Slaman wants to play the bad cop, wants to pick all the underdogs and see how it goes. He planned to move against all of us.

In tourney formats like the UCL, I think managers are forced to be more pragmatic.  That's why Mou at his prime could win it with a more inferior squad while Guardiola had a hard time winning it with a superior squad because he was so idealistic in his approach.

Players fight to make Jose Mourinho happy because he made them feel loved,  while Pep is someone who just play technical football to get results  Cool

Good luck to his bad cop strat...  Lol.

And yeah...  Different man management approaches.  But I'd disagree that Guardiola wants to play his squads in some way for the results.  It's really the opposite.  Guardiola is idealistic in his approach and wants his squads to play in some style irregardless of the results.  It's Mourinho who doesn't really care how his squads play as long as he gets the results.

That is the kind of weigh ins and face off we deserve https://www.youtube.com/shorts/c25z82ApjOk and on first glance on the instagram, it does not look that Cherneka Johnson is MMA or boxing fighter, or anywhere around fighting Cheesy

With years, I feel somehow sorry for not taking a lot of attention to link to weigh-ins you post. So I decided to click few keys on my keyboard and search youtube for more of them. Found pretty funny compilation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK_u1R9JmxI + https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_j1H5p_-m8.

Lmao.  Those vids are funny...  Post more from time to time and lighten the mood up.  Sometimes I get too serious about all this stuff and forget it's all about for shts and gigs.  I still do enjoy it tho.  I still love my weekly UFC fix.  Wink

As for you not really watching all of the weigh ins, I think it's good to see how these guys look one last time if you haven't made your bets yet.  Sometimes there are very close match ups that you need to see how these guys look on the scale before dropping some money into them.  And it's a process for making better bets.  So...  All good.

Here are the face offs.

The international break is finally behind us, has felt like an eternity.

Which upcoming weekend game are you most looking forward to?

-ADante

Yup, waiting for league football sucks sometimes.  Lol.

As for my most anticipated matches, it's West Ham vs Man City and Man United vs Brighton.  I think Moyes shouldn't be faded here or at least consider the line.  He could outfox Pep imho.  He already has a couple of good wins vs Chelsea and Brighton.

Man United vs Brighton is an interesting one as United looks like it's in shambles and Brighton has been looking good.  But could they really win at Old Trafford?  My gut says no.  It could end up going 1 - 1...

And here's my Majestic 7 picks for the weekend.

Diaz
March
Diaby
Wilson
Solanke
Saka
Awoniyi

Thanks for the 10k guys.  Cheesy

^  Dunno, Layer Zero tweeted about it and made it look like it was some sort of partnership with Nomis.  So for just 8 bucks it wouldn't hurt to mint the NFT if you're eligible as proof of some sort.  Maybe it's going to be kinda like Arbitrum's Odyssey NFT a few months before the airdrop happened, who knows...  I minted mine just in case...

If you believe in such multipliers, then you should also get a badge from Nomis on the zkSync network, which, like L0, costs about $8. I have more confidence in the service https://dune.com/springzhang/layerzero-users-ranking-for-potential-airdrop. Try to check your wallet there and if it does not enter the TOP 500k, then a badge from Nomis is unlikely to help you.

With Layer Zero getting on board Nomis, I think it's not totally about the multiplier.  It's more about helping Layer Zero's devs figure out how to filter the botters out of the airdrop list.  And again for just 8 bucks, I'm minting my score just in case it's gonna be something like Arbitrum's Odyssey NFT.  I think the minters were given more points in the Arbitrum Foundation's list of eligible people.  Dunno...

But then again yeah, it could also be nothing.  But we'll see, we don't even know if an airdrop will really happen.  They could do a SUI for all we know.  :/

Speaking about Adesanya - during 1 year he has managed to lost, regain and lost again his champions title. He is 34, based on his instagram, he is enjoying life more than being a full-time working hard fighter. Recently Pereira told, that Izzy should take a rest, make a pause, think what he wants more. I know that social media isnt 100% reflection of humans life, but imho, Izzy starts to look more like Conor. It is party, fun and luxury over hard work in gym.

He certainly doesn't look his age. He looks like he's mid-to-late twenties and acts like a teenager. Everyone ages differently, and I think he might be one of those people who can stay in great shape even past the 40. But there's another factor, that we can call mental aging. The longer you fight the harder it is to stay "hungry" and get your motivation high. The adrenaline levels simply might not be what they used to be when he steps into the octagon.
Also, his fighting style to a large degree is based on speed, and that's something that deteriorates with age way faster than strength. There's always an option for him to bulk up and move to the light heavyweight, which is generally slower than the middleweight.

Anyhow, in a recent interview, Dana White was back-pedaling a bit on the idea of an immediate rematch, so things might get more interesting. I think they may be waiting on the Costa-Chimaev result before making any decisions.

It's all the anime he's been watching.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy  If the mind is young then body will also look young.

Here's a tape of Holland vs Chiesa.  I honestly have no idea why the books lined Holland as a slight underdog here.  I think it's value esp with how JDM looked at his last match.  I know JDM has been on a tear but I think Holland could sub this guy.  Holland via sub is at 7.20.  Could be worth a sprinkle.

Nope, Adesanya had no say on who he'll fight next.  That's not how it works in the UFC.  It's the UFC that proposes an opponent and it's up to the fighter if chooses to sign the contract or not.  DDP was the first guy who got the offer to fight Adesanya but DDP refused because as he said, he wouldn't have had enough time to prepare as he just fought Whittaker at the time.  So on they went to give Strickland the offer which he immediately accepted.

As a champion he probably had some say, i.e. if he refused to fight someone, UFC would find him someone else, maybe on a different date. UFC had quite a few fussy fighters, who were picky about who and when they wanted to fight (e.g. Jon Jones or GSP).
Obviously, since Volkanovski couldn't fight in Sydney this time, they needed some other Australian-enough star to headline the main event - Adesanya. And Strickland, who prides himself in accepting any fight, was the 2nd best opponent for Izzy, after DDP.
Strickland, on paper, was a very convenient rival for Izzy (proved by bookies' odds), so I'm sure he was very happy to sign the contract.

Oh for sure a title holder who has a lot of pull and some clout like McGregor could pull some strings and get what he wants.  Adesanya could be one of those guys and prolly Volk and Jon Jones.  Guys who could sell PPV's...  And yes, fighters have a choice if they want to sign up for the fight or not.  That's why we have the interim title in the UFC.  It's when the champ doesn't want to accept any fight but the UFC doesn't want to stop the division from progressing.

Here's another free fight from Shev.

I think Pochettino has a mindset which enables him to get past any criticism directed at himself and his team from the media. The issue is about what happens if it is from the fans or from the board because at that point he will be tested. He was loved by the Southampton and Tottenham fans but he did not receive adulation at PSG. Now he is at Chelsea which is a club that has very impatient fans but I expect they will appreciate what he brings to the club.

The previous Chelsea owner hired and fired managers at record speed but the new owner is looking for long term stability. He made a mistake when he chose Potter but appointing Pochettino is not a mistake.

Do you think one day we will see "Boehly Out" banners? Highly unlikely but you never know. The man has invested heavily to first buy the club and then invested in players without hesitation. Every team around the world would happily accept to be funded to the amount he has funded Chelsea.

Chelsea needs to do it now or the negative momentum for them is gonna be a btch.  The negativity is gonna creep in and spread to the whole squad and before you know it fans are flying 'Poch Out' banners at home fixtures.  Cheesy  Kidding about the Poch Out banners but we've seen what happened to Tuchel and Potter...  Two capable managers who could win the league imho.

So yeah, their next match should be a good get back on track spot even if it's an away fixture.

Yeah..  I guess we'll just have to see in the next couple of matches with the next one vs Bournemouth a very critical one.  I mean we've seen it a lot of times before, we expect a good club to finally turn things around but it's like catching a falling knife.  You thought you bought the dip but forgot about the dip to the dip to the dippity dip.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Anyway, what do you guys think of these bets...  LFC and Spurs parlay at 1.84.  Fulham and under 4.5 goals combo at 1.88.  Arsenal and under 4.5 goals combo at 1.85.  And here's a fun one, Man United double chance and BTTS combo at 1.94.  Grin

I'm pleased to announce our biggest-ever prize pot of $11,000 ($10,000 crypto + $1,000 in freebets) in sponsorship funds, courtesy of crypto casino and sportsbook Rollbit!

OP has now been updated with new guidance while we continue to work (I say we, but it's really just joker_josue haha) on refining the form submission for the odds-based event.

Summary of this season's new points:
- 70/30 prize split. 70% to Superbru classic pool, as that's the most popular, 30% to the odds-based event, which is experimental. Use this week to read the rules and test out the new system!
- 20 prize spots, not 10 -- but you can win in both events.
- stablecoin, but BTC payout, end of season. This preserves the dollar value, per request of sponsor.

We now have 33 confirmed participants (13 paid, marked below with asterisk. Paid but no asterisk? PM me!), and 2 tentative (marked in brackets). Can we see if we get the numbers to cross 50? Invite your degen friends!

814  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Big capital, small risk or small capital big risk - which is best approach? on: September 13, 2023, 12:31:41 PM
Different people with different approach to gambling. Some prefer committing huge capital to high probability small odds while others prefer using small capital to target big wins. There are many reasons for each of these approaches.

While those that put huge capital win more often, their losses are usually painful. On the other hand, those that commit small capital to make huge wins rare win but when they do, they win big; their losses too are less painful. There are other advantages and disadvantages for both approaches but for the sake of this discussion, let's know which approach you think is better and why?

It's not that.  Lol.  In sports betting, what you should be looking for is line value and +EV bets and always think about the long run.  It doesn't matter if you're betting on the favorite or the underdog as long as the bet is +EV, you'll win even if you're losing in the short term.  It's the same with poker, you don't put the money in if your odds of winning the hand is less than the pot odds and you do put the money in if vice versa.

Sometimes it's counter intuitive...  Sometimes you make the bet even if you think the bet will lose because the line value is too good.  Imagine if the bookies give you a line of 10.00 for Everton everytime they go against City.  That's a +EV bet and you should take it everytime even if you think Everton is gonna lose.

Anyway here's the schedule.  And honestly not too excited for this one.

2023 F1 Singapore GP Schedule
Track:  Marina Bay Street Circuit, Singapore

Sept 15, Friday:  Practice 1  17:30 - 18:30
Sept 15, Friday:  Practice 2  21:00 - 22:00
Sept 16, Saturday:  Practice 3  17:30 - 18:30
Sept 16, Saturday:  Qualifying  21:00 - 22:00
Sept 17, Sunday:  Race  20:00

If I were to make a bet I'd prolly go for Leclerc to finish in the podium at 3.95 if there isn't any penalties.  He's prolly going to be all fired up after finishing behind his team mate in Italy.  Cheesy

Izzy Vs Sean was like a duel between an artist and a craftsman. Artists would perform better but only when they are in 'the zone', craftsmen would never be spectacular, but will deliver a solid performance even on their bad day.
It just wasn't a good day for Izzy, he either missed something in his mental preparation, or that blow in the 1st round had much greater effect that we might realise. He looked like he was solely focussed on surviving.
Voices on the internet are mostly against an immediate rematch. Sure, Izzy deserves it simply because of all his past achievements, but that's not necessarily fair to all the other guys in the middleweight, who want their shot at the title as well. Sportwise, Du Plessis is more deserving to fight Strickland next.

I think there are no past achievements left that can influence on Dana White and let Izzy have a rematch. Izzy has used his past achievements to have an immediate rematch against Pereira. This time it was Izzy who decided to skip Du Plessis and choose Strickland, because he though it was a much easier fight. I dont think that his loss has something to do with preparation, mind games or etc. Strickland used most simple, yet efficient defence. He did not think of something complicated, combos or strategy. He has used so called shell defence (the one Mayweather uses) - shoulder protects chin from one side, fist from the other, and the second hand defends body. Btw, Strickland outstroke Izzy (probably top striker in UFC) by number of accented strikes almost by two times.

https://youtube.com/shorts/9AycNZ8L-Vw?si=epV4j2PcSXcBj6Wt - Strickland is hilarious, already broke his belt Cheesy

I think Izzy chose Stickland over Du Plessis not only because for easy fight but recently I notice that Stickland is becoming more and more popular, while I have almost never seen him on social media, for the past 4 months, I see him very often. Joe Rogan and Nelk Boys had podcast with him too.
It was a bad day for Izzy, I think he was somewhat mentally weak and unmotivated during the fight. It makes me also sad that he is getting bullied because he watches anime. It was November 12, 2022 when he lost against Pereira and was bullied for animes, then after one win (again against Pereira), he lost again.
By the way, Stickland used Izzy's mistake so well to attack him, hands down, this was a pure masterpiece moment.

I think if DDP accepted the offer, he would've won because if there was a good time to beat Adesanya, it was that night.  He was slower, kinda like he wasn't himself...  :/

Edit:  Almost forgot, it's DWCS in 11 hours or so...
