621  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: March 13, 2024, 06:29:30 PM
After yesterday's monster win I think I'll go for some more long odds today.  I'm not sure what's going on with the Raptors that the Pistons are the favorites, but unless I'm reading this wrong it looks like they'll be in Toronto, which is a nice party scene change from Detroit.  I think most of their players will be hungover by tipoff so I'm going with the Raptors.  The rest of the games should work themselves out.

Detroit Pistons - Toronto Raptors
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Toronto Raptors

Indiana Pacers - Chicago Bulls
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Indiana Pacers

Miami Heat - Denver Nuggets
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Denver Nuggets

Dallas Mavericks - Golden State Warriors
Winner (Incl. Overtime)
Dallas Mavericks

Odds
6.91

This is unfortunately the bad side of crypto. Once your funds are taken, they’re gone and there isn’t much you or anyone can do about it. If you proved your case there’s a chance they could lock the thief’s account, but I’m sure they withdrew everything before that could happen. I think we’ve all fallen victim to a scam at some point. You just need to use it as a learning experience and know that next time you’ll be prepared.
623  Other / Meta / Re: Should speculation about satoshi's identity be subject to doxxing rules? on: March 13, 2024, 05:42:20 PM
That’s the current state of the various networks here.
Can you give us a few examples? I have never witnessed DT1 people meriting doxxers.

I would be the perfect example. I was doxxed by a member here and that member was merited by merit sources for the doxxing as well as is currently included in the trust networks of some of the most popular DT members, one of who even supposedly wrote the book on proper usage of the trust network.  Cheesy

It’s actually a joke what the trust network has become but most are afraid to do the right thing because they know that they would be retaliated against, so as long as they aren’t the targets it’s fine with them.

I’ll let someone else ‘name names’ but it’s pretty shocking that this could happen to me, one of the most trusted and established users here while nobody even seems to care or notice. Imagine what chance regular users have when these people gang up on them. Absolutely none. That’s how they want it though.
624  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: March 13, 2024, 05:17:58 PM
I have been coming across this thread very often, sometimes I go through the thread and see people who are and has remained willing to get into this challenge. I'm quite a bit disappointed in myself for not picking up the challenge from the very beginning, when now it seems like this challenge is just part of the reason why Bitcoin is hitting new mile stones all of a sudden  Cheesy

Watching Bitcoin grow in value is something we ought to be happy about, and I am interested and love to join the challenge till we get to the $100k value. For me doing a hundred (100) pushup is not certain but I believe I can do a good amount.

Just part of the reason? This challenge has more influence on the Bitcoin price than the ETFs! OK, maybe not. Still though, it is a great distraction to keep you from selling off your BTC too early and instead focus on your health and building strength so that you can handle the things in life that money can’t take care of for you.
625  Other / Meta / Re: Should speculation about satoshi's identity be subject to doxxing rules? on: March 13, 2024, 05:13:32 PM
Even when someone is doxxed here nothing is done. The user gets a slap on the wrist and then goes right back to it so I’m not sure what OP is wanting to see here. You can literally dox someone and get merited for it from merit sources and included into the DefaultTrust network by shady people. That’s the current state of the various networks here.
626  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake loses $615k bet on Joshua-Ngannou bout on: March 13, 2024, 09:46:36 AM
The kiss of death when it comes to Drake placing bets on Stake is real. I feel like Suga Sean is the only bet he’s ever won. Next big fight I might have to just bet against whatever Drake posts regardless of however I feel about the event. That seems to be a winning strategy looking back historically.
627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Pez dispenser (limited edition) on: March 13, 2024, 09:41:42 AM
I grabbed one from Walmart a few months ago. The price was right but it did arrive pretty dented so as a collector’s item that was a bit disappointing. I’m surprised these are still available if they’re limited. There’s a good topic about it in the collectibles section somewhere.
628  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: March 13, 2024, 07:09:23 AM
40 days in the books for me since starting this challenge. That’s 4,000 push-ups! I’m glad to see Bitcoin rallying so hard with the hope that we will soon be able to declare victory over this challenge. With a little luck we’ll get there before the halving so we can all get some much needed rest for our muscles.

Hope anyone can share the $150 coupon code via PM Grin. Here in India the custom duties are whopping 36%. With shipping and duties it is almost half of the amount.

What is this coupon code you speak of?  This is the only time I've seen it mentioned.  I did see that gift cards through Fold were available temporarily with a cash back % offer.

I preorder standard unit, releise date?

We are getting ready to start shipping this month. Tail end of pre-orders might slip into bigining of April but majority should go out by end of the month!

FYI follow the @futurebit account on X for more regular updates.

If we placed an order today for shipping in the United States, when could we realistically expect to receive a unit?

I'm glad to see that you guys continue to roll out new units.  There aren't enough people building miners for 110v home users that don't want to sound like they live in an airplane hanger.
630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Monte Carlo fallacy on: March 13, 2024, 05:45:00 AM
Hi community,

The gambler's fallacy, also known as the Monte Carlo fallacy, is the mistaken belief that if a certain thing has happened more frequently than usual during the past, it is less likely to happen in the future (or vice versa), when it is otherwise proven that the probability of such events occurring is not It depends on what happened in the past. Such events, which are historically independent, are referred to as statistically independent. For example, the next dice roll is likely to be a six because the number of dice has recently been lower than the usual number of six.

Perhaps the majority of gamblers know this , especially the professionals and old-timers. Personally, I always fall into this trap.

-What is your analysis about this trick?

While what you say is true to some extent, I don't believe it is a 100% accurate statement.  For example, if you flip a coin any number of times, it will at some point if you go long enough be results of 50/50.  That means if you get WAY out of line with that, luck insists that it will balance out and thus the odds going forward must favor one to the other.  Does that mean you can predict the next flip or that the odds are necessarily higher?  Not really, but one also has to say that it does have slightly different odds otherwise a return to the odds of 50/50 couldn't be relied on to happen.
631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: March 13, 2024, 05:05:46 AM
Some long odds for me today but I feel somewhat good about this one.  I think the Timberwolves look at the Clippers like they've got a point to prove.  Without KAT it will be tough, but I think Anthony Edwards might be able to pull it off.  We'll see...  The rest of the picks aren't as risky, but with odds at 13.36 I think this is a good bet to make.  Smiley
-snip-
I'm surprised you pick Timberwolves even it is against Los Angeles Clippers. You already mentioned there's no KAT (out of the remaining season) so for me it will be very hard to Timberwolves to win this game. Not just this game but the remaining season. Timberwolves really need KAT for able to won championship this season. Also this game is home court advantage for the LA Clippers. So for me i will pick La Clippers over Wolves. The rest of your pick is okay.

Good thing I did and I'll tell you why.  A couple of games ago when these two teams met Anthony Edwards was making comments and laughing at the Clippers because they're too old.  Ever since then he has absolutely dominated the Clippers and you can tell he takes it personally when they play.  I think he's the best player on the court when they match up and he takes the opportunity to show it.  Not a bad parlay for me tonight on this one.  13.36 odds makes up for a whole lot of losses in a row.  Smiley
632  Economy / Speculation / Re: At what price will you bitcoin holders sell if we have a major price spike? on: March 12, 2024, 07:04:59 PM
I’ve been saying for about 6 years now that $200K is my price. If we hit that level it will be difficult for me to continue being a holder because I will be able to do pretty much everything I’ve ever dreamed of, with the exception of owning the Sacramento Kings, but that pipe dream may be forever out of reach.
633  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2024, 05:42:20 PM
It also looks like this charge downward is being led by bitfinex, which makes me think that it's a lot of people putting in shorts in an attempt to profit from a falling price...  This might end up being dangerous for them as another move up and more liquidations near the all time high can cause a short squeeze pretty easily.  Ultimately, it's squeezing the shorts that will make this market go parabolic now.  The ETFs make it so easy for anyone to short BTC, the market building up a lot of shorts is inevitable.  I think their timing is off though and it could sting them...  Imagine going short right before supply is cut in half.  That can't be a winning bet.
634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: March 12, 2024, 05:39:47 PM
I was out for a couple of days, didn't watch any game, but when I look at the final score and see this in social media?

Damn, TJD is really specially, another great catch by the Warriors and the more that they give him time, the more he is getting better. But we should give credit to Wemby as well, he is not afraid to be posterized. He will go and chase for that block whoever it is. Warriors needed this big win, to stay close with the Lakers at 10th position and at least a play-in chance.
He was posterized few times but this guy is leading in blocks and making history. Although people loved that but Wemby is still has to be respected with his achievement. I think even great players are also posterized, don't know but I think Lebron and has been posterized too once in his life, even AD I guess.

Anyway, the Warriors won this game and they were able to avenge their loss, now their ranking is at solid number 10, but I don't want them to end in 10, maybe improve a bit so their chance in the playoffs will increase.
That is exactly what makes things so entertaining when he gets posterized as well. I mean if you posterize someone like lets say Kevin Love, specially at this age, when he literally has grays in his hair, and was never a great blocker or anything, then would that made any news? Of course not, that's normal and you could posterize him and just move on, that would be just an ordinary possession and nobody would even think about it twice.

But, if you posterize a 7'5 centre who has been leading the league in blocking at his rookie season, which is something I can't think when was the last time a rookie did that, then it is a lot better for the views, it only makes the news when you posterize someone like that. That's actually good for Wemby, shows that he is actually not thought as someone who can be posterized, so people make it a news when it happens.

Posterizing big guys has always been popular in the NBA.  Mosgov was a favorite recently among players like Blake Griffin, but going back further I remember people always wanting to get the best of Shawn Bradley too.  Whenever we talk about posterizing big guys though, we can't let the conversation end without talking about what Vince Carter did in the Olympics.  Him jumping over that 7 footer to dunk is in my opinion the greatest in game dunk that the sport of basketball has ever seen.  Google it if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Interesting how BTC took a dump last Tuesday also.

Probably just Grayscale shenanigans I suspect.

I noticed that as well.  If we're too believe in some weekly conspiracy then in about 2 hours we should see the market hit bottom and then start to recover.  While it is a bit disheartening to see us now a decent amount off the highs, it is somewhat important to remember that we're still only knocked back 3 days price wise.  With so much coming in the form of increased investment by funds and the halving, I would still be a little hesitant to sell here.  Even if we do fall for the next month, I find it hard to believe that we won't see a new all time high after the halving.  Stay strong!
636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake loses $615k bet on Joshua-Ngannou bout on: March 12, 2024, 05:12:17 PM
Drake isn't the only one that lost that bet.  I think most of us did.  It was more wishful thinking than anything else for me personally, as I really like Ngannou and wanted to see him crossover to a different sport and beat the best of the best.  After the Fury fight I thought he'd be able to give Joshua a run for his money, but it seems like maybe more boxing training left him as a less dangerous fighter.  I can't lie, he looked really bad in this last fight.  It somewhat makes Fury look like a worse fighter as well that he got knocked down by Ngannou and probably should have lost their fight.

How much bitcoin (in percent) do you guys have of bitcoin in your overall portfolio?

I have nearly 30%, which i always thought to be quiet large.. however, I have the feelings it should be more now. at least 50%  Cheesy

I have no shitcoins, just traditional investments.

I am the one with 100% Bitcoin.

I have zero interest in Alts or Shit coins.

I’m about 1% alts. A large majority of that was from airdrops and giveaways. When it comes to alts I’ve probably purchased 0.1%. That being said, I’ve had a great deal of fun with that 0.1% and have explored probably more use cases than with the 99% stack of my BTC. So for entertainment purposes, alts are certainly king.
639  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: March 12, 2024, 04:27:23 PM
The San Francisco 49ers losing their run stopper and captain because they wanted him to take a lower salary is going to hurt them. When you look at the numbers when he was out the Niners run defense was terrible. I get that they want to boost their receiver core, but I don’t think they stand a chance of getting back to the Super Bowl now with their run defense.
640  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [POLL] Using AI to predict outcomes on: March 12, 2024, 04:16:34 PM
It looks like 2/3s of people wouldn’t be open to letting Artificial Intelligence select their bets.  I can understand why as people (especially sports bettors) would like to have their destiny in their own hands. I think once AI does start making gambling predictions and people can see the outcomes, maybe things will change.
