1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ECCoin (ECC) Community Has Taken Over! [Griffith Is Now The Dev] on: December 07, 2014, 11:25:52 AM
Second question:

A coin (currency or valuta if you like) is not only for exchanging them for another coin, but also for buying and selling goods and services.
Where will that part be? Or are ECC and MWC chiefly meant to be traded?

(By the way: E-Currency Coin as name says two times the same: currency and coin)

In my believe, we have to create value first. This is a certain value against BTC, trust and continuation of a coin. There is no merchant in the world that will accept a coin that is not stabilized and have doesn't value.

There are simply too many coins coming into the market and dissapear again. That stops merchants from accepting Cryptos.

So, we want to make our coins stable, give them a purpose to start with and then look for merchants. But looking for merchants is not a priority on this moment.

I can not but agree with that.

On second thought: I agree with that for the first part of your answer. I don't agree with your last sentence. That's why coins are popular and become stable. Especially BTC, for instance, and DOGE and others. Of course there will be always fluctuations in the price.

The first stage priority is creating technical stability, then increasing distribution. The two are linked, of course. Takes time and patience.
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AnimeCoin [アニメコイン] ANI (New Thread!) on: December 07, 2014, 11:21:56 AM

Dormant like an alien seed. Can be like that for years, and spring to life suddenly. It all depends on who picks it up.

There are actually a large number of holders, who also hold many other cryptocurrencies. The potential community for Animecoin is similar to the whole crypto community. Generally, the BTCTalk threads are not indicative : they mostly contain negativistic posts from easily disappointed holders.

I am happy to hold Anime (among many others), until /if it revives virally. That usually happens where a large stake is sold cheaply, and picked up by a strong player. Many Cryptocommunity members have a similar attitude.
1104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Core 0.9.2.1 on: December 06, 2014, 01:50:58 AM
Is this coin still alive?? Last year around this month this coin was hugely popular...

One year ago the Market Cap was $60 Million. Actually made number 5 in size.
1105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5 - Must Upgrade by Jan 17 2015 on: December 01, 2014, 01:19:23 AM
Please can you clarify this.  Is the maximum RECEIVABLE AMOUNT of stake 250 HBN at any one block (eg a chunk of 12,500 HBN with 10 days coin age will produce 250 HBN stake)  , or is the maximum size of block (chunk) which will stake, limited at 250 HBN in some way ?

It is the maximum receivable amount of stake. A chunk of 12500 HBN should receive after 10 days a stake of 12500 x 10 x 1/365 = 342 which is above the limit. If my math is correct, 9125 coins should get you 250 HBN after 10 days.

(I'm assuming 100% stake. Due to HBN having NVCS this could change according to the difficulty)

Correct on both.

Another way to look at it would be, a set of 1,000 coins left in cold storage would reach max stake reward after ~ 95 days.

Thanks for the explanations.
1106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HoboNickels - HBN - High Fast Stake - Version 1.5 - Must Upgrade by Jan 17 2015 on: November 30, 2014, 07:46:50 PM
1.5 introduces the 250 max stake right?  Friday night math doublecheck...we should make sure blocks are <10,000 so as to not hit the stake ceiling?

I noticed this "250" in OP...I thought that we been talking about 500?

Initially we discussed 500. I did some math after looking over the block chain and trying to figure out what was best for both the network, users and inflation rate.  250 seemed a bit better.  Based on what I see on the block chain. 99% of stakes are already well below this mark.

And very simple:

E-Commerce Coin

Maybe more...
bump

that goes on the top of the pile of possible ECC

That was one of the top ones we chose originally. EC Coin was left as the 'name',  because it sounds like 'Easy' as well as 'European Community', and Country coins were all the rage then.
1108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPERCOIN] Unique Most Advanced Anonymous Trustless Multisig Technology on: November 18, 2014, 10:33:13 PM
I gave them 2 weeks so 13 days left.

What is the benefit, I still have doubt that superdev will release the code. They never want to share and audit code.
For them they were superior and other are just inferior to them and will steal super code.

Though I appreciate your skepticism, wait it out just a bit.  Up until now, we haven't had a prospective new Dev team make an appearance in thread. How supercoindev responds to this will be definitive about the future of the coin.

+1

Guys don't you think that 100% stake for 1 year is it to much?

No. Could be better at a higher level (200% like Bottlecaps). 100% is the standard set out originally, and will remain constant. PoS has to have enough incentive for holders to open wallets frequently.

There are plenty of lower % PoS coins for you to buy, if you think that is the way to go.

http://counterparty.io/news/counterparty-recreates-ethereums-smart-contract-platform-on-bitcoin/

basically counterparty and bitcoin can do most of ethereums stuff on the btc blockchain

counterparty is getting serious

Counterparty is too slow. It's not smart to use  btc's blockchain either way....BTC will eventually fall (to other cryptocurrencies), and so will the coins tied with it.

Alternatives will take time to build up. The problem with Clearinghouse is , although VIA is custom built and fast, it does not have the distribution of BTC.
1111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPERCOIN] Unique Most Advanced Anonymous Trustless Multisig Technology on: November 14, 2014, 11:52:47 PM
At this point I say the dev just releases the code even with no dev, don't have much to lose and we can always go into the copy cat thread and show them this was the first

That would be futile. A new dev team is essential. I am tending to think the code should stay closed until then, even if it takes a year.
1112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SUPERCOIN] Unique Most Advanced Anonymous Trustless Multisig Technology on: November 08, 2014, 10:52:41 AM

The reason for doubt among the community is because we believe that IF the technology works the way the white paper states (which I believe it does), then you have created a technology that there is a HUGE demand for in the market.  This combined with the fact that you are willing to walk away from the project spells confusion among investors.  It looks like a dev walking away from a guaranteed pay day. Whatever your reasons may be, it is your choice, so be it. We are individuals and make choices, but moving to another dev is difficult without visibility and requirements.

-Ticked
................

Why would anyone walk away from something for which there is such huge demand in the market? Think about it, sounds like another scam to me.

The need for a new and qualified dev is a very real reason for the current situation. I discussed this need with Supercoindev in the very early stages.

It is vital to have a good and substantial team/community to take development forward, because one or two developers cannot manage alone . It is safest for the code to remain closed until that team is assembled, because once it is open, a stronger organisation can clone it and take it forward as their own new coin.

Maybe it is the community which has failed (thus far) and not the dev ?

Remember, all cryptocurrencies are a work-in-progress.
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Core 0.9.2.1 on: November 04, 2014, 10:40:36 PM
I was wondering if it's possible to add a feature to Quark that runs on top of Counterparty?

Perhaps Clearinghouse would be more appropriate, to better match the speed of QRK.
1114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: November 02, 2014, 06:58:57 PM
VIA/XCH ratio 1 VIA = 33.82 XCH is probably the lowest in history Roll Eyes

I am regret I didn't convert my via to xch Cry

Doesn't matter : Hold both : you can buy XCH anytime. The relatively minor difference in ratio (3-4x) is not important in the grand scheme of things.

When the burn period ended, I just continued buying XCH instead of VIA.
1115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Checkcoin] Explore the world using Checkcoin [PR PHASE] on: November 02, 2014, 06:56:30 PM
price talk is the only subject in every coin.
almost every coin indeed, but this thread is a bit different. Right?

Yes, maybe.

Eliminate price talk from a thread, and get a coin that is differerent from all the others, and therefore stands out as more serious.

Same as, or different from the others. Choice.
1116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Checkcoin] Explore the world using Checkcoin [PR PHASE] on: October 31, 2014, 12:59:45 PM
Sorry to say, but the ckc forum is once again flooded with spam. Undecided

An IRC channel would be nice indeed. I just joined #checkcoin, but I would like to have it approved by the dev team.

http://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.kiwiirc.com/#checkcoin

This can often be a problem : it shows the need for virtually full-time administrators. A good cryptocurrency needs a lot of manpower to maintain : I have seen some great ideas fail due to a lack of worktime in the community.

I am just pointing this out as a positive marker for the devs. Checkcoin is in a good niche.
1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: October 26, 2014, 05:16:19 PM
lol will that bot ever stop selling  Undecided
I dont sell my coins for a loss but if I can pick up some via below 10k or maybe below 5k it would not be that bad hehe

I moved my order from 12k to 10k, seems like a wise choice given the current climate, also no word from the bitmessage camp about any progress with their implementation of treechains (which im really looking forward to so i can say goodbye to traditional email forever) so i should imagine tc for Via is months away at least, and since 80% of the coins value has been lost already I should think this is going to get worse before it gets better Cry

Hodl anything you want these days. It will go down

That's about right.

Doesn't matter how good an idea is or how technically brilliant, unless there is a real world need for the coin to be used to purchase essentials, it is just a speculative experiment. That is how Bitcoin started.

The plain truth is that very very few coins will survive.
1118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: October 25, 2014, 11:41:40 PM
Can someone explain the difference between what Via team is working on and what Bitcoin "sidechains" is to someone who is not a programmer please??
Is this a concern for the Via coin?
https://coinreport.net/tree-chains-vs-side-chains-controversy-explained/

Just noticed some legendary human being sold 60,000 while I was asleep and destroyed the sell wall Cheesy may have to lower my bid...

SOLD and destroyed the SELL wall?

Destroyed the buy wall  Grin

Now buyers have a chance to get cheaper coin.
1119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CrazyLoaf's CrazySteak(TM) High PoS Investment Journal on: October 25, 2014, 10:50:52 AM

....

I do know it, it just didnt seem like that was full disclosure thats all.

Seems like super-full disclosure to me. Better than nearly all other coins.

IMO this is the way forward for crypto now. Non-anon.

Proof of dev., facility for disclosure of large holders etc..  After all, this is the way things operate in the real democratic world.

A paperwallet generator is needed. It is surprising that CKC does not have one yet, as so many coins do.
