Today's 3rd Test match between the two teams has started. Australia now comes out to bat. Scored 147 runs in 38.1 overs. So far Australia has lost 4 strong wickets. Australia batsman David Warner is out for 4 runs off 5 balls. David Warner is batting.  Poor performance. Usman Khawaja is out for 13 runs in 37 balls. Marnus Labuschagne is out for 21 runs in 58 balls. Australia team's 4 strong batsmen are batting very poorly. Australia is under a lot of pressure in batting now. England bowling line is a lot.  Started performing well.

Australia was in trouble. At one point, they were 85/4. But now Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head are treating the England bowlers like the latter are from some fifth-tier associate nation. Mark Wood and Stuart Broad were so impressive earlier. But all of a sudden they lost their venom and started leaking runs. Ollie Robinson and Chris Woakes are being very ordinary. And the less we talk about Moeen Ali that better.
Edit: finally Chris Woakes managed to get the wicket of Mitchell Marsh.

Mitchell Marsh have played like an ODI scoring 118 runs from 118 balls. Following him Travis Head have lost his wicket at 39 runs. That was really a needed partnership, Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh did it well. 100 runs partnership when there is continuous wicket fall adds more strength to the team. Now the score have reached 245/6 which is quite good compared to 85/4. Probably the innings of Australia could end within 300 runs. England have good chance of taking advantage of the match and lets see what happens.

Overall I think England has the upper hand in this match.  They have managed to take 9 wickets and restricted Australia to 254 runs. If they are able to bowl them out under 280 runs it will be a big achievement and a good start to this must win test match for them.
The Australian batting line completely crashed in this match. If Mitchell Marsh didn't make that quick 118 runs, Australia would have been struggling badly. Mark Wood took 4 wickets and stand out among the bowlers. Remember England have to win this  Leeds test, in order to stay in the Ashes.

Australia team collected only 263 runs. My guess was they would collect at least 350. 263 runs can be considered as a very low score. However, since the performance of England's batsmen is not consistent, so if the Australian bowlers are able to bowl under control, the England team may not be able to score very big. But it seems England's batsmen will be able to bat responsibly. And they can take a lead of at least 100 runs. After losing two matches I want to see England win the third match.

Australian lineup were totally exposed badly, I think england were really anger on previous match results and that why they grab hardly Australian lineup from start of the match, from top to bottom no batter has make any difference in total Scoreboard rather then the new change M.Marsh who perform rightly with a spectacular century at right time and help his team to safe from embarrassment, while from england side bowlers were really on fire M.wood took 5 important wicket while woakes and broad took 3 , 2 respectively.
Now england has a opportunity to take his revenge by scoring some decent big target trough which the put opponent side in big  big trouble....

They should seize the moment and go for the kill, which they didn't do in previous matches. Aussie desperately needs a good partnership, not sure how did Marsh get into this mix?

If they continue to do the same match would come into their hands, but here things have changed as Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head have stood wicket and reached their 50 runs partnership as score have reached 136/4. England need to break partnership at the earliest, if not we can expect them to lead the innings.

After the break, Australia was absolutely miserable. We saw Australia losing the fifth wicket at the 240 score. After that Australia only was able to score 23 more. So basically Australia lost six wickets trying to get the last 23 runs. I don’t understand why no one else was not able to perform well on the same track where Mitchell Marsh was playing like one-day internationals.

England started the innings and they also have lost two wickets for only 24 runs. This also happened in only six overs.

Finally Team Australia was all out for 263 runs. It can be said that because of England's efficient bowling, Australia has been bowled out.  But Australia started their bowling very well due to which England lost three consecutive wickets in the beginning. It can be said that the target of 263 runs given by Australia cannot be considered small for England. That's because Australia is bowling brilliantly. Australia will definitely want to restrict them to less runs, let's see which way the match turns in the end. As the game of cricket is a game of uncertainty, it cannot be said which team will be ahead till the end of the match.

The main reason for England's defeat in the previous match was the poor batting of the top order in the second innings. And the performance of their top order in today's match too. Australia mustered only 263 runs in their first innings. England had very good chances to easily take a lead of at least 100-150 runs. But they stumbled in the beginning. They lost the first three batsmen of the top order in just 19 overs. And if this performance of England's batsmen continues in the first session tomorrow, then they will not be able to collect even 200 runs. I'm getting really fed up with England's performance lately.

Things are not looking good for England as well. England has actually found it to be very hard to score as well. They have only scored 68 so far and they have also lost three wickets. That is not ideal for them. It will be great for them if they are actually able to get any kind of lead. Because I can only imagine how the next day first session is going to be. If England actually wants to get a lead, that will have to survive the first 5 to 10 overs of the first session of the next day. And the way this track is behaving, good luck with that. I am not saying it's impossible. But for England to get a lead, Joe Root will have to stay there and preferably score at least a century. And he will also need some help from the other teammates.

The problem for Australia is that they were not able to perform consistently. They had 2/3 individual scores that we can talk about. But other than that they do not have much to talk about from the first innings. The latter part of the innings for Australia was absolutely a disaster. Australia is probably not going to be able to restrict England before they get a lead. Or at least that's what I thought at first. But now it feels like England is not going to be able to get a lead. England has also not started well. I am not going to be surprised in England does face something similar like Australia towards the later part of the innings. It will also be hard for England to start well on the next day.

A huge loss for England losing three wickets for 68 runs. Because in Test matches the only goal in the game is to save wickets where they have fallen by 20 three wickets. Duckett and Harry Brook's two wickets fell and Australia improved greatly. Because the fall of wickets in Test matches means the origin of team dispersal. If England's wicket continues to fall like this, it will definitely not be able to give Australia any run lead at the last minute. So England must have a good conference, and if you want to say Australia is ahead of England in terms of bowling performance.

Does anyone know when Mark Wood recovered from the injury he suffered during the IPL? He played his last match for the Lucknow Super Giants on 15th April and could not take part anymore in the IPL due to the injury. In the first 4 matches, he had picked up 11 wickets. And I guess he was injured at the time of the first two test matches. He is the best bowler for England at this point. But the fact that he gets injured so often should be a concern for them. Already they lost one of their best bowlers (Jofra Archer) to injury.

Australia's 1st innings batting and England's 1st innings batting seem to have been curated by the bowling alley wickets. Because it is very difficult for the batsmen to deal with fast bowlers.

England have scored 68 runs for 3 wickets. England are now 195 runs behind Australia. England have a big chance to win this match. Probably, they tried not to be too defensive. All of them give catches to the keeper, first slip and second slip. Australia set three slip fielders, and fast bowlers were trying to bowl outside off-stamp, and England batters fell in their trap. In a test match, you don't have to play every ball. If you see a good ball, respect it and leave it when it's outside off-stamp. Especially when there are three slips set for you. All three catches were outside edge. Don't those batters understand why they set three slip fielders?

Mark Wood is someone who can bowl at speeds of up to 97 mph. And this makes him the fastest bowler in international cricket right now (Second would be Chris Sole of Scotland, who bowled at 94 mph during the world cup qualifiers). If England manages him well and keeps his workload at affordable levels, then for the next 2-3 years they can weaponize him to their own benefit. My main concern is with injury. Three months back he got injured and missed most of the IPL. If he gets injured again, then that would mean the end of his international career.

Looks like a pretty even test at the end of day one. It's great to see Australia managing to get three wickets down. Catches win matches, while the English batters made some costly errors and lost their wickets. England have short batting line-up, so it's going to be quite an interesting test match. Personally, I don't think we'll see it going all the way to day five. Now, the first hour of play today will be crucial.
