Only newbies check the calculators. True miners don't give a f*** about ROI. Everyone and their mother had complaints about ROI going in the fall of 2013. Then boom, they all jumped on the bandwagon when BTC went over $1000. I am now hearing people talking again about ROI. Soon there will be another boom Yep, just buy BTC like clockwork, then use some %% (I would say 10-15%, but it is different for each person) of that BTC to buy miners, get more BTC. The best of both worlds.

on topic comment: Spondoolies customers care about ROI. I can tell from reading their thread.

Well I never, a turkey votes for xmas to come early.
It is already Easter. 51% or more owned by Bitfury... we are all at risk. Unless you can get hash power in the hands of millions asap then the only hope to spread the network would be China and a variety of fabricators and massive mining farms. How SPTech reacts moving into 2015 will be important if diversity actually happens. "YingFei still takes time playing the role of a miner by managing Bitmain's own 3000 kilowatt solo mine."Psst... SPTech doesn't have a 3000 kilowatt farm. That above is just 1 player in China and 1 mine, there are plenty of others chomping at the bit to get their mines up and powered with the most efficient chips. China is a very competitive playing field within their borders so diversity there, at least for the short term into 2015 is the best option for Bitcoin. I don't think BitFury is trying to kill Bitcoin but they do need the competition.

how do you know if your SP10 has slow corner or not?
If you bought a May batch its slow corner i happen to have a pre-May SP10 and 2 x May SP10s. Pic on left is pre-May (gaederopus) and pic on right is slow May batch (princeps). Although, it should be noted that i have the SP10 s hosted in very different locations and it's not the best situation to compare as one unit (gaederopus) has a bank of 8 chips down. but you'll get the idea. Left is gaederopus (pre-May) hashing at 1.47Ths. Right is princeps (May slow) hashing at 1.43Ths Left is gaederopus (pre-May) with DCR = 0x0. Right is princeps (May slow) with some DCR = 0x2 Cheers, QG

Just tried the 1.4.8 firmware for last 24 hours and changed it back to 1.3.49 around 100 Ghs more at miner 50 Ghs at pool I prolly have the may slow corner unit it hashes at 1.41 Ths with 1.3.49 firmware. Is there anything I could do about it to make it hash 1.5. Unit is in colo temps are at 25 front and 68 back.

You can always adjust the fan speed to 90%, as you might be able to squeeze a few more GH out of it with more airflow. What is your power usage (on the ASIC stats page)?

The latest firmware is always the best. There is usually no reason not to upgrade.
Just follow the overclocking instructions on the technical blog of spondoolies.
Also, you will only get such high hashrates at 208V and above (Don´t plug it into a socket above 240V obviously....)

Thanks. I have the latest firmware. And recommended settings. Does not work good for me. Would like to see what settings give QG his nice 1,47 or 1,43. Obviously I have both types of batches, my "slows" run at ~1400, "fasts" at ~1430.

Have you set PSU limit to 1260 and fans to 90? Are you running on a 208V or 240V circuit? If you can post your asic stats page we might know more.

For anyone new to get into this game they'll need a lot of funding and it's difficult to see how they could get it. I think that miners are stuck with what they've got, ie their competitors selling them machines, making large profits on said then using the profit to build more of their own capacity. Its not difficult to see what the end result is going to be. Hope I'm wrong.

Hope is a fake concept. You sound surprised about all of this. Why wouldn't big spenders become interested in bitcoin and why wouldn't they want to compete with one-another to see who has the biggest farm? it was inevitable, doesn't mean to say that the home miner can't still be a part of it, on the contrary, i'm still doing quite well with my miners and i'll continue to prospect coins - mainly now, with spondoolies rigs.

Small debt to Zvisha (going over my hundreds of emails...) The hybrid SP30 (SP30 Mgmt, SP30 Mainboard, AlteraFPGA emulating RockerBox ASIC) is working perfectly. The sw is ready, just waiting for the ASIC ...

Obviously I have both types of batches, my "slows" run at ~1400, "fasts" at ~1430. Voltage over 140 is enough for max performance. There is only one machine under-performing (slightly) - number 4. I guess it has DCR type 1 which works well in sub-25C and becomes bottle-neck at higher temperatures.
