i think name doesn't matter the reason that why it is number 1 is that it is the first cryptocurrency ever and people just love this idea of earning and investment like this so i think if its name was other than  it always be popular like this......  

It's the number one because it's the original, others are called altcoins and they won't be called that name without the original. It is the leading now in terms of volume because more people trusted bitcoins and I am one of them. I am already seeing a great success of bitcoin and it will certainly help us to be profitable if we make this as our passion.

I agree i haven't seen a better name yet but the name itself don't mean everything.

If a time comes where many many transactions are getting rejected or too many unconfirmed transactions on the blockchain gather up, or if the transaction fees go up ridiculously high, people will search for an alternative.

Not because they'll want it, it is because they'll have to.

If the bitcoin system can't satisfy the consumer base's needs in the future, it will just die. It won't matter if it has the coolest name or being the first cryptocoin or smth. A better cryptocoin which can get the job done will replace bitcoin.

If bitcoin doesn't fail any of those i mentioned above, bitcoin will stay as #1.

It's hard to find a better name for a digital currency, and the devs were clever in that sense. However, this is not the main reason that drives users to use Bitcoin. The OP probably knows this, so I think he/she is kidding.
What makes it difficult for other currencies to achieve the same degree of success is the fact that Bitcoin has, at the same time, a network that is decentralized and stable. In addition, it is difficult for a cryptocurrency to have such a large and active community as the Bitcoin community, which plays an important role in promoting the currency and creating new possibilities to use it.

One thing I have seen that bitcoin possesses that other Alt are still grasping on is the anonymous nature of the developer. These days we see developers some are even known to be popular faces in the crypto-world, they identify themselves make themselves known and the likes but they still not sucessfull in creating a 90% error free coin compared to bitcoin who developer we dont know if he is alive or dead but has created something worthwhile that others are still trying to beat. That to me is the reason why bitcoin is and will continue to be number one.

I think bitcoin is always in the top because of the continuous adoption by more people to used bitcoin and also the good intention that bitcoin itself can help more people to increase their revenue for the month by taking bitcoin as other source of income.

"Bitcoin" is indeed a very good name for a crypto-currency. But there are already some other existing cryptocurrency names that are interesting and nearly on the same "quality level". (I talk here only about the names, nothing more).

"Monero" is an example. The name leads to associations with "money" or "coins" in many world languages: English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and even German. That's an advantage versus Bitcoin, although Monero lacks the connection to "bits and bytes".

"Peercoin" is also a very good name, because it relates to the Peer to Peer principle. In my opinion, it's on the same level than "Bitcoin".

"Ethereum" is also not bad. It sounds a bit "nerdish", but the name looks like that of a precious metal or a rare chemical element.

Dash, NXT, NEM, Ripple and Steem are particularly bad names. Also "Bytecoin": In my opinion, it sounds like a copycat. If there is a Bitcoin established as a brand, then "Bytecoin" will be to Bitcoin as Adibass to Adidas, for example

A crypto's name is like a business card for a company. It does not make the crypto any better or worse technically, but it has an impact on the crypto's reputation and a crypto's reputation has real value. For example, a crypto that has a copy-cat name suggests the crypto cannot provide any innovation, just wanna copy the other crypto's success. In this example, people would prefer the original over the copy. So, name will not make any crypto #1 or last, but it has impact on its reputation.

No doubt, altcoins will flourish with the passage of time but they cannot compete with bitcoins. Bitcoins are far more superior and no altcoin can compete with them in terms of usage, volume and price.

Nah, Bitcoin is not the first virtual currency, There are a few who came first before bitcoin like digicash and e-gold . I think that the first digital currencies inspired satoshi to make a new one that we now know as bitcoin . It's not the first one to be created but It;s the first one to be this successful . That's why if our money will not be in physically touchable . There is a great chance that it will be bitcoin .

Since many company right now are trusting it i think bitcoin will stay long and still be number 1 in crypto currency but in payment method many competitors actually the same as bitcoin and much more speed of using it that you can almost all use it in online shopping unlike in bitcoi nthat they are fewer sites are accepting bitcoin but we do not know what will be happen in the future and maybe also amazon can accept bitcoin as payment.
