761  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I think gambling is inbuilt, kids don't learn it anywhere, they do it! on: October 20, 2023, 03:41:37 PM
The Australian Government once said about abolishing gambling ads as a means of reducing gambling activities amongst underage people. But, I think they'll be no successful way of stopping young people from gambling. As it's in them. Most articles here also say things like gambling addiction being hereditary. That means gambling can be hereditary as well. Because I just watched from a distant two kids below 10 years, staking bets, after a long argument about who the artiste of a specific song is. They later staked close to 40 cents each, for the person who gets the answer right. Then they went ahead to verify. And I lost sight of them. I thought about, how come or who thought these kids about betting money during a long argument. I was able to memorize, back when I was a kid. We easily said, how much would you bet if it turns out I'm saying the truth; during an argument. It made me understand that, despite during those days we had no phones or access to the internet, gambling is somehow embedded to the brain of humans. Then, as a child, we weren't exposed to gambling. I could only remember of lotto, as a kid. But we still said things like "let's bet it"

Every child knows and loves games. I believe that this fact does not change, even when the child has become an adult. And that is basically 99% of what gambling is. Playing games, having fun. Although there is also the part about having to give up money in order to experience this "fun". Although I am more than sure that for most people, losing is never fun. In my own personal experience it is quite frustrating. But as adults, we understand the nature and risks of gambling games, so there cannot be any blame placed upon gambling itself.
762  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I am only trying to stay safe by gambling less on: October 20, 2023, 03:16:25 AM
I am not a gambling addict but some friends are making me look like one because I gamble less and they gamble more, it all started when we got into an argument that investing in Bitcoin is not the same as gambling, my friends who are gamblers, not full-time but more of a gambler than I am, are claiming that there is no difference between investing and gambling, they said if all you doing is investing money on Bitcoin you are no different to those who are gambling in a casino.

Still, I refuse this because I believe they are wrong, Bitcoin market has charts and I am playing with charts even if I am a full-time Bitcoin trader, all I need to do is read charts, and if I am good at it I will win vs gambling, where it's you vs a company which we can never tell if their games are completely fair or not.

Furthermore, I told them that Bitcoin investors tend to get positive results, while online casino gamblers tend to get negative results more than positive result, true or false?

I asked them to show me prove that they make more from gambling than they lose, none of them showed me, but I prove to them that I hardly have losses investing in Bitcoin lol .

Famz, drop your opinion on this, would you categorize these two as gambling? Because the only winning factor from Bitcoin investment is to just buy low and wait for a high price, it's not the same with casinos. Am I not making sense? I will like to hear from you.

Rather than asking yourself the nature of your risk-taking to be a good or bad thing, you should be looking at past data. How much profits have you made? Have you made losses? How often? Take a look at the past and you can "copy paste" that timeline into an imagined future. Because the reality is, if you are making nothing but losses then the probability of you also making only losses in the future is quite high.

Ripple XRP CEO Brad Garlinghouse releases statement following SEC dropping lawsuit against him. (Source: Watcher.Guru)

These lawsuits costed tax payers an estimated $260 million.

I was stunned that ripple won .  I actually thought the SEC had a good case.

Based on these results I think the SEC will need to let  Btc have Their way.

The Bitcoin ETF crowd has gained new strength, it seems. They were trying to force a ETF-hype pump with the fake ETF announcement news serving as the foundation. Now they have the hype going. But can they make it last until we get the real ETF news?  Huh
764  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casinos not asking for KYC to register and play, but do require it to withdraw on: October 20, 2023, 01:36:49 AM
The fact is that T&C may be just to difficult to understand, so even if they put a KYC first, then you still may be subject to some conditions for the withdrawal that you may not be be happy with. There best way is to check for reputation and go to sites that only use plain English or plain language in general Terms and Conditions. If you cannot understand something, do not sign to it.
Language shouldn't really be a barrier for someone in understanding the terms and conditions when we can very easily use a translation service to translate that to our native language and then read them, it's not that difficult. Google Translate is the easiest way to do that, one should simply copy and paste every single clause from the terms and conditions and use Google Translate to translate it to our native language and then read them one by one.

Actually Google Translate is complete shit compared to Deepl. But that is not the point.

Language can become a huge barrier, especially because of how hard it is to translated nuances, colloquial metaphors and much more. I think that this can develop into quite a formidable problem, especially if it comes to things like terms and conditions. If you misunderstood because the translation was bad, does this mean that google translate now owes you your money back? Or the casino? Probably not, but you see where I am going with this.
765  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a 20% Annual Return good ? on: October 19, 2023, 08:47:29 PM
With my experience in the cryptocurrency market, I decided to develop a short-term Bitcoin spot trading strategy using the TradingView platform and its strategy programming tool. I managed to create a strategy that yields an average annual return of 20% according to backtesting. My question is, is this return acceptable, or in your opinion, what would be an acceptable or good return?

20% is more than acceptable, I would say. In my experience 30% is more realistic if you really know what you are doing and have a lot of years of experience in trading, technical analysis and fundamental analysis. And even then there are many traps for emotional traders to fall into. Even I, myself sometimes do something stupid and act on emotion without even realizing it until its too late.

Everybody is only human. Especially in trading. Roll Eyes Tongue
766  Economy / Economics / Re: Isreal and Palestine war and losing your wallet phrase and password on: October 19, 2023, 06:12:06 PM
Have you consider that you lose all your coins because the wallet phrase to your coins and PC burn in a war.
So what will you do if you survive after the war to start back your financial struggling and your crypto investment journey. Or can you get the coins back?

I mean, yeah. That is war. I would rather lose all my money and material things than my life. And I could always start anew. It's only money after all...

The good thing about Bitcoin is that even though there are investors, there is only a certain amount of Bitcoin that can never increase beyond that number. So Bitcoin will always be a asset which appreciates in value over time, as long as there is a demand for it. And I see no reason why there would not be a demand for Bitcoin. Unless the world was so torn asunder that the global internet network was no longer working/repairable.

But even then, I am sure there would be communities of survivors with their own local internet and Bitcoin.
767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: October 19, 2023, 05:29:32 PM
I'd like to share my experience with you all. Even though I'm not currently employed, I went through a phase of gambling while I was working in the past, and the outcome wasn't positive. It affected my job performance because, as you may know, when you lose, you tend to dwell on your losses and constantly think about strategies to win. When we talk about work, it usually means we're not particularly wealthy, and imagine what happens when we gamble money we can't afford to lose, especially when we're not earning much.

Let me tell you, the feeling is far from pleasant. It leads to a decline in your work performance, which can have significant consequences since that's your primary source of income. It might be manageable if you're winning, but the harsh reality is often quite the opposite. Even when we do win, we tend to spend most of our winnings, so we don't treat it as business money. This leaves us in a precarious situation when we lose because the money we initially budgeted for our families gets diverted to cover unexpected gambling-related expenses.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have experienced this or are still dealing with it. Please share your testimonies.

I would not ever think of something as irresponsible as gambling at work. Because its not allowed and it is very unprofessional to do in a place that is paying you to provide a certain service. To me that just seems false and dishonest. And even insulting to the person who hired you and pays you.

If someone gets to the point of needing to gamble everywhere, at work, on the toilet, etc. then that is a definite problem and a serious sign of gambling addiction. That person needs to stop gambling and keep away from addictive habits.

Otherwise things will not turn out fine for them.
768  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often is your luck in gambling? on: October 19, 2023, 02:43:59 PM
This Filipina did not even expect she won the grand prize on lottery instead she thought of winning just consolation prizes. Lucky for her she had that financial stability for 25 years as $6,670+ a month here in the Philippines is pretty huge.

https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/pinoyabroad/content/882861/pinay-wins-over-p387-000-a-month-for-25-years-in-emirates-draw/story/

I am not lucky in lottery or any gambling casinos but way back in 2017 the only luck I encountered was I gambled with the risk of joining bounty hunting on this forum and it is worth it.

How about you guys, are you having a good fortune on your gambling career? Do you ever think of quitting after you won a jackpot?

I very rarely feel lucky in gambling, to be honest.

But then again what exactly is the feeling of luck? The rush of dopamine and adrenaline when you win? Or some kind of psychic-like ability to tell the future but only in the sphere of gambling itself? I would say that most likely it is the first thing. Just a buzz you feel after something exciting happens which your brain deems as rewarding. But I think it best not to dwell on that feeling, because it is fake.

What is real is mathematical probability on which much, if not everything in our world is based on. And the probability of winning is always lower than house winning. That goes for all gambling games.
769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CZ's view on Halving on: October 19, 2023, 02:29:17 AM
Why do we need CZ's view on the halving? Sure, he has his exchange, but he is a trading software dev. Not a Bitcoin expert.

Nobody should be placing such large amounts of trust in the words of the rich and famous. The words of an expert in Bitcoin would weigh much more than that of an expert in developing trading software. Honestly, if you ask me, DeFI is a better alternative- if you absolutely need to daytrade. Slightly more expensive, sure. But no KYC. Grin

And all you have to do for that is ask someone on Bitcointalk.org.

Lotta tech and finance experts here who can explain the halving and its effects in much brighter detail.
770  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cash out or keep playing? on: October 19, 2023, 12:29:46 AM
I want to pose a question that I believe is quite expensive for many of us here, and it's a dilemma most of us can relate to. We all know that gambling is a game where we put our luck to the test. However, there's a crucial moment in every gambler's journey. the moment when you hit that big win. Do you cash out and savor your victory, or do you continue playing in hopes of even bigger winnings?

I've often wondered how many of us can truly stop playing when we are ahead. It's a challenge because the allure of winning more can be irresistible. I've witnessed situations where a friend deposited money into a casino, faced losses, and just when he was on the brink of frustration, he struck a significant win. Did he stop playing? No, he left his winnings in the casino, only to lose it all again.
So, I ask you all, what would you do when you finally make that big win? Would you cash out immediately to enjoy your winnings, or would you keep playing in the hopes of an even more substantial prize? Shocked

I gamble on a strict daily limit rule of x amount lost or y amount won. You can swap x and y for your own individual daily gambling limit. It can be 100 dollars or 1 dollar or less. So if I win a certain amount or above then I consider myself lucky and done for the day and thereby cash out. And those are good days, indeed.

Same goes for if I lose a certain amount of money. Its a bit sadder of a day, but at least I am not bankrupt or completely broke at the end of the day with no money to buy tomorrows lunch with...

I also do not gamble on emotions. Hope is an emotion.
771  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ETF Approval: Fueling Bullish Momentum? on: October 18, 2023, 10:42:06 PM
With the rumoured SEC's approval of a Bitcoin spot ETF, we've witnessed a bullish surge in its price, surpassing the 30k range before pulling back to consolidate for another potential run.

Considering this, is it safe to say that we're experiencing a historically bullish October? Additionally, which alts are you considering accumulating before the year's end? Let's dive into the world of alts together.☺️

Why in the name of all that is Bitcoin are you asking about altcoin investment advice in the Bitcoin section? You do realize that Bitcoin is not an altcoin but rather the original cryptocurrency, right? That is what the "alt" part of altcoin means. Alternative coin.

I would be wary of trusting anyone claiming that some altcoin is a good investment. You can check the top altcoins at coinmarketcap.com and compare their functionality,  development and so on...

Also, the rumored approval was proved fake. It was cointelegraph sending out fake news. They already apologized for it.
772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do you think about trading feature? on: October 18, 2023, 07:54:43 PM
Gambling sites like Bc.game and Rollbit now include trading feature in their casinos. In this game we need to predict small fluctuations in price over a short period of time.
This is became my favorite game. What do you think of this game?
Do you think this game gives us some advantage/edge to casino? Because most of the time, prices tend to Follow a repeating pattern like Up-Down Up-Down in a range.

The prices do follow repeating patterns, but not always.

And while you can get the power of probability closer on your side so that it develops into a kind of house edge, (but for you as house) I do not think that there is a 100% certain way to make price predictions even with all the skill and knowledge you can gather. Because there are always unknown variables. You never know what is going to happen next.

So its just semi-gambling on top of full-gambling.

I would welcome a trading feature only if there are no unfair trading fees. But then again this would mean that the casino would require great investment to implement this feature and it might not be worth it, (in terms of profits) in the end.
773  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do your parents know about your gambling habit ? on: October 18, 2023, 02:54:36 PM
Most of the grown up people do not live with parents. At such, the parents are not aware about the interests and habits of individuals. Do you parents know that you gamble ? What was their first reaction towards your gambling habit ?

No. I am an adult who does not require nor want the approval of my parents. I know what is good and what is bad for me. I also understand risks and responsibilities. That is what it means to be an adult, essentially. So I do not think that anyone above a certain age should still be a manchild/womanchild.

Furthermore, you make it sound like gambling is something to be ashamed of. There is a world of difference between problematic and non-problematic gambling. An indulgence is not a habit and a habit is not an addiction.
774  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gift to wife. on: October 17, 2023, 08:27:34 PM
I promised in a post on this forum a few months ago. I had a plan to give half of my bitcoin investment to my wife after marriage. I got married a few days ago. First I gave my wife all the ideas about Bitcoin. I was surprised to hear my wife, as soon as I told my wife about Bitcoin, she said that she had heard the name of Bitcoin before. I thought it would be very difficult to convince girls. But my wife was able to understand about Bitcoin very easily. I gave him half of the investment as per my word. He is very happy to get Bitcoin. My wife plans to hold bitcoin for a long time. Now you can say it is better to give girls gold jewelery than bitcoins. I have given gold ornaments to my wife as per her wish. Have any of you managed to teach your wife Bitcoin? Have any of you gifted bitcoin to a wife like me?

My poor man, how do you have a wife but not any notion of the mind of women?  Roll Eyes They don't want monetary value but rather emotional value in itself, which can be represented in many forms. But what we take for granted is that the main form is always physical. Even if just a promise, it will physically manifest on the day of the promise, anyway. Bitcoin is just money which you cannot touch or do anything with, physically. To women this might seem like a lazy gift that you did not put any mind into.

They would rather see that you worked hard for the gift (in a romantic way). And of course it would be better if the gift was something that nobody else has and of course, must be shiny and pretty.

Thats it, really.
775  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If we lose in gambling, what do we need to do? on: October 17, 2023, 07:28:33 PM
Gambling is a place to spend money, although many gamblers consider casinos to be a place to earn money. But in reality, more gamblers lose their money at casinos or gambling sites. So I think all of us here probably have almost the same experience, namely losing a lot of money gambling

I also lost money because I lost on gambling, but maybe not that much. But I know there are people who spend a lot of money for gambling. In your opinion, what should we do if we have lost a lot of money on gambling? Do we keep gambling to win so we can cover up previous losses? or stop and work normally and leave gambling? Or do you have other suggestions?

Do not do anything rash straight after losing money in gambling, because at that point in time you are very agitated and in a heightened mood. You do not want your gambling decisions to be made by your pure emotions. Some of those emotions feel like you might win your money back if you gamble very hard or go all in. Those feelings are lying to you.

I always make a plan on my daily spending limit before I go into a casino and I always stick by my own rules. Anything else is way too risky and will end up in you losing all your money before you even realize it.
776  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: October 17, 2023, 06:59:57 PM
As the gambling industry is evolving, I think innovations would have kicked in that can make someone create a career from gambling. I do not know how this can be achieved but I feel it is possible.

Making gambling a full time job might be seen as risky but I still feel one can make gambling full time job and a career.

What do you all think?

Of course you can make a successful career in gambling. But only as long as you are not the one gambling. Or at least not with your own money.

Honestly, you can probably make a successful career over anything for any reason. There are over 7 Billion people on earth, and they all want a specific thing or service. You have a customer base, so you just need to find them.

In gambling, I imagine you could become a casino employee or a promoter/Influencer or even game developer.

But you definitely will not gain riches by merely gambling your money away. That is a 100% for sure mathematical fact.
777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Magical Is The Magic Money ? - Bitcoin on: October 16, 2023, 07:24:21 PM
Don't want to sound like the grammar police out here but implying that what bitcoin does is magic hurts its reputation in a way. It makes people think as if everything that bitcoin is all for constitutes nothing but the collective delusion and imagination of those who support it, which can't be the case. The concept of being your own bank is a little bastardized too, since for the most part the only thing that makes bitcoin similar to a bank is the fact that it's a store of value, and even that is a massive stretch.

At its core bitcoin is nothing but a payment system done digitally, which we happened to find out is also capable of giving us profits down the line. The discovery is purely coincidental and had we not discovered this we wouldn't even think of bitcoin as a "bank for the people".

I would agree with you, albeit perhaps not quite as aggressively.

OP probably does not mean to throw dirt on the image of Bitcoin but rather he seeks to address the meme of Bitcoin being "magic internet money". We have all heard it and seen it. And we had a few laughs. But ultimately, there are people who misunderstood Bitcoin because of that meme. That hurts the overall adoption of Bitcoin and slows down value progress. (I say slow down because a rising value is inevitable.)

Bitcoin needs to be taken more seriously and much more professionally. It really helps Bitcoin's appeal towards investors and strengthens Bitcoin.
778  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Drake's Curse. on: October 16, 2023, 05:42:15 PM
Quote
Rapper Drake lost $850,000 on Logan Paul's fight with Dillon Danis - despite backing the right man to win. Paul took on Danis over six rounds last night alongside KSI's defeat by Tommy Fury in Manchester. Paul dominated the first five rounds before Danis was disqualified in the final session for attempting to choke out his rival. Paul was declared the winner - but not by knock out as Drake had predicted. The rapper, who is seen as something of a curse given his poor gambling record, had staked $850,000 (£700,000) on Paul to win by stoppage and would have collected $1.3million (£1m) had he been successful.
https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/drake-logan-paul-danis-bet-31194541

The Drake's Curse.

He lost on the right man. We have experienced losses but not as bad as this...this is just terrible.

What do the gambling folks have to say about this?

I think "Rapper Drake" probably has more than enough money if he is gambling with such amounts. Terrible? Not really. Entertaining? Kind of. Considering the kind of wealth we are looking at, here, I am not all too inclined to feel sad for Mr. Rich Rapper guy. He knows, just like anyone else that gambling brings with it certain risks. I doubt there exists an adult living in the modern world who does not understand the risks and negatives of gambling.

At the end of the day, he will go home with his horde of money sitting in the bank or in investments still almost just as enormous as the day before...

779  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs Ethereum VM to reach its full potential — Web3 exec on: October 16, 2023, 05:21:03 PM
I think that Bitcoin is fitting in its role of being a decentralized store of value quite nicely. There is no need to to turn Bitcoin into another Ethereum alternative. Not only would that destabilize the trust and value of Bitcoin, it would lead a large part of the community to give up, after many years, on Bitcoin. The only possible reason for updating Bitcoin is to improve existing aspects rather than to redraw the entire concept.

Bitcoin concept has not led us wrong after all these years, so why change things that are not broken?

I would not recommend anyone to send their money to any wallet specified by the newbie OP. There is a very high chance of this being a scam and it is very obvious. Not only obvious but very lazily set up, as if by a child. No escrow, no third party assurance of fair-play? Cmon OP, you have got to try harder than that lol.

No legitimate casino would offer something as shady as this. Send your coin to his wallet? What certainty is there that you will ever see that money again?

Everyone is free to do and act as they choose in their life, but I have given my warning and it is up to you to decide whether or not you wish to follow it or not.
