581  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will lead the world's current market on: January 27, 2023, 07:56:09 PM
~
Yeah this is pretty much it. There were people still asking back then if Bitcoin would even take over our local currencies and become a global currency instead. It just does not make sense for me for something decentralized to take over on centralized economy.

I can just imagine Bitcoin being like those alternative payment methods you can see in every e-commerce sites along with the usual other alternatives like credit cards from banks and stuffs.

Well I have never encountered any friends or people that would make me choose coins for them. Their money, their risk, their responsibility. I hope you just cut off your connections with them since I would pretty much imagine that annoyance that they can cause.

I can see that if you helped them in the end, they won't credit you for it and they would write stories about their success. Fuck that, man.
Don't just ignore them, OP. Cut connections with them also. No one's going to enable their lazy asses.
583  Economy / Economics / Re: In your country, today is money the real root of all evil? on: January 27, 2023, 05:08:49 PM
-
It's the humans that are naturally evil. Pretty sure that even in stone age, people were still fighting over resources just to survive. Money is like just a medium of people to do evil, but it is not necessary to call it the "root of evil". That's like a boomer sayings back in the days and it is a stale saying now these days.

I guess because on how people are desperate into getting power through money, that saying becomes like the norm.
584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes you into crypto at the moment? on: January 27, 2023, 04:48:59 PM

Pandemic is already starting to slow down and somehow I understand that people are now hyped into crypto just because of how almost everyone has the access to buy it. I thought IEOs along with ICOs were like a thing from the past now though either way, those were the hypes that's why the people around you were joining.

Might be an off topic, but it is also worth mentioning that due to lack of jobs, people were also freelancing. I had plenty competitors when I was freelancing last year.
585  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Your successes over the past 5 years on: January 26, 2023, 09:07:25 PM
~
I would be  hella depressed if I lose everything, lol.

I would not call it "success" since there is no conclusion yet here in my end, but so far so good and my profits were "more than what I expected". Back in 2017-2018, I do have a lot of losses when I attempted to trade though and I just call it quits there since it ain't just worth it for my time plus my money.

One notable part of the "so far so good" for me was that when Bitcoin reached 64k just couple of years ago.

586  Economy / Economics / Re: Keeping money and keeping bitcoins? are they similar? on: January 26, 2023, 07:17:32 PM
~
Just similar with minor differences, OP. You're saving something of a value that you might be able to use it for future uses and a plus factor for Bitcoin is that it could grow in value overtime, the usual investment stuff that we are always aware of.
Even though price of Bitcoin might decrease at one point, 1 BTC = 1 BTC.

Oh and another point worth mentioning is that saving Bitcoin won't have any authorities involved.....depending on where you store it.
587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Free crypto possible ? Or impossible? on: January 25, 2023, 08:36:58 PM

I believe I saw ICOs at the latest like 2 years ago and I am not sure if they are still somehow existing to this day, but I know they're nowhere now considering how it turned out back in 2017 when scams just like went crazy and there were tons of thread here, exactly at this board, asking if ICOs are still worth it, scam, blah blah blah...

Airdrops same goes for these ICOs. Those two are really like a tandem back in 2017. There would be no ICOs without airdrops and vice versa.
588  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: January 25, 2023, 08:32:15 PM
~
Yeah, having a loan just because you need it and have nothing to guarantee that you will be able to pay back is going to bite one in the ass. Imagine having that piece of land that is truly yours and you will have no landlords nagging you every day about your rent.

Staying at a friend's house is quite a little bit of a different story depending on the family situations sometimes. There would be those that do not want to burden their parents further, so they would choose to be at their friend's house instead.
589  Economy / Economics / Re: Is renting an inevitable waste of money? on: January 25, 2023, 06:31:45 PM
You and your partner should talk about it and what are your plans that both of you should agreed.
Having a house is like another investment, but it is heck of a worth of an investment in the end. I had rented before in the short term and it is almost like throwing away money just to survive and have a roof temporarily. I would just rent if my workplace was like really far from my home, but if transportation could handle it anyway, I would prioritize that first.

Me and my partner have a plan of having house first before being together. Not sure why living with parents is looked down in other countries, while in here, it is technically fine.
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: shiba inu coin, now ranked 13th in cmc on: January 25, 2023, 06:23:59 PM
Shiba Inu created with no actual reason and just want to be an alternative after the success of Dogecoin so we can't really talk about its potential cause it doesn't have any real utility or problem to solve. And its a known fact that it is one of the coin highly manipulated by whales so don't be a prey for them, if you are in profits then just get out as soon as possible and invest on something worth.
Yeah, it was just like a meme coin from what we can hear anyway. I believe Doge has somehow a little bit of use where I read somewhere that they are being used in casinos at least, but still we all know it was made for a meme cause why would someone name a certain coin after a popular meme.

I believe there are various casinos accepting Doge, but I cannot mention it otherwise I would be like advertising their business.
591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: shiba inu coin, now ranked 13th in cmc on: January 24, 2023, 09:43:27 PM

It's all just a meme, landheer. Let's see how that coin would perform in these upcoming weeks. Pretty sure it just followed on how Bitcoin manage to get past 20k and some users would just go and buy the crap out of these meme coins.

I would never drop a single coin to Shiba ever even if it unrealistically surpasses Bitcoin in the ranks let alone any other meme coins out there. I had not invested money for hypes.

You're not obliged to make a topic, OP. In fact you might even spend years/decades just reading around here and/or replying to some threads rather than being able to create topics. Last topic I created was like 3 years ago about the incident in my account and that was it.

I do not have that much time to maintain and keep up with the discussion/s so I just refuse to create one and that's totally fine. Similar to my experience in Reddit where I almost never create topic, just reading around subs.
593  Economy / Economics / Re: Does a side job/business improve your finanical stability ? on: January 22, 2023, 06:07:46 PM
~
Freelancing became like the common side hustle during Covid and due to comfort of being able to work from home, it seemed like it became like another side hustle to do even if people still have their own 9-5s. It does not just add financial stability in the short-term, but also adds that financial cushion for people that are seemingly doing enough with their regular jobs. It can even be not the career you're looking for or interested in since I did VA which is not really my typical career to follow, but would be willing to work as a side hustle just for additional income.

As long as it allows you to generate additional income that is outside of what you earn in your regular job, I think it is safe to say that it is a "side job".
594  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trade vs. HODL - avoid traps on: January 21, 2023, 09:40:43 PM
Holy crap! This thread is spot on from what I experienced when I attempted day trading back then. I don't even know what most of those terminologies meant in the "trading" image.
I took some time to learn day trading through Youtube (I believe it was Cryptojack channel that taught me not sure if the channel is still active though), since I was not fan of just reading books and not being able to see the demonstration of how signals are used. Binance was the first exchange I tried since it's the most mentioned one at that time.

I only knew some instruments like Bollinger Bands and RSI and I thought that just by simply following the tutorial would somehow give me a satisfying results/profits, but nah. It all ended up in a loss and just by learning and watching throughout the whole tutorial I was already exhausted considering I also have my 9-5 and I was only trading in hopes of having some side hustle. I just went on and go full hodling and call it there. Best decision of my life.

There might be some people really earning a lot from trading, but I won't go through those hoops of mental exhaustion ever again. Trading is not meant everybody.

Love the tl;dr by the way, sums up what should I had done instead. I could have invested it more in learning programming instead. Smiley
595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you want to be great? Then be ready to learn. on: January 21, 2023, 09:26:14 PM

Well people went through there including....me although it was a little bit different in my own experience back in my teenager years. I thought that Bitcoin was like sort of illegal coin used in the dark web for the usual stuffs that we all know is unacceptable.

I never thought of it as a scam though my former friends before think it was. Maybe if I had get rid of my misconception to what BTC is before, I could have bought a single coin or two considering on how expensive dollar value is here in my country. Cheesy
596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why most of airdrops don't pay participants with tokens in these days?? on: January 21, 2023, 07:50:19 PM
~
Would up this again if I would since one particular project tried to  even steal my MEW wallet back in the days and thankfully I was not fool enough to just be baited into their phishing site. I know people still fall for those, but come on, that was like an old fashioned way. Cheesy

Kinda scary to those who really went all in and disclosed their personal information though.
597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto exchanges market affected by ICOs? on: January 20, 2023, 10:05:12 PM
How ICOs affected the market of exchanges?
ICOs were like half of a decade ago. I am pretty sure that even if those still exist to these days, they're unlikely to still affect the current market we have right now. Many ended up a failure anyway, MrDave so I guess if there's minimal effect that we're going to be anticipating it would be just those investors cashing out their money, but again why would those still exist to this day?

We have been to IEOs, STOs and....yeah NFTs.
598  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is risky, be conscious on: January 20, 2023, 10:00:45 PM
What would be your advice for those wanting to trade as a newbie?
Oh no... trading? Got to tell ya that I had the same thought as those people back then and I thought that just because of doing such hardwork would do and would give me plenty of profits in a day. Turns out it.....is not.
Trading is not something that worked for me at all since the consistency that I needed are not going to happen as I also had that 9-5 work.

My advice for newbies would be background check yourself first. Do you have the means to learn tools in whatever exchange you're trading? Bollinger band? RSI? Can you be consistent and willing to commit a lot of time waiting for the market to turn into your favor throughout the day?
599  Economy / Economics / Re: We are not out of the woods yet on: January 20, 2023, 07:20:40 PM

Oh yeah the 2019? Was that the time that Bitcoin went down below 5k, if I can recall correctly?

It did not bother me though since I was already all-in to Bitcoin at that point and buying would be like a beneficial thing to do instead of the opposite. There would be always times like these and that's a good thing sometimes. If the money you used for crypto are worth losing anyway so why get bothered? I don't spend my time worrying too much about how Bitcoin will rise or fall in the next coming month. Don't want those overnight thoughts that would keep me overnight. Cheesy
600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of NFT on: January 20, 2023, 07:14:36 PM

Can't help but to think of it on how these NFTs are still relevant to this day. Aren't these like way past of the current trend now? If Bitcoin would somehow get back to 64k plus, I am kinda curious if the hype would then revived. There were NFT games here in my country that were hot trend back then and people would even apply for scholarship, but then they went silent after Bitcoin plummeted.

I can imagine all those trends becoming trend again, but I am setting my expectations low
