Hello there!

is there some kind of confirmation for us after we send the VRC to the generated address from the VRM landing page?

Cheers!

All you need to do is check the address on the blockchain explorer. It is dedicated to your VRM address only. If what you sent is in there, you're all set.

I haven't got any VRC but have been watching this thread and ICO launch. Didn't buy any VRC and participate because as others have said getting info about what is actually happening is very awkward. The devs have made the incorrect assumption that people know as much about VRC and this ICO as they do and haven't made it accessible. It going live late at night, precluding anybody who actually wants to sleep from getting good value is ridiculous.

It was expected that phase 1 would be on offer for 24 hours or so, but demand was overwhelming.

It went live at 7pm EST, 4pm West Coast USA, 8am much of Asia. Whatever time it was, someone would be sleeping !

how can i participate to the ico ?!

i only see the timer ..

In 12 days or so , you can participate (phase 2). Phase 1 was fully subscribed much more quickly than expected.

No doubt there are plenty of issues to keep the team occupied at present, but I wanted to point out that a proper strategy is essential at this juncture, regarding incentives to invest VRC in phase 2.

At 6:1 , a lot of VRC has come in for a quick turn (a couple months). The 40% 'discount' was the incentive there, but there is a likelihood that phase 2 will attract very little, unless there is significant incentive.

The  devs have good planning ability, so they may well have something in mind, just interested to know. FWIW , I subscribed (not for short term btw) what I wanted to Phase 1 : If people like me could be persuaded to add more in phase 2, then the project will succeed in a big way.

Yes you can as long as you have the private key for the address where Verium is to be sent you are all good. Doesn't matter where ICO investment VRC comes from.

OK, thanks.

When is the Verium wallet downloadable? And do you need to update the vericoin wallet the 20th to do the swap?

The Verium wallet will be released after the ICO, the exact date is not yet determined but not long after after ICO ends. To partake in ICO you need the current VeriCoin wallet available now at http://www.vericoin.info/ to generate a Verium public and private key pair for import into the released Verium wallet. There will be a walk through on those steps as we get closer to ICO but you can export and generate this key pair very easily in the current wallet 1.6.5 via the file menu export private key option. Verium and VeriCoin keys are the same format.

Thanks for info.

Can you explain how the ICO will work ? How will VRC in an address be subscribed for Verium ?

There will be a web interface that will present you with a VRC address for which you can perform one send to for the ICO.  Then you will submit a VRC public key address into the site and that will be the address that you receive the Verium at when the wallet is released.  You can either use a currently existing VeriCoin address or generate a new one, but you must do it in the wallet so you can export the private key via the file menu for import into the Verium wallet.  VeriCoin and Verium addresses are the same format.  The same public key and private key pair can be used on either blockchain.

Thanks.  Just to be sure , does the VRC to be sent to the ICO address have to be in the current VRC 1.6.5 wallet ? (ie not possible from an exchange,  or a javascript client in a browser etc )

it has to be from 1.6.5 or some other method that gives you the private key, because you need to hold the private key to claim the Verium on the Verium blockchain. It's just a regular VeriCoin address that you hold private key for.

Sorry, I didn't clarify the question : confused about whether the VRC sending address necessarily HAS to be linked to the Verium receiving address .. eg. I have VRC in an exchange, plus VRC in 1.6.5 wallet : so can I send direct from the exchange (using the address specified in the web interface in my wallet) and specify my wallet address (or any other, eg paperwallet, under my control) for the Verium to go to ?

hey guys. tl,dr
I'm holding some vrc bags. Can you give me a very short summary why i would want to exchange my vrc to verium? thanks

10x less supply.  It's a commodity like gold.  So its like having some good and cash on hand.

His question was still not answered. I understand how the whole thing benefits VRC in a lot of ways, but I still cannot understand why people who have VRC will want to exchange it to VRM? It seams like this was not really thought out very well? I understand the ICO discount etc. etc. but what gives value to VRM in the long run? The way I see it, it will always be viewed as VRCs ugly fat little brother and will start to loose value as soon as the initial hype is over. I also understand you will try to keep it 1:10 ratio but this does not mean that the market price will be proportional.

This reminds me of the emperor's new clothes where we all pretend that Verium is so cool until somebody actually starts asking questions.

Maybe this will help more

https://www.vericoinforums.com/threads/explaining-the-verium-vericoin-relationship.1330/#post-19306

That explains the mining and technical setup, but I am not really seeing what the purpose of VRM is (ie real world use or plan for distribution).

...or is it simply a matter of creating a secure and strong network at this stage, hoping that purpose will follow later ?
890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: July 03, 2016, 10:18:05 AM
hey guys,

sorry i havent replied to this for a while; but i thought itd simply be easier coming back with some positive news instead of potentially disappointing you.

i am at the final stages of confirming whether the upcoming changes will work seamlessly. i've got code in alpha stage, aiming to implement a working cross-chain mechanism, where will involve a brand new blockchain. this means a much smaller blockchain that doesnt grow as quickly as the existing supercoin chain, quicker to sync, as well as being able to send SUPER directly to the NEW CHAIN with no modifications required to the existing client.

the biggest surprise?
since i've attempted to keep the sending function as compatible with SUPER as possible; adding other currencies is simply trivial. this also includes making sure that once sent to the new chain, devious types cannot 'respend' their sent currencies with their original wallet.

another interesting feature i've been playing with is the 'transactional load' based miner. as we've all seen with bitcoin's empty profit-based blocks (mainly f2pool/antpool), why does the chain need to move and consume diskspace if theres no one staking/no transactions?

i hope this news is exciting for some as i've had fun (and some frustration) writing it.

donations are welcome; any who donate a significant amount will have their name listed on the splash/about screen (make sure you PM me after sending and let me know which txid is yours)

Will be really interesting to see how this works !
891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [EMC] EmerCoin — Innovative blockchain services! ( PoW&PoS - SHA-256) on: June 19, 2016, 09:36:47 AM
I decided to hold and increase my stake of Emercoin. The case of Ethereum and Dao has shown that coins like Emercoin belongs the future. Emercoin is still under the radar of most businesses and investors but I am very sure that it will change sometime in the future. There is not a coin which offers more or at least the same tech as Emercoin does.

Btw. is there any reason why the price got pumped to more than 100% three days ago before it dumped back to the starting price (just looked at the coinmarketcap chart) ?

I agree with you wholeheartedly!

I believe what appeared to be a pump was simply someone buying in or increasing stock at the cheap rate. Of course they ended up paying a little extra in the process as the sell orders were filled. The price should be above that peak anyway.

Not enough trade to absorb a large buy. The offers are thin enough to require a large buyer to pay a premium. That discourages the sort of buyers that can take the coin forward.

That is one apparent irony of alt trading. Unless there are already offers (sales) in large amounts, a potential whale investor (who might want a large stake before they assist in other ways) is not going to be interested.

The corollary to it is that a very thin bid stops potential sellers, and a buy wall enables a falling price..

If clever large holders want a good coin to move forward, they often make some big blocks, like several % of the supply, available at a low (ie the current trade) price : Putting up a big sell wall for an extended period eventually enables better distribution.

I like this coin, but HBN needs to change to stay alive

What is your most important technical concern to change on this coin?

As far as tech goes, the memory intensive wallet seems to be a drawback for many holders. However , the need to keep the client open for a long period of time (or permanently) contributes to the security and strength of the network.

I always have at least 24 connections and up to 55 at times. There are very few other alts that get near that.
893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [EMC] EmerCoin — Innovative blockchain services! ( PoW&PoS - SHA-256) on: June 16, 2016, 08:21:13 AM
In an attempt to quell rising frustrations from boiling over I am going to give a much needed update and some perspective. While I am no longer a part of the Emercoin team I feel it important given the current state of affairs. This will help set expectations so I will attempt to address the main concerns:

Team:

The dev group is very focused on internal matters and has little time to dedicate towards community-based endeavors. They are a hard working group from Russia and are extremely active in the Russian blockchain community, where Emercoin enjoys popularity. The technology the group has developed is ahead of its time in my opinion for a blockchain offering, requiring more promotion and adoption to showcase the strengths of their blockchain-based services. The group is growing in size every month so there is reason to be optimistic here provided there is some organization and professionalism displayed when engaging with the public.

Distribution:

There has been much concern expressed regarding the distribution of EMC. The currency was not pre-mined however a very large block subsidy (bonus) at the beginning allowed early adopters to gain dominating positions of EMC. Because Emercoin is not a formal company but a group of talented enthusiasts, funding must come from internal sources, opposed to the public. This reality is a growth constraint for many reasons so it makes logical sense the dev group will control a large amount of the existing EMC. This acts as an incentive for them to continually build Emercoin while simultaneously acting as a funding source for future projects.

Liquidity:

This comes back to the amount of entry / exit ramps for EMC, via the exchanges. A good percentage of this thread is dedicated to inquiring why Poloniex has not listed Emercoin yet after 2.5 years. The group has attempted on dozens of occasions with no luck,  including getting assistance from industry professionals. I cannot say if EMC will be listed on Poloniex however there are many other exchanges EMC can be listed on. Lastly, improving the liquidity situation should be a priority for the group, as it is not a guarantee a EMC holder will be able to convert to BTC in the current environment. This can be a very scary reality which keeps traders away and thus further hurts distribution and ultimately adoption.

Community:

Many people have requested feedback and active engagement within the industry from the dev group over the years. Because of the philosophy of the group to focus on work matters, the current level of engagement has been consistent from the start of the project. The cultural barriers presented including language have acerbated the situation to the point now where people have given up on Emercoin or they have resigned themselves to the current reality of the dev group.

Improving the visibility and image of Emercoin will help them grow within the industry. This is the single biggest area of improvement the group can focus on in the future. Taking some time to work with the people you expect to adopt your services and purchase your currency is vitally important:

- A presence at blockchain conferences so you can be known outside of the forums

- AMA (ask me anything) on Reddit to engage in the community so they can discover who you are

- Present a road map so the pubic has some level of transparency into your long term vision

- Give Emercoin an identity it can establish and be known for as a blockchain

- Hire a group of English speaking enthusiasts to promote Emercoin within the community

Technology:

By far the strongest aspect of the project, the technology Emercoin has is what has got them to where they are today. There is constant innovation taking place behind the scenes and I can tell you some of the projects slated for development are leading edge. To make these projects successful as possible post-development my suggestion is Emercoin take the time to establish a legal entity. Your competitors have found ways to do this and take in investment capital to grow.

Without this ability to keep pace the threat grows of being left behind. All of the technological advancements in the World will not make a difference should few companies and individuals chose to adopt them. This goes for the currency as well, so at some point more emphasis must be allocated to Emercoin's image given how good the technology already is.

Price:

Very little I can comment on here for those that are visibly upset. Emercoin has been in a free fall since the beginning of April, before the Bitcoin run-up. The Dev team is definitely not going to come to the forum here and assuage investors concerns about the price dropping. The market is very thin and thus easy to manipulate if one has a large amount of EMC, everything else is pure speculation. Buying at these prices means you believe in the project long term and its vision.

I hope the dev team takes a serious look into some of the very real constraints hindering the project currently. I also trust the community will be patient and understand that a tremendous amount of good work has been accomplished by a relatively small group working outside of their culture and native skill set. Emecoin will need to decide soon if it is a project blockchain or a company blockchain. This is not 2012 any longer, the competition is very real and coming very fast in an open source environment. For the sake of Emercoin and the underlying currency (EMC), the decision better be made soon.

Thanks for all that.  You have good analysis and communication here, addressing the correct issues.  Day to Day Exchange rate price is relatively unimportant, but in the long run it will follow utility, once there is enough adoption. Technical issues come first, but after that, a small incremental growth in public attention is the right way to go .

Can someone explain us why the price collapse many weeks now...? Embarrassed
It looks like someone try to drop Emercoin...
I want to know,my EMC value has shrinked by 75%. Angry Angry Angry Angry

now can someone explain the jump up with 270%?  Roll Eyes

Don't watch the price. It is subject to speculation like many alts.

The Dev has given a good update, and that is the most important guide to future value.

...use 9 rounds of hashing including 3 random rounds, which gave security, but also turned out to be very fast and efficient.

Hmm,

Best Solution for the Time Being is pretty obvious.

Barrysty1e should do the swap, since it can be done quickly.

Griffith , your New Job is your Primary Responsibility and that is totally understandable.
After the Swap you will have a few years to Completely Perfect your Designs and it can be added at that later time.
Rushing it out before all of the kinks are worked out would hurt more than help.

Before the swap , the new block speed needs to be decided, 90 seconds would be a good choice , decreased orphans & much faster syncing , it has my vote.

 Cool

Sounds fine to me.

It would be helpful to have some prospective technicals (ie only the changes) for the new chain.

+1 TvZ
Waiting is patience and patience is often profits. Waiting is my fav part about all this. We got a new guy on board to work with the current team, if you wanna call it a takeover thats fine.
Stake and Hold.

Agree. The Community will keep Super alive and healthy. Give developers space and time.
898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: June 08, 2016, 09:09:37 AM
Griffith is a competent developer, but is not able to work full time on Super. Collaboration would be ideal.

I often see that good develpers come in for unjustified criticism on the Forum, and it's a tough job !
899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: June 07, 2016, 11:42:23 PM

For the moment, the practical thing is: we can keep our xch only on the clearwallet

Maybe convert them into an XCP token !

Edit ironic that Gemz and XDP are also being delisted :

XCH can be sent to a Paperwallet for now.
900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: SUPERCOIN'S REVIVAL on: June 07, 2016, 11:29:51 PM
Neat idea would be to run Supercoin through a block explorer and log all balances (besides dust), nullify the chain by changing pchMessage bytes, change block value for block 1 to a suitable amount which could encompass total values of addresses that we've logged, relaunch chain and then distribute on block 2.

Other variables could be changed to reflect current state of coin including block reward etc.

This way everyone can just dump their existing addresses via dumpprivkey; move to new wallet, reimport the keys and everything should be (relatively) as it was. Except the wallet isn't chugging through 2,000,000 blocks to sync; or verify when a new key is added.

About 4 hours work.
Note - I do not hold any SUPER; someone has approached me asking how this coin could be made 'SUPER' again.

barrystyle

I'd be more than happy to actually take care of and do this work.

It's all great to chip in with ideas but means nada without an implementation.
A manual chainswap is painful; one using existing addresses and amounts is trivial.

I see a lot of people claiming they want to see SUPER succeed but aren't willing to support such an effort in any way - talk is cheap. Can I get a few people onboard here?

Thanks...I would support that proposal.
