This has already been debunked as a lie. https://twitter.com/postmoi/status/648159249491718144 and the discussion follows here, https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3t7mba/lewis_sanders_iv_reporter_w_dw_news_deutsche/

It just shows you how reckless these journalist can be. There is no editorial proof reading and responsibility to report facts. You just post crap online and apologize on Twitter. ^What a joke^

Thanks for linking. The news was really odd, but believable. Unfortunately they haven't provided addresses making it very unlikely to be true, and here we have a confirmation Smiley
1822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Washington Post: "You can now pay with Bitcoin practically anywhere" on: November 21, 2015, 02:36:20 PM
I agree with the misleading title part. And there are many solutions like so on the market for quite a few time... Why weren't all of them news? Roll Eyes

TestNet coins are worthless, but useful. They are useful because they are worthless. If you will add value to them, they will be useless, therefore worthless.

This is basically it Smiley
1824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple CEO Tim Cook: “Your kids will not know what money is” on: November 18, 2015, 05:45:57 PM
Of course he says so, but probably not because he believes that cryptocurrencies will be the future. One's got to promote their services... Cheesy ATM cards and especially Apple Pay is what he's talking about, so no difference from current banking services.
1825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mobile bitcoin atm on: November 18, 2015, 05:27:58 PM
I'm impressed, never seen such an ATM Cheesy I guess you can step on the gas and escape if you're being robbed or something... Anyways, I don't think this would be an advantage. It would only probably be feasible if the fiat there was withdrawn very frequently by the operators.
1826  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fidelity Charitable joins the bandwagon on: November 18, 2015, 05:23:43 PM
I'm not even commenting on how this article was wrote... I almost gave up reading it in the first paragraph Roll Eyes

the virtual currency once used by money launderers and drug dealers trying to skirt authorities

That initially made bitcoin an appealing currency for criminals

The guy who wrote this would definitely prefer to write an article bashing Bitcoin Roll Eyes Despite this fact, this is good news Smiley It will definitely lead to more people donating more.
1827  Other / Politics & Society / Re: is ISIS really using Bitcoin? on: November 18, 2015, 05:20:19 PM
If someone says that these guys use Bitcoin, I believe in them... Just like it's a fantastic tool for regular people, it's also a fantastic tool for terrorist groups, unfortunately. But I'd definitely like to see those addresses and proof to who they belong.
1828  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Paris Attacks will Affect Digital currencies in Europe on: November 18, 2015, 05:16:45 PM
Why would they change their stance on Bitcoin after what happened? I see no correlation, even if Bitcoin is indeed used to fund terrorists... Adding VAT won't make a difference in their funding.
1829  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fiat funded world war 1 and 2 hundreds of millions died Ban Fiat !!!!!! on: November 18, 2015, 03:51:37 PM
Simply they don't want it to stop.. It is a profitable business (buying weapons to the gov then indirectly buy it to the rebels/terrorists...) dividing a country and make new weak ones which hates each others so they will buy more weaps with fiat ofc... etc

Gave just 1 example.. You can understand how complicated the war is.

And imo fiat isn't easily traceable at least USD since it is the preferable fiat for the terrorists.

Couldn't have said it better... All this money going through is good for some, and others just shut their eyes to what happens.
1830  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Suggestion: Button that check/uncheck "send this transaction anonymously" on: November 17, 2015, 08:38:20 PM
P2P cash isn't a synonym for anonymous cash. You can remain anonymous or avoid being traced/having your multiple identities connected if you use Bitcoin correctly. I think anonymity is a good feature and the pseudo anonymous nature of Bitcoin is the best of both worlds, in my opinion. Bitcoins has its usefulness in being able to trace funds to known addresses too... Smiley
1831  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocksize on: November 17, 2015, 07:25:00 PM
I still have pretty much the same opinion: the best way to please everyone is a dynamic blocksize. Not sure what it should depend on, but it's a more flexible solution that may come across almost every user out there.
1832  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Moving ALL OFFLINE from bitcoin-qt wallet.dat to Armory Offline HD, w/ multi-sig on: November 17, 2015, 01:00:16 PM
I'd also like to add that if you import a private key, you have to have a separate backup for it... It won't be present on your regular Armory backup. Hope you're aware of that. That's why I don't recommend importing anything... Cheesy
1833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anybody getting the 21 bitcoin computer? on: November 16, 2015, 09:36:44 PM
No way. Too expensive, even for a toy Cheesy

I heard there starting to ship.  Anybody getting one and what are you planning on using it for?

I still do not see the purpose of this 21 machine, at least for ordinary crypto users. Anyone who can shed some light, pls do.

I don't really see a purpose for anyone, unless one wants to have something, different, a novelty Smiley
1834  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining farm in Romania on: November 16, 2015, 07:00:28 PM
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any subtitles on the cooling system part... But I've seen they got inspired on those "cooling walls" from China Smiley
1835  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Moving ALL OFFLINE from bitcoin-qt wallet.dat to Armory Offline HD, w/ multi-sig on: November 16, 2015, 06:51:58 PM
The best and fastest way to migrate is to setup Armory offline and send your coins there. If you want to respect (1) you just have to create the raw transaction offline on Bitcoin Core and then broadcast them on an online computer.

When you "sweep", you are importing the private key + sending the funds elsewhere. When you "import", you are just importing the keys to your wallet software.

You are over complicating things with your approach, in my opinion. I like to keep my online -> offline/cold storage interactions as simple as possible (the simpler, the less mistakes you make).

As for CD's vs USB's, yes, CD's are safer. You can search around this sub-forum, this issues has been discussed quite a lot recently Smiley

Dependencies: Armory's offline packages already have them.
1836  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Are there any plans to release Core 0.10.4? on: November 16, 2015, 06:42:22 PM
Why? If a system runs 0.10, it can also run 0.11. I didn't even understand why was 0.10.3 released when we had 0.11 since July. Devs need to focus on updating the most recent version...
1837  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: About virus in electrum wallet.. on: November 16, 2015, 03:40:46 PM
There are obviously no viruses in Electrum... Just make sure you're downloading Electrum from the right place and that it is the correct executable. This has been happening too many times lately. Releases are signed so you can verify them.
1838  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BED, the Bitcoin Escort Database on: November 16, 2015, 03:34:05 PM
Announcing BED, the Bitcoin Escort Database

Precisely what bitcoin needs, yet another sleaze-ball developing another sleazy use for the system with associations to criminal activity.  I can just see the headlines now.  wtf?  With all the really good uses out there, why do you insist on chasing this garbage?

People probably insist on this because it's "the easy way" to promote Bitcoin... Sex or sexuality sells and it was predicted all along this would happen. Not trying to defend anything, but at least at first glance there's nothing illegal with this (this is probably jurisdiction dependent, of course)

There will probably be more and more sites like these in the near future especially with the news that this kind of thing has been having
1839  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Australian Bitcoin group launching IPO on ASX on: November 16, 2015, 03:30:49 PM
So basically investing in them = buying "cloud mining" shares? Didn't quite get what they're trying to achieve.
1840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin issues on: November 16, 2015, 09:31:59 AM
The only issue I've really had is lack of acceptance... Other than that I haven't had any hindrance or problem using Bitcoin Smiley I don't think volatility is an issue... It's pretty easy when you need to buy something, you just buy it Cheesy Or if you don't need it immediately you wait for a price move Wink
