I consider last week highly unprofessional, and told them so. You can't state in your ToS that it is a b2b model and then deliver more than a week late. And I think a kind of compensaton is in order. Not only in form of a few bitcoins or cashback, that would be pretty much pointless. I want a voucher for 50% off on the next gen devices/november units for every unit which should have been here by Thursday/Friday last week.

actually,  I will see your unrealistic gripe and raise an insanely mad request and demand that KNC give all of us DAY 1 customers our own ASIC mining company for our troubles

it is the only compensation that seems fair at this point

This request is neither unrealistic nor is it in any way unheard of. Even If it's not 50% (but depending on the delay it should be!) but 25%, it is still common practice to do so. It is basically the opposite of Skonto, where you pay less if you pay within a given timeframe.
As long as both sides are okay with it everybody wins. And right now I don't feel happy at all with standardised answers from some fresh hired goons instead of an answer that satisfies me as a maybe non-returning customer.

So I'm worried about my KNC Jupiter that is arriving today blowing up while I'm not there. Has there been any consensus on how best to limit the risk? Which firmware version is best?

asaik the consensus is at the moment:

a.) dont use fw 0.90 as it may be damaging the boards
b.) dont use fw 0.92 as both fires occured while using 0.92

in terms of lid open or closed the jury is still out

what about .93? or it is just .92 with fixed reboot after upgrade feature?.)

what I am saying is that we all knew that KNC wished well, but could not predict future in such short turnaround time.

yes, they should of hired a few folks more that knew logistics, packing and shipping.   yes, they should of started building the hosting center earlier

but it is sad that a nice company like KNC will turn into rude assholes like BFL and Avalon just by crazy demands like yours over and over.

Hi,

I ordered 2 Saturns. One with shipping to Germany, one with hosting at KnC. Both orders were confirmed as DAY1 (whatever interpretation this
should mean, DAY1 of production, DAY1 of shipping).
She shipped Saturn did arrive today (08.10.2013) before 10am with FW 0.91.
It had been pre-configured with my (Bitminter) mining pool informations. That's fair!

Hashing speed had been around 270GH at about 270W (230V installation).

I left the system unattended for like 3 hours and the hashing rate did drop to 90GH. I did not check the power usage at that state.

Upgraded the system to FW 0.93. Since then it's running with 250-290GH (cgminer) and 260-275GH (Bitminter short term stats).
Latest long term stats from Bitminter: 256/263GH
Power usage: 270W (same as before)

The web interface does not allow a configuration for a backup pool.
SSH access, getting into cgminer (3.4.0) allow configuration of a backup pool.
After doing this, the web interface does not work for the pool config anymore. Empty page.

Looks like the pool config did survive a software (firmwae) update. Passwords did not!

Still no update on the hosting Saturn. (Menig might be able to look into the future)

It's fine. Maybe your PSU will die, but you can just get another. It's not going to break your miner. 850W is more than enough.

Why would his PSU "die" when yours wouldn't? I have a PSU in every company, and that qualifies me as the expert. You cannot just say something will die maybe unless you have proof. Again, I have every PSU ever made.
