1841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ads for bitcoin in cinemas? - Update 1 on: November 15, 2015, 10:30:02 PM
Ah, I remember your first post. Looks like you do have some solid ideas about this project and you're really hyped to get it going Smiley really good to see that.

I think you're going the right way, and it's very nice to see you have a partnership for the videos. I think that "contract" will be essential to the project... It would be a waste if stores simply decided to drop Bitcoin a month after. if they stay with Bitcoin for a few months, they'll realize the advantages of accepting it. The flyers are also a nice idea.

As for crowdfunding platforms, if you want to go with Bitcoin all the way (which I think you probably should), you can use Lighthouse Smiley

Best of luck and keep us updated.
1842  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Which is the best Bitcoin wallet to hold my Bitcoins for long term on: November 15, 2015, 09:45:46 PM
If you want to store Bitcoins long term, the right wallet to do so is the one you like the most and the one that best suits your usage and experience. There are a lot to choose from... Bitcoin Core, Electrum and Armory are some of the best examples, in my opinion. Paper wallets are also an option. Now it's just up to you... Don't forget to have a secure offline environment, regardless of what wallet you choose. That's the biggest part of storing Bitcoins long term, not the wallet software itself Smiley

You can use https://blockchain.info , they are the safest option from my point of view. They have the best security and a 98% uptime.

OP asked for a way to hold his Bitcoins...
1843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why in some countries Bitcoin is banned on: November 15, 2015, 02:32:23 PM
Don't really get it what exactly are you trying to question, but Bitcoin use is frowned upon on several countries do to it's volatile nature and because it represents a threat to governments... Also, wrong section, this should probably be on Discussion Smiley
1844  Economy / Gambling / Re: ApopheniaBTC - Bet and solve the challenges to win BTC. on: November 15, 2015, 01:09:55 PM
Well, this last one was easy Smiley Did your hot wallet got empty?
1845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the fashion industry. on: November 14, 2015, 11:09:00 PM
I think this is a pretty nice idea. As far as I know, Bitcoin and fashion is a terrain that hasn't been really explored so far and it would be interesting to see clothing companies with products related to Bitcoin and/or accepting Bitcoin. I think you'd have clients around here at least Smiley
1846  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another scaling poll on: November 14, 2015, 08:07:43 PM
I think pressure will be bigger on the subjecting starting early next year... So I voted 6 months. But let's see what happens, this is just a guess.
1847  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Thanksgiving on: November 12, 2015, 08:55:50 PM
One would need a trustworthy escrow for this to go ahead and someone trustworthy to spend the coins... A local escrow would be the best of both worlds. Otherwise I don't think this great idea will go ahead.
1848  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Pay with Bitcoin -> NFC anywhere! How can we accelerate adoption of Bitcoin? on: November 12, 2015, 08:52:22 PM
This seems like a good idea, but it's very, very similar to the current bitcoin debit cards that have been very popular lately. Eventually fees weigh in a bit... And what we want is merchants accepting Bitcoin NFC payments Cheesy I hope this is a good and affordable service, nevertheless, it will certainly be very handy Smiley
1849  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Seems another one bites the dust - http://bitcoinbourse.eu/ on: November 12, 2015, 12:31:49 PM
Never heard about them... How much were they actively used?

Sad to hear that there weren't any more backups. Backups are never enough.
1850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People & Bitcoin on: November 12, 2015, 12:28:39 PM
Some people around me know one thing or another about Bitcoin, because I've talked about it to them, otherwise they wouldn't know anything. Nobody that I know of owns, actively trades or has any kind of connection to Bitcoin, unfortunately...
1851  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Illegal bitcoin exchange Coin.mx busted in NYC on: November 11, 2015, 05:34:22 PM
The question now is.. Did they have a BitLicense? Cheesy

Of course not because they are not based in NY.

Florida does require a Money Transmitter license for any Bitcoin exchange. A such license is very expensive(over 500K) and I don't think it's worth it based on the BTC tradings that a company can get these days.

Don't be fooled by the bots you see in actions on any exchanger platform.I am talking about real transactions. It's hard to maintain a licensed company. You need staff (employees) and the salaries are not low in USA.

Example: you need a compliance officer.

A salary for a such position is around of 3000-4000 usd/month without taxes which are not small at all.

You need a collaboration with lawyer. This should be around of 1000-3000 per month(depends on lawyer). you need yearly audit. the cost is around of 10,000 USD or more(depends on how many transactions you have), advertising, common bills (electricity, phones, internet, rent), taxes.

For a small company, a such license is useless. The costs per month can easily reach at 20,000 usd or more. So, first you need to make 20,000 usd and then to think about a net profit for "yourself"(owner).
Very hard to make these money.

Do not look at Coinbase and others like them. They were/are financed by shareholders with millions of USD; otherwise they would be bankrupted.

My post was ironic, but I was actually thought they were based in NYC and were operating illegally Smiley Even if you're not based in NYC, to operate there you have to have a BitLicense... Am I wrong?

And thanks for the insight on the money one has to spend to maintain this... Didn't know it was this much. I guess that's where there is only a handful of nice exchanges and only a few having a BitLicense.

The question now is.. Did they have a BitLicense? Cheesy

Gemini also bypassed the BitLicense process with Gemini Trust Company, LLC regulated as a fiduciary.  Grin .... I can bet you a dollar, Coin.mx did neither. You cannot get away with this kind of thing, there are just to many other competitors out there paying these license fees, who will expose you. They will squash you like a bug.   Roll Eyes

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/gemini-bitcoin-exchange-launches-needs-no-bitlicense-fincen/

I guess there's ways to make everything happen... Roll Eyes And the market is fierce, nobody wants trading fees to be "distributed" across exchanges. Everyone wants the big share of the cake Cheesy
1852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Initiated BTC discussion last night at dinner - of 5 ppl only 1 said "nah" on: November 11, 2015, 05:22:23 PM
Can each of you do us all a favor? This weekend, talk to at least 1 person about bitcoin. See if they're aware of it, accepting of the idea, or even using it.

I've been doing this in the last few months with people that actually listen to me (and to some other people). I'm surprised you got those results after a talk during dinner. I haven't had a single person slightly embracing Bitcoin right out of the gate. However, I've managed to make people see Bitcoin differently and in the last week I've finally managed to get someone interested in owning some Bitcoin for the first time (the price spike helped, I guess)

Slowly shifting minds is what going to take us to the top, I think.

The guy who was skeptical asked "what gives it value?" To which I just replied supply and demand. I didn't want to get into some debate about what gives fiat currency value (although maybe he should be educated on how money is created from nothing in fiat systems).

The "nothing" from which money is created really cuts out the nonsense from the debate.

It's all nothing. All imaginary, even gold. Even gold. And that's not a problem; if anything, it's entirely necessary to the concept of money.

The whole point is that: if enough people pretend that something is money, it works. That automatically makes the thing more valuable than that thing is without "money" status.

It's all psychological, all in the mind. And it also just so happens to work. It just depends on how well people choose the thing to elevate to money status.

Best post I've seen in a while.
1853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Friend: I like gold because you can run with your money if you have to on: November 11, 2015, 05:11:02 PM
I'm imagining that OP's friend running with a backpack and his arms full of gold bars! Easier to run with a sheet of paper... or a USB stick/SD card. Easier with a hard drive, even! Or a Trezor Smiley

My node with 4GB RAM struggles and crashed during the stress test so your node with 1GB is definitely struggling and swapping a lot... Smiley

1857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If BTC makes it 10 years I think it would officially have "made it".. on: November 10, 2015, 04:25:49 PM
Bitcoin will "make it" when it starts being a viable option in all stores and when most people start using it daily. We will make it when people start looking at Bitcoin as money Smiley
1858  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS 2/2] Samsung EVO micro SDXC 48MB/s 64GB intl shipping free on: November 10, 2015, 04:19:07 PM
Everything seems to be in order. I'd like you to ship the card if you agree with the following terms: Escrow is to be released only when I verify that the card has arrived in good condition and when I open it and test it. After testing it with a popular tool (H2testw, fsck, or any other known tool) I'll post the results here on this thread, and if everything is working correctly the escrowed funds may be released.

If you agree, I'll send you a PM with a shipping address Smiley
lol, granted.

Address sent Smiley I'll be waiting for the shipment. Thanks!

Also, if you can, please give me an estimate on shipping time.
you are more recommended to buy one more, so i can have more ability to afford it and provide tracking.

I only want one, thank you. I don't require tracking, just the estimation from your shipping company.
