I believe you when you say Everton are in danger of being relegated. Having to choose between Burnley and Everton (one to stay in the Premier League the other to be relegated) I would have to say on form Burnley deserve to stay up even though they are a small club. Everton is a big club but they have been abysmal this season.

Here is the current Premier League table after the game this evening. The problems Everton and Burnley face can be clearly seen:

Believe if i say Everton itself is danger, they have failed to pick up points in their easy run of games, now they get to face chelsea, mufc, liverpool and leicester out of their remaining games. I do not see them escaping the drop down to championship this season. A team facing a run up of games with top teams, struggling to score goals from open play, cant defend. its a big mess for Everton

Yes, I think form is crucial, it gives confidence, which can have a huge effect on results. Not only do Burnley have a valuable win now, they also came from behind and won it right at the end, which should give evn more confidence... and not only that, but it dealt a psychological blow to their relegation rival. This could prove crucial.

The last time Everton were relegated from the top flight was in the 1950/51 season which was around 71 years ago. If Everton do get relegated then Lampard will go down in their history as a massive failure and he will probably never be taken seriously as a manager again.

What could prove crucial is that Everton have been on the verge of relegation in the past but managed to find a win on the final day of the season some years ago that kept them up. I believe they were 0-2 down but came back to win 3-2 on the final day of the season.

Having said that Burnley have no intention of getting relegated and will fight with Everton and any other team that gets dragged in to the relegation battle because they want to stay in the Premier League.

Burnley have no intention of getting relegated and will fight with Everton and any other team that gets dragged in to the relegation battle because they want to stay in the Premier League.

One thing that can be important in a relegation battle is having been through them before. The teams that are most likely to go down are those that were previously mid-table sides but are now in freefall. Those that are always around the lower half know the relegation pressure all too well, and are used to fighting for every point. We'll have to see if that's the case with Everton, but I do think you'd have to favour Burnley to stay up at the moment.

I am super excited for City vs Liverpool and the irony is that they’re two of the biggest rivals of my favourite team, yet I’m waiting for their clash as it’s going to be one of the most entertaining game of the season. Also what has happened to Everton, because I can’t understand how they can perform so poorly, and for now Lampard is staying but few more bad results and he’ll be asked to leave which be really sad in my personal opinion.

The Everton chairman has given Lampard his backing for now at least. Changing managers now would probably be detrimental to Everton because the season is nearly over and they are still above the relegation zone. Maybe bringing in a new manager now will upset the fragile cohesion remaining in their team.

Manchester City vs Liverpool should be a fantastic game to watch. Both teams would like to win this, neither would settle for a draw because the winner gets one step closer to being Premier League champions. I think Manchester City will win this game 2-1  Grin

^  Either of them won't settle for a draw but I feel like it will end in a draw.  Grin  The odds for BTTS and draw is 4.20.  I'm betting it as a degen bet.  I don't expect to win, just dropping 10 bucks to win a little something something and also just something to look forward to this weekend.

And ending in a draw is the most exciting scenario for everybody..  all neutrals, City supporters and LFC supporters.  I don't think either side, City supporters or Liverpool supporters, would say it's the most exciting outcome tho.  But it is more than they care to admit.  Cheesy

I deleted the original post and wrote this one because of the updated league table as a result of the game played this evening.

As for the game played this evening, over 52,000 were in attendance as Newcastle won by courtesy of a penalty. Newcastle were facing a tough relegation battle before Howe was appointed manager but now they are 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

Newcastle United 1-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Looking at the table Manchester City are a point ahead and they would happily settle for a point were it the final game of the season knowing it would be enough for them to be crowned champions but there are still 8 games to be played. If Manchester City win they will put 4 points between themselves and Liverpool. If Liverpool win they go 2 points clear at the top. It will be a fascinating watch  Grin

I'd like to say something about Tottenham. Tottenham has finally become an A+ team. When a few shortcomings are covered, they can play for the championship next year. Although a strong team like Tottenham has top-level players like Harry Kane and Son, unfortunately, they cannot become champions because their league is very tough. In modern football, coaches make the biggest impact on teams. Conte took the team to another level. The wing and midfield they received from Juventus contributed a lot to the team. I think they can be a top contender next year.

Tottenham have the potential to fight for more than just a top 4 finish but where would they be without Son, Kane and Conte? If Kane and Conte leave at thee end of the season Tottenham will be nowhere near A+. Even now they are having inconsistencies where they can beat Manchester City one game then lose to Burnley the next.

Their fight with Arsenal, West Ham United and Manchester United for the top 4 finish is bringing suspense to the end of season. May the best team finish there after 38 games have been played.

In modern football, coaches make the biggest impact on teams. Conte took the team to another level. The wing and midfield they received from Juventus contributed a lot to the team. I think they can be a top contender next year.

I edited this post to add the result of the game already played this afternoon:

Everton 1-0 Manchester United

Everton needed 3 points to try create space between themselves and the relegation zone, congratulations to them but Manchester United were abysmal. They do not deserve to be in the Champions League next season, Tottenham and Arsenal deserve it more.

^  I watched a bit of the second half for the lulz when I saw Man United was down by a goal.  They didn't bring any real thread at the attacking third except for that Ronaldo attempt that hit Pickford's arm...  Which isn't really a hand ball imho, to the horror of the United fans.  It was their chance to make it 1 - 1.  But no.

And check out Chelsea rn.  It looks like they are taking it all out on Southampton after getting totally owned for two straight matches, Brentford and Real Madrid.  Lolol.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur kicks-off at 5.30pm but the other games are in the second half, here are the latest scores:

Arsenal 0-1 Brighton and Hove Albion

Southampton 0-5 Chelsea

Watford 0-1 Leeds United

With Arsenal losing it means Tottenham would cement their place in 4th place with a win at Villa and yes certainly looks as though Chelsea are battering Southampton as a rebound after the way Real Madrid destroyed them in the Champions League  Grin

Arsenal 0-1 Brighton and Hove Albion
The game finally ended 2-1 in favour of Brighton, a very disappointing game for us that still support arsenal. A friend described my club as a breeding ground for talent, another said a "youth academy", now i see why...we play well sometimes with very young players, but our performance is averagely not near the standard of those teams that can really compete for the champions league. If Arsenal must do well, we need senior and experienced players at the club, someone that our young talents can look up to.

For the now, considering the form Tottenham is in under Conte, I can't imagine them letting go of that top four position on the table, they even seem like they will be better representatives from the EPL in the next UCL season than arsenal will.

Can this Tottenham team finally secure Champions League football next season by finishing 4th? It looks like they might do it  Grin

Aston Villa 0-4 Tottenham

Son scored a hat-trick in their 0-4 demolition of Aston Villa. Conte has his Spurs team playing for him but Gerrard seems to have lost the dressing room at Villa.

For the now, considering the form Tottenham is in under Conte, I can't imagine them letting go of that top four position on the table, they even seem like they will be better representatives from the EPL in the next UCL season than arsenal will.

Just when the world thought Arsenal were going to make it back to the UEFA Champions League after being out since 2017, they lost another three points, it's becoming a culture to always bottle whenever they are closer to qualifying or heading towards the end of the season, and with Tottenham being in fine form and picking up crucial points in the last two games, they may have the taste of UEFA Champions League football once again, Conte is doing a fantastic job.

Chelsea are battering Southampton as a rebound after the way Real Madrid destroyed them in the Champions League  Grin
I feel bad for Southampton because they had to pay the price for something they had no knowledge of, but someone had to pay for the humiliation we suffered in the last two games; we needed a good start going into the second leg of the Champions League against Real Madrid. Everyone was watching because it was a must-win game.

Tottenham swept Aston Villa aside with relative ease, it was a great performance indeed. They really played well enough to show they are a top 4 team. Son played a brilliant game and he deserved his hat-trick but Spurs played with so much cohesion and team spirit they deserve all the credit as does their manager Conte.

Can Tottenham keep playing like this until the end of the season? Here is the current Premier League table:

Absolutely great performance from Tottenham. Son was excellent in that match and did hat trick. Aston Villa played well in the first half but Tottenham came back strongly in the second half. They are building a strong team and I hope Tottenham will be strong team if they are able to uphold their performance like that.

With Arsenal losing it means Tottenham would cement their place in 4th place with a win at Villa and yes certainly looks as though
Arsenal worked hard to get in to a position where they could challenge for the top 4 position and for a while it seemed almost certain they might get it but they lost too many games alongside Manchester United but Spurs won those crucial games and managed to sit in 4th place instead. You are right, for several years Arsenal seem to lose their nerve when they are close to qualifying for the Champions League and always seem to miss out.

As for Conte, yes he is doing great at Tottenham. He was so close to quitting his job a few weeks ago but bounced back and they have been playing very well.

I was afraid too that Tottenham may lose that match but in the second half, they played good enough to win the match. Aston Villa need a good goal keeper at the moment so that they can be able to make their defense more strong.
Tottenham have a made late surge in an attempt to secure the 4th spot end of season finish in the Premier League table which will guarantee them Champions League football next season. Their push has coincided with Manchester United and Arsenal failing to keep up with shocking losses giving Spurs a chance to break free from the chasing pack. Tottenham absolutely dismantled Aston Villa and deserved to be sitting in 4th place.

Here at the remaining games from this weekend taking place today. At the bottom, if Burnley beat Norwich they will put pressure back on Everton as the gap closes to just 1 point again. At the top, Manchester City and Liverpool will play in the most eagerly Premier League clash of the season  Grin

Brentford vs West Ham United

Leicester City vs Crystal Palace

Norwich City vs Burnley

Manchester City vs Liverpool
