Shit, as long as I get a refund, and he processes them, that's all the communication I need right now. Hope he does update us though.

Nice work! I would have been in about this position had everything gone as planned. But this is assuming that all 16 chips hashing per board last I heard/read this wasn't the case or was that fixed? Ether way, Seeing that it would still be possible to achieve ROI this late in the game is awesome. If Avalon didn't drop the ball everyone involved would have made a nice chunk of change. Hopefully some or most of the remaining hardware can be put towards a bitfury or other chip venture as I'm totally jaded by this Avalon mess. P.S. Keep up the good work with refunds ect Steamboat!

well I was probably one of the last hold outs, requested a refund for 64 chips in group buy #1 & groupbuy #2. I highly doubt even if steamboat ships these by mid october we'll be able to make even 1/3 ROI. What a shitty situation, I hope steamboat can either A. Give us a better refund for assembly. B. Secure Gen2 Avalon chips and use them for our full assembled boards. Any idea how steamboat is refunding shipping, testing, and full assembly? And when the refunds will commence?
100% of shipping is refunded, 25% of assembly ($95 * .25 = $23.75/board) is refunded. The extra parts (anything you paid over $95 for kits/fully assembled miners, i.e. fans, standoffs, usb cables, etc.) are being held until something is figured out. If other next-gen boards can use them, that will be offered, if not, they can be shipped to you. These refunds come from SB requesting a refund for one of his batches. I hope more people request refunds, which will shift the focus sooner than later from the K16s to refunds and next-gen projects. I'm keeping my credit for two assembled boards on hold for now until I hear more about Steamboat's plans. I believe steamboat alluded that those interested in his next venture could apply the assembly straight to that and just pay the difference, if any, between this gen and next gen boards. Did I read that wrong? You might be right, if that's the case I think many would want to do the same thing, myself included. Those details are unclear at this point, but hopefully SB will clear them up shortly. Yes, that'd be nice. There is no point in buying gen1 asics, but I'm hoping someone will figure out a way to make the K16 fully functional (and then plug in gen2 asics). I would like to know what's SB's POV on buying gen2 asics from Avalon... (I can't say I'm much thrilled at the idea, but as was discussed in the K thread, it'd be a shame/silly to let this effort go to waste).

Makes me angry that Avalon still have guaranteed business because of it.

An email was sent out to all purchasers with info on how to request a chip refund. If you did not receive that email, you might consider emailing Steamboat to get added to the mailing list, and to have him send you the original email. I somehow wasn't on the mailing list at first. To get added, I sent SB an email that was signed with my purchase bitcoin address, asking to be added to the list. You might want to make it clear on the subject line what you're requesting, and that it's time sensitive.

"Chip shipment: Yifu has stated he shipped the first batch on Monday. We are currently awaiting a tracking number. He has also stated the second batch should ship today or tomorrow."
Whether or not Yifu shipped them you should update. I'll hold my tongue on the rest.

The lack of info really is downright nuts at this point. Still have no clue what will become of my components+assembly+hosting that are sitting somewhere down in Florida.

I'm fine as long as the wait is proportional to the news. I figure steamboat doesn't want to be left with a warehouse full of parts and nothing to make with them, so I'm hoping he's working on something big. Steamboat, just realize that you have more info than us, so it's easy for you to go without an update. People like me are completely blind to what is going on and we are completely at your mercy at this point. Twitter is perfect for this kind of stuff. 140 characters, once a day. Easy peasy.
"Still working hard guys. Thanks for your patience."
"Nothing new today, sorry to keep you waiting."
"Things may be looking up, more info to come soon."
"Last thing fell through, going another route."
"Waiting on info from third parties, hopefully things are shaping up."
"You guys are great; thanks for hanging in there."
"No word today. Hopefully good news later this week."
That was one week's worth of theoretical updates. I timed myself; to come up with them and type them took me 1 minute and 49 seconds. That's 15.57 seconds per update.
Someone please explain how 16 seconds is too much time to post something.

...and you can even make them *in advance*, cut&paste day by day, voilà! I'm sure there must be some random gibberish generator somewhere that can spill no-content stuff like that at the click of a button (don't even have to type it!). And that would be sooo soothing. Useless. But soothing.

I wouldn't say useless. Keeping your customers up to date builds rapport. That's useful if you want repeat business.

Steamboat please take this advice, small updates are better than no updates or a biweekly update.

I meant the soothing gibberish. That's not keeping the customer informed, that's just delaying the complaining as much as possible (until the issue is resolved or you run for the hills). I think SB should try to stick to a regular weekly update at least. He's working on things, he should let us know (setup a newsletter on the LSD site?).

The fact remains that I've paid 3.4275BTC for a product and have received nothing. This may not be a large figure to some but it is to me. I started with 1 GPU and mined enough coins to be able to secure myself an ASIC.
There were plenty of posts and emails when the cash was flowing in, now I can't get a reply to several emails or PMs at all.
Refunds were offered and I took up the offer, over 2 weeks ago. People who have put in a refund request after me have received refunds.
A lot of people have publically backed Steamboat but frankly in my eyes Liquid Synergy Designs is no different to Butterfly Labs or BitSynCom.
If anyone has direct contact information for Liquid Synergy Designs please contact me. I have an invoice for goods and services that I have not received.
I'm tired of sitting around and wondering day by day if I'll get anything at all out of this group buy, other than frustration and disappointment.
