hot and sunny day in cincinnati with 2 great semifinals to look forward to. yesterday was another day in the black with 4w/3l, and a bunch of voided bets due to the retirements of badosa and kvitova. making it 23w/13l overall here in this thread.

as i mentioned all week, i have medvedev and zverev making it to the final, the german takes his streak to 19-1 in sets won since wimbledon, i seriously doubt he will drop one today let alone 2.
medvedev continues his dominance here and i can't see how rublev could trouble him, daniil would love to save his energy for a tough final tomorrow, he will look to wrap it up in 2.

What a match in the semi final between medvedev and rublev despite being a set ahead medvidev couldnt win against rublev he was the favourite but rublev played his best game of the year especially in the second and third set,performing that well and beating medvedev who is in this great form is no easy thing and i think he will face in the final zverev which will be though too considering zverev is unstopable right now.

Yea "the incident with the camera" seemed to rattle Medvedev. He definitely wasnt
right after that. He was complaining that the court area was too small.

He seemed very rattled after that game and gave a speech that he will broke the camera into 1000 pieces and not pay for it if he looses the match. I immediately placed a bet on Rublev to win the set and another one to win the match. Too bad it was for very small amounts since it was more like a try at big odds then really believing Rublev can win. Before that incident it was all Medvedev and I was sure I am loosing my initial bet.

Man, what is tennis going to turn into when Federer and Nadal stop playing. The tournaments become more and more boring. Djokovic is pretty much the only superstar here. At least we saw Djokovic being vulnerable against Zverev at the Olympian game. But I really can't imagine Djokovic giving the chance away to take the all time lead in GS wins. I am also doubtful that Federer will return for the Australian Open, maybe he does it one more time, but his end is now coming closer quickly.

i like this way of thinking, some small details can show you where the match is headed, i also pay attention to some small details like those and make bets based on them and it works most of the times.
anyway, Zverev vs Tsitsipas is about to start right now, i am going for the favorite here, after the surprise Rublev made by beating Medvedev, i don't think we'll see another one today.

Same here, I didn't bet pre-game because I'm all Medvedev and I don't like the odds.

But after the incident, I bet on the over and got a win.

I agree, there's nothing to worry, there are a lot that are going to carry the torch if ever Federer and Nadal retires next year. Djokovic is still fighting for this top stop with the young gen of players. And as he aged as well, we might see a new set of top 3 or even top 3 when him and Federer and Nadal and Murray are dominating the tennis scene.

As in every sports, one way or another, father time will caught up on this tennis greats, but there will someone who are more willing to take their spot.

I had those over markets yesterday I am thinking of taking Zverev in straight sets today. Zverev never lost a set in his life against Rublev on hard court. They played 7 sets in total and Rublev only once managed to get to tie break.

Did you see the other controversy yesterday? Zverev was angry with Tsitsipas since he allegedly took all his stuff with him to the bathroom and called his coach after first set, which is obviously against the rules. He even said that same things happened in Paris Masters. If true, should be quite easy to prevent in future, just don't let players take their mobile in toilet or to the match. Not like they need it anyway while playing.

I don't know if you watched the game, but there was a lot of fire in it!

Tsitsipas left the court after the first lost set for 8 minutes with his whole bag, mobile phone and everything. Coaching isn't allowed but the cameras saw how Tsitsipas fatehr and coach took out their mobile phones when Tsitsipas was off the court. Even after the second court he wanted to leave with all his stuff again, but the referee held him back. Then Tsitsipas freaked out while Zverev was freaking out as well! Fun to watch I can tell

to add to the controversy, in the third set after being down a double break, zverev was feeling out of energy, was suffering at the end of every long rally, he had to step off court between points to vomit, called for a medic in the next change over, took a magic pill and got the business done.

i also agree with you regarding zverev taking the title in straight sets @ 2.07, his record against rublev on hard speaks for itself. he might be a bit exhausted from last night but the same can be said about his opponent who was on court only 20 minutes less than the german yesterday.

I skipped women's match. Was thinking of playing the same or handicap on Teichman but then I checked out Barty stats in the tournament and she had a walk in the park so far. Nobody took a set from her yet and she left Azarenka on just 2 games in the match. Granted Azarenka is nowhere near her best form but still she is a solid player.

Since I did not watch any of the WTA matches in Cincinnati it is difficult for me to judge how good were our finalists or if it was simply a case of bad opponents. That happens much more often in WTA since girls do not have a serve to get them through bad patches like most guys on ATP.

Yea it certainly looked like Rublev was spent after the big win against Medvedev in the
semi final and this contrasted greatly against Zverev's game which was almost perfect
apart from being broken himself in the second set which is where the 4 double faults come from.

Such a pity for Rublev, the result doesnt reflect his performance in the tournament at al.

receiving points won by Rublev in the whole match is just 8 points, and four of them where double faults made by Zverev, so he only managed to win 4 points on Sascha's serve in the whole match, that's really bad from him, but Zverev's performance throughout this tournament was outstanding, he deserved to win after a big comeback against Tsitsipas, so Rublev don't take all the blame.

^^ I agree, it looks like he was really spent and no push whatsoever in this finals.

I bet on the over, thinking this will be one thriller finals, with tie breaks and extended to three sets.

Anyways, its good to see two upcoming star on the finals, now it will be the US Open and this is their chances to huge the limelight in big stage, a Grand Slam.
