Now I have mixed feelings about Messi. as fan of Barca, yes, Im happy that he will stay in Barcelona for one more year. But he wanted to leave already, but he was forced to stay - Messi simply had no choice - stay or go to court against his club. For me it's incredible that Bartomeu & co is still in charge. I think it will be diffcult year for Messi when his relationships with current board is so complicated.

I guess there are two possibilities: First, Barca keeps struggeling under the new coach, falls back behind Real in the league and also gets kicked out early in the Champions League. Then I am pretty sure Messi will be pissed and will leave next year to get a shitload of money as signing fee from City, PSG etc. Or Koeman manages to bring Barca back on track and they show attractive and successful football again. Messi sees a perspective for him at Barca again and renews his contract to get a shitload of money.

Nothing is sure other than Messi getting a ton of money whatever he does next season.

The amazing goal Messi scored against Napoli is the best evidence that shows how he loves the club and how he usually tries his best on field. Napoli defenders thought Messi stopped and waited for a freekick but he kept going and scoring that goal. If you watch the video again, you can see how dissapointed Manolas shown on his face after the conceded goal. In that goal, Manolas is the one who realized Messi want to score but he reacted too late and Messi has perfect shot.

I believed in what Messi said. He does love the club and he wanted to have a happy ending before the defeat. Yes, he does not feel happy in Barcelona in some seasons, not only in the last one.

I only remember that Messi still wanted to play for his old club at the end of his career. But I doubt that wish will come true.

As a player of one of the biggest club in Spain and also hold the status of a mega star at the club, Messi must respect his contract and must play professionally. I dont think anything will change about him despite the change in the squad.

Said so much about this guy and I think I have come to a point where I no longer expect or ask the poor man to do anything other than what he wants to, and what he can. Sometimes none of these things can overlap not for us normal people and not even for a man whose shoulders have held up an entire nation and club.

Poor messi , he is so plain and Barcelona as a club who has a lot of merit given by him choose to dump messi , they are indeed in need money after the pandemic hit their financial condition, still he deserve more than just get dumped.
I'm not sure things in/outside the field will get back to normal for him , he is indeed have to be professional but Im sure there will be a bold difference for messi to play for one more season at Barcelona. Barcelona could easily grant messi request but the club refused to do that.

Exactly, I think he will not be determined nor enthusiastic enough to play a good game. Maybe we can expect him to pass the ball to other players and have these other players do the scoring. He may even care less if the team scores or not, he might just want every game to end and let the days pass. Until he is able to leave the team without any consequences. I would imaging a Messi playing for another team and hoping the same team as Ronaldo.

Why do you think Messi is in a losing situation? Only because he has to stay another season at Barca? It is Barca that looks unsympathetic after all this drama. After all these years and all that Messi has done for this club, did they really have to force him to stay, no matter what?
