I’m happy that the NFA are setting standards for the coaches. These are crucial moments for the new coach and ideally it should not be hard for him to achieve all this objectives with the squad Nigeria has. They are good enough to qualify for the African Cup Of Nations and the World Cup.

But with the quality of players in the national team, why should the coaches be acting like it's hard to qualify the team for these competitions. They aren't asking for a trophy just qualification. They just need the squad to be participating to keep the money coming. For me that's not enough, the contract should have us winning the AFCON and maybe getting into the quarter or semis for the world cup. We should set the standard high so we challenge ourselves to achieve better. The boys should be qualifying for the AFCON and world cup easily and that shouldn't be an achievement to celebrate (to retain the job).

we keep growing with better squads on our list but our performance are no where near what it supposed to be.

The Nigerian team will have a new midfielder shortly, to add to the quality of the team. Maybe he will be the glue that the team needs, although I do not think so because he lacks experience even playing in the Premier League.

Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam who has played for the younger England team may become a member of our senior National side.

This is good news for the Nigerian national team. I don’t know him or has watched him play before but for the Nigerian national team to invite him over, he must be a good player and will add more value to the team. I don’t see them lacking in tht midfield too much but if they have a new player to the squad it might improve their general gameplay, I’m rooting for this player and will see how important and useful he will be for the squad. They need everything they can to get a comfortable and decent midfield for a qualification to the World Cup.

Nowadays it is very difficult for a national coach to adopt a style of play and play beautifully when he has players who play in many different leagues and also the leaders of the federations demand results, when they sign contracts with the coaches they set some goals such as:

1 - the national coach must qualify the team for the African Cup of Nations

2 - the national coach must qualify the team for the World Cup

If the coach does not comply with these points the contract is automatically terminated. So the coach will not focus on playing well or beautifully, he will demand that the team wins, no matter what means the players must use

All countries cannot qualify for the World Cup or AFCON, making those rules given to new national coach is just a pressure so he puts in his best with the squad, if you don't qualify for the World Cup at least try making it into the AFCON. Nigeria is closer to not qualifying for World Cup, AFCON won't pass us by, we can equally win this time, not alone making it into the finals, our squad are fit and i believe resuming means giving their all this time.

Every employer will always be aware if they're owing any of their workers and after then explains to the employee while their money has not yet be paid and given a tangible date for payment, from such response coming from the statement of NFF director send a very sensitive message to the public that either Christian Chukwu did not no what he was claiming for or just cooking up such story to get money from them because that's what some people who is not into sports could be thinking and the proof the director is saying might be impossible for Christian Chukwu to provide because everything will be on the NFF database so he cannot get his hand on it.

The NFF and other sports/athletic bodies in Nigeria stink of corruption, they do not have people who love the sport, 99% of them are there to loot the country. And why I am saying this because once the protest is seriously against the arm Forces the politicians will run and surrounder because they are using the arm force to oppress the masses not to speak. And once that is done. All agencies will.do well and corruption will drastically reduced.

It is very easy to sit back and say these things, but if such protest is organised will you come out and participate? The politicians that has been using the Armed forces will sit back and watch you carry out a protest against them and the armed forces? It will only result to the death of more innocent citizens. And if after the peaceful protest and the politicians refuse to change what happens? Many protests has happened in this country many times but have you seen them implementing any of the demands of the protestants? And if you think our politicians will surrender and run away because of protest in this country you are joking. Who the game favouring won't allow anything that will take away food from their hands. The end Sars protest was the only protest that would have brought change in this country, but we saw how it turned out.

That's also the language I want to hear about the whole matter that they will pay all the money they are owing him but unfortunately corruption has infected the minds of must people that they don't see any reason to withdraw their intention they have for it, if not only this dead would have given them some kind of petty to do the right thing. The corruption affecting NFF is mind blowing, over the years Nigeria have developed lot's of good coaches, but you will hardly see the current NFF give them a fair contract, all because they want to hire foreign coaches so they can get high kickback's from the money they will pay the foreign coaches because their salaries are always in USD. Tell me what's the special quality that this current coach Eric Chelle brought to the team that Augustine Eguavoen wasn't doing, yet they couldn't give him permanent contract, all this point out to one thing, the NFF knows what they are doing.

The main problem with our national team most especially the supper Eagles is the height of corruption in the football management wings, most time it not the availability of good players on a team that makes up for their winnings in matches or being able to qualify for the next level on their competition.

The lack of motivation,that has been bred by the high rate of corruption in the football management the coach alone can not do anything to change the fortune of the team and the same goes with players also, there is a limit to what they can do at per time, so this issue with our national team is somewhat systematic corruption that needs urgent interventions

I'm aware of corruption ongoing in NFF, to be fair what happened to Finidi and what did he contribute, he is part of the reason why we are still in a tight corner with less possibilities of qualifying for World Cup, he started the failure now Chelle is moving on same footprint. Everything is not going right, the cause needs to be resolved starting from the board, who knows how they operate in closed doors in terms of controlling or restricting coaches to some personal decisions.

If we want our local coaches to manage the squad, they should consider keeping enough time for the changes and we also need to give full support, that same thing that made Finidi resigned might reoccur if not careful.

Aside from the corruption in the NFF, there is already a mindset that they have about foreign coaches that needs to change. And that mindset is that foreign coaches will perform better than our local based coaches which in my estimation is wrong. All those foreign coaches do is bring in their own technical members and increased the money that the NFF should pay. If we consider the performances of the bast foreign coaches and the local coaches we'll see that the difference isn't much. The NFF need to stop thinking that way.

Unfortunately, we Africans are content with little when it comes to the World Cup. The African federations have already accepted in advance that it is impossible for us to win the World Cup, which is why they waste no time in putting in the coach's contract that if he does not win the World Cup, he will be fired. The funny thing about all this is that African players also play for the big teams in Europe, but when they are in the World Cup, it seems like they have never played for the big teams, they play badly. In Africa, everything is wrong.

The Super Eagles team are not reliable enough for me to put my hopes high in the coming AFCON. The past years I have heard my heart broken and hopes chattered from supporting the Super Eagles all the way in international competitions, it will take much convincing to do that again.

I agree with you, European base players will always prioritize their club over the super Eagles because by the time they look back to how a personality like Christian Chukwu who has one time captained the green Eagles and later became the coach of the national team, how he was treated by The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), trust me whenever the call to play for the super Eagles comes, lots of players will be skeptical to honour it, even when they do honour it, they won't put in their all. Funny enough, the late coach Christian Chukwu is not alone in this, there are lots of untold stories from other players too who have experienced this.

I won’t blame these European based players for such behavior because if the NFF had put in place pleasant measures to give comfort and good hospitality to these players who have accepted the call to represent their country instead of ill treatments tell me why they will not give their all for the course. Imagine owing these players wages and allowances meant for them and their upkeep during competitions.

Sorry dude, this is what you get most times for being too passionate about our super eagles, and I understand your sentiment very clearly because we all have gotten a taste of disappointment from them before, but that shouldn't stop you from rooting for them because at the end of the day, it's still our beloved country.

The Super Eagles have taken it as a tradition not to perform well when invited to play for their home country. I have always known them to be playing below expectations and the problem is not from the coach, instead the problem might be due to lack of financial encouragement from the management board to the players. It has gotten to an extend that some of our players are been owned some certain amounts of funds by the management board that are yet to be paid and this has been a  discouragement to the players from giving out their best in the field because there are under paid.

Nigeria have quality players that are performing very well in their various clubs abroad. Or haven't you been asking yourself why our players are performing to standard when playing in their clubs but once invited to play for their beloved home country,they will start playing below expectations. This is a clear show that the players are intentionally playing below expectations and it pains me for that. The best we can do is to continue to give them our supports and hope for a better change and improvements in their playing pattern in the field.

So unfortunate that stories like this don't come out until something tragic happens. Even if they pay to his family, Chukwu who worked for it did not get to enjoy any part, what a big slap on his commitment to Nigeria and NFF. When we worry about seeing some Nigerian players neglecting Super Eagles to play for England, France e.tc we tend to call them out for abandonment of nationality meanwhile our approach to players are filthy. See the case of Osimhen and Finidi, it takes a lot of love for Osimhen to return playing for Nigeria with the same commitment of action, same intensity to win games and take Nigeria to World Cup qualification.

It is a good record to be achieved by an African in European football. This shows the contribution and impact African players bring to the game. As an African I feel proud of what our brothers are achieving in the game globally. Serhou Guirassy’s hatrick against Barcelona was amazing and I think it’s one of their best performances so far this season.
