I reckon theres a good chance you could sell and buy back cheaper if you time it right and don't panic. As for me I happy to just hold through any dip, hate selling bitcoins.

I suspect they ('the parasites that be') are still too afraid and unsure of bitcoin to endorse it in any way and that they wish it will fail or just go away.
I said no.
Be interesting if they do pass the ETF though

wow, just because of that article? the chinese are crazy man, thanks for link the story (with unnamed sources 'familiar with the matter' 'speaking on condition of anonymity', blah-de-blah) can be used as cover for the manipulation .... not the cause. The gold market has been functioning like this but on bigger scale for ~2 decades. Not that big a drop can't even see it on my Heikin ashi 1 day chart

... ... The picture is correct in a couple of important ways though, Dash is money. And more than 100 Dash is a lot of money Shame about the rest of it though.

About 800 MN's seems to be running 0.12.1 now. I think it would be good to speed up the upgrading to 0.12.1 a little bit by increasing the random payout chance a bit for masternodes that are already have upgraded.
That graph includes also the older masternodes. Have a look at: https://www.dashninja.pl/and type "0.12.1" in the filter The pie chart at the bottom also shows that significant number of mns on version 12.1 look like they have different protocols

Awesome finally upgraded to 12.1
Many thanks for all the help I received here.
I had a few little things threw me off course: masternode.conf file had an error, I also had a typo in remote dash.conf, and externalip line was missing the port number (I think that might need to be fixed in the guide) and few other little things I was doing in wrong order which I see has now been fixed in the guide too. My cron log for the sentinel thing is blank, which I assume is what you want. Anyway, all good, thanks again

I'm wondering if my problems are in the masternode.conf file, or the local dash.conf perhaps. Anyone know where can i find info about how to configure masternode.conf (and dash.conf) on the local wallet ?
Thanks

Have you started masternode from your local wallet via "masternode start-alias someAliasHere"?
Hi, thanks for your reply UdjinM6, I haven't reached the point of trying to start the masternode yet which is step 9 I think, I'm still stuck on step 7. There is some problem with sentinel connecting to the daemon or something it seems like. Can I clarify has the port changed? It used to be 9999 and is now 9998 ? Do I need to reconfigure my firewall ? I bet the guide just should be slightly updated @moocowmoo did a LOT of work to put this all together, no wonder if some steps are not quite polished yet EDIT: same issue, same solution https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/version-12-1-release.12985/#post-113033 Appreciate the help guys, but I'm not there yet, will keep going tomorrow. From TaoOfSatoshi guide looks like i need port 9999 after the IP address in dash.conf which I've put back in. Now I'm trying to remote start the masternode using "masternode start-missing <passphrase>" in the local debug console but its not working says "Error: Please enter the wallet passphrase with walletpassphrase first. (code -13)"

I've reached this point. step 7) test sentinel has nothing to say
at this point, running
venv/bin/python bin/sentinel.py
should return nothing but silence. This is how you know it's working. Even though it seems to have synced correctly. It says, Invalid Masternode Status, cannot continue. Anyone know what I have to do to fix that? I'm still having this problem, some more info when I run the command, dash-cli masternode status it says my protocol version is wrong "status": "Not capable masternode: Invalid protocol version" why would that be? running the getinfo command tells me my protocol info as "version": 120100, "protocolversion": 70206,
If this is not the right place to get help can someone point me where I should look? I thought I'd be able to crack this but obviously something has gone wrong somewhere

Superb instructions. Thanks! My wallet didn't quite follow the script but things turned out fine (I think). The script said: step 6) launch the wallet, choose "YES" I want to rebuild the block index 12.1 uses a different indexing format so must walk the entire blockchain. step 7) take a break, grab a sandwich, enjoy some sun this can take anywhere from 3 to 4 hours depending on your machine once complete, enjoy your new upgrades! ---- The button actually says "OK" not "YES" (hair-splitting), and in my case the wallet crashed almost immediately after that with one of those unhelpful Windows messages "an error has occurred" (and we know what it was but we won't tell you). I restarted the wallet and it seemed to sync up fine on its own in only about half an hour! Balance and transactions look normal. Very nice! I have used the updated instructions and still get the same error in reading the mncache.dat file. I have deleted all the .dat files except the wallet.dat and I still get the error. "Failed to load masternode cache from mncache.dat" I had the same. You have to delete mncache.dat and mnpayments.dat in the DashCore folder then start the wallet again. Thats what I did, I have deleted ALL the .dat files (except wallet.dat) and I still get the same error again and again. "Failed to load masternode cache from mncache.dat" Check you are not deleting them from the old .dash folder by accident, instead of the new .dashcore folder ?

You have to start your MN from local.
Ah ok will try that thanks. I think its missing from the instruction. However I've jumped the gun trying other things and will have to wait for sync to finish again ..

Crytoscam video is quite amusing in how amateurish it is. But more to the point it didn't seem objective to me in the slightest. fluffy pony is a monero dev isn't he? Says it all. Icebreaker Maybe you can't comprehend this concept but I have listened to, I think, all those things you've raised. Thanks to you and others like you I know about the fast/instamine in rather a lot of detail, I know about the governance system and how it works. I accept it is not perfect. Maybe even a scam can get some budget allocated to it if it manages to pull the wool over the eyes of enough masternode owners. So what? It can be voted out again just as easily in light of new information. You accuse me of only listening to pro dash opinions without any clue who I am or what I listen to. I deny that baseless accusation. I have given plenty of my time to learning about cons aswell as pros of Dash. however I submit you and people like those in the scam video are intent on only focusing on negatives. Dash is all cons without any pros for those who preach Monero. Of course fluffy pony cannot give unbiased opinions from a competitor viewpoint. Just because he starts the video saying he can doesn't make it so!
