I think one of the main reason why bitcoin is still number 1 digital currency was the price of it is tough high, and this is because the people community patronized it so well and gave it a high value compare  to other altcoin/cryptocurrency.

Price probably plays a great role in making bitcoin the number 1 digital currency in the world. Though it has many features but the first thing an ordinary person would see about a currency on internet is probably its price and the fact that it grows, so yes bitcoin is famous because it has a huge price.

The features can be copied but bitcoin was first to gain the interest and trust of the people, hence, it is not very popular due to the decentralization feature which we have been waiting for as it gives us freedom to use online. Well for me Bitcoin was already proved to us why it should be number one and as time goes by and it really become more popular that other merchants was already accepting bitcoin as their mode of payment and on the years that passed there will be a time that it's value will become very low but still they managed to get back in track and prove what really the worth of bitcoin is I see that it has so many potentials that number one isn't the word needed to describe how awesome bitcoin is.

I think the name " bitcoin " is not good but it is strange to hear . The name of bitcoin , when I heard first time then I behave very strangely about it because I never heard any name like this . But when I saw many people are involving then I made a post in a Facebook bitcoin group " what is meaning of bitcoin " everyone said it is only name and don't have any meaning .
But now I am thinking that bitcoin = bit + coin
where bit is very small part of internet data and coin means any useful thing that have its value in the market of online world .

i do not think that ethereum is even close to bitcoin, Bitcoin is number one online currency and will also remain number one in future. the number of bitcoin users are more than any other currency users, and its users are also increasing continuously, bitcoin is continuously  becoming more stronger and stronger because the users of bitcoin are so much confident that they are even investing their whole assets in bitcoin. bitcoin can now be use as fiat in local shops where no other currency is acceptable.

besides the word of 'bit' is correlated with something about computing and 'coin' about money.
it is meaningful , means a money that can be accessed through your computer.

It does not look possible so soon. Bitcoin has got its fame and name in the community now and it has takes its time to reach this place, now if any coin wants to challenge bitcoin then that will have to take its time too and until that happens bitcoin will probably reach higher then where it is right now, so it does not seem to be possible for any coin to defeat bitcoin.

This is not about the name, instead it is all about how the community will pursue more about in bitcoin. In fact, many of the altcoin they clone BTC together with the concept and features too. In that matter, if bitcoin is the reference to be clone it there is something that bitcoin has and the one who copying it don't have any. And that's the reason why bitcoin is leading in the digital currency.
