Parameters to make Antminer S1 profitable?
BTC @ 800
Diff Avg 15%

Not so fast. Breakeven in three months with price at current BTC with 0.05 btc coupon, but for purposes of calculation BTC at $460, electricity at 0.12, S1 slightly overclocked at 375mhz to 192GH/s and monthly difficulty increase of 45% (was 31% in the last 30 days).
https://tradeblock.com/mining/a/0c6ff8a6d1

That said, i can't get any more of them  Sad. Too much heat for summer months.

My opinion higher BTC will also make the S1 to rise,  in my opinion S1 still the best buy in the market by far.

It's a great language. And if it's insecure as you say then a great many big corporates are all 'at risk'. 4 billion devices on the planet use java. Skill up Smiley

Java may or may not be a "great language" but java coders suck. Java breeds lazy coders which makes for software full of bugs. Yes, a great many big corporation are at risk because they have to run old and vulnerable JRE on the client and server in order to support software that the java coder couldn't manage to make work correctly with the latest release of the JRE. Java and Adobe products are constantly battling for which is the biggest vulnerability.

I just bought two more of these locally in cash (200€ each). I'm just a little worried on when will these become so low hashrate that it's not profitable to mine with these anymore.

I wish it was November now so that I could still justify running my farm as a source of heat. If BTC fiat values continue their downwards crawl as the thermometer rises outside I am going to have trouble with AC added costs.

Anyone know if something is up with bitmain's web site?  It won't let me login and I am %100 certain I have the correct password.

I did a rest but it should not have been necessary.

I only have a signature because I'm allowed.

Awesome stuff...
just one comment...It probably depends on a miner, but for 375 mhz setting for my miners, timeout of '38' worked much better then '37', all other things being equal.

3 more antminer S1 units came in today - 4.5TH Smiley

https://i.imgur.com/iPQxGKH.jpg

however, 1 unit arrived with a lot of thermal paste leakage, and another took damage to the capacitor (see pic below).

Nice setup, can you advice whats you using on side of S1? is it wooden board or plexi glass ?

a few units i cut out some thin cardboard (the type for frozen pizza boxes) in the right shape to  fit well on the gap of the antminer and try to improve the airflow going through the entire length. It works, but I really want to make myself some exact measurements and make more of them properly using thicker cardboard or even some very thin plywood/plastic that will be less flimsy.

the satck of 3 units just has a big box lid pressed against it, held in place by the power supplies. it does a nice job at getting the temperatures down slightly. I plan to add to these stacks a little bit soon once i figure out some more power supplies that use PCIe cables (since when stacked the screw terminals are inaccessible)

Thanks for posting this. My business partner and I have been dealing with some heat issues on our setup (26 S1's in a dual-zone shed), and with the Texas heat coming we're looking for additional ways to cut down on the heat these things pull down. Hadn't thought about adding barriers around the stacks.
