Barcelona = Messi, I wonder what Barcelona would be like without Messi? I think it would be a very strange team.

I am also a Real Madrid fan but I never see that Barcelona is only about Messi. Even he has contributed much in all matches, it doesn't mean Barcelona can win only with Messi. Football played with 11 players, even if the strikers are the number 1 in the world but if they have bad defenders or midfielders, then they can do nothing. Please give respect to all players and the coach, they have an important role as well.

No one underestimated Barcelona players but they are partially hidden by Messi' shadow. He is a good player and no one could say otherwise. Other Barca players are good too but the whole team is used to a certain way of playing based on him. If he isn't in his full performance the team will struggle to win which isn't normal and shouldn't be.
Without him, I doubt the actual Barca can fight for the first place if not a CL spot. Barca has many "old" key players, their performance will drop every couple of months significantly so better for them to find a way to fix this or else middle table will welcome them

Well extending the contract there doesn't mean he can't move to Barcelona right?

It could be part of the business thing where Barcelona have to pay more to al sadd in order to make this happen.
I have read that news tho, I'm just thinking xavi will be there anyway.

Sevilla - Eibar was quite boring game, but what a a end there was. Sevilla goalkeeper Vaclik got injury and they were out of subs. So, Ocampos replaced him. And one 101 minute of game he saved shot made by Eibar goalkeeper Dmitrovic. And moment later Sevilla defender kicked ball almost from goal line.
After this Sevilla win, I think we already know all 4 teams which will play in Champions league.

Agree. 4 more games so Sevilla need 2 more wins, Atletico a win and a draw to confirm CL places. And that is asking Villareal/Getafe to win all their remaining games too, so yeah, I think we're safe and home. Granada will hope to steal a Europa spot after their early season heroics but I think they'll fall short.

I think they would make another mistake with Xavi - they took Guardiola from their ranks and now they think it will work every time. Villanova and Enrique did not really work out, Xavi is coaching in Qatar. If he was any good, he'd have gotten a better job.

Barcelona needs a proper manager, an established name. They have been trying with unproven managers for way too long.

@kawetsriyanto if you have been following Barcelona for a while then you should know it by now, that it has and always will be about Messi at least till he’s there, and the sad part is that everyone has become so dependent on him that they have forgotten even they can win matches without him. Furthermore I know you’ll yet not be convinced why Barcelona is all about Messi, and hence I’m leaving some links where stats can be seen which proves that this team is all about Messi.

With Pep Guardiola's coaching the best manager for Barcelona at this time after the change in my opinion there is nothing impressive in any trophy and at the end there is always a feud between players and coaches maybe that can make a mental down to the players.
If Xavi is right then I'm sure Barcelona will take him as manager but I don't know yet about the strategy Xavi has done if it will become Barcelona's coach maybe he already knows how to revive the old game again.

I don't agree that Villanova and Enrique didn't really work out. I just remind that under Villanova Barca collected 100 points in La Liga and won it by 15 points. Unfortunately, his health problems didn't let him to contine his work.
And Enrique repeated what Guardiola did - won every possible trophy in one year. What else you can require from manager.
But in general I agree, I would like to see something more solid than Valverde, Setien or Tata Martino.

I think they have their own tradition of picking coaches. They prefer getting coaches that they think will preserve their system of play. That's why you won't see them bid for free coaches like Pochettino because once a manager like him joins Barça, Their football identity will die there and then.
So Xavi being considered to be the next coach is in line with him being a great former player of the club who knows the club's system and their identity.

Very tight of course with only a few games left but I wonder what the odds are for that to happen would probably put a few dollars on Villareal or Getafe to go up if someone cracks under pressure.

Or when he did the same with Argentina national team in World cup 1986?

Maradona is cool but it is not relevant to compare different cool players in different era. The era of Pele, Maradona is too far and in such era, football is less tactic-affected and less tightened in term of tactics like what football is in the current era.

Messi and Ronaldo (Portugese) are cool too but to say they have never reached the levels of legends like Pele or Maradona, it is not correct. I wonder that Pele or Maradona will be able to easily to bring their all teams to World Cups or Euroes. I don't know, TBH.

Let's enjoy the very last seasons of Messi and Ronaldo. After them, you won't have see too many players like that, or never in your lifetime.

i would love to see Villareal back in the Champions League  would rather see Sevilla in a competition they know pretty well: europa league

three games today, but i'll add only one to a parlay: Barca - Espanyol O2.5 goals @1.45. Considering that Barcelona's true potential was unleashed in that 4-1 win versus a Villareal in great form, and this a great chance to put some pressure on Real madrid, i can see messi & co using the Camp Nou as a traning ground with Espanyol as cones =P

Today if Villareal won against Getafe then they have very few chances to reach Champions League because Atletico is already in good position and Sevilla and Villareal have some tough task to do for this and after today
