Happy 8/8 guys!

And for the record, i do think that no news is good news. I'd rather not have well-worded summaries of what's "yet to come" with octo from the devs every week or so, as they just end up piling up. They'll get back to us when they have a finished product, and that doesn't always coincide with holidays like today.

Nice pic!

I agree. I'm not one that wants constant updates. I wish they were a little more consistent.

You also have to be careful not to have the perception of vaporware. Not that I would think that Octo is but you have quite a few people posting here lately that need that assurance.

There's still plenty of 8/8 hours left. Maybe we will still get lucky and get an update, or even better, the release of an app!

Alas we pass another day with future untold, but to help, here's a video I made at work (very short, probably should have made it a tad longer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nV9sNXdjG14

As you can see compared to last time, the design actually looks good Wink pretty happy how this one turned out overall. It still has issues, and further refinement needs to happen to the power levels on the machine to get exactly the etch we are looking for.

Just waiting for a bit of sun to take a nice photo of the current prototype.

One would think the DEVs would at least stop by and say something.

I would expect that once some bits have been released, the pressure relief on their backs will mean they have a little more time to entertain us. Hopefully that will be soon, the wait is long tho.

The devs should at least show them selves just show respect to the best community in crypto.

No comment.  Don't want to say what I'm trying not to think.  Cry

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time.  Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.

An update of some sort would be nice. I'm so HEAVILY invested though it doesn't even matter. If the devs lost interest I couldn't sell my bag anyways, so I'll just keep buying. Why the hell not?  Grin

Have you guys thought about targeting china?  The number 8 is one of their luckiest and favorite numbers.  They intentionally pay more for something just to have the number 8 in it.  Sounds crazy but this could be an advantage for such a coin as this.

Good luck!

We've got a new etched glass to show you, and we've uploaded a picture of the first blown glass prototype to Twitter. Follow us @BeardedCouncil Neither glass matches our vision but if we've got photos we may as well share them :-)

Yeah there was quite a bit of speculation about the number 8's association with China when this coin launched. Specially when you talk about the gaming aspect because they consider the number 8 so lucky.

We'll see what the correlation is, if any, soon.

@Octocoin Dev(s)

Seriously, no activity from you for over 2 weeks after dangling the carrot of big things coming before August 1st?

We all get that you're busy, have other priorities and paymasters, that OctoCoin itself is only a small part of your plans. etc. etc.

Many of us have hung around here since day 1 because we believed in your vision and your ability to deliver but to be honest we've not really seen much evidence of that other than an excellently managed hard fork, a nice looking wallet and a new teaser web-site.  All good things that some coins never manage in their short lifetimes, all very nice, all very professional but that's it.

Meanwhile the market for OctoCoin is decimated, if I were to hit the top two buy orders now with what I have on hand at Bittrex there would be just 0.3 BTC in low value buy orders!

Don't get me wrong, you don't "owe" us anything, most of us (in this thread at least) are adults and can take it on the chin but don't you think it would be at least courteous to tell us where you're at and whether you truly believe there is still a viable project for us to maintain faith in or whether you tried valiantly but failed to pull it off.

If the answer is that we should all just walk away now then so be it, I for one don't bear a grudge, the ride was fun while it lasted.  I know that by definition making this appeal to you for information is "FUD" but that's not my intention, I guess I'm just looking for closure.

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time.  Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.

You are so right SquidsIn. I have abandoned Octo long ago because of the failing development. But i check into this thread from time to time and it is very sad that the dev´s did not hold their promises. I´m sorry for everybody who has lost money with this, but there are far better coins out there - with dev´s who deliver.

To be fair to the Dev's Their primary time frame for launch releases was by the end of August. (Remember the quarters conversation?)

They've dangled a few things but not yet delivered, but this by no means suggests they aren't planning on delivering. It's unknown as to whether or not they have read this forum since their last login, so try to remember that just because forum posts/pleas go unanswered doesn't mean we're being ignored.

Theoretical example 1: The devs wanted to get an App to us August 1st, development wasn't ready so they had to postpone the big reveal. This then clashed with their pre-booked family holiday(s) so they are away now, They'll get back in a few days to try and polish their offerings to find we've all gone stir crazy waiting for news.

As Shellbunner pointed out, We are (most of us forum posters at least) committed to 888 like it or not so it's worth remembering while the Devs may not be here reading this (go on, prove me wrong ;-) ) Joe Public certainly is and if we FUD ourselves how else is anyone else going to view Octo?

Let's remember the potential, the small Dev team who have an outside life, the fact that waiting is what we're good at after all this practice and that one day soontm we'll be laughing at our own little wobble.

On the plus side 888 are currently quite cheap so you could get a bargain on an OctoGlass :-)

It definitely does mean we are being ignored, at least for now.  But, I take your point.

I'm about to go on a 2 week family holiday myself but i'll no doubt be reading and posting in forums, I'll also be working from time to time despite being somewhere with patchy internet service.  If something is important to me I can't just switch off and forget about it (though maybe life would be a lot more relaxed if I could!).  If the OctoCoin project has a real cash investor(s) as suggested you can bet they'll be constantly demanding and getting progress updates whereas we ask politely but hardly get any.  Of course that's the dev's prerogative but it does suggest the coin side of things is the least important part of their plans especially without any real indication as to how it integrates into the bigger picture in a way that any other coin couldn't.

Being a complete control freak, a coin with an enigmatic dev team is probably the worst thing I could have picked to get so heavily invested in.  Embarrassed

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time.  Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.
