1641  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Chat GTP destroy poker on-line gambling??? on: April 23, 2023, 06:45:26 AM
I believe that there is just a big hype behind AI and a whole series of ad hoc messages released by various media campaigns are trying to sell this technology as something "incomparable".
I don't believe at all that we are so close to systems that are so strong that they beat human nature in itself.
I don't think that AI is just an empty hype or a fad that will soon pass and instead this is just a beginning. As a matter of fact, I don't think that people understand all the dangers but then again AI development was inevitable anyway.

I don't believe at all that we are so close to systems that are so strong that they beat human nature in itself.
We have computers that are beating people in chess since 1997 and Kasparov-Deep Blue match so I don't think that we are that far from that moment.

So, I think it's impossible for AI to beat poker online in my own assessment only.
Yeah, computers are so bad at poker that varios poker programs that suggest you opotimal play are forbidden to use.
1642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does Bitcoiner still support the use of centralized exchanges? on: April 22, 2023, 10:23:54 AM
In decentralized exchange, you don't need to verify anything and you can link your bank account or other payment, then you can start to trade!
I wish it was that easy. Have you tried buying bitcoin via Bisq, which is generally considered to be the best decentralized exchange?

First, you have to already have some bitcoin in order buy/sell, which means its not convenient for first time buyers. 2nd, volume is so low that you will wait for a couple of days for your order to go through and if you want to deal with bigger amounts you will lose a lot.

1643  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: April 22, 2023, 10:15:01 AM

Once the situation normalizes, without any negative news being posted on the internet about Binance/CZ, I will reconsider trading on Binance.
There will always be certain amount of risk when it comes to using centralized exchanges and I don't see what has to happen in order to completrely remove that risk or even if its possible. Despite all the current problems, I still use Binance but only with the amount I am ready to lose in case things go south.
1644  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: April 20, 2023, 08:39:05 PM
More problems for Binance, but this time in Brazil. Alegedly they instructed their users how to access futures trading even though Brazilian SEC ordered to stop those back in 2020. This kinda reminds of the case when they published VPN guide right after they disabled use of their exchange for US users (guide has been removed later from their website). Cheesy

Binance is under investigation in Brazil by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office and Federal Police, according to a report in Valor Econômico newspaper. The cryptocurrency exchange has allegedly been helping clients evade a stop order on cryptocurrency derivatives investments.

According to the newspaper, the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reported to the Attorney General of the State of Săo Paulo that Binance may have continued to offer cryptocurrency derivatives to its clients after the SEC had issued a stop order on those offerings in 2020. Futures contracts are considered securities under Brazilian law regardless of the nature of the underlying assets.

The SEC presented the police with screenshots made in August 2021 showing instructions for Brazilian users to change their language setting to access the Binance Futures section. The SEC also said there was extensive Portuguese-language content with no notices of restrictions on Brazilian users.

1646  Other / Meta / Re: why bitcointalk don't advertise anywhere. on: April 20, 2023, 07:55:13 AM
Originally when I saw this post I was going to reply that BitcoinTalk does not need advertising and that it is already large and established enough to naturally garner attention with its brand and existing community...however, I actually think that a large-scale advertising campaign could propel the BitcoinTalk community into something none of us have ever been able to experience in an online forum, in terms of activity.
Large scale advertising campaign for a discussion forum would be an utter waste of money and honestly I never even saw a forum doing something like that.

I've been active on various forums for ~20 years and what's obvious is that they are pass their prime simply because there is way more competition now than it was in the past and younger generations usually prefer faster means of communication like Twitter/reddit/ Telegram/Discord etc. What bitcointalk could do though to attract younger audience is to at least optimize it for a mobile phone use but unfortunately we can't even get that.
1647  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Central African Republic drops Bitcoin as Legal Tender on: April 19, 2023, 03:58:51 PM

What do you think about the CAR dropping Bitcoin as a legal tender?
When they first announced that they will make Bitcoin legal tender some of us were aware that of the fact that CAR is simply not ready for something like this, so them giving up on the idea is not a surprise at all. Central African Repoublic has deep issues that can't be simply solved with Bitcoin so I am actually glad that they will focus their energy on something more reasonable than trying this idea work in a country where majroify of people don't even have access to electricity.

Central African Republic should really review the people who use Bitcoin and how useful Bitcoin is for the people there, before adopting and payment methods.
They never really cared about that as all they did was riding the Bitcoin hype train during last bull market.
1648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could this be the reason why Satoshi never made himself known to the public? on: April 19, 2023, 11:40:05 AM
Do we really need these kind of topics where people will dicuss what chatbot said about various topics?

Why don't you instead share yours own opinion about it rather than asking some chatbot what he has to say, like he can say anything other than what's been said many times before.
1649  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitrue exchange hacked for $23 million on: April 19, 2023, 08:19:35 AM
I never understand why people use exchanges with such a worst rating. Bitrue wasn't even a Top 20 exchange according to CoinMarketCap: https://coinmarketcap.com/rankings/exchanges/
It's at #22 as of this post and I am sure this hack will take it to below #30 in a day or so.
People are often using them because certain shitcoins they want to trade are only listed on those type of exchanges so they really have no option. And imho, Coingecko rating is more realistic than CMC where Bitrue is currently at 42nd place.

As many users already mentioned, it's always an insider job and it's literally impossible for any outsider or external party to make this huge impact on an organization.
I woulnd't say that its always the case of an inside job. Its just that attackers can be pretty innovative when it comes to the way they exploit the vulnerabilities.

Prefer using Top exchanges with billions of fund and that way, you aren't the only one losing your money Smiley
I don't think those who lost money in FTX found much comfort by knowing that many others lost money too. Well, at least I woulnd't. As long as people use exchange for their intended purpose and not to store coins, chances of them getting seriously rekt and losing big chunk of portfolio are not too big.

1651  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Kripto debitne kartice on: April 19, 2023, 07:31:38 AM

1652  Other / Meta / Re: Request for the moderator position in Greek board on: April 19, 2023, 07:00:05 AM
Did he announced something before not being active for that long?
Your question doesn't make any sense at all because if he publicly announced something than we wouldn't guess here and speculate what actually happened.

1653  Local / Off-topic (Hrvatski) / Re: Kutak za kulturni trenutak (filmovi, serije, knjige etc) on: April 18, 2023, 08:26:49 PM

#1. Prvi dio, First Blood 1982, on mi je najbolje sjeo.
#3. Drugi dio, First Blood Part II 1985, diše istom atmosferom kao i prva dva, super gluma i dosta akcije.

Bump.

Our moderator is offline 132 days now.
Does mitzie even has moderator status anymore? I am asking because when I check his profile he doesn't has "Staff" under his position, like its the case with other mods.
1655  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Price/Volume Excluded - Outlier Detected what does it mean. what does it mean? on: April 18, 2023, 09:10:52 AM
I guess you saw it at Coinmarketcap, right? Anyway, that means price on certain exchange is much higher/lower than on the other exchanges so it has been ecluded when calculating average  and volume has been excluded too and that usually happens on dodgy exchanges.
1656  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bittrex to shut its U.S operations on: April 17, 2023, 02:18:59 PM

I'm not very familiar with the laws and regulations in the U.S but how can this make sense if they already announced shutting down their operations?
I think the problem is that between 2014 and up until 2022 they made shit load of money providing services that they haven't been registered for, so the fact that they plan to close it now won't help much.  Its confirmed that SEC charged them and their former CEO for "operating an unregistered exchange, broker, and clearing agency".

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged crypto asset trading platform Bittrex, Inc. and its co-founder and former CEO William Shihara for operating an unregistered national securities exchange, broker, and clearing agency. The SEC also charged Bittrex, Inc.’s foreign affiliate, Bittrex Global GmbH, for failing to register as a national securities exchange in connection with its operation of a single shared order book along with Bittrex.

From 2017 through 2022, Bittrex earned at least $1.3 billion in revenues from, among other things, transaction fees from investors, including U.S. investors, while servicing them as a broker, exchange, and clearing agency without registering any of these activities with the Commission.
1657  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitcointalk account selling (Nikobitcoins) on: April 17, 2023, 02:03:37 PM
Lol, who are these guys who want to sell Hero accounts for only $80, If he would active enough he can manage to earn more than it in 1 week through the signature campaign.
Rule of thumb: when offer is too good to be true, its a scam. No one in their right mind would sell Hero acc for $80 and seller is obviously scammer, praying on ignorant ones thinking that its a good deal. Then again, I woulnd't be surprised if someone actually falls for this feeble scam attempt.
1658  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Always hide your forum email address after registration. on: April 17, 2023, 01:36:06 PM
And now you just exposed your Email. Grin
Read his post again, he just used "bitcointalk@gmail.com" for the guide purposes, that of course is not the email he used for account creation (its probably taken long time ago anyway).

@OP since you are giving advice, let me give you one: when resizing image you don't have to use both width and height as using one is enough and the other will automatically adjust. That way image won't be slightly distorted like in your case.
1659  Economy / Exchanges / Re: XGO on: April 17, 2023, 10:13:47 AM
How does this accusation apply to me?
You are probably the part of the same group set to promote this unknown XGO exchange.

I purposely come to this forum to ask for your opinion.
Looks more like you purposly came to promote XGO using pretty much standard marketing "technique" by asking opinion about the business you are promtoing and then using alt accounts to shill it.

But let's say for the sake of the argument that you don't have anything to do with those newbies shilling it, why woukd you use an exchange that isn't even listed on Coingecko/CMC and how did you even find out about them? Btw, being there is not a sign of legitimacy but not being listed there at all is a major red flag.
1660  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Uputstvo za korištenje Chipmixer-a on: April 16, 2023, 11:33:37 AM

U ovakvim situacijama volim podjeliti misao Alana Moorea (Watchmen, V for Vendetta etc): "the main thing that I learned about conspiracy theories is that conspiracy theorists actually believe in the conspiracy because that is more comforting. The truth of the world is that it is chaotic. The truth is, that it is not the Jewish banking conspiracy, or the grey aliens, or the twelve-foot reptiloids from another dimension that are in control, the truth is far more frightening; no-one is in control, the world is rudderless."
