561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: October 29, 2017, 06:50:08 PM
Nice fake run up today. Trying to show bitcoin cash is strong enough to compete with a potential 2x hardfork. Hope both chains die before the end of the year.

I expect they will, no need to hope.

Holding BCH can just be seen as an insurance policy against a major disruption in the main BTC chain. I would not urge anyone to sell, but I do expect it to dwindle to Zero over a period of time.

Interesting, so you think the posting of one person in one forum dictates the price movement of a whole market ?

Butterfly effect.

I don't know what the future holds, but icey is quite an influence on this thread.

564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: October 29, 2017, 12:05:54 PM

I admit I underestimated Icey's trolling. This looks serious to a newbie, even though he is mixing lies with bits of truth...

Yes, looks like it is having a steady effect on price.

Dash price is creeping down slowly.
565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ECC on: October 27, 2017, 09:55:50 AM
Hodlers of ECC and everyone else in the community,

It is no secret that there have been some issues with the coin over the last few months. The coin is now stable and can continue to move forward with both developments and coin awareness. Moving more into the public eye has caused a need to expand the team to include designers and marketing along with our current developers. The development team remains the same but will be working closely with designers and marketing from the community to help make this coin a success. In the days to come a complete rebranding is the first thing on the to do list. We have updated the landing page of the ecc website with a glimpse of what the new revisions will look like.

In addition, we will be dropping the name E-Currency Coin and will be calling both the coin and the project ECC. The ticker symbol “ECC” will not change. These changes reflect that ECC will be moving beyond being just another altcoin coin with the coming implementation of Service Networks as outlined in ECC’s whitepaper. These Service Networks will help us to implement Distributed Network Services in the future and more details will be published as development continues. The designers will be giving extra attention to GUI user friendliness and marketing will be focusing on getting the word about ECC to as many people as possible.

There was also a revision to the development/release schedule for the GUI and daemon aspects of the project towards the end of September. The development team plans to release larger updates to both the GUI and the daemon during the first week of every month. Emergency patches or updates might come out during the middle of the month, but this won’t be a common occurrence. All updates will be optional unless specifically stated otherwise. Not every month will have an update. If the development team is working on a larger update the gui or daemon or both might skip a scheduled update for that month and an announcement will be made with the appropriate information.

Griffith

Thanks for the update. If its worth doing, its worth doing well.

These things take time, and most of the community is patient. Don't be too concerned about the odd critic.
566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) on: October 26, 2017, 09:33:56 AM
When will Bitcoin Gold have a fully working wallet? Bitcoin Cash had wallets even before the snapshot of theirs. As a private key holder, I have Bitcoin Gold somewhere in the blockchain but I can not control my coins now. How come exchanges gave Bitcoin Gold to their users at all? Even exchanges themselves should not claim their coins and how come they give to their users. They just want to increase their volume by some imaginary coins.

Anyway, is there any news about Bitcoin Gold wallet? Especially for Electrum

Exchanges cannot give BTG to their users, because it is a different blockchain.

567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) on: October 26, 2017, 09:28:40 AM
Bitcoin Gold is another hard Fork that at first I wasn't excited about but when I do hear that they offer higher ICO and everyone can mine with their low specs hardware - I really into it. Imagine, Bitcoin is mined by mining corporations and they're using top of the line hardware but in Bitcoin Gold, we can even mine coins using our loptop or low specs hardware so this is surprising and revolutionary.
I do like to understand how this coin will come forward since aside from those feature that you mention it seems that interest coming from new players are rising and it will be determined whether this split will make some difference from the previous one, bitcoin, bitcoin cash and bitcoin gold so still the king is standing  tall maybe lets see how well this three will performed from each investors that will hold the coins.

BTG is not a split. It is a brand new blockchain, all prevoius transactions discarded.

We don't even know the process by which BTC keyholders will claim their BTG, but that has the potential to be the biggest theft ever.

568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold (BTG) on: October 26, 2017, 09:25:18 AM
If bitcoin gold succeeds then there's no hope for the crypto community. Who falls for such a scam

Agree. It looks so amateurish. The goldpaper is full of errors and misinformation.
569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Viacoin (VIA) - Safe | Segwit | Lightning Network | Auxpow | Fast on: October 25, 2017, 11:27:18 PM

viacoin has already implemented and activated both segwit and lightning network a while ago,
and did successful atomic swaps with ltc and dcr

...on a network thats orders of magnitude bigger, stronger and more secure

...not to mention, atomic swaps would not be possible without viacoin's original opcode CheckLockTimeVerify which was implemented 3 years ago.

Great stuff !

So what is it that is widening the price differential between VTC and VIA ?
570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: October 25, 2017, 10:56:25 PM

Dash hasn't even fixed transaction malleability or implemented Compact Blocks.  Bitcoin Core did these things ages ago.

There is also the giant issue of critical bugs in the ancient version of Bitcon that Dash is based on.

When it's time, we're going to troll this cargo cult coin at the protocol level and show the world why you don't waste resources on marketing before the crypto is secure.... Wink

I don't agree on most of your issues, however the security point is valid.

IMO the spend on advertising is the problem, and that derives from the excess amount up for grabs every month in the proposals budget. It leads to inefficient and spurious projects, where there are large and easy profits.

More resources need to be diverted to the codebase and security issues. If governed correctly, a large community would be a positive.
571  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Cash - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Pro on-chain scaling - Cheaper fees on: October 22, 2017, 11:43:57 PM
........................
But lets be clear that is a fork to modify the difficulty adjustment , so many of you have been whining about.

It is not a newly created coin networks , like segshitcoin is going to have.

.........................

Yes but looking over twitter and reddit comments it may not go as smoothly as expected a lot of users are angry about this and the miners seem to like the old EDA so "could" create a community split like ETH & ETC this was born from differences over an official upgrade

add to that less-well-informed ppl are being confused as the term Hard Fork is being used to describe a change in code/ EDA as well as to describe a community split (the latter only discernable in hindsight). A split seems unlikely atm, surely the EDA is not that contentious ?
572  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Viacoin (VIA) - Safe | Segwit | Lightning Network | Auxpow | Fast on: October 22, 2017, 11:28:48 PM
Before I noticed that the price of VTC and VIA was kinda synced all the time. If VIA fell, then also VTC and vice versa. Then something happened a few weeks ago and VTC went up, leaving VIA in the dust. VTC is dominating, but now I have a hunch that VIA is soon going to lift off. What do you other guys think? VIA has had some very nice features implemented and yet is more to come.

I believe VTC rise is about Segwit and Lightning implementation, facilitating atomic swap testing with LTC.

VTC has early-mover advantage in something that may happen in many alts. VIA is not in that testing and unlikely to catch-up to VTC now.
573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] E-CurrencyCoin Thread on: October 22, 2017, 10:13:13 AM
The new GUI won't start the Daemon. After downloading ( the correct) version and double-checking that nothing is blocking the app, it will not fire up.
I have the same issue. Any solutions?

sometimes when windows downloads the file, people have found that the exe itself is set to blocked. so you have to rightclick on the daemon > properties > and check unblock.

location is: C:/users/[your user name]/.eccoin-daemon

we are going to change that location to

C:/Program Files/Lynx  in the future (which should be fine since bitcoin also installs to the program files folder)

with the next update.
Unfortunately, it is not the case. The daemon starts and closes within a second after launch anyway on both of mine PCs (Windows 7 SP1). I tried to run it as administrator, also in compatibility modes - no luck.

I have exactly the same issue. Have not been able to sync. I have given up on it for now.
574  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin [VTC][ANN] Segwit Activated | ASIC Resistant Decentralized GPU Mining on: October 22, 2017, 12:00:25 AM
Hey there. First time I post on the Vertcoin thread.
I studied Vertcoin a month ago and I decided to buy some. I took them out of bitter and into my coinomi wallet with a view of keeping them long term.
Clearly what attracted me is the Asiic resistance.

Also clearly I am very glad that this coin is now  giving me something like 200% return and still I will not sell it.

The only question I have is: why now??
I was rather sure this coin would rise... but why now??

Only because of ledger support? Mind me, it's good news, still...
Your views are appreciated.

VTC has been mentioned specifically as being involved in testing of Atomic Swaps/Lightning Network with LTC.
575  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: October 15, 2017, 12:30:55 AM
are you happy guys ? its back at 8$ lol ... hopefully , i am storing my etc in the official ETC wallet.
Oh wait, there is no wallet LOL

LMAO remember when Monero was under $1 and the GUI wallet was still off in the furthest reaches of Soon? Wink

ETC will use Cardano's gorgeous new Daedalus wallet.

Duplication of effort is bad, m'kay?

Is that correct ?   Daedalus will support ETC but not ETH ? I see it in the Cardano website, but wonder if it might be an error (typo)

577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] E-CurrencyCoin Thread on: October 13, 2017, 08:07:16 AM
I hate this coin , i lost every time money in this , i hope to go in 1 sat and die there!

Seems to be where its heading !  Don't worry, it was 1 sat for a long time before, and picked up some interest seemingly from nowhere.
578  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coins worth buying on: October 12, 2017, 10:07:55 PM
In tough times like this I'm putting my money in Electreum

WTF is that ?
579  Economy / Speculation / Re: Nights Watch by Afrikoin on: October 12, 2017, 09:44:26 AM

I believe in crypto globally, I'm not sharing your point of view but I'm okay on that fact.

That is the view of most ppl here. Irritable posts are nearly always the result of bad trades and/or personal attacks.

I've lost lots of BTC in Altcoin speculation, but I made more on the winners. The bottom line is keep trading and never sell out of anything. It either fails or flys. Let the fails go to zero. Take only partial profits on the winners. Always spread your risk. Then you can shrug and move on.

All this is predicated upon a belief in the technology, and its adoption. If you are in the market properly, you will benefit. If it doesn't happen, then you cannot win anyway.

Segwit works. Security is not compromised. Bitcoin is over $5000, everyone's happy, except the bag holders.

Bagholders on which chain ?
