The game is underway, same result in the first set, Djokovic very dominant with a 6-1 win against Medvedev. Although Medvedev is trying to bounce back in the second set, leading 3-4 and there's no break yet.

Good win by Khachanov, I thought that Carreno will win in 3 sets, but Karen blasted him out in 2 sets, score is 6-3,6-3. So he is just waiting for the winner of the Djokovic vs Medvedev match. I lost my bet on Carreno with the handicapped, good for those who got Khachanov, because last time I check he was like 2.x underdog ML.

Great performance by khachanov i did not think he would win this easily i thought this can be a 3 sets game but apparently djokovic and zverev was the one its 1 -1 and judjing by this second set i think there is a big chance for zverev to win.

Right, Zverev found the magic in the second set and won it and then surprisingly leads 5-1 going on the third. It will take a miracle now for Djokovic to win, so I guess there's no more golden slam for Djokovic this year.

So Medvedev vs Khachanov for the gold medal. I think win his emphatic win against the best of Djokovic his chance of winning the gold are high.

well, i expected Zverev to win a set but not the whole match and with 6-3 6-1 after losing the first one 6-1, i thought it was done but somehow he truned the tables on Djokovic, that was unexpected, Nole still has a chance to win gold in mixed doubles with Stojanovic and a Bronze in singles against Carreno Busta, which is not bad at all.

unbelievable, Djokovic was down after 6:1, 3:2, he won only one gem until the end of the match, and his posture was bad actually, not sure that he will be able to play with Stojanovic after this defeat, it is a "golden slam killer", and mentally will be hard to overturn it in an hour, to play another match
maybe that was the mistake from the beginning to chase "second gold" in mixed doubles

It was a huge surprise for me that zverev really managed to win against djokovic today, i mean almost everything was directing into a clear win for Djokovic. He played almost perfect tennis for the biggest part of this season, he managed to beat nadal in paris and he seemed to be in the best shape of his life even in this olympic tournament so far where he had zero problems at all in his matches so far. The first seemed to be a pretty clear thing for Djokovic because it ended 6-3 for him but that was already a very close set where Djokovic only managed to make a few more points than zverev, but at the right time. Then in the second set the momentum shift happened after zverev managed to make 8 points in a row. Maybe Djokovic was tired after he played two matches yesterday.

Honestly, I was surprised that A. Zverev managed to defeat Djokovic in the semis of the men tennis game in the Olympics because A. Zverev is a player that shouldn't be underestimated cause he plays the game with his heart and such a player can do the unthinkable to win.
This is what I am trying to tell some people that believe Djokovic will be the gold medal winning not to conclude yet until Djokovic win the game.

Did not watch the match but I am really surprised how easy Djokovic won this match. I expected hot and moist conditions in combination with home crowd for Nishikori to be enough for a close match. Ah well another ticket lost but at least we have guaranteed gold and silver medals in double

Yeah its inevitable no matter how good the player is he will eventualy lose a match and thats what happened to djokovic today congratulations for zverev amazing performance and i ve seen that djokovic performance was a bit poor today compared to his game against nadal in frensh open and in the recent games.

it was a real shock, and he suffered defeat in mixed-doubles as well, so he will have two bronze matches tomorrow
Zverev and Khachanov will be a good fight, and I would not count out a gold for Russian, since he is pretty stable, when reach semi-final or final matches, usually losing much earlier on tournaments
nevertheless, in two sets, it is obviously easier to have upsets, than in three set matches (best of five)

Maybe Djokovic was tired after he played two matches yesterday.

that is the point i missed, i should have seen it coming, even though Djokovic is a really good athlete, he's still a human being, he gets tired and frustrated, playing two matches in one day is a little too much, you should have focused on singles only, but its' too late now, a bronze medals is his goal now, if he recovers physically and mentally from his loss yesterday, he can win them both.

Yeah, he had an easy first set when I checked the score, then the second was a dog fight and even up at one point. But suddenly he lost his touch in that set and unbelievably lost so many games that it is impossible to come back specially in the 3rd set.

Still has a fighting chance to get the bronze at least, not bad for the Olympics. But he can still go for the US Open for a slam.

I know he's after the grand slam record, but the Olympics must still be hugely important to him, as he's not won before. I'm sure he must have tried as hard as he could... but also he knows this was probably his last chance, as it would be asking a lot even for him to remain a contender in 2024. It's weird that of the top four players of the last decade, it's Andy Murray, who only won a couple of slams, who has two Olympic golds... Nadal also has one, but both Federer and Djokovic don't.

Tennis is one of those sports where the Olympics isn't the main thing... but still, in every 4 years there are 16 chances to win a grand slam event, but only 1 chance to win the Olympics. It's still a big deal.

When I was thinking before olimpic games who have chance to beat Djokovic here, I felt that probably only Medvedev or Zverev have some chance against Djokovic.
I think that Djokovic right how think to much about records and how to prove that he is the best tennis player in history.
It's only reason why he came to olimpic games but I think he should forget about records and results and try to enjoy again in tennis.

EDIT :  Djokovic lost again,  this time from Busta.
I really feel sorry because of him;  2 really very difficult days for him.

What the heck happened to Djokovic after the 3 - 2? He played like he had an injury or something, but it seems he was totally healthy. There are no news about that.
Sure Zverev played really well, but Djokovic didn't just lose the game, he got destroyed over 1.5 sets in total. I can't remember when we saw for the last time that Djokovic lost 10 out of 11 subsequent games in a tennis match.

Yesterday in his interview after the loss against Zverev, Djokovic mentioned he wasn't able to stay positive, because he missed the golden slam and mentioned tomorrow he'll start fresh to grab atleast one medal for his country. Now that too is demolished by the unexpected performance of Carreno Busta. The highest ranking Carreno Busta has reached in his career is No:16 during the year 2017. Such a player defeating the No:1 player is a big achievement.
