1241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero a proper alt coin ? or political propaganda scam fraud ? on: September 12, 2014, 12:26:13 AM
At the very least I would suggest that everyone choose to ignore supporters AND detractors of Monero, and instead focus on the cryptographically sound technical merits of a cryptocurrency that we hope will have longevity and usefulness in the coming years.
With all the due respect fluffy, this is bullshit. You are proposing a technology whose main merit is full untraceability and accept the presence of idiots posting nazi shit.
I could respect the concept if it was just for buying dildos or porn or the internet but the picture here is way darker... I do not want to mine a coin which seems to have taken such interest from the violents and the idiots, no matter what the technological merits are. God only knows what kind of transactions I could be processing.
Take a position to defend your asset and IP. The noise levels are extreme and whatever it's important gets lost in a sea of bullshit, and I'm telling you that exactly because I'm interested in the technology.

The same arguments were put forward against BTC a year or two ago, and are now outdated. I do not pretend to know, but this argument has the appearance of a rivalry between XMR and BTC. (although I am surprised because how could the BTC community see a tiny alt coin as such a threat)

BTC is now looking at multisig technology anyway.

Good collection there ! Worth putting all together to let observers read and form their own conclusions about the motivations of these thread posters.
1243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: September 11, 2014, 10:32:42 AM
The coin simply resolved in a bearish downtrend. The price may spike down to 35k briefly (~50% replacement from the latest bull trend). From here, the price will most likely bounce back into a slightly bullish trend and wiggle its way back up and tap the 45k mark. It may go back down to ~40k before it breaks through 45k. We should see an ATH coming - time frame? Not entirely sure - but this is how I'm reading the charts at the moment. Comment on whether you agree or disagree - I'm open to opinion.

BTCKYLE BTC

Generally agree, but it is pointless to put figures on support levels. Could be 35k or 20k or whatever.

Remember, any new push forward can become an order-of-maginitude change, so the turn can come from any level. If I was looking to buy more, I would average-down, investing 10% more on every 20% drop, and wouldn't worry about levels.

average down?  that would be an easy way to make yourself more stuck wouldn't it?  i don't mind averaging down as a strategy if your pocket is deep.  but what if you run out of ammo and the price keeps going lower?

When you run out of ammo and the price goes lower you timed it wrong. The biggest sin in trading is to run out of money : always keep dry powder.

Either the coin will fail or succeed. You have to make a decision to commit, or not. If you commit, you allocate an amount of capital, and limit your exposure. Personally, I very rarely sell out of a coin altogether, preferring to hodl to zero rather than risk missing the moon.

FWIW, my next buy level for Via is 20k sat, then 10k, then 5k, then I stop. I hope it doesn't get to any of them.

But however you feel about the subject, I know which way my own instincts will jump if censorship is applied. I won't hang around complaining, I'll just sign off.

..and you will be free to do so, there will be no pressure to hold  Tongue

A self moderated thread is a useful necessary tool IMO, but it is the application of the moderation that is key. A restrained and sensible policy should be applied sparingly.  Probably only in cases where the community is obviously in favour, and off-topic or spam is a problem.
1245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XMR] Monero Community FAQ on: September 11, 2014, 10:14:32 AM
Q: Is Monero going to the moon this year or should we waite until next year?

Definitely wait until next year. Price needs to consolidate at a lower level : it will help distribution to more people.

What are the plans for a new GUI ?  Is it something that will be better delayed until the codebase technicals are more established ?
1248  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: RR on: September 10, 2014, 10:08:44 AM
Can KJO be banned from this forum? His inflammatory posts are unwelcome.

DigitalIndustry might be eccentric and annoy the hell out of many people, but he makes many excellent points. He is also, unlike KJO, a supporter of QRK.

Today I have none left, lol.

So, by your own admission, you own no Quark. Get lost, troll.

+1

If someone holds no QRK, why would they make so many long emotional posts ?

To see where this kind of conduct leads, need only check out the fate of Fluttercoin, another piece of unique and innovative tech (proof of transaction) that is sitting on the crypto scrap pile primarily because the dev had the same kind of attitude.

That is the main value of a moderated thread.

The appearance of squabbling is very damaging to confidence.

Excuse me, Vegasguy, but after everything you have written, I don't know what to think.

@Supercointeam and Supercoindev , can you please check what's happened to him?

If your transactions are conflicted, they should be in the wallet which the funds were sent from.

Edit: I have 147.83 unconfirmed coins, but I suppose that's some lost staking, not lost transactions.

Yes. Lost transactions don't happen. The coins are there somewhere (either the sender or the receiver have them, once they are both on the correct chain )
1251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CASH] Crypto CASH | Proof of Stake & COIN CONTROL | On Cryptsy | 0 PREMINE on: September 09, 2014, 08:56:09 AM
50 satoshi price is still very attractive for CASH coin for now due to the very low difficulty to mine it.

This is a reason for price to falling down. I suppose the bottom line is near 10 satoshi - at this level profit from CASHcoin mining will be the same as other regular Scrypt forks like litecoit, dogecoin etc.

With current difficulty only about 0.25 any price above 10 satoshi is an extra profit.

We need more miners to stabilize the network hashrate or the price will continue to falling down.

If CASH is profitable to mine at 10+ satoshi, why so very few people is mining it? The price is 10x higher than 10 satoshi. Don't take me wrong, but if some coin is at 10x price of mining profitability, it would be mined by everyone. Explorer says there are 5.5 million coins, Vlad2vlad says there are 8 million, so even with 8 million, is is only 8BTC market CAP. If it falls to 10 satoshi, it will be only 0,8 BTC. I myself will put 10 BTC buy wall at 10 satoshi, if the price goes there and I will be buying it for next 10 years at that price:) If there is really 1 million CASH minted per month, it is only 1 BTC/Month. It is not that much. This coin is fine, it just need a dev and some coin reduction. I think it can hit 50 satoshi, if we wait enough, but it is more probable it will hit 100.000 than 10 satoshi.

Yes... 1 million coin is only ~1BTC per month. That is insignificant.
1252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: LottoShares - Dice 0% Edge - 80LTS Airdrop to all DOGE owners on: September 09, 2014, 12:35:22 AM
Is there any method by which I can claim my LTS without emptying my current wallets? by perhaps a message or transaction signed with my private key, even do not understand why I have to import my private key to your wallet and expose all risks involved when it is very easy to show that this wallet belong to me only with sign with my private key a message, note that I have taken the time to ensure my wallets and repeat this process at least is inefficient  Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided Huh Huh Huh

You have to use the private key. Then just send coins (for security) to a different address (in the same wallet if you want).

Why would you want to keep the coins in the same address ?

But seriously it's very childish to threaten a community because he lost some coins.

And he's not helping himself. You're bragging about selling off SUPER, do you REALLY think we're going to help you recover your other lost SUPERs so you can sell them off too.... lol

Poster that wants help from the community so that he can hurt the coin more ?

Yeah, lets just self destruct LOL

I am seeing XMR wallet spit out some "Unsupported Transaction Format" errors (using current, new, version), but wallet seems to work, with correct balance. Should I be concerned ?

No - that's transactions in that bad black (202612) - we are adding an exception so that it doesn't scan that block.

OK, thanks !

Divided communities kill coins. United communities repair confidence.

It is human nature to put self interest over community interest, and that is why so few projects reach their potential.

Super is on the correct fork, by definition.

I am really excited for the future of Viacoin. Bitcoin is obviously strong because it was the first cryptocurrency, but Viacoin offers so much more than bitcoin and could possibly replace it over time. If you think about it, bitcoin may need to be replaced at some point - it is like an old computer that may eventually be phased out (Comment if you agree or disagree). Out of all the alternatives out there at this point in time, I say that Viacoin is a very strong contender  Shocked

Investors beware of this coin. It may be a second chance to adopt a coin that will go up in value beyond our dreams (like bitcoin did).

I would like to hear some responses back on whether you agree or disagree with me.

BTCKYLE
BTC

Viacoin is not intended to be a currency like Bitcoin. It has a purpose, but as an investment vehicle it is not going to follow BTC.

Peter todd  said at twitter : Making #Viacoin be preferred over #Bitcoin is an unfinished work-in-progress; I'm not going to say otherwise.

what's the meaning of it?

it means they are still working to be better than bitcoin and are not going to lie to people by saying they are better.

the guy is keeping it real and is trying to avoid hyping viacoin.  which is good.

He is keeping it enigmatic, which is the essence of a good commentator in the financial sphere (dogmatic pronouncements are proven wrong , and their issuers are debagged summarily by the market)
1259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | cPoW | PC mining | Stability | Hashcows - QRK Payouts on: September 08, 2014, 03:17:08 PM

As for baiting, I think you got the roles reversed. He's the one mercilessly thrown out of anything quark official. Anyone is free to support Quark on its own, but I think the official Quark community should dispatch such Kkk lunatics which only purpose is to divide and repel new quarkers.

OK, fair enough. The community as a whole decides, that's democracy. Then the market decides.

I don't really profess to know the answers... it is interesting to watch the outcomes.
