Bitcoin will still number due to the first crypto currency alive and successful by many years and now many company are using bitcoin and more investors are using it.. if you can notice buy many site right now they are added bitcoin as payment using bitpay.. and i think its really help us more people to know about bitcoins because of easily to use and the price is not stable and getting the benefits of the price increase..

Well it was the first cryptocurrency ever created, so it is just normal the it is number 1 for now. But there is a lot of competition trying to solve the weakness of bitcoin. If bitcoin will fail to adopt in the future or if it fails to scale, there will be a chance another cryptocurrency will take its place. There are some good alt-coins coming out and under good developers with good road maps.
in fact still the number of bitcoin users are increasing compartively more than any other crypto currency. that is why bitcoin is still number one crypto currency of the world. A lot of factor actually makes bitcoin irreplaceable It was the pioneer of cryptocurrency, no way bitcoin kicked out from the top list The name also as op mentioned, easy to remember not like any other crypto that have complicated names. Bitcoin is great but is is not as great as you think. It is because Bitcoin is the origin so that many people enjoy using it. In the future, other cryptos like zcash and etherium will replace Bitcoin to become the number one digital currency. There are still many errors in Bitcoin and I think it can not supply all the people on this planet Lol i even never heard about what zcash it is How can it replace bitcoin? It's too big to be replaced , it has super large ecosystem already When zcash or ethereum is a newcomer that i think have no chance to take bitcoin place Altcoin just a small form of digital money , while bitcoin is the center all of them. |

You are right. Bitcoin really use more and more people. That is why it is not only the Cryptocarrency #1, but it will be a very long time. Remove him might only some revolutionary technology that may appear in future. And it will be very soon. |

Right now it just has the best brand recognition and media attention. So bitcoin has a massive headstart.
But if we keep this 1MB blocksize limit we might fall behind eventually.
Which is why it's important that we get past this limit soon.

That is partially true. Bitcoin the name itself will make you declare that is it the Father of all cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is the one who started the term virtual currency. With that said it also has the largest market share and is the most successful cryptocurrency out there. Also from what I know it is the only cryptocurrency that is accepted by some local businesses.

Bitcoin is great but is is not as great as you think. It is because Bitcoin is the origin so that many people enjoy using it. Because it's the first crypto currency and most trusted.Bitcoin has a lot of good features which makes difference between other coin.Bitcoins price is also a reason of why it will be the number 1 and I believe no altcoin can reach bitcoins price.Most of the altcoin are dependent on bitcoin.

Yes you are right , when we hear about crpto currency the first name that comes in mind is bitcoin. In my opinion bitcoin will always remain no 1 cryptocurrency because it has already proved its capability and its a successful coin. All others are just emerging. People will always want to invest money in successful coins only. Bitcoin is one such thing. Day by day its getting popular. Among cryptocurrencies bitcoin is the most successful coin, so there will be more users for it. Since majority of the other cryptocoins are in emerging stage , their users will be less. |

The one point is that which you mentioned that it is used by a number of companies and that is making it a best crypto currency while other currencies which will not be adopted by companies will not survive for longer. Because if the companies will adopt any currency then people related to that company will adopt it on wide scale and will start believe on it and with that the market cap will increase and so the coin will be more stronger and that coin nowadays is only bitcoin. |

As long as merchants and businesses will be accepting bitcoin payments, I'm not having any doubt that bitcoin will remain as number one crypto currency all the times. When there will be some acceptance, the growth of bitcoin will be ensured. So, I strongly believe bitcoin will maintain its position and status in upcoming years too. |

Bitcoins decentralization and open ledger makes it functional and being a parent crypto will continue seeing it as #1 and hopefully if the blocksize issue is sorted out btc will keep being number #1 and not lose its userbase despite major companies around the world wanting to have their own cryptocurencies to challenge bitcoin and other known coins.

I think it does not really depend on the name but...the future and features of it...now the bitcoin price is stable and on increase side....helping every investors to make money and gaining lots of profits..Bitcoin is becoming globally known step by step because of its becoming popular...... Bitcoin will continue to be no 1
Maybe one day another cryptocurrency can be more popular or more profitable or more useful than bitcoin. But this does not means bitcoin is always number one. As you know bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency, the first original one. That's why bitcoin will always the number one  |

We all know its not just about the name, but BitcoinBarrel is right about this one.
The name doesn't matter to me but what matters most is the originality. Bitcoin is the origin of all alts and I doubt it that there are some other alts that can win against bitcoin. I believe that it has a very strong foundation where it cannot be lose to another alt. And more people prefer to use bitcoin since then and that won't change. |

For me its not about the name, the name is good but the features are negative in the eyes of the community, well that is still useless. The main reason why bitcoin is still number 1 it is because of its unique features, one thing there is good was the anonymity and decentralize, this has been said here for so many times. And I know, many of us like that features of bitcoin. |
