I'm surprised there are many data centre's offering to host these. If they wound up running a total of 60 SP30's in their facility they would require just over 200,000 btus of cooling? That's 50 tons! That's crazy!!
Yes, it's crazy to try to cool SP30s with air conditioners. Why add 30% to your power consumption for a few measly degrees lower temperature (but limited airflow volume), especially when those few degrees would likely only improve performance by about 1%? There's a 10 ton air conditioner in our datacenter right now. We're planning on shutting it off permanently once we finish installing our real cooling system. It will be a drop in the pond then.

You must be planning to install a wind tunnel, lol! And that 200,000 btu's would be the heat that the units are generating - that many units would create enough heat to get a very large room above 40C in only a few minutes. I question if you would even be able to put 21 of them into a 42U rack without literally cooking the units (unless you're literally in a 100% hot aisle/ cold aisle contained facility that has a huge pressure differential) What kind of cooling system are you putting in place to dissipate that kind of volume of heat?

Letting them vent outside is the best option for these. Serious waste trying to cool them. Power is under .03/kw here and I still would not do it. Equipment costs alone would be unreal.

OK I admit I am perhaps being dense here.....but have a couple questions....mostly on the advice of "are you out of your mind hosting at home' front:
1) The compensation plan from what I gather is going to be the same for all units bought (GB or direct) thu Sept right?
2) This compensation plan from what you can tell (I am confused on the specs/power spondoolies is basing this on) anyway for others who have run the numbers...what exactly will be the price off per gh ...as a value I can use with this (again if correct) 4.5th vs the old 6th? hash rate? or just a plain off they will be offering approximately such and such % off price paid per compensation? If this is unclear I will wait on this but if someone has some rough numbers or % refund ballpark would appreciate you sharing such.
3) Well as a side note in NOT hosting probably the right choice with the 2500 to 3000w increase in power vs new hash rate..that hosting price increase would have sucked..but even running at 3000w (on 220v I might add) with a KNC Titan also at 220v and on a 100amp service in the house ...perhaps I should also be looking at moving this out the door to someone else if spondoolies is offering xfers in place.to others as previously hoped/for? mentioned in this thread?.....ie maybe I'm just plain pushing my luck on getting all that heat out /100 amp service (even thou 220v wired 3 circuits) extra 500 watts etc.
Again not slamming anyone....sh*t happens....but with a KNC Titan I'll be looking at about 4,250watts now vs 3750watts now and the extra cooling (fans) in the basement etc....MAYBE ...I should 'punt' to someone else at this point ...considering I'm looking at a 4.5th hash rate and my electricity is 0.15kwh here...that with the extra 500 watts of heat and at an extra approx $54 usd/month extra in electricy costs ...er ...duh ....maybe I should punt this sp30 unit to someone with less issues? again should spondoolies allow such a punt/switch?
anyway again not a slam ...just looking for legit advice here...the usual you should not mine at home I know about but come oct/nov I can legit use the heat....and.likely I can this sp30 and still make a profit etc...(my one disadvantage is I am a legal miner in USA (bank mess up circumstances..ie outted see previous thread for details..ie don't let your bank mess up on 9 bank wire xfers and report them all as you....not good.fixed now..but I be a legit miner in usa sigh) so 25% of mining is called revenue to IRS.sucks to be me....on the other hand I can take equip depreciation for a total towards (applied to taxes owed) over few years 25% on equipment ..also I guess that 1100 usd coin I made last fall I could also sell at a capital loss so to speak I paid taxes on this year...if I choose to play that game...so all in all kinda a wash...sucks thou
again I am probably ok..but just in case any advice welcome ..if you just want to beat me up on choices...sorry I have myself with my own doubts...friends and family who think bitcoin is a cult and my past guilt of being one of the few to get a full BFL refund..
much angst/much cluelessness

Dear Customers,
After a close inspection of the first ASICs, I'm pleased to announce that the ASICs are fully functional. Made from industrial grade, sophisticated hardware, the SP30 is now the best mining rig available in the market.
For units produced up to and including September, the SP30's hash rate will be 4.5TH/s +- 5%. Power consumption will be 3KW at the wall.
With additional tuning of the production process for October and onwards, we expect future SP30s to deliver a hash-rate of 5.5 +- 5%, with power consumption of 3KW at the wall.
For customers who have already placed orders and are awaiting delivery, our priority is to ensure on-time delivery of your machines so you can immediately start seeing ROI. I am therefore very pleased to report that we will meet our original delivery schedule and provide all customers with on-time delivery.
For customers receiving units before October, we will adjust the price of your machines consistent with the 4.5TH/s +- 5% hash rate. Compensation will be based on preserving the $/GH ratio of the original deal. Starting in October, we will compensate you for the differential in hashing power according to each customer's preference. We will contact each and every one of you over the next few weeks to discuss your preferred method of compensation.
As always, we are at your disposal for any questions or inquiries.
We sincerely appreciate your loyalty and support as we continue to develop the world’s best mining products and services.
Best Regards,
Guy Corem
CEO
Thanks Guy. I look forward to hearing from the SPTech team soon on the compensation.

Sorry, it's a bit too crazy here to post pictures. We are learning the ASICs behaviour and test systems today. You know, working ASICs are all alike, every broken ASIC is broken in its own way.

Sucks you don't get your refunds until October. That's a nice interest free loan that Spondoolies got from the community and now you don't have the option to buy competitors gear if you wanted since SP is holding onto your money for a few more months.

I'm fed up of people who have nothing better to do with their time than complain about common hurdles which can often occur in life. If I had your attitude, i'd be afraid to leave my house in case I got hit by a bus. You do not endear yourself to me, and personally, I couldn't care less about your own predicament. today is still a good day
