where it was already wired for 220
3432  Other / Meta / Re: Another Trash, trashing the forum. on: June 16, 2018, 04:28:57 PM
I tried to lock this topic and report him/her to the moderator, but I think it's not enough to report him because he/she still continues the spam he/she's making.

I'm just concern with the forum and the community and in my understanding you're not able to copy paste post to different threads and sections unless if it was translated because it will result as a spam.

Moderators do get around to dealing with these problem users when they get around to it.
They have a backlog of shitty users to deal with, it is best to just take the advice as given and not expect immediate results.

Use the "report to moderator" button give an explanation in the space provided and they will deal with it accordingly. If you feel the problem goes beyond the one post mention that and they will look into it.
If it is a case of plagiarism you can also post your findings in this thread by LoyceV

The problem with everyone creating threads like this over and over everytime there is an issue is that it gums up the board unnecessarily. If you don't notice any action then feel free to take additional steps but it usually isn't required. When I see these threads I generally just think people are looking to get Merits or recognition for something that can be done without receiving either.

EDIT: Anybody wanna buy QS' phone number. (ONLY KIDDING)

That made me laugh, I like that you can keep your sense of humor about this.

Can you shed any light on the PM that was produced about selling the account?

Maybe you don't care and are just going to keep doin you; either way inquiring minds and what not.
3434  Other / Meta / Re: Trust ratings! on: June 15, 2018, 11:36:26 PM
Trust and Bans are 2  different sides of the forum punishment coin.

Banning - Removes your access to be a member of the Forum. You are no longer allowed to post here for violating the rules of sharing information here. This is done by the forum staff/admins.

Trust - This is a system of the people, so to say. If I think you are acting in an untrustworthy manner I can tag you with negative trust. If I make a trade with you and it goes well, I leave a positive trust.
Unfortunately this system is poorly used as people don't look into non trusted feedback to pull back the curtain a little. So if you have a bad experience you pretty much have to get a DT member to tag them for you so that it shows up on their profile.

Invoking also makes a good point about how it can be manipulated, but a lot of new users wouldn't notice this as they don't look into the system enough
3435  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ALL S9's are a waste of Money on: June 15, 2018, 11:09:32 PM
I guess if you shutdown all of your it will leave more profit for the rest of us.

Also any miner is profitable at 0$ electricity cost, so you may want to rethink your rage out a little.

That being said I will partially agree that depending on your mining plans/operations there are better miners out there. This discussion though has happened many times over and goes beyond your reasoning.

3437  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IQ Scores Are Dropping Because of Environmental Factors on: June 15, 2018, 10:49:46 PM
I feel a greatly underated movie "Idiocracy" illustrates the breeding aspect in relation to IQ.

Overall though I think that is a small part of the puzzle. While the environment you are born into and the people raising you will be the main factors of your development early on in life. It really only takes a spark of interest in something to push yourself further and strive for a certain level of understanding and intelligence.

I think the greatest factor dumbing down our society is social media and a lack of real time investment in the sciences and arts.

You may not think both are required but each open up thinking and understanding in a way that pushes intelligent thought. Rather than being concerned with what actor or actress is banging/marrying/or divorcing another celebrity, we could focus on say a medical breakthrough or how a massive rocket launched a roadster into space and then landed it's first stage boosters back on earth to be reused... this is huge by the way.

Unfortunately it's really easy for someone to sit there on their phone and be influenced towards the easy garbage being fed to them, it's harder to try and learn or research something.

Sorry got a little ranty there, in short yes environmental factors are very influential in early development, but later in life it is our laziness that prevents us from being more "intelligent" ( I use this in place of IQ as there are many forms of intelligence in my opinion)

I would think technology is to blame.... easier access to information makes people lazier.  In my day, I had to walk to the library in the snow in barefeet, 10km uphill both ways, only to find the book I wanted was already "checked out".  (That's right - books used to be hard copy and limited in quantity.)

:/

Are you sure it wasn't tablets in your day...

3438  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account sold or hacked? on: June 15, 2018, 09:58:27 PM
I think the issue has more come down to did you try to sell this account? Did you lose access to this account, and the sale was attempted then?

This all just sort of peaked my interest and I've noticed that the account has now been tagged. Others have pointed out the significance in you applying for a SIG campaign, which it appears you are still wearing one.

It just leaves a lot of questions out there.
3439  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account was sold Proof on: June 15, 2018, 08:33:39 PM
I was wondering could you post up the whole convo?

It might be nice to see where it started and how it progressed to a potential account sale.

Maybe just put it all in the thread LoyceV linked.
3440  Economy / Reputation / Re: Gleb Gamow account sold or hacked? on: June 15, 2018, 08:26:36 PM

I'm 58, bud. I'll seriously consider having decency when I reach 60.  Tongue Tongue Tongue I was using the same password across all my alts, thus a couple of less-used ones were compromised which theymos was kind enough to help get back in my control. I'm now using a hard-to-crack PW - *MrG0@tFuck3r!.

Can't say for sure maybe this account was momentarily compromised as well, considering the "one password to rule them all" approach previously applied.

Seems like a crazy rookie mistake to send the PM and whatnot from the account, regardless of what the potential buyer requested.

Was this dated around the same time as the chipmixer application? Could it all be chalked up to an eccentric being an eccentric.
