Obyte is a good project, with good use cases, so you should not stop thinking negatively about Obyte. Thinking simply and positively will help you to have better emotions on Obyte, then can help you maintain patiently waiting for its bull run, that is very close for now. Bitcoin went first with its bull run, that started weeks ago, now it's turn of altcoins, including my favorite Obyte. I still remember my sweety memory with Obyte back in middle of 2018, when the project run its month-lasting campaign.
That wasn't my question. It had to do with development. Is there active development? I don't really care about positive thinking or prayers or karma or bull runs so much.

Is there any honest development still going into this project? I was a big believer in it earlier, bought a bunch, and now see it's just totally dusted. Pretty disheartening.
Development happens on Github, all the code is open-source, so you can see what is going on https://github.com/byteballJust month ago, there was a huge wallet update, which fixed many small bugs that the wallet had and also introduced prosaic contracts https://github.com/byteball/obyte-gui-wallet/releasesNext big change is already on testnet https://github.com/byteball/OIPs/blob/master/oip-0002.mdOnly the biggest news are posted on Bitcointalk, but these get buried behind FUD very quickly. If you want to know what is actually going on then join Discord, Reddit or subscribe to newsletter.

The unique feature of Obyte is distribution. All community only focused on a failed distribution, since for BTC holders/lovers,converse the free Obyte to BTC is the best choice.

Already listed on many exchanges, difficult to list on better exchanges if you don't even have volume on existing ones. https://obyte.org/#exchanges

Bittrex, on one my withdrawal sent me OBytes twice with an interval of few days. Anyone expirienced that?
Support looks like inadequate and refuse to accept that.
Or maybe I'm wrong somehow? These are transactions ids:
jJJasIustCnTGagYNSmw9KJzp5QuZGKZHrmdllzC3f4= uh3gMPMLeXFzvdnx/9Wcf8ukZxTlPWzS9NwnZhH0eF8=
Same amount 15000614340, same destination address DHR3TJ647XOEYPQNU3UPKU5T4EEKGXKX, different sender (guess both are Bittrex wallets). I made only one withdrawal, I'm sure of that, and didn't make any other transactions from wallet or from other exchanges.

Just think at the prosaic contracts, which alone is a tool theoretically able to change the way ordinary people do ordinary contracts worldwide. If they only knew. It will take time I guess.

Hi, The branding name shouldn't have any influence on backups. So, try simply to load your 2017 backup into the last version of the Obyte wallet. Bye

what i know is , safe the wallet.dat , and reinstall the wallet and replace the old wallet with the new one... Don't think it works this way. Have a look at this good article https://steemit.com/byteball/@profchydon/how-to-perform-a-full-backup-and-restore-for-your-byte-walletIt has been written before the rebranding to Obyte but the wallet still works same way as before I guess. So download the latest version a perform a restore from backup/fullbackup dependng on how you saved it two years ago.

Exactly, Obyte is not a Bitcoin fork, so there is no wallet.dat, you need to use the "Full backup" from the settings and then "Restore from full backup" on new device. After that you should stop using the old device.

When the name was changed to Obyte and why?
I still see Byteball name and ticker GBYTE on exchanges, so this rebranding was not so successful.
Byteball was and still is a great name for a coin, so why to change something which is good and works?
This will only bring more confusion, as we see from posts above and that is the last thing Byteball/Obyte/GBYTE/Black Bite needs right now.
We all know that this project has always problems with marketing, distribution and a few others, but this rebranding idea is the worst from all of them.
Results we see on the price exactly, this the perfect measurement tool. I was sure Byteball/Obyte price found his deep but was wrong and is still going down every day.
That this project with such a great tech behind cannot find a place on the crypto market is just something hard to understand, taking into consideration all this shitcoins in first 100 on CMC.

Version 2.7.2 released https://github.com/byteball/obyte-gui-wallet/releases* Fixed crashes of full wallets under some circumstances. * Added backup reminder that pops up once the total balance exceeds $10 and urges you to create a backup. * On Android, the app now displays where the backup was saved and allows to immediately share it to your other device or cloud storage (e.g. via Dropbox, email, Telegram, etc). * Fixed a bug in message signing function when the message didn't contain any address. * Fixed a bug in message signing function in iOS wallet, the signed message was incorrect. * Fixed sending of textcoins via WhatsApp on Android. iOS wallets already received the update a couple of days ago, the release for other platforms was delayed due to building issues on Android, which are now solved.

There is a small typo in the back up warning: ‘recoomended’ instead of ‘recommended’.
