So in order for me to get my merit up I have to wait until others give the smerit to me or at least hope that other memeber want to share some merit??? I'm lost.
Yes, you would have to attain 250 sMerits from other users for you to progress to hero member rank, users are most likely to give merit to the posts which are more constructive, useful and helpful to the community, maybe you can start working towards that direction. Merits was deserves to the users who give knowledgeable information, but it not means that all people who gives suggestion or opinion are deserves to earned merit. Because sometimes their opinion is so shitty and not realistic. They were trying to makes false information to have a topic. I truly appreciate the merits system because now all users are equally. Because on the previous even users who have lack in quality they were reach the higher ranked even their post is nonsense and totally not helpful to others. Yes I agree with that, but if you see the link below you can see that there's a lot of people are exchanging of merit to easily increase it up. Moreover they want to ranked up so easy that's why they do this. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2823221.0

Ok, we were all enthusiastic about merit and how it works,etc...in the first week, but until now the first topics in meta are still about merit system! @admins or global mods 1- make this topic sticky 2- merge the other topics in this one? Or delete it. 3- same thing should apply in different english sections 4- thx...

the merit system is a very good idea (and i wrote a post about it https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2903742.msg29858621#msg29858621) but there is some problem. I am lazy when i want to send merit to others it must open a new window and load the page and i check the form and so on; this is very time spending process, even I try to do that but sometimes is difficult. so I have a suggestion: please design only a ajax interactive merit bottom to prevent opening new window. if you wan i can help you to do this

You might want to try out the Enhanced merit UI [1.1]

Nope his/her merit is still their but his/her Smerit (sendeable merit) will deducted once he/she give on others. only high ranking member can send me merit? or im all wrong?
Nope , even you , you can send merit to others once you have a Smerit (sendeable merit) Smerit = merit sent by others / 2

I agree to this, if this official post was sticky, we would have seen of new threads on merit system. If this is done even now, we can prevent mega section from getting cluttered with posts repeating same issue.

I still can't understand of this rules You don't get sMerit automatically (for example each month). You only get sMerit, if you receive Merit from another user (each Merit you receive gives you 0.5 sMerit). If you want additional sMerit to spend, you need to get merit from other users.

So there's a limited and decreasing amount of merits? Am I getting it right? Why on Earth would anybody share some limited asset?
So if I want merits, I should "hunt" the users with sMerits and try to make them like me and my posts?

There are also some Merit sources (special members selcted by Theymos) that receive sMerit "out of nithing" to distribute them to other members. But nobody knows who they are and how much they get. (Again this is also explained in the linked inforgraphics in the first post....)

How are you going to make them like your posts ? If you are active here with good quality posts, you need not force anyone for merits. The major portion of merit points will come from merit sources and this is the reason that their identity is not revealed.

Nah, only sMerits are limited and decreasing, but still if you send 2 merits to a single member, that member would get 2merits plus 1 sMerit to give it to others. So if you do want merits, dont hunt others, post normally, casually and on point. It must be constructive and quality to the point when someone read it he/she might want to click the merit+ button.

sMerits (the ones that you send) are worthless to you. Sending them doesn't deprive you of anything. If you want merits the last thing you want to do is try to "make" someone like your posts. That's likely to backfire.

I've studied the "merit" matter... so, in order to get some merit I should be very lucky! because I should write in a thread where someone who already have merit see my post and give me merit.. That's very difficult to get merit, isn't it?

If i would have 100 merit, and 50 smerit, then i will find someone with 100 merit and 50 smerit, we can then proceed to exchange between ourself and end up with roughly 200 merit each? You see, i will send him 50, he will now have 150 total and 75 spendable, he will send this to me, i will have 175 totall and 37,5 spendable... We could then do this again and again and the, end up with roughly 200 merit each and 0 sMerit. Am i right?

Yeah, they're not exactly being handed out like candy at the moment.. Am sure some people will direct me to look at some people's profiles where they have tons of merit or to the entire merit list or something, but given the size of the fora they still comes across as more of an anomaly(s) than the norm. Am not complaining, just trying to be objective.. and have concluded that they are indeed rare and not all that easy to come by. This is so far.. and may change in the future

Technically - yes. But if someone sees that - and with merit logs being public that's quite likely - you and your friend will get neg trust to go with your 200 merits.
