Nice try but you should have joined the art contest in the joy of the 10th year anniversary. There were many newbies who where given ample merits to rank up.

My two cents:
- There is no joy to help shitposters rank up (I don't say you are shitposter, I just say about the general fact) so no one will help you a single merit for that post. It takes the forum (with merit system, rank requirements and community help) about two years to gradually wipe out shitposters. There is no joy to help shitposters growing again.
- Two years ago, I began as a newbie like you, and now I am on my way to the Legendary rank.
You can do it, if:
- Don't beg for merits
- Learn, improve, and contribute to the forum, community in right way.

Follow the highlighted parts:

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

Yes, you can but you can not move any far from newbie by buying merits and there are risks of paited Red.

This is what baffles me..you registered on this forum almost year and a half ago, and  yet never really bothered to read pinned messages, guides, FAQs etc.

How can someone be part of some community, and never be at least  a bit curious to see what is going on the forum? It's more of a rhetorical question really, answer is obvious when i see your post history.

Yes, you can become a junior member but your account will be next to useless. It will be red-tagged and you won't be able to use it in most bounty campaigns. It's like paying for nothing. Do you want that kind of risk?

This is no news although you're advice to avoid patronizing such act because if caught, you'll lose but your funds (to the merit seller) and probably get demerited (lose your merit). Try carrying out some personal investigate to get the culprits behind the merit selling and report to the forum and they might just get punished, as this act is currently been frowned at.

Merit are might to serve as a motivation to the user been merited, an indication of quality, which is gained and not some privilege you can buy off the internet.

As far as I know the only limit is 50 merits to a single user over the last 30 days.
For the rest sky (your total received merits/2+ merit source allowance) is the limit!
