Yep, Medvedev is on 14-2 this season - he's really started strong. I'm quite doubtful that he will transfer these results to the clay surfaces, so I plan to bet against him soon enough.
He's been good on grass in recent years though, so will be among the favorites during Wimbledon for sure.
Medvedev will be a non-factor in the clay season. Assuming Nadal comes back healthy I don't think anybody has a chance of beating him at Rolland Garros. I would suggest placing some money on him now while his price is $3.50.

Nadal's gonna struggle with injuries a lot, this season(sadly). He is pretty much preparing to play the clay season swing while missing out on the American swing due to injury concerns and rehab. Which will see him out of world top 10 for the first time in EIGHTEEN years. Hopefully he's fully fit for the french open, but I do not have high hopes on him winning the French again, even though I'd love for him to. Also, yeah, Medvedev and Zverev do not like clay court much. It could be time for Thiem(if he's back in form), Rublev, Berrettini, Carlos Alcaraz to step up and lift the trophy this season. I'm sure I might be missing a few more likely contenders like Ruud etc. Should be interesting.

At the end of his career he seemed to have made friends with injuries, several times had to end his struggles in tournaments due to injuries and this time at the Miami ATP Masters he has announced his withdrawan due to injury https://www.atptour.com/en/news/nadal-miami-2022-withdrawal, now he has to concentrate on the French Open because this year will be his last chance to be able to add a Grand Slam title, The next year's will be even more difficult for him, Nadal needs recovery to be able to prepare for the clay season before RG

I don't know what's wrong with Zverev, to be honest. He was on the verge of achieving what Medvedev is currently doing but about 5 years ago. He should be in his absolute prime right now but I think the personal allegations and everything is taking a toll on him. Not able to give his best to tennis.
But you noticed that he could not play for 8 months because he was injured? --------------------- At least Zverev made it exciting at the end of the second set and it was not easy for Rublev. Zverev can be proud of himself. After all he rejected 5 matchballs. The next tournaments with Zverev will probably be Indian Wells and Miami Open. If Medvedev is not going to screw it now by losing his nerves, we will have a Russian final. It is now Medvedev's part to serve. Zverev's game was a good performance after his comeback from injury. Even though it wasn't three sets, it was still somehow a full distance game with this very exciting tie break in the end. Even when he lost I think he gained some confidence that he can go through critical situations in the game and fight hard. Looking forward now to the end result between Medvedev and Djokovic. I was quite sure that Djokovic would make it, still possible. And there we go, Djokovic is out! Was expecting honestly more from Djokovic in this semi final but Medvedev pulled through and now it looks more like an easy win for him against one of the best. Now he has a match against Rublev in an all russian final and it might be intresting to see who will win. I think we won't see Djokovic all that often this year as he will put all his focus on the Grand Slam tournaments and especially on the French Open because realistically speaking, that is the only tournament where Rafael Nadal could win another Grand Slam title and be one ahead of Djokovic again. Regarding Medvedev, well this tournament seems to have been a great one for him. The way he won the final also emphasizes that it wasn't easy for Djokovic to beat him at all. Medvedev didn't drop a single set during the whole tournament. I couldn't find an overview quickly but for now Djokovic still leads the ATP ranking with Alcaraz right behind him. I guess Alcaraz is going to overtake Djokovic this year given that he will probably play many more tournaments than him.

Another easy tournament for Medvedev and finally getting back into form. Three titles in a row is really something in such a small period of time. On clay Medvedev is awful,if tennis was played only on clay he wouldnt even be in the top 100 thats how bad he is

Medvedev is still one of the very best tennis players in the world, but he lacks some charisma and personality in my eyes. something Federere, Nadal and Djokovic all have. That can be the difference between the very best or the number 2. Djokovic in form is also almost impossible to beat, but he does have a lot of competition from players like Medvedev, Alcaraz and Sinner for example. The whole top 15 can make it difficult for Djokovic, but in the Australian open he was really too good for everyone. Yet Djokovic is much less dominant on clay.

It was expected that Rublev will be giving good fightback. Finally the match ended by the second set for much lower scoring of 6-2 6-2. Earlier it was Murray who holds the award of three titles winning in three weeks time. No others got such a match playing opportunity, even Djokovic, Federer, Nadal hadn't got this chance.

Since losing the final, he's not in himself, he's mentally completely disintegrated. By looking at this situation you can understand how great athletes the big three are; these guys lost so many finals to each other... They came back from unbelievable injuries, but they continued to win tournaments and rise to the top every time as if nothing had happened. We retired one leg of the big three, I don't even want to think about when nadal and djokovic also retire. About Medvedev, I can't get over the racism he endured. I don't care about his country's politics. In an individual sport, on a non-country representation platform, it was not ok that how he was treated.

Medvedev being able to win the ATP Dubai is not surprising especially after he was able to beat Djokovic in the semifinals so when in the final he faced Rublev it was relatively an easier match than in the semifinals so he could quickly finish the match and become a champion.
What was surprising was how Alex De Minaur was able to win at ATP Alcapulco because I didn't think he would be able to get through the semifinals when he faced Rune but it turned out that he was able to do it as well as in the final he beat Tommy Paul where in the semifinals he beat Fritz in a long and tiring match, in 3 sets De Minaur beat Paul.

Well, we also thought Medvedev was not going to win against Djokovic. But that happened. So the match between Alex and Rune is also something that had an unexpected outcome. But I guess at this level of tennis we have to be ready for any type of outcome. I was actually surprised to see the performance of Djokovic. I thought he was going to do a lot better than just reaching the semi-final. Especially with the performance that he had shown in the Australian Open. So that was a little surprise for me. Other than that at this level, I don't think anything was a big surprise, to be honest.

Yes an easy win in the end for Medvedev. I like Rublev as well as Medvedev but Andrey but in my mind he isnt progressing. He cannot seem to get on top of his emotions either. Daniil mentioned that this season he is working with a mental coach this year, I think thats actually clear over the last 3 tournaments, he seems to have control over his emotions on court compared to how he used to be.
de Minaur v Rune, Rune was suffering from cramps in the third set, he made something like 57 unforced errors. His service game and movement were affected. Well done to de Minaur for taking the title after beating Paul who had a gruesome match against Fritz.

It was actually a little one sided for me. Medvedev found it really easy to win the final. I thought he was going to have a little trouble. But he beat Rublev into consecutive sets. Of course, it was a little expected for many people. But I honestly did not think it is going to be that easy for Medvedev. Anyway, congratulations to Medvedev for winning the championship.

On clay Medvedev is awful,if tennis was played only on clay he wouldnt even be in the top 100 thats how bad he is That is maybe a bit too drastic to say how bad he is. It is true that he lacks versatility in that regard, but he is no exception in that some players have a very strong surface and sometimes also relatively weak surfaces. It is true that on cay Medvedev is a really awful player. If you check out his statistics, at least he achieves the 1/8th finals in the French Open frequently, but that's it. In Madrid, Monte Carlo and Rome Medvedev performed awfully as well. But still he can be a great player. What if on a hard court or also on grass he wins some Grand Slam titles? Could you still label him a bad player? I know what you mean but for as long as he has only one weak surface he can still be a top player (and in fact he has been by becoming the world's number 1). You can also have the extreme opposite where Nadal is outlandishly strong on clay. The best of the best lose against him on that surface without standing a chance, but that doesn't make them any worse either.

Yes, Djokovic is out. He will probably have to miss US Open this year as well. On a positive side: Wimbledon to allow Russian & Belarussian players to participate. Was Medvedev good on grass? As to Rafa, there is absolutely no point for him to play on hard right now before the start of clay season Madrid, Monte-Carlo, Rome and RG! Hard is highly traumatic surface for him plus add some jet-lag, acclimatization etc issues which are likely to weaken his aging body. Much better for him to miss the US tournament series and get ready for clay season.

Since 2022 have been facing this problem and now America have started to impose the vaccination a big issue and deny entry to the World's No.1 player. He had withdrawn the entry. Same applies for Miami open. With the vaccination issue he have missed significant tournaments and it continues 2022Australian Open Indian Wells M1000 Miami M1000 Canada M1000 Cincinnati M1000 US Open 2023Indian Wells M1000 Miami Open [soon expected]

I've seen this even long before, it was doubtful that Djokovic could go to United State for 2 ATP Masters tournaments namely Indiana Wells and Miami Open, it's really unfortunate but I think it's no longer a problem for him because he has accepted all the consequences of his decision regarding vaccines. I'm actually more interested in waiting for confirmation whether Alcaraz will participate in this tournament, I saw his name in the draw but haven't found any news that his participation has been confirmed.

So Alcaraz is top seed and is only scheduled to play on Friday! and the big names are only starting tomorrow, including Murray who is up against Etcheverry, I dont see the odds yet on that match but I will probably back Murray.

I just heard today that Djokovic has been refused entry to the U.S because he doesnt have a COVID-19 vaccination so wont be playing at Indian Wells.
A few weeks ago the competent authority announced that people who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 will also be allowed to enter the country from 11 May. Thus, it has been clear for a long time that Djokovic can not play at some tournaments in the USA. So I do not understand why this topic is now being discussed in the media again.
