We will just have to wait and see. Me I just ordered one of those jalapeños so its not like I stand to lose thousands.
Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

You just won't make any money by the time you get it. There is still a huge backlog.

I think those who said they cancel and ask for refund  their BFL order are lying.

They can now easily sell them in Ebay for few times more , there are so many demands for pre-order sales now.

Not everyone understands how to sell pre-orders and ship them. Many don't know and don't want the headache of risking getting scammed or the complexities of shipping. It may be easy for some but to others they just don't know how.

Who knows maybe BFL will fold if bitcoin drops in price and everyone has an order on ebay.

I know I wouldn't want to sell my preorder on ebay, way too much scam going on over at ebay for anything bitcoin related.

Not that it's much different here but at least people here would be willing to pay in bitcoins

I requested a refund and I had it within a day back in my PP.

The reason was I don't want BTC anymore. I prefer LTC.

There's a meme for that http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3uvj4r/

One retail single has been shipped, "more" coming this week according to BFL. Once my little single arrives I'll be sure to post pics, I have an early order

Same boat I'm in - have early orders for singles. If they keep the same relative schedule that they did with the jalapenos I'll have mine within the month.

I wonder if there will still be people saying that Butterflylabs is not a Scam after they fail to ship by 2027. Undecided
I guess a year and a few months is not long enough for most folks.

I wonder why there are still idiots saying that BFL is a scam now that they've started shipping.

I ordered a Single back in February. I gave it 85 days to see if there was any progress, and emailed customer service for an update. At 89 days I reported the paypal transaction as a dispute (I didn't pay with BTC for just this reason) and got my money back.

It would have been nice to have that little single... but instead I just bought BTC. Got 18 of them for $25 apiece back then. So if I ever I wish-i-coulda-hada BFL rig, I realize that I lucked out getting a bigger ROI on bitcoins than I ever would have on the BFL chip.

The answer is because idiots are an infinite resource (dubious resource, granted).  I'm dead serious when I say this: We still get people claiming we never shipped any FPGAs.  I'm not being dramatic or exaggerating things... literally, we still get that fairly regularly.  It's amazing the cognitive disconnect so many people have with regards to reality.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it.  There was never anything there in the first place.

So are you really selling chips before you satisfy all of the customer orders you currently have or is that untrue as well?

Why delay the sale of chips when it has no effect on slowing down the delivery of other products? I've seen this complaint come up multiple times around the form and it's silly.

Well, all I can say is - I got my fpga order ahead of the estimated delivery date. And promptly ordered sc upgrades when they were offered. I know BFL intends to deliver my SC products as well. Sure it would have been nice to have them last year... but you guys aren't putting rounded corners on a cell phone here... or reinventing something that's already been done 1000 times before - you're creating a cutting edge product. I understand how much work and time that can take. As an aside, I find it highly ironic given all the obstacles BFL has had to overcome in the last year to get the products shipping, that the other guys are still behind on mh/s/j. Mythical mismanagement issues aside...

Speaking as a customer my only discontent with BFL was the previous lack of communication with customer. So I just wanted to take this chance to publicly thank you specifically Josh for going above and beyond on correcting that, it's really nice to get updates and your actual customers really do appreciate all of your hard work (not to mention everybody else at over at BFL).

A perfect example of my above statement. Thank you for providing it.

You are quite welcome and you're quite correct.  It's taken a lot of work to get to this point and we are pretty set going forward.  It's unfortunate that we were late with the product, but we do have the most advanced chip and board out there, the next few months should prove fairly interesting.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it.  There was never anything there in the first place.

So are you ever going to answer the question or are you just going to dance around it. I wasn't rude to you. You could simply say, no that is untrue. We are not selling chips.

Here's a post by Josh announcing the chip sales, if that suffices.
