I'm also having difficulty accessing deepbit webpage or mining since ~2am. Restarting router doesn't help.
What's weird - pinging works ok.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Just to put it into perspective:
At 1262 GH/s, average time for finding a block is 24.66 minutes, which is about 1780 blocks per month, or 89k BTC per month.
If everyone used proportional at 3% (the old rate), he's making 2670 BTC per month.
If everyone used PPS at 10% (heard that somewhere, not sure of the exact rate), he's making 8900 BTC per month.
That translates to 23k/77k (somewhere between there, since not everyone uses proportional) per month.
Subtract some utility fees.
Untaxed.

Who needs a job with an income like that?

Curious where you're getting UNTAXED from.  Surely you mean BEFORE taxes.  Unless Tycho is in a country with no income tax, he's going to owe on that money.  Once you convert BTC to cash, you have real, recognized income.  I know it defeats the whole anti-government branch of the bitcoin userbase, but tax evasion can carry serious consequences.

Also, his 3% fee is partially used up paying users when there is an invalid block (so he keeps about 2% of the fee assuming ~1% invalid rate).

I'm stuck somewhere where I cannot access any ports outside of 80, 443, 8080.. I may proxy through my house but before I do I wanted to ask if deepbit has alternate port support on a common HTTP(S) port?

Some users are still experiencing those connections problems.
I'm aware or this problem and taking appropriate actions. I'll post a special notice when it will be fixed.

I think that the problem comes from the server's name:

23   190 ms   190 ms   190 ms  . [72.8.190.23]

This "." might be difficult to resolve or it just gets filtered by some networks as invalid host name.

[Tycho] can you answer my question please? It's been like 2 hours now  Angry
Which address should you use for connecting your miners?
This thread & your help section on the site show conflicting address's.
Use pit.deepbit.net for mining and deepbit.net for website.
There is no difference yet, i'll make some changes when everyone will switch to pit.deepbit.net

No, it's not that.
As I said, I know what the problem is and I'm working on it.

Hello-

Fairly generic question.

I constantly am running around 750M/H

I am sure there is a simple explanation for this but, how come when i view my account it usually says my average is significantly lower (589 M/H) or significantly higher (up to 818M/H), why is this?

Thank you so much for the time.

I dont like the guy. How many reasons do I have? alot.
How many reasons do I need? none.
I just dont like the guy.

It is an estimate based on the shares you submit over the time you configured.
Nothing to worry about.

Btw, had again my 'router lockup'. This time I could ping deepbit, but browser or miner couldn't reach it.

Solved by restarting of router. If U still have connection issues and U dont want to switch pool just try to restart router ( not reconnect ) . That should help for a while.

http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/deepbit.net says deepbit is online.

However, I actually can't reach deepbit.net, too. It seems like Tycho knows the reason and is working on it. I've switched to Eligius for now. Smiley

How many of you are having your mined bitcoins stolen?

I've changed my passwords on everything.. email and deepbit account and even have email confirmation for changing the receiving address yet as soon as I change it to my own address i'll get another confirm email changing it to something else that I did not input.

What is the deal here?

Do you have any trojans or viruses on your PC ?

Also, PM me your login name, i'll take a look at my logs.

the only request i could ask for would be the info of solved blocks, as in, how many my miners have found, not that i found any but would be nice to know if i did.  Grin
It's hidden at the very bottom of your advanced settings page.

so it is, thank you.

My workers are on friends' machines in a distant timezone, so they're all asleep and I can't check on the client's status. I can access my account at deepbit.net, but it has shown 0 MH/s and no shares since 6/1, 11:09pm GMT. It's unlikely all my friends turned off their programs simultaneously, so is this the website being slow to update, the mining server being down, or do they just need to restart poclbm to get it moving again?

If it's a matter of restarting, is there some way to have the program reconnect automatically so I don't have to rely on a bunch of people each doing it manually? Thanks very much...
