Yea, we were told to hold some coins and all that. Where are those Jupiters? By the time they annouce them, they will be $1000 each.

well screw it if it ..if wire xfer is not allowed i'll probably pass.....esp. if they announce the last week of the year on this no time for buy sell bitcoin etc etc anyway..

it was 1 for me and 1 for each of the brothers total of 3 Jupiters at worst anyway ..will not break the bank...

again we have 1 batch 1 Neptune and 1 batch 2 Neptune...the brothers have now caught the bitcoin bug since thanksgiving and wanted to order another
from batch 3 Neptune..but honestly with cointerrra and hashfast and bfl prob 3 months late and the neptunes all coming on board..I .just an't brave enough ..this is new tech
is 20mm and they an't built yet and the old Q1/Q2 statement it could get ugly....(could even get cold feet on the 2nd batch Neptune) ...alas coward I am.....sigh...

we also mine who quiver and waiver don't ya know

so wire xfer we can each take say a 3.5k gamble if we get them before feb 1st more or less......

if no wire xfer I will just sit on my a*s and hope/wait knc does its usual miracle and get them neptunes to us in Q1 at the latest.

by the time the Neptunes get here I should have close to 45 coin....so nothing wrong with holding and watching....spring is gonna be kinda nuts imho ...disturbingly I am in this for the long term...it either works...or I'll have some nice bitcoin paper wallet wall art behind the Bennie babies....ie good life lesson huh?

ah well....

I've been trying to determine if the next unconfirmed batch of Jupiters will be worth buying and want to share my estimates. Please keep in mind that my goal is to be somewhere between pessimistic and realistic.

Assumptions:
  • Next batch will be delivered by the first week of February 2014
  • Hash rate will by 670GH/s
  • Difficulty will increase at 25% per adjustment for the lifetime of the Jupiter
  • Shipping costs will be $136.80 (based on previous Jupiter shipments)
  • Power supply will cost $200
  • Power consumption will be 900W @ $0.15/kWh
  • $700/BTC
  • No VAT or customs fees (I'm in the US)

Using the above assumptions, the next batch of Jupiters should generate 8.52 BTC before becoming unprofitable based on this calculator. Subtract the electric costs and the remaining BTC will be worth $5340.95 @ $700/BTC.

tl;dr - I think the next batch of Jupiters need to be priced below $4,995 to be profitable.

my guess is the price will be $3500....any more then that and KNC does its usual miracle and gets the Neptune out beginning of april ..can't see it as worth it...

also was pointed out to me by phoenix1969 that the jupiters if they are flushed into the wild are "in stock" ie no refunds likely on those if they can flush them out the door..ie can't change your mind probably if you buy them 1st week of jan and they come out last week of feb or some such

my 2c worth
Searing

p.s. but yeah at 3500 bucks before feb 1st I'd be tempted....

I'm confident they'll be cheaper than the $5k November pricing. The upgrade modules were $950 each, which would have placed the cheapest Jupiter equivalent at $3,800 plus case/fans/controller/BBB. I'm expecting the next Jupiters to be below that cost. I would be highly surprised if they were priced over $3995.

November price was $4500 if you pay with bitcoin....

Smiley

The new ones will be in january. 4500 - 3x500 = 3000. That should be the price.

They will ship from stock and be priced competitively I'm sure once HashFast officially launches to their first customers.  No point in shipping until HashFast seems to finally be the real deal.  People there are still waiting on their shit.  Amazing.

Is anyone here mining alts?  How does a person set up their own private pool?  The alts seem so scammy but I'm still curious about them.

Looks like HF is closer than ever now and they appear to have a much faster machine than advertised according to the Eligius address they're using. I still feel bad for those who ordered from batch 1 since it would take 1532Gh/s on Jan 1st to equal the 400gh/s they were promised on October 20th. Regardless, they'll likely start shipping on Monday, which may prompt KnC to take action and sell us more stuff.

They've already taken action - they are selling the machine they sold for 13k for 10k now  Cheesy

It's desperation, as they see they were far too greedy with the 13k price tag. People are beginning to see knobtune is a dead duck. Competition already have the tech now knc are promising in Q2/Q3. knc are just desperately want to take any cash they can get their hands on.

That said, since I spelled out that the short term gain of selling new Jupiturds will burn their knobtune sales in the long run, they may not even sell a new batch. A few jups now is worth a helluva lot more than some faulty beta device in Q2/Q3 and you know it'll lead to mass knobtunes refunds if people could order jups now instead. Or of course they could make it impossible to get a refund on knobtune and *then* release Jups? That is certainly possible, I wouldn't put it past kfc to pull this sneaky stunt.

And regardless of any of the misleading bs posted here, there are only two batches:
First batch - 10k, which was open to previous customers
Second batch - 13k, open to all, delivery one month after first batch

The current 10k ones on sale on the knc website are the *same* second batch people paid 13k for! Yeah - if you paid 13k, you were f-ed in the a44.

This is why knc have not advertised this sale - they don't want to have to refund the extra 3k they've taken from people. They hope people will be misled into thinking it's another batch. It's not and don't believe anyone who tells you it is. The clue is in the title "Neptune Second Batch" and description "This order is for the second batch which will leave about one month after the first batch".

P.S. My next prediction is when they will shut the refund window on knobtunes? I guess not that far away, they need to lock that cash in when people realise they are going to mine diddly when they ship. March? April? Or earlier? I originally thought April, but now the competition has arrived and knc are getting scared, you'd have to guess earlier.

Very important to note that the "All refunds will be refunded in dollars and you can refund up to shipment" has been removed from all newsletters related to knobtune. I knew this was coming ^ . What does that signal??

You can be 100% sure they are about to slam the refunds door shut and your money will be locked away. There is no way they will start the NRE, sink that money and allow people to still get refunds. Everyone was locked in this year in Jupiter orders by their own choice, because there was no competition. So knc didn't need to refuse refunds up until people really started to get cold feet in September, (which is when they did their "no more changes possible" newsletter and started their downward spiral of blatant lying to customers).

But this time there is major competition and you can be 100% sure "no refunds" is on the way very soon. Much sooner than I expected - you'd have to guess in the next couple of weeks. It just needs a trigger. That will probably be when people get back from holiday and realise they paid 13k for something that is only 10k and start asking knc for the 3k back. I imagine that is when the cash will be locked away until knc can fumble out some beta junk sometime in 2014. I am one happy Avenger that knc don't have any of my cash this time. And I'm looking forward to the new year fireworks!  Wink

Because -- boxes delivered later are worth less because they will mine less coin.

The selling price is set by KNC as to be representative of what they will accomplish. They are not doing a normal markup/margin.

There are three batches, one which they named "existing customers only" and we named "batch 1", one which they named "batch 1" and we named "batch 2" and one which they named "batch 2" and we named "confusion". 1200 units each to a total of 3600 units.
Maybe we should just use the KnC names to make this easier for us all to understand. Existing customers only, batch 1 and batch 2.

Yes, I, an existing customer waited too long and found myself in batch 1.

Wouldn't it be nice if for existing customers who found themselves in batch 1 they throw in an upgrade module for the existing customer's Oct or Nov miner, this for the strange price bump then drop.

Actually the first batch which cost 10k and 13k are the same batch 1 units. KNC just gave their customers a break on the price. Batch 2 is what is currently being sold to everyone for 10k.

So if you weren't already a KNC customer when the batch 1's came out and you paid 13k well that's too bad for you! Smiley But not to worry you'll have your Neptune a lot sooner than I will have my Batch 2 rig, so what's big deal?

I don't know why people can't count.... but here it is ...
There are THREE batches of Neptunes folks, not two, regardless what Avenger says.
He's always full of misinformation, and if you expect to know what's really going on...
you may be better off totally ignoring his bullshit.

1.The first batch, was called "The customer Appreciation batch", and was priced at 10k, consisted of 1200 units.
this batch was deemed q1/q2 delivery.
We were then guaranteed time before the next batch here... weeks.

2.The second batch, deemed "General Public Batch one", was 13k, and also was 1200 units, as stated,
will come weeks after the customer batch, also stated to be delivered in Q1/Q2 of 2014.

3."Batch Three" is actually "General Public Batch 2" 10k (being sold now) is yet another 1200 units to be delivered yet a few more weeks after  "in The previous batch.
and this one is marked for delivery solely in Q2 of 2014"

BUT THIS?.....

no one understand why pay 13k and now is 10k

kidding with our money

Because -- boxes delivered later are worth less because they will mine less coin.

The selling price is wet by KNC as to be representative of what they will accomplish. They are not doing a normal markup/margin.

WRONG and RIGHT at same time......   3 batches   yes 3k extra for gen public batch 1, that's our reward.  Grin
a pretty hefty one too... think about it... 3k less, and weeks earlier than public batch 1

and This:

no one understand why pay 13k and now is 10k

kidding with our money

Because -- boxes delivered later are worth less because they will mine less coin.

The selling price is wet by KNC as to be representative of what they will accomplish. They are not doing a normal markup/margin.

The diff has been doubling every month...of course the Neps a month later will be about 23% less in price.   (3*100/13)   using "is/of = %/100" method.
Do you really NOT understand all this? Or are you purposefully trying to relay FUD?

There's no "mystery" to the price drops over time.... especially since they did this before with Saturn & Jupiter
The mystery is how you missed the closing out of the first general public batch, and the week they sat "sold out" before offering the current 10k batch.
it makes perfect sense.
Your comments don't.

Think about this for a minute...  do you really want the price to stay the same over time, between batches,  or do you expect it to drop?
