1741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New iOS Camera App, Uproov, Signals End of Fake Videos and Photos on: December 24, 2015, 02:37:28 PM
This is amazing, something that was really lacking... An easy way to prove a picture is real, definitely useful for everything that is on the press release. I'll definitely be testing this soon Smiley
1742  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Samsung EVO micro SDHC/XC 48MB/s 32/64/128GB intl shipping free on: December 24, 2015, 01:46:59 PM
Got the card a few minutes ago Smiley A bit slow, but it ended up here. I'll be seeing if everything is OK with it later and I'll post feedback here Smiley I'll also contact master-P to release the escrowed funds.
1743  Economy / Collectibles / Re: What's the current price for the 1000 BTC Casacius coin? on: December 23, 2015, 10:53:29 PM
There isn't much action on the market for 1000 BTC tokens, for obvious reasons, and I only remember such a thing being on the forums for sale/price check two times. One of them happened here and there was another one of a user who knew someone who had a 1000 BTC bar (not finding it right now), so there isn't any set market price for such a rare item, I believe Smiley
1744  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] OPEN SPOTS Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: December 23, 2015, 10:36:53 PM
Any news on avatar campaign, i'm wondering how will it look like Smiley

All will be revealed soon™.

Any news on this? Haven't been on here lately, but seems that there are no new developments on this issue and last update was back on October... Cheesy
1745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you like Android or ios for mobile Bitcoin transactions? on: December 23, 2015, 09:46:35 PM
I love both platforms and both of them are amazing feats of engineering and design, I have systems from both sides and both of them already have great apps for Bitcoin usage. That being said, my main daily driver is an iOS device in which I use breadwallet and I think it is, by far, the easiest, most straight to the point mobile app for Bitcoin that exists in any platform. It is a secure, very well developed app that just works well, like iOS devices themselves.

As for security comparisons, both systems are secure and updated periodically. Saying Android is more insecure might not be true: you can also have a jailbroken iOS device.

Eventually the main reason for choosing one system or another comes down to your personal preference Smiley
1746  Economy / Digital goods / Re: FREE .xyz Domain Names! on: December 23, 2015, 07:10:27 PM
This has already been on the forums previously. Tried registering and I don't really remember what happened but ended up losing time and not having the domain Cheesy Is it worth it now?
1747  Other / Off-topic / Re: How would you guys react if you guys lost 10, 000 bitcoin? on: December 23, 2015, 07:01:22 PM
Very badly, to put it in a soft way...
1748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lingham, Perklin, Pouliot named to Bitcoin Foundation Board / Mission Statement on: December 22, 2015, 11:54:59 PM
Three new board seats? What, three new seats for people to enjoy football player-like salaries and paid expenses? Roll Eyes

Just to be clear, no board member recieves a salary.  There are also no expenses paid for board members.

The Executive Director role used to be paid and is now also volunteer, some minimal out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.

It is correct that the Bitcoin Foundation overspent in the past.  No one involved with those decisions is still with the foundation.

We can only do what we can moving forward.

I'd urge people to look at the actual mission statement and make comments.  The Bitcoin Foundation is here and exists, most productive thing is to see how we can most effectively have this organization serve Bitcoin.

I guess now we're talking. Please do surprise me Smiley And don't forget about those detailed finance/accounting reports...
1749  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Burningman App - from Steps to Bitcoins on: December 22, 2015, 11:51:56 PM
This seems like a cool idea Smiley How much has this app been paying in relation to steps?

6.  The board voted to continue the existence of the foundation.. Approved unanimously.

I guess all those perks of being from the Foundation paid off and for all of you to continue with this is because you're not really bankrupt...

Your mission statement is amazing. Now you guys just have to apply it without having any scandals throughout the way, or members ending up being scammers.

Excuse me for the harsh comments, but based on recent news and actions of the Foundation, you guys are just useless. You have to REALLY do a good job now and impress if you want to continue and have your reputation back up.
1751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why no any block get mined in last 43 minutes+ on: December 22, 2015, 06:16:17 PM
Blocks average on 10 minutes, and average is the key word here Smiley More info here
1752  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Get Dropbox 50GB Space for free on: December 22, 2015, 05:30:27 PM
I haven't tested these files, but if you're worried that they might be malicious you can simply search for the original apk files from Samsung rom's. Specialty sites have tutorials on how to do this. Also, as far as I remember, for this to work you have to edit a system file in order to identify your device as a Galaxy S for this to activate.
1753  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Say goodbye to decentralization on: December 22, 2015, 05:17:53 PM
Why would they "give bitcoin a fatal blow"?

That would be killing the company...

They aren't going to attack themselves, obviously, but the fact that 51% might be achievable for a company raises some questions and red flags. If a private company can do it, a government can probably do it too, with bigger ease. I think that is the biggest point of these hashrate issues.
1754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The World has become Fixated on Bitcoin on: December 22, 2015, 05:15:38 PM
No, lol, the world is far from fixated with Bitcoin... We wish it was, it would be a huge step forward if everyone realized that current baking systems can be replaced.
1755  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Say goodbye to decentralization on: December 22, 2015, 05:14:33 PM
We've had far worse distribution of the hashrate. It's not guaranteed that they can 51%, and when these chips go on sale everywhere they won't be able to dominate the hashrate... We'll see, only time will tell if we're in danger.
1756  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: money dissapeared on: December 21, 2015, 11:46:32 PM
it seems correct. seed is written as it should be. but.. nothing Sad
where else can I check my balance? besides page "adresses"?

I just saw that on bottom line of electrum`s window it`s written "disconnected from server"
is it possible that I can`t see balance because it needs connection to check it?
why is it not connecting then? I`m waiting for hour aready...

Yes, that seems to be the issue, if you can't connect, Electrum cannot parse the blockchain and see the funds on your addresses. Click on the connection menu and try to specify a server manually.
1757  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: money dissapeared on: December 21, 2015, 10:58:02 PM
If you restored with the correct seed, your money is there. Check that Electrum is laoding the corrent wallet file where your seed is.
1758  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need advice on best Bitcoin wallet to replace Coinbase on: December 21, 2015, 10:55:47 PM
You'd probably be better off adopting Bitpay or Electrum (there's a way to integrate it on a website)
1759  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will hit the 15,000,000 mark on.... on: December 21, 2015, 09:27:27 PM
Odd that there is a discrepancy on calculations, one of those sources is outdated/updating slow. If I was to guess, I'd bet on blockchain being slow Cheesy

Also, it's pretty rough to make those predictions. One can only point to a period of time when that can happen Smiley
1760  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Confusion: bitcoind versus bitcoin-qt on: December 21, 2015, 05:27:12 PM
Yes, both are the same thing and qt is a graphical interface. You only need one folder Smiley You're having two different wallets and two different copies of the blockchain in the way you seemed to have set it up.

Thank you for replying. Smiley

I see. So I should just run either one? If I have bitcoin-qt running, does that means I am also functioning as a node too?

But if I were to run bitcoin-qt, I cannot seem to parse commands to bitcoin-cli?  Huh

Yes, run only one, so to speak. The daemon has got to start always. When you run QT, it runs the daemon on the background.

Now you use whatever suits you best. For regular usage bitcoin-qt is the most used. You are working as a node as long as you have your Bitcoin ports forwarded.

To push commands, create a .conf as said
