1681  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 12, 2023, 07:31:31 AM

From this moment I am the only one slacking!
Actually from this moment as I just updated three merit charts with the new data.  Wink

Regarding updated merit/post ratio chart, March difference was max 0.03 so I didn't bother updating 12 months data as well since difference woulnd't even be noticeable.

It is great to see that the local boards of the Philippines are active in terms of merit ratio. That only means my efforts was effective though I am short in sMerits now hahahaha, but I am just glad that it was shown on the statistics board. That was really our plan to generate our own merit cycle so we didn't have to worry seeing our stats at the bottom of the ladder besides that, it is also to help our fellow citizens move up their ranks and help them improve their post quality to be given merit.
Your merit/post ratio indeed improved, but imho you still have long way to go as even 0.12 is pretty low. Afaik Pakistan local thread doesn't even have their own merit source and they are doing pretty good merit wise so maybe you might check them out and see how they are doing it.
1682  Other / Meta / Re: Messages for deleted posts - from 4 years ago? on: April 12, 2023, 06:06:55 AM
if the forum will not want to handle reported post which already 6 months old, why we can still submit a report or what is a valid reason we can report an old post?
From what I understand, its not that moderators won't handle all reports for posts made more than 6 months ago, but only in cases mentioned in that message so for example if you want to report old post that has malware link, they will act on that so blocking it for all posts made more than six months ago woulnd't make sense.

I have to say that this new update definitely makes sense as I see no much purpose in reporting years old posts for trivial reasons like thread bumping or consecutive posting other than stat padding. This way moderators will have more time to handle reports of the recent posts that actually affect us on the daily basis.
1683  Economy / Services / Re: Hiring Voice Over Artist For YouTube Videos on: April 11, 2023, 04:41:02 PM
Are you on earth and are you a human being? If yes, then how you can offer up to 30$ to a voice artist while a full member rank can earn more than you and while need to spend only a little time which may take to discuss your project? You are doing nothing but underestimating voice artists.
I don't think that it makes much sense to compare his offer with how much someone can earn via signature campaign since not everyone is interested in spending several hours per day on the forum. After all, there are campaigns that pay Full Member $40 for 25 posts and I don't know about you, but for me it takes quite a lot of time to write that amount of posts. I also don't remember anyone bashing lightlord for paying peanuts in his signature campaigns. Its anyone's right to offer as much as they want, and its people's right to refuse that offer if they think that its not worth their time.

By the way, you would be surprised to see how cheap voice actors can actually be. Just check Fiverr and see for yourself, there are guys that are doing it for $5 per video.
1684  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 11, 2023, 02:44:38 PM
Why comparison of the Bengali Local thread isn't here? If I'm correct, last month, we had a lot of active users on the forum, and due to an increase in the post quality, we have seen a significant increase in merit counts too I think (haven't checked last month's data though). Why does merit sender and receivers stat not have Bengali local thread? Or it's based on board, no local thread is included?
Because Merit Dashboard has merit senders/receivers data only for local boards, meaning both Bangladesh and Pakistan are missing from this chart. I have to check with @DdmrDmr if he can maybe provide that data as well and if he can, of course I will include the both.
1685  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 11, 2023, 02:31:41 PM
As usual, I have also updated the local boards race!
Cheers, I updated the overview with your animated chart.

Turkish is missing here. It should be normally in second or third place in this chart.
Sorted now, thanks for letting me know.

Is it possible to remove one thread from statistics? I wonder how stats would change without a merit cafe thread.
It would be possible, but why exactly would you want that? I am asking because from what I noticed, you are not the only board with similar topic, where people share their good posts to local merit sources. Imho, even those posts should count towards your total number, there's nothing weong with that.

a few tabs, specifically those referring to “monthly” time intervals (local “board post count evolution” for example, still miss March update. This leads me to think something is still missing. [/li][/list]
Seems like there is some merit info that includes the whole of March 31st, but I guess DdmrDdmr just didn't have time to update charts and tables with that data.

1686  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 11, 2023, 12:20:46 PM
The main because I am waiting for the latest update from @ddmrddmr as a few hour worth of updates are still missing from the dashboard to complete the month! (Last update from the merit dashboard is on the morning of the 31st of March.
Oh damn you are right. I just assumed that he updated Merit Dashboard last Friday (April 7th) as I don't remember him ever missing one in the last few years since I started writing these overviews. Anyway, thanks for letting me know but that means I will have to adjust almost all the charts once he updates the dashboard.  Cry

So, welcome @ddmrddmr to the slaking club!
Indeed! I guess slacking is contagious.  Cheesy
1687  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 11, 2023, 10:06:07 AM
What do you think it took after 2-3 months with a drop in activity, the last month to have increased so much?
Who knows? If anything, I kinda expected numbers to drop but I am glad that I am proved to be wrong.

I had a good laugh about it. Is it a typo, or maybe you did it intentionally?
Typo of course, it has been sorted now. Thnx for pointing that out.

i am hoping that this month things will change, or maybe one of our local veteran would try to apply as merit source, coz as i have seen earlier about @crwth his application was few years ago, i have even seen someone talking it here on this thread specifically and some other issues with our past merit source which was @cabalism.
Yeah I think that you someone else from your board should also consider appling for a merit source status since @crwth application hasn't been approved for several years now.

1688  Economy / Services / Re: Is it against the forum rules? on: April 11, 2023, 09:34:01 AM
Nope, it's not against forum rules to offer such services as you just did.

You will learn that bitcointalk generally offers more freedom than any other forum around.
1689  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: April 11, 2023, 07:11:43 AM
I do not know why there are people taking a side with the regulators.
Just because regulators are turning a blind eye on many things banks are doing wrong, doesn't mean that we should do the same with Binance or any of the other top exchanges or that we are taking regulators side.

I am Binance user from the late 2017 and since I created an account there I haven't had any issues whatsoever (nor did anyone I know) but I still think that they are doing many things wrong: from anti-Bitcoin stance and creating highly centralized BSC to being incorporated in a shady location that doesn't protects its users and saying that for an average user storing their crypto at exchange is the way to go.

Remember how in Japan FTX had to secure the funds so in case something happens to them people will get their money back? Imagine if Cayman Islands forced FTX to do the same thing. But of course, they registered their company there necause something like that will never be asked from them at those type of locations so they can do whatever they want there.
1690  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 11, 2023, 06:44:51 AM
Rejoice, its time for yet another brief monthly overview of the local boards activity.  Grin  As always charts and table are made using data from @DdmrDdmr Merit Dashboard and @TryNinja Ninjastic.space. Thanks guys for your awesome tools!

Communities marked with * (Pakistan, Bangladesh) don't have their own local boards. Not yet at least.

Post activity per local board during March 2023

During above mentioned period 16452 posts were written across 18 local boards, which is a ~20% increased compared to February 2023 and 13576 posts. I must say that I didn't expect this increase considering the overall situation and trend, but it was a certainly a good surprise and hopefully we can continue like that in the coming months.

As always, Russian board was far ahead of others, followed by Turkish and German boards. Generally, majority of boards had increased activity while among the more active boards only Nigerian had significant decrease (several less active boards had decrease too but those boards usually have big amplitudes).

    Local Board post race

Courtesy of bitmover, animated chart of the local board post race

Active member per local board during March 2023

Since amount of posts went up by 20%, no surprise that the same thing happened with amount of active members. During March 1369 members wrote at least 1 post which is a solid ~10% increase compared to February numbers (1232). Russian board is once again far ahead, and German & Turkish behind them. After strong growth in the last few months, Nigerian didn't break the 100 active members barrier and even had a slight decrease which is not surprising considering that their amount of posts went down as well.

When it comes to amount of members (percentage wise, relative to the total amount of members) who wrote only 1 post during March, this time Bangladesh and Turkish local boards were ahead of the others with 70%, followed by Greek (62%) and Indian (60%) local boards. On the other hand, Pilipinas and Nigerian boards had the least mount of such members (22%) followed by Bangladesh and Turkish with 25%.

In the 2-9 posts group, Bangladesh was ahead of the others with 48% and  German % Nigerian close behind at the 2nd with 47% each. On the other side are Roamian (10%), Polish (20%) and French (22%).

In the 10+ posts group, Pakistan board is ahead with 44% of such members, followed by Croatian (41%) and French (38%) local boards. Least amount of those members have Indian (7%), Greek (13%) and Romanian (20%) local boards

Merit shared per local board during March 2023

Since amount of posts increased by ~20%, I naturally expected for same thing to happen with merits shared and I wasn't disappointed; during March 8479 merits was shared acorss 19 local boards which is a huge ~60% increase compared to February and 5214 merits shared.

As always, majority of such a big increase we can thank to historically most merited boards: Russian (859-1739), German (444-1143) and Turkish (615-1149), but this time Indonesian board joined too with ~160% increase (376-966) and the biggest amount of merits shared in the last three years (since I make these overviews).

Merit senders and receivers per local board during March 2023

Several local boards stick out on this chart (Nigerian, Pilipinas) meaning they have a lrage amount of merit senders/receivers compared to the total amount of merits shared that might suggest they could use more merit sources. Since no one expressed their opinion on how this chart should be sorted I will keep it as it is, meaning it will be sorted by the amount of merits shared.

Merit/Post ratio per local board for March 2023

Last but not the least in this series of chart, merit/post ratio. Since amount of posts increased by 20% and merits by 60%, its no surprise that blue colour dominates the chart, with only Italian, Spanish and Nigerian boards having lower March than 12 month ratio. Romanian and Arabic and at their usual 1st and 2nd place this and buig surprise this month is Indonesian with 1.19 merits per postthat is a huge increase compared to their usual numbers, as seen on the chart.

The most active members per local board during March 2023

And for the end of this month's overview, list of the most active members of their local boards. joker_josue kept his title of the most active local board member with 280 posts written in Portuguese board, followed by Smartprofit (252) and cyop (247) from Russian board. And all this could have been avoided if Maxre didn't start that bullshit merit fishing topic about buying his first mobile phone using signature campaign earnings that caught attention initially, then to go on with use of chatbot. Once again forum shitposter has been flying too high to the sun just to get rekted, like Icarus did. Cheesy

    Seems like crypto news aggregator.

    Check this one: https://cryptopanic.com/
I've been using cryptopanic (not so much laetly as I've switched to Telegram) for a couple of years and I can confirm that its pretty good.

By far the most convenient way for me to follow all the latest news has been via Telegram, more specifically WatcherGuru and unfolded channels. Those two cover almost everything important that's happening in crypto and have been my main source of info lately.

1694  Other / Meta / Re: AI-generated post discussion thread: how to identify & report on: April 09, 2023, 07:19:51 AM
TL;DR - What are the rock-solid criteria for detection & definition of AI-generated text?
I personally avoid using those detection tools because of false positive and (at least for now) I think that the sudden increase in English level is probably the best piece of evidence that we can provide to prove someone is using chatbot.

Its probably harder to catch those brand new account that use chatbots right from the start, but so far I had some success with those as well.

For example, this post (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5424029.msg62038551#msg62038551) - which I'm almost certain is AI-generated - comes back as "unlikely" to be AI-generated according to OpenAI's Text Classifier, yet it is "99% likely" AI generated according to the Hive Moderation checker.
AI generated text for sure. 4 days ago he managed to wrote that and then yesterday he wrote the post below. There's simply no plausible explanation for such a drastic decrease of his English.

As you are saying that increasing number winning prizes will for sure increase number for your chances to increase your winning chances but I will say that this gambling algorithm don't work that way. As when there will be more winners than there might be more traffic and it would be more difficult for us win prize and probability of winning could increase of decrease by a lot of factors.
And also I think that we should predict on each side if you know that probability of your winning I'd more than 50% and it will increase your chances of winning too. I don't like those games that offer only 50% ratio as that's not good for us.
    1695  Other / Meta / Re: Ninjastic.space - BitcoinTalk Post/Address archive + API on: April 09, 2023, 07:00:45 AM
Check now. All posts on topic 5121680 (old Nigerian "mega thread") should have a board_id of 275 (Nigerian board), previously 11 ("Other languages/locations").
All good now, thanks man! This will speed up the proces as up until now I had to manually calculate their 12 months post number by adding posts written in their local board and those written in their megathread up until merge.
1696  Other / Off-topic / Re: I have bought my First Mobile Phone Because of Signature Compaign earnings on: April 08, 2023, 09:05:31 PM
My mean  is that I had small phone and it's model make was Oppo A53 and I don't know how I was doing all this. I have mobile but you know that I was very tired of this mobile as it's processor was too low and I  can't even open apps and it was disaster for me.
Well, that's entirely different story and I am glad to see that you edited the title so it reflects what actually happened. Anyway, congrats. Smiley

Just went through your post history and I noticed you have worked for Sherbet for about 3 weeks which the last week you were shot paid, your current rank is worth about 40$ base on the campaign payment 40+40+24 that's $104 from your 3 weeks signature earning, you did not spend a penny from the $104 and you later added extra $46 to your earning to make it $150 which is not equal to the half of the phone price which is $400 like you said.
If you read the first post carefully you would notice that OP had other sources of money other than signature campaign.

One of the (many) things I like about this forum is that people who come from less developed parts of world can actually improve their quality of life by just being active here. I think that even theymos said something along those lines and its one of the reason why I don't see signature campaigns going anywhere.
1697  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Bitcoin TA (Analiza) on: April 08, 2023, 08:49:07 PM

1698  Other / Off-topic / Re: I have bought my First Mobile Phone Because of Signature Compaign earnings on: April 08, 2023, 02:50:04 PM
So you want to say that up until now you didn't have mobile phone at all, yet you managed to lose almost $3k dollars by 2020 on various crypto scams? I mean, I can belive that part about you buying that mobile phone thanks to signature campaign earnings and kudos for that, but this part about being your first mobile phone ever, when you could buy pretty decent new smartphone (Xiaomi for example) for $150 like 5 years ago?

Honestly, smells like bs merit fishing story to me.

    Hey @TryNinja!

Ever since Nigerians got their local board, I have issues counting their total amount of posts written in the last year for my monthly overview as ninjastic.space doesn't count the posts written in their original thread that the used before they got their own local board. That thread is now incorporated in their local board, but when I want to see for example amount of posts written in their local board between April 1st 2022 and March 31st 2023, it doesn't count the posts written before that thread was merged into local board. It shows only 2894 posts while the real number is much higher than that.

Is it possible to somehow sort it show the correct number of posts?
