Time to sell out??

I brought a RX470 a few months ago for AU$270.. now looking online all cards that are good for mining are sold out everywhere.  and now RX470 cards are selling for around AU$350 on ebay.  I'm trying to judge the perfect time to sell the GPU and just use that money to buy Ethereum.

If I sell the card now I could buy 0.8 ethereum, which would otherwise take 3 months to mine and after 3 months the difficulty would be such that the card is pretty useless anyway..  check the calc here: http://www.mycryptobuddy.com/EthereumMiningCalculator

For my XFX RX470 I have set to underclock and undervolt to 0.86v which reduced the power from 80w to 65w.   Currently getting 22Mh/s

Also configured to run on task scheduler with windows startup since windows updates kept stopping my miner.  Guide here: https://www.stephenmann.net/ethereum-mining

Why not mine ETC instead ?  The difficulty isn't that high yet? It's slowly going up in price.

From FAQ:

- Miner freezes if I put cursor to its window in Windows 10 until any key is pressed. Sometimes miner freezes randomly until any key is pressed.
You should make some changes in Windows:
  https://superuser.com/questions/555160/windows-command-prompt-freezing-on-focus
  https://superuser.com/questions/419717/windows-command-prompt-freezing-randomly?rq=1
  https://superuser.com/questions/1051821/command-prompt-random-pause?rq=1
When miner works with 1070 rigs pc freezes too much. I couldn't see anything that use too much cpu or ram in task manager. But if I enable intel graphic card and make it primary vga for windows there is no problem.
Can you help about it?

I use pool dwarfpool and i have e-mail send when miner stop.
dwarfpool setting for e-mail is   : write email instead password.
Claymore readme:  parameter password is  -epsw
My setting is   -epsw xxx@xx.xx   but when miner stop (crash) nothing happens. Miner not work hour and not e-mail send.
Why?

My mail from dwarf ended up in spam. Have you checked there?
I checked- no nothing in spam.

I would not sell it, and keep it mining as it's really profitable now... time will tell, but ETH may go even higher Wink

Nice calculator. Also try this one:

Have fun!

I've been mining successfully using Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.5  on Windows 10 using 2x480 4gb cards.  The last two days Ive been getting an error the "DAG file (epoch# 129) creation failed" and "open cl error cannot write big buffer with dag"

Here are the options I've been running it with:
-epool us1.ethpool.org:3333 -ewal 0x0eaccc7749599bccd3b91a41afd51f9f45f895e8.riglediggle3 -epsw x -dpool http://dcr.pool.mn:4722 -dwal lilbit.1 -dpsw 1

This system has been running fine for months, so I'm assuming things were broken by a hardware failure or windows update.  Any other options?

I'm guessing Claymore made some fixes by now but on Apr 13, 2016 there were other people getting that error (I did a search in the forum) and Claymore responded with this"

"Read OP:
1. Check disc space.
2. remove DAG files and start miner.

I will fix all these issues soon."

not sure if that will help send you in the right direction or not.

I'm assuming you are getting it on both cards.  If so, I doubt it's a hardware failure.   If it's only on one card, then maybe.

I have the same issue..

Using 2 rx 570 directly to the board, all fines.

Adding 1 card using a riser.. and

openCL error -61 - cannot allocate big buffer for DAG. Check readme.txt for possible solutions
opencl error -38 - cannot write buffer for dag

I uninstalled the driver.. put 16gb pagefile, reinstalled drivers, repatch.. nothing works Sad

I removed the card plugged with the pci riser and still the same error.. I am confused

any idea?!?

I'm having a issue with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04 on my 1060 3GB.

ETH only I get about 18Mh/s, dual w/ LBC I get 16Mh/s (Eth) and 33Mh/s (LBC).  Sia is a similar story.  My LBC hashrate should be closer to 150 Mh/s.

This is on a EVGA 1060 3GB SC.  I have ample power going to the cards.  I've tried googling all over, but can't find much mention of something like this happening. On Linux I'm using the proprietary drivers.

(Note: This is on two different machines. The only common hardware is the graphics card itself)

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, I have the same issue with the latest batch of ASUS cards. They have Hynix ram in them (not sure if it makes a difference). I'm getting 18mh no matter what I do - and can overclock the mem only to about +500 before they crash. All drivers do the same, it's definitely the cards. I kinda gave up, and thought oh well, make the most of it before the flood of hashrate that will hit us in a few weeks from all the new batches of AMD cards that are about to hit the network.

IF anyone has any suggestions, please hit us up.

I realized that I was still running 1.0 beta.  Downloaded 9.5 and everything is running fine.  Not sure why 1.0 beta broke...?  Thanks!

Here is how I do. I put everything related to mining such as miner software, tweaks etc and add an exception to my kaspersky for this directory.
Kaspersky will not check it at all so nothing gets deleted from these folders in this directory.

@Claymore is that truth about drop of hashrate? Can you fix it? Are we doomed?

AMD 100% is the best choice right now if you exclude the shortages. If you can get your hands on 580s for less then $300 or even $400 they're worth buying. They use the same amount of energy as a 1070 (give or take), and you can mine mainstream coins with them to get decent revenue. With Nvidia you have to mine niche coins which are easily saturated or you make like 30% less with a 1070 vs a 580 (Equihash vs Eth+Sia). AMD also has niche coins, which you can also find that Nvidia is bad at.

Mainstream coins offer stability and safeguards against your revenue dropping out from under you, either due to a big miner hoping on it, buy support disappearing, or the market just outright crashing. There is absolutely no reason to buy Nvidia. You offer absolutely no points to back up your argument besides 'Nvidia best4evar'. I mean I want to feel good about the $10k worth of hardware I bought too, but that's not the way reality works.

current generation of polaris cards (rx470, rx480, rx570, rx580) has this tlb trashing bug again with epoch from current and higher loosing half of hashrate on epoch 199.
It is observed with claymore miner with current drivers. Dunno if it can be fixed. So if nothing will change you will be sticked to low epoch dagger-hashimoto coins just like with Tahiti cards.
