421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The most logical and profitable game on: January 06, 2024, 12:01:18 PM
I know that basically gambling is based on luck, but we can use tricks or strategies so that we don't spend a lot of money and can still win, even if it's only a small win.

In general, in my opinion, there are several categories of games in gambling such as house edge games, sportsbooks, slot machine games, live casino games, and lottery. In your opinion, which game do you think is the most logical to win? and what is the reason?

If you are looking for the "most logical" game to win, then I suggest that you focus on either sports betting or card games such as poker, etc.

The reason on why sports betting can be considered as a game with a high chance of winning is due to the factor of game knowledge. If you have the knowledge and information around a certain team, then you can at least forecast on which team could win in the given league/game.

For card games such as poker, it revolves around luck plus certain skill set that can change the tide of the battle. For example, in poker even if you have the losing combination of cards, you can utilize tactics such as bluffing in order to scare away your opponents which forces them to fold.

In conclusion, sports betting and card games may give you an edge especially if you have enough information about them. Slots, on the other hand, may be considered as the worst game to play for a win given that everything revolves around luck.
422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think gamblers do retired betting gambles on: January 05, 2024, 11:24:59 PM
One day I saw an old man of seventy [70] years old in gambling center were we bet for soccer predictions gambling bet, and I interviewed the old man that his age that why is it gambling up this age, and many people who don't know me was like wondering why I interviewed the man and some said why I mine questioning the man that gambling is a game of personal interest.so what I to ask a gambler is that what age should someone who is a gambler supposed to reach before the person retire in gambling or is it advisable for someone to continue to gamble until death separate us with gambling.

Based on my observation, typically senior citizens gamble most of the time since they do not have anything left to do.

For example, the grandparents of my girlfriend generally gamble at least 3-5 times a week. They typically play slots and bet relatively low amounts of money. Sometimes, they come home with a profit of around $40-$50 and they call it a day. But there were days where they would lose $60 and they will channel their hatred to everyone.

Quote
As a gambler what do you think that should be the right time we suppose to leave gambling weather we are making profits or we are not making profits with gambling, because I know quite well that gambling whenever you are making profits you will wish to continue gambling unless that you run out of cash.

I think this really depends on your goal as a gambler.

When a person sees gambling as a form of profit, then retirement depends on whether they are satisfied with their winnings or not. This is potentially dangerous as this really depends on their judgement in their own perspective.

On the other hand, if a person sees gambling as a form of entertainment, there is typically a certain point where you get tired and bored of gambling. This is natural as there is a graph in economics that can explain this further.
423  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do we spam on: January 05, 2024, 04:39:30 PM
So I think that majorly the people that spam mostly is people that is controlling a numerous of account's and whenever they have a different account's they start writing a low quality post, I don't know if any one have observed that before, that what causes a low quality of posts and spamming might be due to alts, its better time to spread this information so that my own mates in the forum will not have same mindset  of spamming and low writing style.

People generally spam for post count. Before the merit system was implemented, lots of people would create accounts and post spam comments on various threads for activity points in order for their accounts to rank up. Now that the merit system typically abolished such abuse, spams are still prominent across different boards in the forum.

To be honest, I also feel perplexed and confused on why people spam in the first place. I guess they still have this mentality that number of posts = quality? Though I do not know for sure on how people apply for tokens but I guess they seem to think that the more posts they have, the higher the chances that they would be accepted in a given campaign.

In conclusion, people spam for different reasons but the common denominator is that they probably are newbies who know little-to-no english at all.
424  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin tumuntong na sa $41k+! on: January 05, 2024, 04:15:10 PM
Well, di ko rin expected na lilipad ng ganto si bitcoin as early as today, medyo overwhelmed lang siguro ako na currently nasa 44-45ish price range siya which is more than what I expected. Tinigil ko muna DCA ko in BTC and focus ako sa alts ngayon pero once na magka correction yung price ni bitcoin ay bibili ako ng maramihan since I personally think na may last dump pa na mangyayari at yun yung last time na makakabili tayo ng discounted bitcoin before bull run. It's just my speculation guys pero sa ngayon focus muna ako on alts, even if mag tuloy tuloy man tumaas yung bitcoin ay ok na ako sa hodlings ko.

I just hope na mangyari ngayon ang katulad na nangyari last 2021 na umabot sa ATH of around p3.5m ang BTC noon. Yun nga lang, after a few months after that, nag crash yung BTC and bumalik siya sa around ~p2.0m range.

Since malapit na nga din ang fork, it is really recommended na to HODL muna ang BTCs natin to take advantage of this price boost in a few months coming from now.

As someone na nandito sa forum since 2017, biggest regret ko talaga is cashing out my BTCs agad agad without fully taking advantage of the time. Kaya this time, natuto na ako and naka focus na ako for long-term advantage and investment.
425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao II on: January 05, 2024, 03:45:27 PM
This could be one of the biggest match for this year and that's a big announcement already.
Though there's a lot of speculation already so better not to expect that much especially with Mayweather as he wants to protect his record even if its an exhibition match. Another big money machine for both boxer, and let's just see if they will both agree for the terms and i'd hope that Manny will won this time so they can have the final rematch in 2025. Cheesy

Regardless if it is an exhibition match or not, the fact that these two (2) legends will face one more in the ring is enough for me to be sold.

As a Filipino, my heart really goes out to Pacquiao. He is the only boxer to win eight (Cool division titles in different categories which is enough for him to be listed at least on the top 5 GOATs of boxing. While many people see Mayweather as a "runner," his style of boxing revolves around hitting and not being hit. While he is indeed a technical fighter who plays for the score cards, Pacquiao is an explosive fighter who fights fire with fire- his style of aggressiveness and quickness will definitely wear out their opponents.

Even if it is an exhibition match, again, I super look forward in watching this fight. I just hope that this fight would also spark numerous debates regarding on who is the better fighter- but as an exhibition match, they can get away with it and reason otherwise.
426  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: January 05, 2024, 02:25:22 PM
People generally enter gambling out of curiosity. However, some people who are mentally disturbed by gambling become more addicted to gambling and drugs. People in my area who are in family turmoil and always addicted to drugs are mostly physically visiting offline gambling dens. But it is quite curious that some people fall into the circle of friends and become addicted to gambling. However, if we consider the number of people who are addicted to gambling, gambling addiction is usually more from the family which had a gambler addicted to gambling in the past.

I humbly submit that any person that has a mental disorder should definitely avoid activities that can potentially worsen their condition.

Like what I have said before, gambling is a game of chance. It requires a person to have the necessary resource and rationalize thinking before they can attempt to do it due to its addictive element. Assuming that a mentally disabled person, in which his mental resources are impaired, attempts to gamble there is a high probability that it can spiral out of control potentially causing a massive landslide to both their finances and condition.

It is not necessary that with prevent someone from gambling just because they are mentally ill. Maybe he finds it peace of mind by gambling after everything that he has endured. Every coin has two sides and I don't think it is different here. If that makes him happy, then why not let him do it.
If he is doing something bad and cannot stop it, then it is our responsibility to at least try to talk to him and get him out of this situation. If not then there's nothing wrong here. Let the man enjoy his life.

I do not think so. A mentally disabled person has their mental faculties impaired due to their condition. They may see something that is abnormal to be normal and even the other way around. Without any guidance or help from a friend or family member, their situation can potentially worsen.
427  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [A POLL] Without Chances of Making Money, Will you still be gambling? on: January 05, 2024, 01:08:26 PM
So, one question I want to ask is, if games were built to be played with money on casinos like we do now, with absolutely no chances of making money even when you win a game, would you still be spending money playing this games or betting on sports games?

Please let's discuss, and remember, keep it as constructive as possible and cast your vote on the pool as well.

I will definitely avoid gambling and forget it as soon as they remove the element of "winning money" in this aspect.

Remember that what satisfies the urge of players to gamble is the adrenaline of the unknown- which means that you will never accurately predict whether you will win or lose at the same time. Without any monetary aspect in gambling, this removes that satisfaction, thereby making it a chore rather than as a form of entertainment.

Like what most have mentioned also, there are other ways to have fun in which it may give the satisfaction that gambling may have. But removing the sole aspect that what makes gambling "fun" is definitely a dealbreaker that I will compel me to forget it completely.
428  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What thread can earn newcomers merit on: January 04, 2024, 04:34:23 PM
We all know the beginning stage is not easy as a newcomer needs to be patient. Atleast he or she should be getting no matter how little some reward for their resources in terms of time and materials.
I joined the forum and all I told some people around me about it, the next question is," how much have u earned", I was absolutely discourage as I remained mute till date.

Take it slow- nothing worth having comes easy, as they say. If you truly want to earn merits, then you should definitely work hard for it.

Remember that the first step is always to know and learn about the fundamentals/basics of cryptocurrencies. You should understand some terms related to it and you should also understand on how it works in the first place. Second, after learning such basics, this comes the part where you start to ask questions. You can also utilize the search bar in this forum in the event that your question had already been answered previously on past threads. Lastly, learning cryptocurrencies is a lifetime venture- you will never get tired of it as your knowledge will expand even more in the near future.

To conclude, enjoy your journey here and take things easy. If everything were easy, then everybody would have done it quickly.
429  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The is always on gambling, never the individual. on: January 04, 2024, 03:27:57 PM
<..snip..>
Why do people blame gamble for their own act of irresponsibility. No one is talking about their own part in their story of bad experience's with gambling, all we get to hear is gambling is bad and a useless activity. Why?

At the end of the day, people will always look for something or someone to blame for their mistakes. They lack the necessary accountability as a consequence for the wrong actions and decision making they have done. They will try to pin it to someone in order to rationalize their wrong behaviour because that is the easier thing to do than to admit that they are wrong.

Unfortunately, even outside the gambling world, this happens more frequently than you think. People will always try to find ways to blame others for their mistakes, which is very disheartening and unfortunate to witness.

I just really hope that people would acknowledge their wrongdoings since this is the step in order to address the issue on hand. If they truly want to change their gambling addiction and habits, the first step always starts by acknowledging their wrong and moving forward on it.
430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: January 04, 2024, 02:04:37 PM
A gambling expert brought i and some friends a guaranteed predicted game and asked us to stake a a high amount so that we winning could be huge and so we can give him a percentage of the money at winning.

I don't believe there could be a 100% guaranteed game but yet my friends who are eager to make profits in the gambling accepted to play the gamed as instructed and at the end of it, they all loosed the game and at then, the rest of us were happy because we didn't play the game else we would had loosed as others.

I want to ask, do you believe in experts gambling predictions?

Maybe it depends on the extent of the expert's knowledge on the game that I am playing.

Assuming that I am relatively new in a specified gambling game, I would definitely follow the advice of the expert especially if he explains it in a complete and detailed manner. Also, I should have the knowledge that the person giving the advice is indeed an "expert" on the said game.

As we all know that there is nothing absolute and accurate in gambling predictions, hearing the opinion of a person who has more time and knowledge invested in this game is definitely welcomed.
431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you see a gambling review website that has its own gambling website? on: January 04, 2024, 01:10:36 PM
I am asking this question because, for me, there could be a possible conflict of interest here.

As a review site running its own gambling site, there might be a concern that they could potentially undermine their competitors on their website to boost their own standing in the competition. This could involve making biased or false statements to praise their own website.

While I'm not certain if this is happening in the real world, it raises the question of whether you would trust a review website in such a case.

As a general rule, any kind of review website should be impartial- this means that they should have absolutely NO connection with any platform they try to review.

For example, if a gambling platform has their respective review website, then they will definitely have natural bias against any of their competitors. I mean obviously, who would undermine their own business to the advantage of others?

Unfortunately, this is what is happening to what you just mentioned OP. A gambling platform that has their respective review website can potentially be biased to the prejudice of others. In conclusion: avoid that review website and gambling platform.
432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How possible is it to win lottery 14 times using mathematics calculations on: January 03, 2024, 09:49:47 PM

Navigating through articles online got me attracted to a catchy caption yet disturbing (the link posted below).
I am  a stern believer that gambling. Which I believe that lottery is, is purely a game of luck rather than skills or expertise.
How this managed to happen repeatedly for 14 times means it's not just luck, something else must have happened.

https://www.unilad.com/news/mathematician-won-lottery-14-times-317063-20231230

Leave your opinion if you think it's 100% luck to be  winner or there is a particular skill needed.

HAHA! Winning the lottery 14 times? Sorry that is just pure crap and BS at the same time. I doubt that he really won the lottery as he tried to rationalize by saying that he used "simple math" for it. If it were that simple per se, then everyone would be winning twice-thrice by now. The fact that lightning does not strike the same person twice heavily implies that winning the lottery is almost a once-in-a-lifetime venture due to the significant low odds of winning, yet this guy won 14 times?

I agree with everyone here that this guy is just pure BS. If he knew such "simple math," then why couldn't he win at least everyday or like 15 times? Again, this is definitely rigged and there is perhaps someone controlling the system from the inside.
433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does the tension make you take risk that are sometimes worth it? on: January 03, 2024, 04:26:51 PM
<..snip..>
So I would like to know your own experience when making or taking risk in gambling under pressure.

I think the answer boils down to the goal of the gambler on why they gamble in the first place.

If a person gambles for profit, then they may feel more pressure compared to your average gambler due to the risks involved. A person who sees gambling as a way to earn income may be under pressure for most of the time due to the minimums they have to meet in order to satisfy their life obligations outside gambling.

If a person gambles primarily for entertainment, then they may feel less pressured compared to the above-mentioned class. A person who enjoys gambling due to the feeling of adrenaline may feel a little bit of pressure but they do not necessarily feel that extreme pressure where they have to win.
434  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: January 03, 2024, 03:58:27 PM
I will care if the person who has an opinion on gambling is someone who is in a position to offer help to me, because if the person has a bad or wrong opinion of all gamblers, it can affect whatever plan they have to help me, and make them change their mind.

If it is an opinion from people who do not matter, to h*ll with their opinions.

Generally, yes- I do care what people say about my gambling habits.

I am a person with an open mind- I tend to listen to the opinion of others and try to associate myself with them. I see it as an objective perspective on their part especially if they share something that is deeply rooted against my gambling habits that will overall provide me an insight about my addiction.

The only time that I do tend to ignore some of my colleagues is when they share something without any basis. If they are strongly against my gambling habits without substantiating it with proof or any real-life scenarios, then I tend to ignore them.

At the end of the day, these people can see something that I do not see within myself. Since addiction (in general) can blur one's rationalization, then it is better to stop and listen to what they have to say about you.
435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Buying More Tickets To Increase Your chances on: December 30, 2023, 05:40:36 PM
Personally, I do not buy any tickets as I consider one (1) as sufficient to try out my chances in the lottery.

I somehow associate with your posts, OP. In the Philippines, around hundreds of millions of pesos is at stake in our lottery weekly. Statistically speaking, the more tickets that you have, the more chances that you may actually win the lottery. I tried buying three (3) tickets before but it seems that purchasing one is already enough to try my chances daily. Imagine purchasing more than two (2) tickets daily- such expense would accumulate and I would rather save my money rather than buying those extra two (2) tickets.

Though this may be the case, I just hope that someday, I would be able to experience winning something as big as the lottery.
436  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: earn from Bitcoin on: December 30, 2023, 04:55:02 PM
Sorry to bother the community, but it is a hard time for me now. I am really appreciated to your suggestions, help, instructions of How to earn from Bitcoin, including a job related to Bitcoin, mine, trading, or anything else.

There are various ways in order to earn BTCs especially with the help of this forum.

If you are curious about mining, then you can start by utilizing the search bar of this forum and input any mining-related questions that you have. If you are a complete beginner, then I suggest that you first watch videos about mining because it can be very technical to someone who has no prior experience to any crypto-related knowledge.

If you are willing to do anything that is service-related with BTC as payment fee, then visit the SERVICE BOARD and broadcast any service-related job that you can accomplish.

If you want to participate in campaign signatures since they pay BTC as payment, you must first reach the required merits for the ranks they require. Merits, on the other hand, is considered one of the most discussed topics in this forum. If you want to know how to earn them the SMART and RIGHT way, then utilize again the search bar for this.
437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: December 30, 2023, 04:13:52 PM
Due to a lack of better Chess-related discussions, I am opening this thread again to discuss the recent events that happened in the last couple of days!

As you all know, Magnus Carlsen has won his FIFTH Rapid World Championship and his SEVENTH Blitz World Championship in which the latter just finished a couple of hours ago.

This feat is nothing but greatness due to the fact that there is a lot of strong players that participated in these matches. I really thought that Artemiev would have won the Blitz section given that he was in the lead the whole tournament but Magnus was able to get a 6 win streak which skyrocketed him to the top. From both the Rapid and the Blitz Championship, Magnus lost only ONCE against MVL in the blitz section.

What are your thoughts on this? I personally think that Magnus is the undisputed GOAT of Chess with these accomplishments. Now that Alireza has qualified for the candidates, will we see Magnus attempt at the World Classical Chess Championship next year?

438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as a Replacement for a College Savings Plan on: December 30, 2023, 03:39:21 PM
At this rate, I am seeing that now most corporate companies plan to remove the college degree requirement for jobs, which will transform the college education long term, and its looking like it won't even be needed unless you're going to be a PhD or a Lawyer etc etc.

I doubt that this would actually push through given the amount of jobs required to have technical and specialized skill which are taught in some degrees.

Sure, there may be jobs that may not require you to be a college graduate, but I do think that these are entry-level blue collared jobs. While this may also work in first world countries, having a degree in a third-world country is definitely essential and needed to at least guarantee you a paying and consistent job.

Quote
The traditional mutual fund / 529 plan isn't really needed anymore if college isn't going to be a requirement, but now I am more so just thinking of a life savings plan is a much better and more flexible option. Maybe just set them each up a wallet and load x amount each making quarterly contributions. By the time they are old enough surely they would have more money in that account anyways compared to the mutual fund, right?

Remember that BTCs are investments. With its volatility, its price may increase/decrease at any given moment. While others may consider it a long-term savings plan, it should, however, be viewed as a moving investment. This means that you must take advantage of the sudden increase on its price because anything can still happen. Its unreliability is what makes it desired as a short-term investment; and the long-term part is considered due to the regular forks that happen every 4+ years.
439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rich, average or poor. Who loses more? on: December 30, 2023, 03:26:10 PM
So why are people contacting themselves. They will say the house would win because of house edge. Now they are also saying the rich would win than the poor. Is it not the others way around that the more the rich spend on gambling, the more the money the rich will eventually lose.

Well statistically speaking, the house will always win due to the presence of house edge. That slight advantage that the gambling platform has will definitely outperform everyone in the long run assuming that we based it solely on the house edge. This is true as this is mathematically accepted and proven by the numbers alone.

While this may be true, this is only to a certain extent wherein there is a balance between winning and losing. This does not take into account the low odds of hitting a jackpot, etc. that can definitely happen if the person bets.

Let us take this for example:

In the Philippines, the chance of winning the lottery is 1 in 5,245,7861. Obviously, that is definitely a low chance of winning but the more tickets you have, the more chances that can garner you that lightning chance of winning the whole jackpot.

440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The frustrations in loosing a huge bet when your winning was so assured. on: December 30, 2023, 02:35:58 PM
To those who considers making profits a priority in gambling, I have come to observe that it is much more frustrating when you looses your game at when the game was almost over and you were on the safer side (winning) and just a few minute or seconds before the game is over it ended up at your lost.
I come to understand that it is more worrisome when the sure winning opportunities was so huge and got lost lately closed to the end time of the game.

I think this is somehow obvious given that most people view gambling as a means of earning extra income or profit. Given that most gambling ads advertise the chances of winning huge amounts of money (e.g. jackpot prizes, cars, etc.), no wonder that most people feel frustrated after losing due to this hope that they failed to achieve.

While this may be true, I do think that this happens also to people who gamble rarely. They just want to attempt and try their luck, checking if they can potentially beat the significantly low odds of winning the jackpot.

With all things considered, gambling in general is frustrating. It plays with all your emotions and it also lets you feel things that you have not felt before due to what is stake on the prize.
